LUSH saves the seals!
Okay, so I think this is awesome. Lush has a new campaign to stop Canada's commercial hunting of baby seals, and guess how they're doing it? A new bubble bar called "First Swim"! Lime, lavender, coconut, and seaweed- and all of the proceeds go to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to stop the hunting of baby seals.
Here's a little bit from their website about the Canadian Seal Hunt:
"This year alone more than 338,200 seals will be killed (many of which are only a couple of weeks old), in the largest mass slaughter of marine mammals in the world. Governments around the globe, including the US, have spoken out against Canada's seal hunt. The seal hunt is essentially government sanctioned cruelty to animals. Recent polls show that nearly 69% of Canadians and nearly 80% of Americans are opposed to the seal hunt. Yet, the government continues to spend millions of Canadian taxpayers dollars to help support it."

Ooo that bar sounds wonderful! I recently ordered a ton of stuff from Lush, and I have loved every single thing. My favorite is this cinnamon soild shampoo they have. It's supposed to help your hair grow - and so far it has! Thanks for the great post.
This in unconscionable. I just can't believe it and will be investing in a little First Swim myself. In this day and age...scary that these things are still going on.
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
thanks for the info. can this be found in the U.S. brick and mortar stores? i need to pick up some lemony flutter next week, and i need to make my 15% off coupon worth it.
I haven't tried any Lush yet (shame on me) however due to the rave reveiws that it always gets I suppose I'll have to try some soon!
Thanks for the update Vexy. I love Lush as I wrote in one of my reviews. This will give me a reason to head to beautiful Boulder, Colorado and stock up on needed items and try this new bubble bar. Keep us posted on other positive things Lush does.

Thanks Vexy for sharing with us this great cause - those poor seals. I will be investing in some First Swim because this is a great cause and this bubble bar (lime, lavender, coconut, and seaweed - yum!) sounds amazing.

i have joined the hsus and have sent letters to canada every year for the last 3 years about this cause. I have also sent letter to my local congress, food stores, restaraunts etc.... telling them that if they use any products that are affiliated with the companies that use any of the seal products that i cannot be a part of their "consumer base". I'm glad that this issue is being brought to the forefront and that everyone is getting aboard!I have only bought 3 items from lush (i went on vacation to ireland and bought it there)....and i loved them and the store smells wonderful.
That's so sad.. Like why do ppl actually need seal skin? For fashion? I think they should stop all animal fur trade..And I love Lush products so I think they're doing a really good job on animal awareness.
