Just found this out! Too sad. He is such an iconic figure in film. He may not have been considered a great actor but his roles in numerous "classic" films have brought smiles to many faces, tears to many an eye, and got a lot of people dancing!!! I will miss him. Who will keep Baby out of the corner now that he is gone? I hope that he had the time of his life! My condolences go out to his wife and mother.

I just saw this. So sad. I still remember when "Dirty Dancing" came out on VHS my mom completely wore out her first copy and had to buy another one. And does anyone else here remember the time he was on SNL with Chris Farley, and they did this bit about both of them auditioning to be a Chippendale's dancer? It makes me laugh just remembering it. I hope he went peacefully, and at least he's no longer suffering. He fought a good fight, and I admire that.
That is my favorite SNL skitg ever. Seriously!!! It makes me smile like crazy! Even if I just hear the Loverboy song "Everybody's Working for the Weekend" that was playing in the skit I laugh. What a good memory of him!
I just saw a movie a few days ago (rented ) called "Keeping Mum" with him in it, it may have been his last movie. It's an interesting movie, not the greatest but it will keep your interest, worth watching. I have loved him since Dirty Dancing.
it's so sad that he passed away
I heard his song "She's Like the Wind" on the radio yesterday and I shouted out, WOLVERINES!I've never actually seen Dirty Dancing. But Point Break? Many, many times. Many times.
That's terribly sad. But he fought a looong time for pancreatic cancer. There really isn't much chance of survival with that type. My granddad died from it within like six months of a diagnosis.
I am very very very sad right now I feel like I lost my firts Love I was young when i saw Dirty Dancing for the first time and I remeber how admirative I was he was so handsome and talented...This is my favorit movie all time and I am very very sad ( I repeat myself)...Bye Bye Johnny Castel...

My prayers go out to his family. I know I loved Dirty Dancing as a kid. My bf's daughter now is a fanatic for it and has completely worn it out. LOL. My boss is even wearing black today because she swears that she was going to marry him one day. (we can all dream) I hope that the press can let his family mourn in peace.
Lovely man,he will be missed....funny,I loved him in "Roadhouse" with San Elliot more than the other movies he was so iconic in.And I still sob at the end of "Ghost" every time I watch it.Peace to his family.
I loved it in Ghost OMG I had strong feelings for him lol...=( very touched !

Patrick...what fun, life, emotion and spirit he brought to movies. I will truly miss him and will never, ever turn off Roadhouse any time it shows up on TV. We all loved him and wish the best for his family and friends.Another wonderful person...gone too soon. But we are all the more richer for having seen him on screen and letting him dance our way into our hearts.
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Dirty Dancing and Ghost were two of my favorite films growing up, as they'll always be. I read that the reason he had wanted to play Sam in Ghost so badly was because the script made him cry a number of times. He wasn't just one of those actors that does it all for the publicity and attention and money, but for love of acting. He didn't even take painkillers while working on The Beast (his last project), because he didn't want it to 'take the edge off his performance'.He will definitely be missed.
Point Break rules!
