Share your excercise goals!

Hey ladies :) Thought it would be cool if some of us buff ladies shared our exercise goals :) I just started working out regularly w/some of my coworkers and it really gets me motivated! Hopefully we can motivate each other as well.My goals: To FINISH a half marathon this weekend. My first ever, and I haven't really been training but I'll mostly walk it. In the fall, my goal is to mostly run it (more than 50% total, but hopefully closer to 75%-100% running).

this is a great idea... sharing motivation is a great thing.my goals: by my 25th birthday next month not only be under 200lbs for the first time since i was muuuch younger but be able to jog a full mile. i tend to speed walk it but i'd like to have the stamina and endurance to actually jog because it's very therapeutic to me. i would also love by christmas to do the infamous vegas santa run. the past couple of years i've just walked it but i'd like to enter the 5k or even 3k and run most of it or even jog.
Good luck bluedevilkitty! I was motivated the other night by misstrishdelish's post. My goal is to workout at least 3 times a week and lose 25 pounds.

:) thanks natalia315 and good luck to you and bluedevilkitty
My excercise goal is to make excercise become part of my lifestyle. I've always been able to eat whatever I want and stay skinny, but ask me to run even a couple of feet or lift something real heavy and i just can't do it! I'm just not in good shape and excercise has never been a habit for me. I want to go home and not dread doing my 30 day shred dvd or going for a run, but look forward to it and feel weird if I don't have time to fit in some excercise. My metabolism is starting to slow down and it's starting to show, so I need to get into this habit now.
misstrishdelish and natalia315, I really like your goals about # of days/week and about what you can accomplish! Those are great! For me, I get frustrated by not seeing results on the scale soon enough, so while there is a magic weight number I'd love to get to, I personally try not to focus on it too much, because I totally lose motivation. (It works well for some people though!) My first mini goal that I recently met was to run/jog for 30 minutes straight and I felt so good meeting that goal :)And YAY Fabulously Thrifty!!! you can do it!! :) It definitely can be hard trying to "like" excercise.

It's all screwed up thanks to vacation :PBUT it's usually a half an hour of either treadmill, exercise bike, or wii fit daily. It's actually supposed to be an hour for people my age, but I don't have the time. I would love to loose 10 pounds, but that's too much work (for me). I don't play sports also. High school sports are rigorous O.O
And it usually happens only 5 times a week.
Thank you! bluedevilkitty I totally understand what you mean about not seeing results on the scale! I used to be that way too, try not getting on the scale as much and go by inches lost. Its a lot more motivating!

I'm impressed by anyone who can run a marathon! I intend to shed a few pounds so I can reach my ideal weight. I need to tone parts of my body because they're starting to get flabby. I'm trying to do some running around my village and do some weight resistance exercises.
bluedevilkitty - thanks :) haha yeah i know constantly trying to keep track or trying not to for that matter is so hard! i get easily discouraged too especially with no music or not having fun even if its just being able laugh at how silly i'm sure i look doing some of the workouts haha.xemailheather - omg i know holidays and vacations just ruin it all haha. i'm hoping that for my birthday next month i don't let that ruin me!fabulously thrifty - just blow us away you go girl! that's an awesome goal!nina0205 - i hate flabby parts i need to tone too. great that i myself have lost alot but the toning part is a pain that i hate.best of luck to all on the goals :)
xemailheather--good luck getting back into the workout routine after your vacation! :-P really, a whole hour for people your age?! that's a LOT! I usually only end up working out 3x/wk for about 45-60 min. I am *trying* to work out 5x/wk though.nina--unfortunately, my weigh-ins were a month apart :( haha, but the inches is a great idea! I need to measure myself soon so I can start seeing improvement!! :) i just came back from the half-marathon just an hour ago--MAN IT WAS LONG! I walked most of it, but am hoping that by October's half-marathon, I'll be doing a lot of running, and then walking&running a marathon next year? I better get crackin'!Keep up the good work, ladies! :)

I was doing about 4 ballet classes a week for excercise from before Christmas to late spring. Then I fell off the wagon, which I usually do for a couple of months out of the year. I would really love to start doing Pilates again. I have a 25 minute pilates workout that I have done for years. I know it so well, I can do it from memory and it is very effective. I am pretty happy with my weight right now, but I miss working out and pilates gives such beautiful muscle length and tone. The muscle tone from all of those ballet classes hasn't deserted me yet so my motivation is not very high. I'm sure I'll regret it if I don't start soon. Thanks for bringing up the topic.
Indi
my goal is to go walking for an hour 3 times a week
hi indi! Thanks for sharing your goals :) Personally, I feel like telling people my goals makes me feel more motivated to work toward them/more guilty when I don't :-P Good luck getting back on the workout wagon. It's really hard to get started, in my opinion. But you can do it!rowandamia-good goal! :) That's a lot of walking.

my goal is to slim down b/c i am at my heaviest and don't enjoy it one biti don't limit myself on foods but i promised to drink a lot of water (i usually drink sweet drinks) and add more saladsi also try not to eat late at night anymore because its so comfortable but deadly to do that!

My goal is to be healthier. More water, more fruits and veggies, more non meat meals, less refined sugar and flours. And more exercise. And I find that meditating helps as well.
I really fell of the health and fitness wagon at the end of the spring semester (I'm an MBA student). And then two weeks at home with my mother doesn't help because we tend to derail each other! So I came back from summer schoo, signed up for a 6:30am spin class with a buddy (who bailed on me this morning - but I still went!). I shoot for 4-5 days a week doing SOMETHING in the gym (I'm loving water fitness class in the outdoor pool right now!).Also, 6 days a week I track my calories, excercise, and water consumption on www.dailyplate.com and give myself a pass on 7. It really helps me be conscious of empty grazing and to plan my meals better.

Everyone has really awesome goals! Bluedevilkitty-I agree! I totally feel like telling someone else your goal and writing it down makes it more likely to stick. That way it's always in your face and there is always someone there to remind us to get our butts up!
Nice job ladies :) Everyone has great goals.Agrimony and MyOwnJudge--like you ladies, I'm not on calorie counting plan or anything, and am not going to extreme in changing my eating habits right now because I won't stick to them if I do. I'm starting small, by eating less (stopping when I'm full), eating more fruits and veggies (and less carbs, just because I am a refined carb feind, but I'm not ready to give up my lovely white pastas just yet!), and less crap (chips, Ding Dongs, etc).
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
also, FYI, I'm on theDailyPlate now too--I was using sparkpeople to track my exercise and food, but theDailyPlate is really easy.

Mine's pretty simple, but I'm usually INACTIVE. Like, completely. I'm terrible :\ My goal is just to lose 5 lbs by exercising 30+ minutes every day! Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up all through summer so I can start school feeling and looking fabulous :)
xoxo
good goal sweetxsoul :) How are everyone else's goals coming along? My goals: I'm hoping to run all of a half marathon in Oct...Two weeks ago I ran 4 miles, which is more than I've run all at once in a long long time (couple of years?). I had been up to 3 mi. I'm thinking of getting one of those Garmin GPS watches to track my run... I'm not very motivated to run by myself or outside b/c I feel like I've been running forever and it'll only have been 1/2 a mile! Has anyone tried it?Some friends of mine use the Nike/iPod thingie, which is less accurate b/c it measures based on stride length (and my stride varies a lot). I know I'll want to get a Garmin eventually, so I figure I'll just wait, not buy the Nike/iPod thing and save it towards a Garmin... Anyone get a good deal on one? Might try and see if I can get it on ebay, but am nervous about doing that!!

First of all congratulations to all of you ladies who are trying to make a difference and get healthier! You should all be proud of yourselves!I have a fitness goal too! I have always been pear shaped, and right now my measurements are 34-29-42. Ugh, I am very unhappy with the size of my hips right now. I bought my wedding dress a couple of months ago and it fits, but it's a bit tight on the hips. My wedding is in April and my goal is that, by the time I have to go for my dress fitting, it won't need to be let out and I'll have lost a few inches off of my hips! It will feel so good knowing I did it through hard work!I tend to gain most of my extra weight on my hips and thighs, while I've always been more slender on top. I really want to tone up my thighs and butt. Does anyone have any exercises they think I should try? I want to be careful to not neccessarily build more muscle on my hips and thighs -- they're thick enough!! -- but to shed some of the weight and tone up a bit.Any insight would be welcome!
If you don't want to add muscle, then the best thing to do would probably to make sure you're getting enough cardio (if your goal is reducing inches). But don't skip out on weights! Doing weights all over, with many reps at lower weight will also help tone without bulking up. You want your body to be balanced, and getting some buff arms will help you look less pearlike. :) Women's health magazine, both online and in print, has some great workout routines. They even have a "workout for your body shape" routine:http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/best-workout-for-your-body-typeCongrats on your upcoming wedding! How exciting :D

Thank you so much! That is so true about the cardio. Does fast-paced walking count as cardio? I love going on long walks with my Mom :D!! I will also definitely check out that link you gave me, bluedevilkitty. And thanks for the congrats about the wedding -- I'm getting super excited!
Faced paced walking does count as exercise! :) If you're serious about getting in shape, I strongly recommend being careful about what you eat too. I "cheat" a lot, but now I'm careful about smaller treats, and less often. I keep track of my food calories and exercise progress on thedailyplate at livestrong.com. It's free and I've been using it about 3 weeks, and upped my exercise--I've lost 4 lbs already, I feel healthier, and eat better :)

This topic is great! Its inspiring to read everyone's goals and to know I'm not the only one out there trying to lose some weight. I'm like you Fabulously Thrifty..I've always been slim but since I'm no longer in gym class every day and soccer every week like in high school I've slowly been putting on the pounds and my muscle is dissolving into fat! I also have pretty bad eating habits and I'm pleased to say that I've already lost 5lbs just by cutting out the crap and reducing my portion sizes. My next step is to actually EXERCISE each day, whether it be taking the dog for a long walk or doing a quick workout. I just wish I could stop making excuses and actually get down to it.
miraye, it's so easy to make excuses about working out :( I still do all the time. I only end up working out because I have a workout buddy. She isn't much more inspired to workout than I am, but between the two of us, we almost have the willpower! :P We have a few more workout buddies now too, and knowing that someone is always counting on us to come work out helps motivate me a lot. I wish more Megettes lived near me, so we could have our own workout group!! (We could do a poledancing class, like Goddess Granny!)

I definitely think its important to watch what you eat, for sure, in moderation. I have never really been into junkfood but do spoil myself every now and then. Has anyone ever read French Women Don't Get Fat? It's a great book and a really practical approach to dieting and living healthy, I think.
My goals are to eat regular healthy meals 3x a day (instead of just one big meal at dinner), and get back into exercising regularly. Cardio for at least 30 minutes every day, and strength training every other day. I get sick easily and have a lot of weird health issues, so I'd like to do what I can to make myself healthy. My weight doesn't bother me, but I'd like to loose a few inches around my waist/hips, and a lot of excess fat on my upper thighs. And toned upper arms would be nice, preferably before my wedding next year.
Great thread. :) My exercise goal is to exercise 30 minutes three-four times per week. I don't really want to lose weight, I'd just like to be more toned, feel stronger (I feel so pathetic when I need to catch my breath after a few flights of stairs), and feel healthier. My immune system is really bad that I sometimes make jokes about needing to be placed in a bubble, and I'm sure that regular exercise will help.I'm also starting my master's program in the fall, and I know I'll be stressed out and busy, so getting into a routine for exercise before the excuses start coming is really important to me.
my goal is to exercise enough to turn all that remaining fat into muscle! rawr! haha, just kidding. my arms are like little noodles and my legs are very muscular, so i want to even everything out. i hate pushups but i do planks so my stomach and arms can we worked on at the same time :)
Emeliee, I am sort of like that too, much stronger on my bottom half, that's because I'm a pear. But I want to tone all around!
My exercise goal is to actually do any at all...lately I've been failing at that haha!!
Ref26, I know how you feel. I've been so busy lately (moving to a new apartment with my fiance, travelling 8 hours for a trip recently (8 hours BOTH ways, so 16 in total!) that it's been hard to find time to exercise! But I will try!
my goal is to actually finish P90X this time. I've started and stopped a few times now.
Good goals ladies! :) You can do it :P I'm a little worried because I'm going on a 10 day trip and don't think the hotel has a gym :( uuugh. Getting motivated to work out will be hard.
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
I don't have an exercise yet lol but I SHOULD =)
Chloe http://thehollywoodheels.blogspot.com
I'm worried too because I'm in my brother's wedding party. We're Scottish so I'll be wearing a pleated skirt (down to my knees or just below) but it even made the model's butt look a bit big... and my hips are like 40 inches! Ah! I want to get toned before then, but it's in September. I'll try!
Finishing a half marathon with a decent time is my goal to. That's what I'm going to work towards this year.
mileena, that's awesome! Too bad we don't live near each other :( I've been kind of a slacker and took 4 days off this week. Today, I need to go on a short run (at the very least), but it's hot out. :(

wow. good luck to all. Me myself im trying to lose weight and tone my body areas. I have a big bust and a booty. so most say im thick. but i when i gain its goes to my belly and my thighs so i cant stand it. I was like 95lbs @ age 16 yeah i know that was then... so then at 21 i was @ 125lbs and i was happy there being a size 7. ive always had a toned body but after my 2 kids i fell apart. Im not weighting 180 and that shit aint pretty. I wear a size 12-14 depending on the brand but im not happy no matter how much say i look good cuz all my meat is in the right place. ive never been this big and really dont like it. So what i have started was I walk everyday at least an hour or till i reach 3 miles. I started out just walking and then moved to speed walking. At times i do in the morning and then again in the evening. I have recently tried to start jog and walk cuz i have to break myself in i cant just jog dont wann drop dead just yet. but when i was joggin i have to say at the end of my workout it felt so good. so with doing that I also play on the wii which is alot of body movement, i at times do taebo as well as that really worked for me in the past as something you enjoy it will be more fun and you will want to do. I cut the caffine drinks if i must only one a day. I drink more water, i cut the rice eat more fruits and i dont eat after 7p. my goal is to get back to 125lbs yeah thats alot thats 60 lbs but as long as you stay motivated and stick to the plan anything is possible. its hard i know i feel like slackin at times but i look at my motivation pic ( kim kardashian in her underwear) and im like ok im going... thats my motivation to go so that i can achieve a body like that again. another thing you want to try is cleansing green teas. i drink those 2 times a day and makes you poo alot but its all toxic waste in your body u know and that later drops weight, then when you do go walk or jog they have this creme you rub on your areas of interest its called sweet sweat. you rub that where you want to work on and use a sweat suit and go for your walk/jog/run and when you are done you take off the suit and all the water will just pour out the suit and that will drop you in lbs as in most of us its water weight.... try it out....sorry so long ladies just wanted to share with you all. mahalo.

Olena, sounds like you're on the right track! I hated running at first too, and definitely had to ease into it. :)
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
Oh my gosh I wouldn't even know. I have joined a brand new gym and it is set to open next weekend.I'm not much of a runner, so I don't know how I'd set a goal which isn't running!I guess I just want to be healthier and fitter and everything just a little bit tighter. Being able to make it through spin class?? Haha.Ok. Jokes aside I hope to make it to the gym twice a week and do one aerobic class and one mind class (ie. yoga etc). I already dance twice a week.Fingers crossed!! :)
yea takes alot to see yummy stuff but fight it cuz just one brownie would ruin it all. lol
~~ Luv & Respect, Olena ~~
http://jmedeiros.mymarkstore.com
Olena--I struggle with that mentality, because it's so easy to make a mistake or not work out and then feel like all of your work went to pot.But it's important to remember that my body didn't get this way in a day or even a week, or even a month! It took awhile and gradually got this way, and it will take awhile for me to gradually get it where I want it to be. I definitely allow myself to indulge but try to keep those treats small (like one bite instead of one whole treat, etc).
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
Blue, ooh yeah i do as well but just cant go above what you want you know... otherwise you dont wanna feel like you worked hard for nothing.... but i feel good and know it will take a while to see results but just never give up
