Who's on a diet!!
Sun, 08/16/2009 - 11:32am
I am! Over the past two years, since I've been living with my boyfriend, I've gained about 12 pounds. I hate the way my clothes look on me now. I'm really suffering because I've never had a weight problem before and have never had to watch what I eat. I'm used to eating and drinking all weekend long. So, now i don't know what to do with myself. How do you ladies cope with the diet blues? I find it so depressing to have to restrict myself. I don't even want to meet my friends for lunch or dinner because I know I'll never be happy with just some crappy salad. I want a salad, bread and butter, a block of cheese, and some wine!

Hi there, I've been on a weight loss campaign since January and have lost 45 lbs so far. And I don't miss them one little bit! I really don't feel deprived. The key for me is to not let myself get hungry, you know - out of control hungry! And I exercise just about every day. Check out hungrygirl.com. I love HG! You'll find some very surprising and dismaying info about certain foods we love to eat. But you will also learn some ways to de-pudge them. I've learned about some delish snacks that really do keep me from feeling deprived. Good luck!Carole

Wow, Cac! 45 pounds! Congrats! Thanks for the tip. I hope these recipes don't require too much effort. I'm not to keen on cooking right now. What do you do when you go out? Do you eat first?
Girl I feel you. I HATE dieting, but I don't like the way I look right now. Plus I work out nonstop and I'm not getting the results I want because I don't diet...Argh!!
Kingtaco, at least you workout! I've been to the gym one time this year. I felt like everyone was staring at me, so I couldn't hang! I never went back. At least I only paid for one month and not a year like the lady wanted me to.
i need to restart my diet since i've been eating more these past few days, i haven't gain weight but i do have some pounds to lose and not eating healthy is not going to help me lose the weight

OMG punkeydew! I just googled Alli and your smart to be careful. I had friend who was on something like Alli and she ate too much fat one day and crapped her pants. True story!
I totally want to try Alli, but I'm way too scared of the consequences if I cheat :PRight now, I'm trying to diet - sort of. Basically, I got in the habit of eating once a day one huge bad meal like chinese take out. Now I'm trying to eat healthier multiple times a day. Smaller meals 6 times a day is keeping me stay full. I've only been doing this for a about a week, so I can't really say if it's working, but it has to be healthier than what I was doing!
lol when I hear about the people who actually do crap their pants... Lol I feel bad, but not that bad because THEY KNOWPS the fear is GOOD You just gotta eat right. In the beginning I wrote everything down and looked at the nutritional facts ON EVERYTHINGBut i am soo in the habit now, I dont even have to write it down. I glance at stuff when Im putting together the meal and tally up the fat grams. But I am soooo satisfied with my weight loss! And I can fit into a size 18 again!! LOl I know for sone thats not alot. But I havnt fit into an 18 since... freshman year in high school and Im 23 now.My pant size got up to 24.YAY... I want to lose another 20 though... but the last 20 is gonna be sooo hard cause ive been plateuing really bad. and having a hard time losing more, or its just coming more slowly. :(You can check out the alli website theres tons of info.:D I now I sound like a fanatic, But I found something that works for me, the only thing that has EVER worked for me, and kept working! Usually I lose 20, get bored and gain it all back. And I want to tell the world so others can benifit too!!!!!!brittany you should do it! I just bought the started pack, it comes with like 60 capsules. with 3 meals a day thats less than a month. You can not cheat for 20 days.I told myself. 20 days, Im just gonna try it out and see if I can do it. If I cave then Oh well back to the drawing board.I didnt think I could do it, cause I have this love affair with cheese... LolBut when my pills were out and I didnt have any bad effects I was amazed and ran to walmart and bought the 120 pack!!!!and Ive since bought another 120 pack!:D:D:D You can do it!

I'm kind of on a "diet". I'm counting calories using livestrong.com's the daily plate, and exercising. I don't think of foods as good or bad (I need my wine and cheese, and also my dessert sometimes!) but try to balance it all out. I've only been doing it for a few months and haven't really lost much weight but it has slowly gone down. :) I'm hoping for a lifestyle change rather than just losing weight right now--it wasn't until I started counting calories that I realized HOW MUCH I was eating! If I wanted to lose more weight and faster, I'd have to be a lot better about exercising more and eating a little better :P But it's all about making changes that you can sustain.

This is crazy cause I was leaving with my boyfriend and I gained so much weight like ( 16 pounds ) then he left ( we still together lol my life is just complicated) and I lost already 8 pounds without doing anything special !!!!
if I have an advice don't restrict yourself frustration is the worst =s
just try to eat what you like with moderation...and pick a juice instead of a soda when you can ! it may take a lil time but the slower you lose weight the better it is...

Get rid of ALL the unhealthy food in your house stat. Buy lots of fruits and veggies. Cooking Light is a great mag too! If you own an exercise machine, put it infront of the tv. I don't think of doing this as being on a diet, rather as a healthy lifestyle. Been doing this for probably a year now! Was finally old enough to make my own decisions. for the first 14 years of my life, I was fed horribly unhealthy food and rarely encouraged to exercise!
Hello! Many years ago I was told I had to watch my cholesterol. I noticed everything that had dairy or meat was what I had to be careful about. It got to be so tedious I said 'heck with this' and became a vegan (eliminating all dairy and meat). It's a fun diet-really it is! It is like a new way of life rather than a restricted diet. Plus I feel GREAT and lost some weight. I still cook regular meals for my family. Just an idea that worked for me. Good luck. No matter what you pick to do it is all about the mindset. Once you have that it's all good from there. cac- I love the Hungry Girl books. I just adjust them to vegan. (so have you had the shirataki/tofu noodles!?! it took me a bit to get used to the smell before rinsing them... pe-u. But now I love them) Congratulations on such a successful weight loss. You should feel very good about yourself!
.
sorry girls, I can't figure out how to delete my face from showing up here three times. :-)
Me! I have the bottle of Alli but just haven't been able to bring myself to take it yet. Congrats punkeydew!! I'm a sugar addict especially diet coke. Cheese and bread I don't think I'd ever miss but sugar and diet coke yes!!!
ugh I need to be on a diet. I've gained probably 40 pounds since I got married 2 years ago. huge bummer. i'm trying to figure out why. in the past couple days i've been really trying to cut down on how much I eat, (i have a major sweet tooth), and only drinking slimfast for lunch, super healthy (oatmeal) breakfast, and regular dinner. I sure hope something starts to work for me. I know I need to start some sort of exercise program too, but I hate working out so much!

Being overweight sucked, but after reading your book, I lost 85 pounds! Words can not express how good I feel! This is a comment which I recently received about the book Lose Weight Using Four Easy Steps which can be ordered through www.bbotw.com
Don't restrict yourself it will only make you want to eat and drink more! Eat whatever you want but not as MUCH as you want it is all about how much you eat. I believe diets are bad they are a stress to the body and afterwords it only tries to go back to what it was before and even more!! Try exercising or walking if you can that helps too! Good luck!
I don't believe in "diets": having said that I DO believe in making better food choices and working out! Find something you look forward to,for me it's "ZUMBA" currently and I'm addicted! I am lowering carb-intake currently which for me is hard because I love fruit but after a year of lifting weights (heavy much of the time to get strong for the triathelon I did...) I am reverting to a LOT more cardio, yoga, and Zumba along with lowering carbs in hopes of peeling off the layer of fat that is still covering my muscles,LOL! I'm watching my friends take phentermine combined wiht Lipoden shots and yes, they are losing "weight" but are they working towards being healthy and fit? NO WAY!!! It's MUCH better to be firm, strong, and healthy rather than to wear a smaller size, trust me,I have done both ways. This is going to be a great year,I can feel it!
I know how you feel about not knowing how to cope with the weight gain. I am the fattest that I've ever been in my life. My clothes don't fit me anymore & being the stubborn person that I am, I refuse to buy clothes that fit because I don't want to spend money on new stuff which I'll be throwing out shortly.I'm not on any diet though because I believe they don't really work, but some small changes that I'm trying to make are taking the stairs, walking (even if it means walking around on my 15 minute lunch break instead of sitting on a chair & talking to my co-workers), reducing my intake of pasta, rice, & red meat, increasing my water intake, exercising regularly.Eating meals at proper times & 3 times a day, with snacks in between is also VERY important. My biggest weakness previously was that I only used to eat one proper meal a day & consume snacks 3 times a day - my body never knew when it would get its next meal so it began storing the fats from whichever food I consumed. Also, I love listening to music & dancing my butt off when I'm alone so once a day for about half an hour, I blast my music & shake the pounds off - okay, so it's not THAT easy but it actually works over time & you're doing something fun that you enjoy instead of a boring routine exercise. Also, I usually do that after I get out of the shower because it allows my hair to air dry while I'm dancing like a maniac instead of having to blow dry my hair - it's a win-win situation for me!!
Exercise is the best way to keep your weight off. I have a low thryoid, so I should be overweight, but my weight is stable because I keep my metabolism going by working out everyday. If you combine exercise with a diet, it will come off so much faster and you will look toned and great.
I am getting married in april so i have 3 months to trim down (i want to lose a stone and a half-about21 pounds) I got my wedding dress at the weekend and it fits but i want to be slimmer (it has a tie up back so losing weight wont make it lose we will just tie it tighter!) its only a size 10 (which i think is a us 6) but I normally wear a 12 and I am a bit wobbly since having my daughter (2 years ago!) So I really just need to tone up-but man I love my food!!!!!!!I have a recipe for you all-Its soup but its really thick and filling and soooo scrummy! (not to mention healthy, low calories, super quick and easy and taaaaassstttyyyy!!!)you will need1x large onion1x bag frozen (or fresh if you have time to peel and chop-fresh is more nutritious) casserole vegetables1x tin of lentilsfry the onion in a little olive oil until browned, add the casserole veg and cover with water, boil until the veg is soft, blend. rinse the lentils and add them to the soup, heat and serve-yum yum yum! This may not sound too tasty but i promise its delicious and so filling! Enjoy!
I gained alot of weight this summer because my dermatologist changed my acne pill from Yazmin to Yaz and I ballooned, so now Im staying more concious and im excersising

UGH I was on Yaz for a while too and gained a lot of weight! I quit taking it, and still haven't really lost any, but at least I'm not gaining anymore. I just started the 30 day shred (jilllian michaels) about 2 weeks ago and am feeling a lot better about myself. I think I may have lost a couple pounds too.
