Need some ideas for my 13 yo sisters christmas gift!

Hi everyone. My little sister just turned 13. My mother passed away 4 years ago so my father is raising her. Well he won't let her do any makeup or anything wierd like that, so I think for christmas I would like to get her a VERY simple, VERY neutral makeup pallete or kit of some sort.Any suggestions on a good one?

when i was 13 my aunt bought my sister and i these manicure kits that come with all sorts of goodies (buffer, file, nude polish and pink polish, base and top coat, moisturizer, etc). maybe something like that??I am very sorry about your mother--what a wonderful big sister you are:)

Hello,I would buy somthing from Everyday Minerals, they have natural lips balm and everything is naturals I think it's what a 13 year old girl needs =)

I would try Wet N Wild's palette in browns. I was floored by this palette when I received it as a gift. It's now my go to. They are great everyday colors. I would also get her a wonderful bath set with soaps and lotions from BBW.
I agree with Gigglebunny--WnW has some decent products that won't break the bank and are appropriate for girls your sister's age.A tinted moisturizer might be a good idea instead of foundation? ELF makes a pretty decent one. Makeup brushes: Ecotools or ELF studio line. Good tools make a difference! And these are affordable yet quality. Studio Tools is also a decent brand.Hard Candy just came out with some affordable, fun and glittery products. You'll want to show her how to apply them so the look doesn't get too crazy! They also have some nice neutral eye shadows, and tinted moisturizer, sheer lipglosses and face primer.

Oh yea the hard candy at walmart is good!! And a tinted moisturizer is an awesome idea. I didnt want to go as far am foundation. And will definitally check out some wet and wild!
Love all the ideas! Bath stuff you cant go wrong with and manicure kits sound fun!

You are a very thoughtful sister and I am sure anything you come up with she would love. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I would go with a good quality natural line like EDM. But also I would get her a little trunk case to hold her new make-up in. In Canada they sell them at a kiosk in the mall. I am sure in the states you can get them anywhere. Also another good idea would be a really nice journal ( diary) That you can inscribe on the inside flap...so she can write in it and always remember it was from you!

You should check out Sephora or Ulta. There are many, many new palettes and gift sets out because of the holiday season. Sephora actually has a few that are pretty inexpensive, there are a couple that are only $15!

I think any mineral makeup for a kid is tough...it can be messy and harder to blend? Also color matching is a bugger,LOL!I agree that maybe something simple from Sephora or even some nice skin products like a tinted moisturiser and pretty lipgloss? Some of the "Wet and Wild" palettes are fun and cheap and that way,if your Dad "protests" you won't feel awful you spent so much on color...I'd do a pretty makeup bag or kit full of lipgloss, clear mascara, nail pretties,a tinted moisturiser (Stila's is fabulous!) and go easy on the color until you are "sure." Add a sweet scent and you'll be the BEST sis ever, trust me! :) I shop for my 12 yr. old granduaghter a lot and it's such a fine-line between "growing up" and "too much..." I'd go easy on the glitz for now, maybe just some fairy-dust.SO sorry for you loss,it has to be ver hard and many kuddos to your Dad and to you for loving this special girl so much!
true mineral makeup would be difficult for her to get the hold of.Ive deciding on definitally a tinted moisturizer with some sheer coverage. Lippies, nude/ neutral eyeshodow, clear mascara and hmm... mabey a little more!

You should check out some of the stuff on www.cherryculture.com website. They have a range of products and brands. Everything is very affordable and a lot of the stuff is packaged and aimed toward younger gals. But it is very good quality, I know because I use some of the stuff.
You should get her just a few really natural eyeshadows and then get her elf brushes, she'll seem really grown up because she will be using propper brushes! Tell her its really proffesional! Im really sorry about your mother, and I know if that happened to me i'd want a big sister to talk to and confide in!

i dont know. she's 13 so she doesnt need too much. ive picked up bonnebelle lip glosses for my twelve-year-old niece. she asked for mascara and i just got her clear so she could basically just comb through her lashes. if you want to get her some subtle shadows, i agree with wet n wild or some other drugstore pallette. maybe maybelline or covergirl even. and what about e.l.f? plus u could always get her something from beautyticket.com if you wanted her to have brands that you would use at a deep discount.

How about some lip gloss..thats not too much makeup and girls that age do wear em! Or maybe some organic or natural bath salts or hand cream. Sorry to hear about your Mom; but you are a great big sister!
Stilla have the coolest thing out now its a huge beauty case with lotsof nicesubtle product and brushes, mirror and this function where you can download instruction videos about makeup application -hard to explain its I think $64.99 for all(bot product alone adds up tp $145 andit comes already loaded with some vids http://stillabeautytube.com/.

But 13 is the ideal time to have fabulous glittery eyeshadow/mascara and brightly coloured fingernails! And a lipbalm with a scent for all of her friends to sniff and marvel at. At 13 she's a baby teen! There's heaps of time to grow up and become sensible and boring with neutrals, but 13 is about being fun and brightly coloured!
when I was 13 I used to love a bit of sparkle on my face - not too grown up but not too childish! I agree with the wet 'n wild or some fairy dust, maybe some fun flavoured lip glosses. I don't think she needs foundations or cover-ups yet, I'm sure her skin is young and beautiful and she should be showing it off rather than covering it up!

I agree with lucky_trio that 13 is a time to be fun and bright, but if her father isn't keen on makeup then bright eyeshadow probably won't go over well. I realize you've probably already picked her presents by now since you asked this question months ago, but maybe just a range of bright-colored nail polishes would be okay with dad? You could get a manicure set like malilala said, and throw in some crazy polishes on the side. Fun-flavored lip glosses and funky nails never hurt anyone!
My little sister is 14, but she's not a makeup kind of girl. I bought her some tinted lip balms one year, and I don't think she even opened them. She's really into sports, so I figured she must shower often. This year I'm giving her some nice Philosophy bath products, though she probably won't open them either.
I'd check out E.L.F. I remember seeing these cute lip gloss sets (similar to Stila's lip glazes) in Target. They would be really sheer and shiny, which I think is totally appropriate. Nail polish is definitely safe for a 13 year old. I'd get some cool funky colors from OPI or China China glaze. As for other makeup, I would go with Jane. They were one of the first brands I REALLY got into. They have nice tinted moisturizers, subtle blushes/bronzers, and a wide array of eye shadows and they're definitely at a nice price point.
The Ulta kits at Ulta Stores are wonderful. They got everything one would need and they work. They blend well, last a long time, you can wet to darken the color. There is blush, bronzer, tons of eye makeup, pencils, lip pencils, gloss and lipstick. They come in a train case for under $20. I got three for myself and love them. Jane cosmetics are suppose to be at Walmart now and they are another great inexpensive brand. NYX falls in that category too.
