Wrinkles and Fur Are Necessary For Beauty!

About Me:

I'm a 34 year old, Southern Cali girl, and I work for my husband in his construction company. I don't have any human children, but I am the Mom of a little girl, English Bulldog and she is my angel in a fur coat! I've lived near the beach most of my life, and spend lots of time in the water, windsurfing and kiteboarding, so I'm always looking for great waterproof, high SPF products, and also haircare products that can keep my locks from turning into straw. Several years ago, I became interested in nutrition, and started incorporating green smoothies and raw, whole foods into my diet, and I've been really happy and impressed with the improvements I've seen in my skin, hair and energy levels. However, I am still convinced that any depression can be cured by baking and consuming a pan of oatmeal raisin cookies! My current beauty obsessions are: mineral makeup, anti-aging skincare, shimmer/highlighter products, coral colored blushes and lipsticks, the perfect makeup primer, sunless tanners, nude lip liners, matte eyeshadows, shower oils, body butters, super glossy/shimmery lipglosses *flashing eyes at YSL Golden Glosses*, retinoid products, face serums and eyeliner pens. My weirdest beauty behavior? Whenever I find a Holy Grail, "can't live without it" beauty product, I start to scour Ebay and the beauty discount sites, to find and buy multiple backups so I never run out. Yes, ladies..I am a product hoarder! Biggest cosmetic frustration? After years of searching, I still can't find the perfect pinky nude lipstick to compliment my light medium, warm (MAC20/25) skintone. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. ;)

My Routine:

15 minutes, if I pull back my hair and do a "no makeup look" of tinted moisturiser, bronzer, blush and lip gloss. 2 hours, if I wash and dry my hair, and apply normal makeup. 2 and a half hours, if I do an all out, evening, glam look. No wine breaks for me....I'm all business, Baby! ;)

My Horror Story:

Wow...I've had so many beauty horror stories, it's tough to pick just one, but one of my worst ,and the most recent, happened a few years ago. My husband and I were getting ready to visit some friends in Australia, so I decided to treat myself to an airbrush tan, the night before we left. When I got to the tanning salon, I somehow got the harebrained idea that I wanted a deep, dark bronze color, on my naturally fair skin. Although I am a veteran self-tanner, and really ought to have known better, I insisted the airbrush tech mix up a super dark solution for me. After the session, my tan looked pretty good....certainly way darker than I had ever seen myself before, but still good. Later that night, I went to sleep, dreaming of my newly bronzed self, cavorting on the beaches of Sydney. The next morning, when I woke up and showered off the color guard, large chunks of my brand new tan, also swirled down the drain. When I finally took a peek at myself in the mirror, I screamed, because I looked like a diseased, spotted, mottled freak! There was no time to do a quick repair job, because we had a plane to catch, so I threw every tanner, bronzer and scrub I had in my luggage, and left for the airport. I prayed that the TSA wouldn't pull me over, strip search me, then quarantine me for having an exotic skin disease! After we arrived in Sydney, I spent about 90 minutes a day, for the next three days, scrubbing, patching, bronzing, moisturizing, and just generally trying to salvage my hopeless tan. Nothing worked at all, and when I realized my airbrush tan was destroying our vacation, I just went ahead all scrubbed the whole mess off! I spent the rest of our time in Australia, ghostly pale, and ended up having one of the best vacations of my life. Moral of the story? If you can't achieve a certain level of skin color by natural means, definitely don't try to do it with chemicals!!!!

My Celebrity Look-a-like:

I've been told I look like Anna Kournikova, but only if I'm having a really, really, really good day. Lol!

Fav Product #1

I can't live without this product...

Green Cream Levels 6 & 9

Green Cream is my absolute Holy Grail skin lifesaver. Even after the very first application, on the following morning my skin looked radiant and completely transformed. This is the strongest retinoid product I've used that caused virtually no irritation to my skin. It's great for shrinking pores, decreasing lines and hyperpigmentation, and just generally improving skin texture and glow. It takes about 3 months to reach your ultimate results, but it's totally worth the wait. I did experience some moderate purging during the first six weeks, but it was bearable. If you're interested in hearing more about this great product, check out the website www.greencream.com. The Community Boards there are incredibly informative, and you can find answers to just about any skin care questions you might have.

Fav Product #2

I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product...

Lashout Pro Eyelash Extensions

Getting eyelash extensions was the best beauty investment I've ever made. I have long lashes, but they are stick straight and blond, so if I don't torture them with an eyelash curler, then glue them into place with tons of mascara, I get the dreaded "chicken eyes" look. The extensions have completely transformed my beauty routine. Not only have I given up mascara, I find I need a fraction of the eye makeup I used to wear, for my eyes to look great. Also, it's so wonderful being able to wake up in the morning with pretty eyes! There is a definite time and money investment required, but I think it's absolutely worth it! There is also a learning curve involved in caring for the lashes....the more carefully and gently you treat them, the longer they will last.

Fav Product #3

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-)

Keromask Concealer

Actually, this is the product that allows me to start drinking at noon. (J/K!!!) Ladies, this is the gold standard of concealers! I've always bought in to the school of thought that says you need two types of concealer... a super emollient one for under the eyes, and a thicker, drier one for everywhere else. In my quest for perfect dual concealer nirvana, I have literally tried just about everything on the market, from ultra high end products *glaring at Chantecaille*, to discount bin drugstore deals, and I always ended up frustrated and disappointed. Finally, I found my Holy Grail, when I ran across Keromask.
