I <3 Curlformers!
Do you have achingly straight hair, like me?If so, check this out: http://www.curlformers.com/englishcurlformer.htm and thank me later :D Also search Curlformers on YouTube...There are tons of how-to and result videos.I picked up 2 packs of the extra long and wide Curlformers and a hook for about $30 at Sally's last night. Yeah, not the cheapest thing ever, but about what you'd pay for a mid-grade curling iron and the results are much better with this. So I showered, washed my hair, didn't use any kind of styling product but that could only help and I will from now on, put my hair up in these, and went to bed (yes, you can sleep with them in!). This morning? Perfect curls. And they lasted ALL DAY and STILL looked good! You don't have to do the night before method, you could also wash your hair, put them in, and use a hair dryer. I'm telling you, ladies, this is a genius product!

Had to find a comparable picture since I can't find my camera, but, I swear, this loveliness is what my hair STILL looks like, right now, at the end of the day!http://herdeepestthoughts.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/serena-van-der-woo...
These look very interesting. I wonder if they would get my sister's hair to curl. She has stick straight hair that won't hold a curl made with a curling iron. I might even use them myself in a few places to get a more defined curl. I never could figure out how to use an iron...
These look funky and fun! My hair will NOT hold a curl so I'm on a hunt for them,LOL!
My hair absolutely will not hold a curl either. Like, I even had a perm fall out once! But these work!
I made the mistake of trying these on my naturally curly, coarse, thick hair. I slept in them, and the next day, had to wear a HAT to work!! I seriously looked like an overgrown blonde chia head. However, I gave them to my sister, who has straight, very fine hair, she wore them overnight, and had great curls the next day. So I think that they're great for straight haired girls who want some girl. I used them thinking I would get more defined ringlet type curls. Not so much.
They look fantastic! $30 for a mid-grade curler?? I wish!Hopefully when they get international stockist they won't be marked up too much (like everything else is). My hair never holds a curl either, its so fine and straight.
hm... I have curly hair already, bit its the little, scragly type curls.I bet It would work just the same on already curly hair. Just pop them in wet and hairspray or use some product and I could have pretty curls...:Dugh i wish I just had a sallys cause i hate ordering online

... just saw the comment on what happeded with curly hair.... lol i might still try them I can always give them to my sister too. lolalso... does the packs come with the hook thing or do you buy that seperate.

There is a big pack that comes with a bunch of different sizes of the curlers and a hook, but it's pretty expensive and the curlers would've been way too short for my hair, so I just bought individual packs and a hook on their own. If you're buying individual packs you'll need to pick up a hook too as it's not included in those.
going to check these out on youtube now! sounds great! i have really straight hair that cant hold a curl........the best thing i have found so far is the herstyler curler (and i recently found out babyliss do one very similar which has good reviews on youtube) but wow no chance of burning yourself with these just put them in and go to the land of nod, then wake up with gorgeous curls?! sounds good to me!
So I bought some of these today! I got the hook and 2 packs of the long and wide for like $27 with my Sally card. Unfortunately I'll definitely be needing another pack, this isn't enough for my whole head. I have a lot of hair! I did everything but the very top, which I can either put up or make a few curls in with my iron. I have them in now, so we'll see how they turn out!
ooOH sweet take pics!I went in a beaulty supply store the other day and asked about these. We dont have a sallys. And I always feel guilty about buying online. Cause its a conscience decision... when im.. oooh out... I can spontaniuosly buy something!

I took a silly pic of me with them in, idk how to post it here though! I had a few cute curls but it didn't come out that great overall, mostly because I think I was using too big of sections so they didn't dry completely, plus the undone top of my head kind of kills it. I'm going to buy another pack tomorrow and try again though, I can see the potential!
When I was young my Mom used to wrap my curls in rags and then I would sleep in them and have barrel curls in the morning, I guess this is the same idea. My hair is very curly but doesn't look organized, maybe these would make it look better, I would separate the curls when finished.
I have curlformers and I love them. I wish I had the time and patience to use them everyday, really. The trick to them is knowing how to take them out!!! You can't just rip the out, you have to "squeeze" (for lack of better word) the little band on the top so it opens a bit, hold the net part straight and carefully slide the down. Otherwise the curl won't be perfect; that's my experience at least...
My hair is fine and wavy and perms fall out on me too. I've tryed it 3 times and the all fell...
Thanks for the removal tip! I was just kinda yanking them out lol.
I've discovered that using a blow dryer to dry my hair with these in really isn't an option--I'd be there all day. I think it's definitely possible in general, it's just that my hair's really dense. But just putting them in to air dry overnight is OK by me. I'm thinking I need another pack too but I can get by OK on the 2 that I have :)
Oh we sell these at my work :P we actually don't sell alot of them and none of the other girls have tried them, we were all spectacle.. there pretty expensive though.. we have this kit thing it has a bunch of the formers in it with the hook and its like 80 bucks!! expensive expensive!

OMG these DO look like rag curls! My hair doesn't dry if I go to sleep with it wet, but I have a bonnet dryer...I wonder if that would work.
These sound interesting. My hair will not hold a curl, and the top half of my hair won't even curl no matter what I do! Then whatever meager curl I have managed is gone in about an hour or two.I know there are Sally's in Canada, but I have never seen one. Is it the only store that carries them? I don't want to have to order online, am not a fan of ordering things online. I was thinking of trying the new Conair you style or whatever it is called, that has cooling plates to help curl the hair into a wave. Does anyone think these would work better? The pictures on the website were very tight ringlets, can you get softer curls without waiting until the next day?
Not sure about where else they're available, but about the curls--some of the curlers available are narrow, which will give a tighter curl. The others are wide, which will give a looser curl. They each come in a few different lengths.
I think I may end up ordering or having the bf get them for me. What length did you use? I watched a tutorial of a girl who had the long ones and they seemed super long, but I am worried the short would be too short.
How long is your hair, i can check at work for you and tell you the inches if yah want!
MeLlY
Thanks! Right now it just grazes my collar bone, but it will get a few inches longer before I get it cut. I usually don't let it get longer than 2 or 3 inches below the collar bone.
My hair is really long (mid-back) and I use the extra long ones and they're fine. I might even be able to get away with just the long ones...maaaaaybe. I think the long ones would probably work for you.
Thanks for the help! I may have to order these!
My hair takes way too long to dry and I don't know if I would have the patience for this. I read about using cut up t-shirts and I might give that a try because at least that will absorb some of the extra moisture.
That is a good idea. I've heard paper bags or even paper towels work too.
I just tried culrformers last night, and I have to say I am not impressed. My hair was almost dry when I put them in, and I slept with them. First of all, it was the worst sleep ever! They are very uncomfortable to sleep in, I woke up and had to shift the curlers every time I needed to turn. It took me a while to get them in, they just kept tugging and pulling my hair without the hook actually getting the hair into the curler. I had to look up youtube videos to see that I was holding the hook too close to my head, because nothing on the package indicates where you should hold it. When I woke up this morning, the curls were very disappointing. They weren't well defined, the just sagged and hung there. My hair was a big poof of really bad curls instead of nice waves. I had to put my hair up for school since I didn't have time to wash it out.I am going to try putting them in damp hair and blow drying, I am certainly never sleeping in them again! Hopefully I will have better results that way. I really want these to work!
allmaple, I found it helps a lot if you put them in further down in your hair, like halfway. It makes it more comfortable to sleep, and gives you more nice loose curls that don't poof up. Good luck, I'm really happy with them!
WOW these look like just the type of thing I need, I too have super straight hair that will NOT hold a curl. Did they help you out at Sally with which kind to buy? the wide or short? and how many packages you might need? Maybe I just need to go look at the package at Sally and it might be easier than I think to determine just what you need? I just got a caruso hair set and with that my hair still falls flat, so I need all the help I can get!
