Thick curly and frizzy is makin me dizzy

Sorry for the silly rhyme...just wondering what products work for thick, curly and sometimes frizzy hair. I'm talking about something to keep the curl without looking gelled up. I like Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Creme....but its a little pricey for the amount that I need to use. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Jen, I feel your pain! I have exceptionally curly hair. I've finally come to a certain peace with it - by letting it have its own way. But to look good, here are my recommendations - all tried (by me) and true.JESSICURL! go to jessicurl.com and get her products. You can get a trial pack that has small sizes of everything you need. It's not too expensive and you'll have the chance to determine if you want the big sizes. I adore the cleansing cream (AKA shampoo), the Too Shea conditioner, Rocking Ringlets, and the styling lotion which at the moment I cannot remember the name of. They are ALL GOOD!And actually, I've been flirting with a new product lately. I saw something called No Frizz at Sephora last week and got a sample of it. I really like it a lot. I still use my Jessicurl shampoo and conditioner, but have been using the No Frizz stuff after showering. My hair looks really cute. And as a fellow curly girl, you probably realize that this isn't something I say all that often... Anyway, give these things a shot and let us know how they work out!

Thank you so very much!! I will let you know how it goes!

I have naturally curly hair too. As we all know people with curly hair have problems with dryness and frizz. I used to hate my curly hair so much. I wanted so badly to have naturally straight hair. I remember in elementary school and junior high I would get up every morning and straighten my hair before going to school. I wore my hair curly one day, and everyone thought I had got a perm, because they were use to my fake straight hair. This was also way back in the day when straightening irons weren't that great yet, and my hair was past my butt back then. So I spent like 3 hours every morning straightening it. Crazy I know. Thank God for great new straightening irons and products to make things breeze by. But I still have came to grips with my curly hair. I usually leave my hair curly because it keeps my hair looking very healthy! I've come to find out that there are several things that work to keep my curly hair looking great. 1.) I wash my hair every 2-3 days. Washing your hair strips the natural oils out of it. Curly haired people naturally have drier hair. So I don't wash my hair every day, and my hair retains more of its natural oil. 2.) I only brush my hair right after a shower, when it is still wet. When you have really curly hair and you brush it when it is dry it will create a frizzy mess. 3.) Immediately after getting out of the shower I apply a leave in conditioner, hair cream, or hair serum in my hair. I gently run it through. Then I apply some hair gel or mousse, I prefer hair gel. This actually works really good. I just use a small amount of hair gel, I like to use the extra hold ones, then I rub it in my hands and then gently run it through my hair. On really humid days or days when I'm going to blow dry I will put extra gel in my hair. Then if I'm going to blow dry my hair I will spray on a thermal protectant spray. I usually let my hair dry naturally though! 4.) I use a lot of leave in conditioners, oils, and homemade hair masks once in a while. I will put these in my hair and then do household tasks, tan, sleep, or other things. I must be doing something right with my hair. I always get tons of compliments on my hair. My best friend always tells me I look perfect. The number one compliment about my hair that I have received from many people is that I have "Doll Hair" They say my hair looks like a dolls hair or Barbies hair. That is a huge compliment. If you look at a doll they have shiny, smooth, lustrous, almost princess like hair. Therefore I think this concoction will help you get "doll like" hair too. Keep in mind that I also eat a lot of vegetables, eat healthy, and drink a lot of water, which helps my hair naturally look better too. And I don't blow dry my hair or straighten it often, and I hardly ever dye it.
I love the Got2b product called "Smoothing Lotion" I did a review on my blog. I absolutely love this stuff it non greasy, cheap, cute packaging, great smell, keep hair down and very light weight. http://jmtjm.blogspot.com/2009/05/i-recently-purchased-got2b-smoothing.html
This company is totally devoted to curly hair. I haven't tried it yet, but my friends rave about it. Their hair looks much healthier & NO FRIZZ. I was hoping that Ulta Beauty would carry it, but they never heard of it. It's been out for a few years. I saw it at a hair show in Dallas.http://www.ouidad.com/?sc=ppc_GT1_OUITTR_TRMK

I am really loving the Carol's Daughter Hair Milk, no frizz, gentle soft curls, and no tangles. I put it on very wet hair - maybe just a light blot with towel and then twist my hair up in a micro fiber turban for a half hour to an hour then just shake it out and use my fingers to seperate and scrunch a bit.
Ive said this in a different post but Garnier Fructus anti-frizz serum! Its good! and I have wayy crazy frizzy hair

I love that you love your curly hair--I used to hate mine, too. Staying healthy definitely makes a difference! One thing though: brushing hair while it is wet is a bad idea. Hair is more fragile and breakable when it is wet and can be easily damaged by a brush being pulled through it!

I just got a sample of that stuff! I like it a lot but the first time I think I got too excited and used too much--it turned me into a grease ball and my hair/skin is never greasy so clearly I was overzealous.

Oh my gosh, I could talk FOREVER about curly hair products--but I won't. I'll try to keep it short. My hair is 3a-3b curly, I believe.Definitely check out the reviews on naturallycurly.com.Have you ever tried Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner? I like Frederic Fekkai's Glossing Cream, but I also have to use a gel. Sunsilk's Captivating Curls Defrizz leave in isn't too bad for a really inexpensive option; I'd probably add a gel or mousse, though.Good luck! Let us know about your progress. I'm always wanting to know about the good, bad, and ugly of curly hair products!
MOUSE!!! I love Mouse! It is definittally a stapel to my curly frizzy hair.I buy the hard core kind but there are plenty of mouse's that are softer and have a good hold.Ive tried all kinds of haor products. Gels, Serums, Mouse, Creams, Sprays, Leave insAnd mouse is my absolute must have hair product for my curly unruly hair!

A good haircut that's right for your hair type changes everything from texture to the way your hair curls.. it did mine! Now I just use Paul Mitchell Conditioning Sculpting foam (it's not a volumizing mousse, so don't worry!)

I have the same issues. My hair is thick, too thick, really, porous and naturally curly. If I am not straightening (which takes almost 2 hours, start to finish, from the time I start blow-drying), I have to use lots of different products, and the best ones for my type of hair are pretty pricey, I have found. I like Moroccan oil, then I use Living Proof for coarse, thick, hair. It's expensive for the amount you have to use, but nothing works better. It's unreal how well it works. And then I use some serum, and some spray, and sometimes some curl cream as well. Also some leave-in conditioner, but I find that the drugstore stuff works well enough.
I'm a naturally curly girl myself, and I literally swear by co-washing, and using oil based products. I'm not talking mineral oil, which is what is in most products that contain oil. I mean coconut oil, olive oil, pretty much any oil that hair actually absorbs. I co wash daily, I only shampoo about once a week. And I use Frederic Fekkai's Glossing Cream, Wen conditioner as a leave in and agadir argan oil. That's literally all I use, and my hair has never looked better.
