Shampoo Shopping

I'm in the market for a new shampoo & conditioner. I need it to de-frizz, hydrate, smooth, shine, and be good to color-treated hair. It's a tall order, I know. I've been using Halo but I am open to others. I really want to buy some Phyto, but I won't let myself because I know I'm going to France in August and its WAYYYYYY cheaper there.

Any suggestions?
Katie
I am not sure how you feel about Paul Mitchell. I believe he has a whole line for color treated smooth hair. It sounds like you may need a smaller travel bottle since you can buy Phyto when you get there. I would check out what they have a ulta if you have one near you. They are having a BIG SALE.
My mom swears by the ISO conditioner w/the yellow cap. She dyes her hair at home all the time and says it leaves her hair super smooth and shiny.

Hmmm...I don't know how you feel about drugstore shampoos, but I love Dove. Their Color Repair Therapy and their Intense Damage Therapy are both good. They make my hair feel a lot smoother and healthier. The color repair shampoo is also safe on dyed hair which is nice.
Because my hair is so coarse and dry, and getting more so since I had additional highlights put in, I use shampoo that I find in the ethnic hair care section. I find that it's more moisturizing, and tames my hair somewhat.
My two favorites are Pureology and Wen. Definitely keep me posted on the Phyto though.

I just washed my hair with creme of nature (it's a line of ethnic haircare) for dry/damaged hair, and then mixed their leave-in conditioner with some curl cream, and I'm letting it air dry. I can already tell that my ends are less crunchy.
I definitely recommend Pureology Hydrate. I noticed a huge difference after 1 shampoo. It preserves color and moisturizers/defrizzes without weighing my hair down. They sell mini travel sizes for 8 bucks a piece if you want to give it a try without buying the full size.
Hey Kate,I am not sure if you have an Ulta near you. They are having a big shampoo sale starting July 5. My ad says this is for select Matrix and Redkin Liters and they are 13.99 each. There is also an Ulta coupon in this add for $3.50 off any purchase of $10 or more. (I am not sure if you can use this with the liters or not.)Good Luck!
Yeah, I was in Ulta yesterday (before my coupon started) - but I always wander around aimlesslesly and end up buying what I had before. Any of the matrix/bioloage products tended to make my hair greasy and gunky and Redken made it look dull and not shiny. I LOVED the Jessicurl TooShea conditioner when I was using it....
Katie
Matrix/Bioloage did the same thing to my hair, and Redken make my hair yucky and unmanageable. I did have luck w/ Pureology years ago... I really want to try John Masters and Wen. Finding a good shampoo and conditioner is hard.
The L'Oreal Ever Pure line or the Aveeno Nourish + line. Try using some serums and such in your hair if your shampoo/conditioner doesn't give you everything you need!
ive heard good things about aveeno. also john frieda may have something u like as far as frizz concerns.

I love Redken Smooth Down there is also another one in a dark purple bottle, I can't remember the name but it also works. Both are for dry, frizzy and fragile hair
I love my pureology shampoo! Especially the hydrate products because they take away all the pesky frizzies.
I'm Pureology hydrate shampoo and conditioner fan too. Expensive stuff but a little goes a long way. It leaves my long colored hair soft and shinny without weighing down. I have lots of hair but it's fine and this works great. Keeps my color looking fresh until it's time for roots to get done. I love the minty smell it leaves in my hair.
I've heard a lot of good buzz about the L'Oreal Everpure line. Unfortunately, since I have virgin hair, I don't really have anything to suggest to you from personal experience as that has never been an issue for me.I am currently using the Suave Vibrant Shine line, and it's excellent! So for any girls out there who don't have colored hair, and are looking for a CHEAP but amazing shampoo, check it out!
xoxo
I will definitely try the Pureology shampoo, but what I would recommend for your hair once or twice a week is the Fekkai Protein Rx Anti-Breakage Mask. It makes hair supersoft and shiny and definitely takes away all frizzness. A nice treat for your hair once in a while:-).

I just went back to phyto, even if you buy some while in France, I would still get some now, it may cost more, but you'll have a head start on awesome hair! The Phytospecific mask is totally amazing. It changes your hair after just one use!
I swear by the Paul Mitchell Smoothing System. Its good for all of those, smells as delicious as the cheap drug store shampoos I miss since coloring my hair and REDUCES DRYING TIME. Best hair care system ever.
Love and Lipgloss,

Just an advise though: NEVER, I mean never ever, try the Hydralicious Shampoo by Herbal Essences (purple bottle)!!! Although it says on the bottle, it's moisturizing, it left my hair in a knotted brittle mess:-((. I never had such a bad shampoo experience. I love the Pureology Hydrate line though, it's fantastic!!I'm about to try the PAUL MITCHELL "Moisture" line tomorrow. I will report back asap:-).

I only use drugstore shampoo and my hair is fine, I guess it's not too picky. Herbal Essences are my favorite, I love the scents! They have all sorts of different categories, too, which is nice, I'm not sure how effective they are for anything beyond normal hair, though.
Probably I got problems with it because my hair is heavily dyed. It's healthy though (again) and HE just not may be for everybody. I totally agree:-).

I would recommend Matrix Sleek. Great line of hair products for frizzy hair! I use it personally (& have been for years) and love it!
Sounds very good...do you get it at a drugstore? Maybe I never paid attention to it, but I guess I've never seen it, lol.

I will though definitely look for it when I go shopping tomorrow:-).

I agree with brittneyk... dove is amazing!

Ive tried samples of dove and they seem to work for me
Artec Kiwi coloreflector shampoo :)it smells so yummy and makes my hair really soft! you can find it at Ulta.
Enrica, what brands are you using? I'd like to try black haircare again but I really cannot handle the buildup that I got from Pink Oil
you could check the curlmart.....i would suggest looking for shampoos that have no sulfates or low sulfates and no silcones.there are some products on there that can be used on any hair group but you can see which ones do not have sulfates, silicones etc...
I just simply love head and shoulders!
If you loved the Jessicurl Too Shea! then you'll probably like her shampoos too. She's got great products.
Aveeno is really nice stuff! So far I have just tried a sample of it that I got in the mail but I was amazed at how soft and nice my hair was.

Hey, King Taco, I just read your post now, sorry. The brand I have been using is called "creme of nature", they recently changed the packaging, I get it in the ethnic hair care section at my local CVS. It's very cheap, and the lemongrass rosemary leave in conditioner is pretty great.
I've been using Paul Mitchell Moisture shampoo, I'm really loving it.. i did buy the Joico the one for color treated hair.. I like it and everything but it seems when i blow dry my hair my hair feels funny, but doesn't look greasy, i'm going to give it another try tho!
MeLlY
Thank you Erica! I will check it out. Rosemary lemongrass sounds positively delicious
I also recommend the Aveeno Nourish line, it works surprisingly well. Also Aveda Shampure or Smooth Infusion line.
I absolutely love anything by Fekkai, though it cost a bit more, it really seems to work especially their smoothing cream.

Pantene-PRO V. Cannnot go wrong with any of these shampoos nor conditioners! FUN FACT: Washing your hair in COOL water helps from fading your hair color!
"Washing your hair in COOL water helps from fading your hair color!"It also seals the cuticle and helps protect hair making it smoother and shinier.

Try using Tresemme! I get a big bottle (about a liter) for $3 on sale, and it works really really well! I have the Smooth & Silky shampoo & conditioner. I have used a LOT of different brands and I think I finally found one I'm going to stick with.
