After 15 years on the West Coast, I returned to Indiana and now live the farming life.Unfortunately, it also means the closest beauty counter is a full hour's drive away. Thank Gawd for the internet!

My Beauty Secret:
My make-up tip needed some changing.. After too many hours in the river bottoms (flood), I wound up COVERED in insect bites. Then I had an epiphony! There had been a Green Chi post on Tea Tree Oil! It's true, that little gem takes the itch right out of those nasty little buggers. Live in a swamp? Get some tea tree oil NOW!
My Routine:
With a face like this it takes something more than wine breaks to get ready...
My Horror Story:
After reading the casualties of hair colouring (http://www.megsmakeup.com/index.php?p=400) I decided my own hair event fell far below the make-up nightmare bar. So I've changed my mortifying moment to one reflecting a bit of my klutziness. I purchased a wand-type waxing kit for a bit of brow maintenance. Zapped it in the microwave (according to directions). Did a test on my forearm (according to directions). Then applied to aforementioned brows. Too Hot! I actually burned my skin and was left with a 2-week flakey, almost scabby, mess. The sad thing is, a couple of months later, I DID THE SAME THING! DUH.
My Celebrity Look-a-like:
Holly Hunter, a young Stockard Channing, and Pluto - the dog, not the celestial body. I really don't understand the first two...
It IS the all-over body moisturizer. I've tried a plethora of others - from L'Occitane to Philosophy - and keep coming back to the common drugstore variety Palmer's.For as long as I can remember, winter months brought red, itchy skin. Then, 15 years ago, a friend suggested Palmer's Lotion. No more red, itchy skin. Applied after bathing, it's thick emollient base soothes and locks in moisture.
Photos of me as a three-year-old clearly show the dark bags that continue to plague my existence. Enter Kiehl's: For whatever reason, this eye treatment leaves my bags diminished and crows feet far less noticeable. It may not take 10 years off my looks, but I'm good with looking refreshed.
I've drank the koolaid, and it's lemon-flavored. Lemongrass, that is. Without the product formerly known as Exfoliating Lemongrass Cleanser, I'd be slamming lemondrops to compensate for the lack of morning citrus in my routine. Suki's Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser is not just a grit-filled product designed to sandblast your skin: It's gentle. It leaves your skin clean and smooth. It's near life-affirming.
