What's in your Shower!?
Thu, 06/11/2009 - 1:03pm
I'm looking for a new shower gel, soap or anything that smell good. I haven't bought a GREAT shower gel in a long time that I really love. I just keep buying the same stuff (don't even remember the name) at Target and I'm getting sick of it. So What's in your shower?! Any recommendations out there! Help!

I actually have the dove bar soap of energizing lemongrass (?). I love the smell and dove is a favorite brand of mine. I also have a plain bar of homemade soap I bought from a shop on etsy. (shop is soapalaya) When I was using shower gel I always used the generic big bottle from WalMart.
Dove do a great range of shower creams too the cashmere one is my favourite it leaves your skin really soft hence the name i guess!!
I've been using Red Water Hyrdrating Body Wash...I bought it at Walgreen's on clearance for seven bucks or so. I don't actually care for the scent much...it's kind of powdery, but very mild and doesn't overpower anything else, so it's okay...what I DO love is the moisturization it gives my skin....it's thick and rich, and leaves me so soft and almost velvety feeling...I don't know that I'd pay full price for it, but if I come across some more on clearance, I will definitely buy.A good all-around body wash for everyday use is Ivory. I like the kind with aloe...it's clean and fresh, not too harsh, just a very good basic body wash. Another good one is Johnson's. The kind with the yellow cap, I can't remember the name...holy canole, I think I'm getting senile.
omg i LVOE tahiti by tone and i have started to use tahiti renewal by carress. these are def my FAVS!

Drive your fanny on over to the "health food" store and pick up some ShiKai body wash then grab some lotion. The Yuzu (Japanese Citrus) is very yummy as well as the apricot rose. (quite sensual) The pomegranate lotion is my absolute favorite. They don't aggravate my eczema with weird ingredients and don't have any petroleum in them!
All GREAT suggestions! Thanks Ladies! I love Shikai too I did use some of that last winter and I agree it's great for my eczema skin too. And they do have some great scent. I do love Dove, you just can go wrong with Dove, I will have to check out the lemongrass one, wonder is it come in a bottle instead of the bar soap? Hmmm ... I usualy don't like the gunt the bar soap leaves in my shower, than I have to clean more often. ha ha..... The Red water one sounds great for winter with the moisturizer. And the Tahiti by tone sounds great for the summer, need to check that out too. AHHH so many to pick from! Thanks you all! I appreciate all your suggestion :)
I have been loving the Kings and Queens line, especially Nefertiti - Honey, which comes in soap and shower gel. Both are great. DH also loves this in the soap. The scent is very warm and clean smelling. This is online at Beauty.comI also have in the shower, in rotation, Philosophy's Empowermint - I think they discontinued this, but, I stocked up at Drugstore.com when they had a half price sale on it. Cannabis Rose by Fresh - I love the scent of this. And Whole by an etailer from Etsy called Moona Lisa.
The lemongrass comes in both liquid and bar. Dove knows how to market to both types of consumers. LOL. :) All the other ones sound great, too.
i am a big fan of Bath and Body Works products- and with the semi-annual sale going on this month you can always find some great items for the same prices as discount stores. Here are some of my favorites from that store- Tutti Dolci Lemon Merengue (smells like delicious lemon pie), CO Bigelow Lemon Wash (a very tart lemon scent, extremely moisturizing- no need for lotion), Fresh Pineapple Body Wash. There are many other great scent that you like- I only visit this store during sales and always find a new favorite each time i go .
Get Clean & Clear Soft Steam Facial Wash! Cheap and super awesome. I use Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Wash.
And I have an amazing Caress exfoliating body wash free sample. I forget the website, but search for it on google :)
You should try out the Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash from Caress! Smells absolutely divine!
All great suggestion still coming. YAY! Gigglebunny I'm definitaly going to go get some lemongrass Dove. I think my husband will like that too. Agrymoni thanks for reminding me that I love Cannibis Rose I have the perfume and i use it often. I had the shower gel last summer and really like it. Maybe I need to go get myself another bottle to go with my perfume. I aslo need to check out all Caress products, seems like a lot of you like them. Unfortunatly I've use Bath and Body and the past and they always seem to give me a headache, which bummss me out. I wish I could use their products. I agree they have great sales and tons of great stuff. I have a hard even stepping in the store with all the different smell, kind of like Yankee candle I can't go in that store, I get an instant headache. :(
Most of my bath products come from Bath and Body Works. I think I currently have CO Bigelow's Lemon Wash, which is fabulous and highly moisturizing. I also have a B&BW Creamy Body wash in Butterfly flower. Plus, Caress..I forget which kind it is. It's translucent white and shimmery. It's lightly scented and I think it's supposed to be moisturizing as well.
I love Bath & Body Works "Aromatherapy" line. It does have a very strong scent though, so I use it when it won't be competing with my perfume. The shower gel, followed by the lotion after a relaxing evening bath is delightful, especially when your sheets are scented by them in the morning.

Another shower gel I love is the Sephora Vanilla Cupcake. It really smells like a vanilla cupcake (Yummy!) - and since I'm dieting, it's a wonderful thing. It makes for a lovely in-shower experience. I don't think the scent lasts long though after you get out. I've never noticed any conflict with my other fragrances. My favorite thing for lasting fragrance is the Lush bath bomb. Ohhhhh, I get weak in the knees...!

I'm also a HUGE fan of the Dove "Burst" shower gels...awesome after a workout and so affordable you have really indulge!Hugs Lush fan also but their shower gels tend to be drying...bath-stuff however is a whole other story,LOL! Swoons with cac...:)My soaps are always from e-tailers (Etsy) Gloi and/or Haunt and Moonalisa when I can get them, she's VERY sought after and only opens a few times a year...alll handcraftedfabulously scented, and really worth the price!
Oh gosh, Mjsred - I LOVE Moonalisa. Her stuff totally rocks. I check constantly. Luckily I stockpile when she does open, LOL, so I always have my stash.
i am sorry that your are sensitive to strong scent ( i am one of those people that loves perfumes, and scented anything)- i know BBW product lines are really strong, but some of the 3rd party products they carry are way better, and not as artificial smelling, and are usually on sale! I recommend trying these 2 brands at BBW but by other companies: Bigelow (esp the Lemon and Lemon Pomegranate) and True Blue Spa (very creamy but very little scent, at least to me:). You can get a good deal on them now and they tend to be very delicately scented- the good thing is you can skip the lotion after shower, they are that moisturizing.
and if we are talking about soaps and Etsy- try Magic Hands Workshop (MHW)- you can get a sample pack of 5 soaps for $5, i think. and her soaps are amazing and samples last me a week each. So moisturizing and come in a variety of very creative scents- i didnt find them overwhelming. I loved Pele- smelled like pineapple covered in chocolate and Lavender Mint Salt Soap was very calming and scent was very soft.
I love Grumpy Girl's soaps! I have 3 in my shower right now: Hot Summer Night (true honeysuckle), Bunny Boiler (a soft sweet pea scent), and Hot, Sexy UPS guy (mmm...smells great on my husband). :D
I love Lush soaps and shower gels. Lavanila and 100% Pure makes some great shower gel too.
I absolutely LOVE The Body Shop's Satsuma Shower Gel. I haven't found anything that smells nearly as good as this :P
Lulu, my bf loves the smell of the dove lemongrass. He even uses it when he runs out of his "manly" Old Spice. LOL. I love buying soaps from etsy. I tend to go for Soapalaya Soaps. Alex is great and has made me a custom facial routine that has really worked for me when nothing else has. I have Grumpy Girl saved to my favs. One day I'll remember to buy a bar but there are just so many to choose from. Thanks girls for all the new etsy artisans I will have to check out!
About a year a go, I staged an intervention on myself. I had 3 or 4 body wash products in the shower at a time and never seemed to be able to use them up! So, I took out all but one, and forced myself to use it every time I showered (it takes a LONG time to use Philosophy 16 oz. bottles).Right now I have last summer's Philosophy Surfer Girl exfolating shower gel. I love it because it leaves some gold sparkle on your body!I also love (and horde) le petit marseillais shower gels that I bring back 2 or 3 bottles at a time from France when I'm there or when my dad goes. You can buy them online in the U.S. at beautyplatinum.com but they charge like $20 when in Europe they are like $2. I love the Lait de Coton et Coquelicot!

Great question I keep Bath and Body Works in my shower in the scent "Japanese Cherry Blossom"The body washBody splash and the lotion
Right now I am trying to use up some cranberry scented stuff I got at TJ Maxx, which seems like it will never, no matter how much I squirt out, be finished! And then I have BBW's "Need A Margarita" body wash, which is amazing, and leaves your entire bathroom smelling like the best margarita you've ever had!
I am such a Dove girl. I've tried lots of their washes and beauty bars, and I don't think you can go wrong with them. The thing about washing is that soap usually dries your skin, and Dove has lotion/moisturizer in their products to counteract that.
My all time favorite body wash is beauticontrol's spa sugar body wash! I love the smell, it lingers all day but isn't strong.

Right now I am using Anatomicals Sea Minerals Body Wash that Meg sent me. I really like it! It smells clean and fresh and lathers up nicely! I would definitely purchase this when I run out!
Mark lemon sugar body wash! The scent is addicting and like a lemon bar :)
I use the Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash. It has burnt brown sugar (sounds gross but smells HEAVENLY!) and karite butter in it so it's exfoliating and moisturizing. I loveeee it :) I have KP so I need something exfoliating AND moisturizing and this is the only one that's good enough for me to repurchase!
xoxo
At the moment I am in total love with Lush's The Olive Branch shower gel and Lush's Sweetie Pie shower JELLY!Yes -- it looks like jelly :) So much fun to use, just take a pinch off and put it in a shower puff then watch it lather like crazy!!
I love love LOVE Burt's Bees Body Wash. I'm using the "Naturally Nourishing Milk and Shea Butter" version at the moment and I feel SOO nice after I pair it with the matching body lotion. The smell takes a little getting used to...at first I wasn't a huge fan of it but now I feel like its my body's natural fragrance! You can't go wrong with Burt's Bees, and a big bottle should only cost you around $10.
Uh oh... as a "treat" for my birthday in June (one year older, I know ;-/) I went to Macy's and got myself the "Melon Daiquiry" by Philosophy 3-in-1 shower/bubble bath/shampoo. After sniffing through the whole range of scents and available shower gels (thinking about it still makes me feel dizzy...) I went for this one because it's the perfect summer scent. Works great on my hair too, but I only use it as a shampoo maybe once a week, as I need a little more hydration for my somewhat damaged/dry hair due to permanent hair dying. For everyday use, I discovered NIVEA "Touch of Happiness" with Orange Blossom scent...it's perfect, even for taking a bubble bath instead of showering. Even my husband loves it;-)).

I'm in love with handmade soaps - I spent spring break in Cabo and ended up bringing home a bunch! They smell delicious and work pretty well, although some of them have physical exfoliators that are a little too harsh for my skin. I also have a bottle of Caress Brazilian Exotic Oil Infusions Body Wash...I really love it, it doesn't strip my skin nearly as much as most moisturizers do :)
Right now I am hooked on the Philosophy line of body washes, I just really love the way they smell, when I use the gingerbread I feel like a great big gingerbread girl... Last year for the holidays I got about 3-4 different philosophy scents and I love them all
Right now, I have a BBW 3 in 1 that I found in the back of my product closet, it's the ltd edition peppermint, I only use it for body wash, bc it doesn't make great bubbles, and I rarely use a 3 in 1 on my hair. And 4 BBW bubble baths, depending on my scent mood, I use a different one each night. I just picked up some Soap and Glory products at Target today, so 2 of them are going in, and then I have the BBW eucalyptus spearmint body scrub and body wash/bath foam, plus honey and chamomille lotion from bbw. And about 5 different self tanners take up the rest of the room.
I have a bunch of natural soaps in the shower.. the Pomegranate Perfection soap from Amethyst Soaps on Etsy, the B&F Handle Bar, and a giant bar of African Black Soap (bought at Target, want to get a 'real' one though). I would like to get an all-in-one soap for hair and body, I have a few from Chagrin Valley but none of them are right for me.
Mark Self Sanctuary Lemon Sugar Shower Wash has a sweet and zesty lemon scent. This has got to be my favorite smell of all, even compared to the more expensive brands. I wish Mark would come out with shampoo and conditioner in the same scent. The shower wash is very silky, has a nice rich lather, moisturizes, cleans and leaves skin refreshed, lightly scented and so soft. The lemon sugar scent also comes in a body butter. You can check out the whole line here: http://mnelson.mymarkstore.com/
hrhtracey, I shop at Soapalyasoaps on Etsy. I love all of Alex's stuff. She has a bar called bar naked that is an unscented hair and body bar. If you like bar soaps it may be something you could try. I've never used it on my hair, though so I can't give you good feedback on how well it works.
Thanks for the suggestion, gigglebunny! I saved it as a favorite seller.. the LOOK AT MY FEET butter looks really interesting, my feet are always really dry for some reason. Nothing seems able to moisturize them.
You're very welcome! I get all my skincare needs from her. I haven't tried the Look At My Feet but it's on my wishlist. :)
Right now I have Dove Nectarine & White Ginger body wash as well as Bath and Body Works Coco Cabana shower gel. They both smell really good! Sometimes I even mix them lol. I used to have the green Dove body wash.. the name escapes me at the moment, but it's really moisturizing.
I keep a few soaps and gels in rotation, depending on my mood.My two favourites for silky smooth skin, without any particular scent to them, is Chagrin Valley's Honey Butter Soap (all of their soaps are great) and a generic, pure Olive Soap I buy for 1 dollar for a huge bar that doubles as washing soap for my sensitive facial cloths and make-up brush soap.Scent wise, I love Shea Rose Clay from Chagrin Valley. It has a true rose/peppery smell. And their citrus soaps of different kinds too. All of their soaps are made using real ingredients, without any added perfume, which mean that they might not smell as strongly after the shower as many other soaps and gels do, but in the shower they fill the bathroom with a pure, true, fantastic scent. Can you tell I'm in love with CV soaps? :D
Right now I really like natural soaps. I had bad reactions from shower gels and this seems to solve the problems. I really like soaps from Chagrin Valley because many of them smell awesome! I like the java spice bar. I also like the Shea Moisture line from target. The coconut hibiscus one smells great!
I always stock up on BBW stuff during the sales, so I have tons of it floating around in my shower. They have every kind of scent, so it's really up to your preference. Besides the Signature line, the True Blue Spa stuff is really nice, too, I have a few things from it. I also like some of the Aromatherapy scents from them.
I've been using soft soap body butter coconut scrub and I love it! It really does a good job of cleaning, exfoliating and moisturizing my skin. I still use a rougher sugar scrub about three times a week on my arms and legs, but on a day to day basis it does a great job! It also smells great!
I have ... about 3 different Shampoos and 3 different conditioners... all in use... LOL and a clarifying shampoo too! I rotate around alot.I also have a body wash i have quite a bit from bath and body works so I use that, And a body scrub. I use the Victoria Secred Bare Bronze body polish.I also have a face wash and a face scrub.A pumice stone, a body pouffe, and a back washer.. thingy.Nail clippers...And a bird perch.. sometimes complete with cockateil. LolMy bird loves to shower with me.
Tan is Love
Woah, that's crazy! We have cockatiels but I would have never though of showering with one lol.
