i'm a stay at home mom to 1 wonderful little monster son and my husband (no, that's not a typo, he acts 5). i confess to being a total beauty junkie - but i'm frugal too - it's a paradigm. i love love love makeup (mascaras & eyeliners & lipgloss oh my!) and though i rarely move outside of my tried and true 5 minute face i do worship at the alter that is sephora & nordstrom (do you hear angels singing? i do).

My Beauty Secret:
lots of sleep, lots of water, lots of laughing, chapstick, exfoliation and retinol.
i wish i could be one of those women that lives by her sunscreen use but i'm a tanner (ya, i know - really - i've read all the same stuff you have) and while i abhor the wrinkles but i love my freckles.
My Routine:
tops is 45 minutes - really really and that's with wine breaks - but i've got most of my makeup tattoo'd on because i'm basically clear without makeup and i AM the laziest woman alive! :)
i don't wear base makeup or foundation and i can't stand the mineral makeup that everyone loves as i don't have that kind of attention span. i don't think it's possible to have on too much mascara - tammy fae baker just didn't apply it well. so the routine a'la stephanie... hmmm - well shower, brush teeth, wash hair (no conditioner), clarisonic face w/ erno lazslo sea mud soap, floss, gargle, moisturize head to toe, blowdry (i've got easy hair), primer face, concealer, blush, highlighter, curl lashes, eyeliner, eyeshadow if getting 'fancy', mascara mascara mascara, and dr. pepper lipsmacker. spritz with perfume, a bit of biolage creme wax and biosilk in my hair - maybe a quick spray of hairspray if i'm feeling feisty and throw on my clothes.
and then too it does bear mentioning that a big night out for me is talking the punk to mcdonalds or the movies or doing some volunteer work for the local arts council. i, my glamourous friends, live on the razor sharp edge.
My Horror Story:
sun-in graduation photos. need i say more? nothing like that having chromium dioxide yellow hair... ooh baby. and i was a swimmer - so said chromium dioxide hair had lovely algae green highlights and felt like poor quality hay.
now go with me here - to the mid'80's... this lovely hair was replete with mall bangs, coupled coupled with lots of frosted eyeshadow, melted black maybelline eyeliner smeared all over my waterline, and glossy lips that looked like i had just eaten mass quantities of friend chicken.
i was super hot - a super hot mess. sufficed to say the photos were burned. where were clinton and stacy when i needed them!!??
sweet mother of chocolate all the hype is dead on!! my skin feels like buttah and i swear my pores are smaller and i have fewer breakouts. it's awesome! i use it with erno laszlo sea mud soap which i've used for dear lord - nearly 25 years - and individually they're great but together they're earth shaking.
i USED to be a dead solid shu uemera fan until the recession. i went on a quest for an eyelash curler that worked as well but wasn't so exclusive. enter the tweezerman & an ulta coupon! and really - it is good - and it's easier to find and it is good. did i mention it's good? so i'm a convert. viola. cuz although my eyelashes are long and thick are virtually invisible & straight. but if curled my eyes finally open up and i don't look like sporting an auntie mame style hangover. then i pump up the volume with covergirl lash blast waterproof mascara and watch out world!
until recently my #3 was joey ny hide & conceal but apparently joey ny is gone but not forgotten. it was a close call for me though - because as much as my love for joey was true i also was enamored with theBalm time balm. joey hides spots - theBalm hides everything else. and can be used while you sleep cuz it has eye cream properties and in my book that kind of 'two-fer' just rocks. AND just in case you needed another glowing recommendation from me about it -- it lasts and lasts and lasts. not just once you put it on - and it does - but in that a little goes a long way so it's money well spent. i'm lovin the timebalm. i kinda wanna marry it. especially since joey dumped me.
