Anyone take vitamins or supplements for the benefit of their skin?I'm currently takingBiotin *5000 mg 1/day*Omega 3s from fish oil *1200 mg 2/day* (thinking about switching to flaxseed.. I started breaking out when I started to take fish oil but I want to finish my bottle up before I switch. Anyone else have a prob like this with fish oil?)Vitamin E *400 I.U 2/day* (Should I up the dose to get the skin benefits?)Acidopholus *1 or 2/day* (heard it was necessary to keep breakouts away, but it helps your digestive health.)Those are the only things I'm taking because of the skin and hair benefits they have. (I sound so vain, don't I? LoL)I was wondering if anyone else takes stuff just cause they're good for your skin/hair??

Flaxseed oil is supposed to be brilliant.

Ugh, I am SO bad at taking my vitamins everyday. I should get one of those 7 day pill containers that my parents have, lol. When I remember to take them, I take zinc (50 mg) specifically for my skin. I heard that it is beneficial for acne-prone skin. My derm also recommended taking extra vitamin B6 the first 3 days before my period to fight off hormonal breakouts.
I only take a daily multi, but your concoction sounds much better! Do you take the acidophilus in pill form?
Yes I take it in pill form. It's these little itty bitty round pills. I heard you can pop 'em open and mix it in water and that it actually tastes sweet.
im just using this $2 bottle of biotin (1000mcg) from target

everyday i take...multivitamin, vitamin c, grape seed extract (with resveratrol), gingko biloba, fish oil
I'm awful at remembering to take my vitamins.. I take a multivitamin supplement with extra c, and a B complex vitamin. Both are for my health rather than skin, but I'd be all for taking something if it made my skin/hair more healthy. I've actually heard that taking ACV is supposedly great for the skin. Haven't tried it yet as I can't get past the smell.
I take a regular multi-vitamin, then I take one that if specifically made for skin, hair and nails. I usually just buy whatever is cheapest, because most of the vitamins you take through supplements pass through your body without much of them being absorbed. Even knowing that, I still take them religiously, and I really believe they make a difference. I haven't started fish oil yet, but I plan to.
wow thats a lot of vitamins. i always forget to take any. lol.
You should be careful especially with the vitamin E. I bought this full-spectrum vitamin E supplement for my thesis and I didn't use it all up so I decided to take them. I started to break out horribly unlike before. I went to the dermatologist and when she asked me what vitamins I've been taking, I told her about the vitamin E and she immediately told me to stop taking them as it was the vitamin E that aggravated my skin.
Wow.. I started taking Vit E b/c of my breakout. LoL. My breakout started before I took vitamin E. It's starting to get better, but I bought some medicated stuff and started taking the E at the same time.. so I don't know which is helping - hopefully the one that cost the most ;-)
I always, always forget to take my vitamins. :(I need to set an alarm on my phone or something to remind me to take them everyday! At the moment I only take a multivitamin but I'm going to look into the other ones suggested. Thanks! :)
not at the moment im not but i want to look into something to help my skin out it really needs it
I don't take anything *hangs head in shame* My mom always yells at me to take a multivitamin, I really should start.
I take biotin for my hair/nails and lysine for my skin, but I take a bunch of supplements every day
I love my multi vitamin. I take the Womens Ultra Megs Active from GMC and I love it. And it DOES NOT make me sick to my stomah like all other Multis do.I also take 2,000 mg extra Vitamin D1,000 mg Vitamin CAnd Omega Oils

I don't take any vitamins - mostly out of laziness and poorness. I really don't think they give real results (besides being a great placebo) either - after watching my mother down tons of different types for months at a time. Maybe I'll change someday though :)

Did you gals all read up on these and start taking them or spoke to a doctor or derm and start taking them? I would have no idea where to start! There's so many vitamins out there.
I'm only taking fish oil for my skin & iron supplements. I haven't found a great multivitamin supplement.
At the moment I take prenatal Vit, Omega fish oil, Vit C and Vit B-complex but I've been debating to stop all that and go on Juice Plus+ instead? Anyone here on Juice Plus+ and would you recommend it?
i always forget to take vitamin
I do not take vitamins specifically for hair or nails. I take them b/c I need them! :P I take iron (I'm slightly anemic), calcium + D (cuz ladies need it!), and sometimes vitamin C.

When doing vitamins for skin it's best to apply them directly on the skin because when you digest it your internal organs take all the good stuff and your skin is the last organ it reaches. I apply vit. c daily and a lot of my other products have vit. e in them too.

I take a Woman's Mult-Vitamin made by Sisu it's the one with the green apple on it. ( has iron which woman need.) Also Vitamin D for lack of sunlight, ( It's cloudy lots here on the West coast..) Omega's 369 Blend. Just started taking a digestive Enzyme and L. Acidophilus for digestion. Disease starts in the Colon. ( Farrah Fawcett & Audrey Hepburn died of colon cancer.) Vitamin B's for my boyfriend, so he can tolerate me when it's that time fo the month! I used to have Vitamin B's injected into me for depression.

eat yogurt and you won't need to take an Acidopholus pill.

I've been really curious about Biotin. I see some of you ladies take it . . . what kind of differences did you notice after starting?

I have been reading about supplements lately. Vit D is essential to prevent cancer, the dosage needed has been upped from 400 IU (international units) to 2000! Also there are different Vitamin E's! Did you know the body uses d-Alpha, d-Delta, d-Beta AND d-Gamma tocopherol? A regular E supplement will not have the Gamma or Delta. I buy from Puritan's Pride "High Gamma Tocopherol" It has all. I also take Ester-C, and THREE omega's every day, Fish Oil, Flaxseed and Evening Primrose oil. There are also many types of Omega's, so just fish oil will only give you some. Most Americans are Vitamin D deficient and in winter the sun cant give you enough. I have been a bookworm all my life so I read about stuff I'm interested in, that is how I chose what to take. I dont take a multi-vitamin, I try to eat well. I also take Selenium. A doctor told me that probiotics work but you have to take them every day. He specifically said that occaisionally wont help.
i take a 5000 mcg biotin pill once or twice a week and i have noticed a difference in my hair BUT... it makes my urine neon yellow. weird
