| My Beauty Secret: |
Monthly i'll create homemade deep conditioners/protein treatment, facials, body moisturizers, and so on to add into the mix. If I feel like my hair, nails, skin, or anything in particular just needs more natural treatments i'll do it weekly or every other day. I feel that by mixing it up with the regular products you use helps a lot and my body responds to it better. Use Pond's Dry Skin Cream for right out of the shower or any type of water no matter what and apply Aveeno's Creamy Moisturizing Oil the rest of the time. I feel like my skin dries out quickly especially living in the desert but with the mixture of the two I not only have extremely soft, moisturized skin but it has a nice natural glow. Said it before and i'll keep saying it my personal hair rescue is WEN haircare in Sweet Almond Mint. With many products it's based on person to person. I am of mix cultures from African American to French and a bunch others. My hair is kinky, coarse, thick, dry, frizzy, easily prone to split ends, has been highlighted, dyed, relaxed, permed, styled with hot tools, and just like many effected by harsh elements. I do use a hydrating shampoo once a week to help with a more thorough cleansing especially from the environmental factors i'm exposed to. When i'm not within reach of a eyeshadow base/primer I use a light pink or nude lipstick it has just as great benefits and I find has fewer fall outs. Anti Chaffing gel is great as an eyeshadow primer too in fact works better for me than the Too Faced Insurance. Since i wear glasses often i'll bring my crease shadow up slightly higher than most would so you can really see the makeup behind my glasses and I only wear eyeliner and mascara on the outer half otherwise it shrinks my eyes down even more. Obviously applying light eyeliners like white to your inner water line helps with the bigger eye effect. I use a wide tooth comb and rarely a brush for less damage. I gently twist my hair and use a hair clip rather than rubber bands. Hardly play with my hair so it won't become contaminated with anything i've touched but also is healthier the less I fickle with it. In a spray bottle I mix a couple of pumps of my WEN haircare, baby oil, and a hydrating shampoo. For days i'm on the go and miss my morning shower it helps keep my hair vibrant while protecting, cleaning, adding shine, and conditioning. I find it works better than dry shampoo and less messy! I take kelp supplements to help promote healthier thyroid, hair, nails, and skin. My hair especially grows slow and I find that it helps overall! There's a review on my blog at www.misstrishdelish.com if you want to read up on it. |
| My Routine: |
It takes me awhile sometimes to get ready i'd say to go somewhere looking good and refreshed at least 30 minutes. Now that I found the WEN haircare in Sweet Almond Mint and bought the GHD straightener it's a breeze to get ready since I don't devote so much time to my hair anymore. I usually start the day off with cleansing of the face using Clinique's Mild Liquid Soap for Dry Combo. Followed by Sephora's Soothing Toner for Dry Skin. Moisturized with Clinique's Dramatically Moisturizing Lotion. Apply my Aveeno SPF which ever is in reach that day. Followed by a face primer currently Revlon's Beyond Natural. Application of either Bare Mineral's or NYX/Maybelline Powder Liquid/Revlon Beyond Natural Liquid Foundation. To set my foundation during the spring/summer for a nice dewy finish i'll mist water otherwise I use Bare Mineral's/Raw Mineral's Mineral Veil. I always change up the products unless of course i'm obsessed currently how it benefits me. Sleep Beauty Routine: At night I spritz my cleanser-moisturizing hair spray [which is 3 different hair oils, wen haircare's sweet almond mint cleanser, mineral water] comb it through and than wrap my hair. Gives a nice smell, shine, softness, and great looking feel to my hair. Its even better after a nice morning shower but even if I don't have time it's become a nice "dry but not shampoo" haha. I spritz mineral water on my arms, legs, and neck and let it soak in for a couple of minutes than I take a nice moisturizing oil lotion like Aveeno's and just apply a nice layer about 30 minutes before I sleep definitely helps with refreshed looking and silky skin in the morning. Works great after a shower too :) moistruzing oil lotions are the best! Especially Aveeno's it's light and not greasy plus gives a nice brightened dewy look. BUT I do the moisturzing oil lotion every 2 or 3 days and the other days I use Bliss' FatGirlSleep. Seriously that stuff is amazing!! For my face i'll do the mineral water too. But I mix Clinique's dramatically moisturizing lotion and bliss' best of skintentions daily moisturizer. |
| My Horror Story: |
Hands down when I let my Mom highlight my hair... well the first time with the dirty blond color anyways. So I have naturally dark brown hair and I figured well it's a drugstore brand and it's probably not going to show much anyways like it hardly ever does. She started off by highlight my hair with the cap that came with the pack. After awhile it came to a point where she's like let's just streak this all through your hair without the cap [due to such a hectic time with my stubborn curly-thick-kinky-coarse-everything done to it knotted hair]. I was hesitant but somehow let myself be talked into the idea. BIG mistake! The one time figured the color would hardly show up, it did. So for a couple of weeks to not completely damage my hair I had a set of frizzed dried out damaged to the max hair that was BLOND as can be hair and like half an inch daaaaaaark brown roots... it was horrible. Sadly that wasn't my only hair nightmare, hopefully the last though! |

I don't think i've ever been told I look like anyone lol. Honestly I don't mind I have such a diversity of ethnic cultures in me it's bananas. Get this with all 9 different races in me I don't even look like my Mom, Dad, or half siblings haha. But maybe it's not such a bad thing getting mistaken for someone else? |
