Currently working on my PhD in marine fisheries (yep I fish for a living). Very much a science nerd, my user-name is the species of fish I'm studying. Dealing with the sometimes-ickyness of the job, which is not conducive to prettiness---such as what is the best way to eradicate fishy smells and look fabulous while sweating out in the field (code for working on/in the ocean). Love all the good tips I get here at Meg's and a break from my mostly testosterone filled day!

My Beauty Secret:
When ever you feel down, dress up in one of those fancy gowns (all those bridesmaids dresses you never wore again), put on some make-up, a tira, get a great bottle of wine and your favorite movie...even prance around as if you just accepted an award doing the fake wave. By the end of the bottle of wine if you aren't having fun with it or laughing at yourself then something is really wrong...get a good friend to do it with you.
My Routine:
make-up 30 min, hair hours and hours...for everyday at work not much time at all-wash face, brush teeth, sometimes mascara....now if by some miracle I am actually going on a date, the process must start early in the day and call for alcohol or valium or both to calm me down, several worderobe changes
My Horror Story:
Seeing all those pictures from the 80's with monsterous bangs! Gasp! Ohhhh one time I was trying one of those mascaras that has the conditioning step, forgot to put on the mascara step and went out with the weird white conditioner on my lashes, didn't figure out that people were looking at my eyes not because of a great mascara but because it look so freakish until lunch time!
My Celebrity Look-a-like:
LeAnn Rimes and sometimes Jodie Foster...oh and my wonderful friends joke that since I look so young I am a ringer for Dakota Fanning
Picked up this in Target the other day because it looked very cute (a bar of soap that looks like a block of wood!). Also the scents (signature, cederwood, citrus, tea tree) are light, manly-ish, but not too over powering. Great for a guest bathroom or kitchen or husband's/boyfriend's/son's bathroom---anything to get them to suds up. These also come in body washes with a block of wood looking top. I personally like to keep it around 1)in case my bf showers at my place and doesn't want to smell girly, 2) to keep at his place for him to use (hey that old spice body wash is too much for me) and to have something for me to use when there with out embarassing him by having frou-frou products. Big PLUS for me is that the citrus scent gets out fishy odors! So keep a bar in the kitchen or if you work with fish (or your honey does) keep the shower gel on hand!
Just got this nail polish, much talked about it is supposedly Tiffany Blue (apparently there are debates). What is it about emulating Audrey Hepburn that makes every woman feel more elegant? I was very excited about this color since it is probably as close as I'll get to anything Tiffany's for awhile. I have put it both on my fingers and toes. I must say that I got mixed reviews on the fingers, it is quite bright and striking, and unless you are 13 it can look a bit childish. BUT, on the toes it is divine! It picks me up to know that my toes are sporting something so happy even if they are hiding away in layers of socks and boots. I see this a great summer color! Plus much staying power, no chips for 3 weeks now (ok granted toes are coverd in socks and such most of the time). I had a hard time finding it in stores, but the internet is a wonder.
