candles and reed diffusers, yummy!

I have discovered a line of candles that I love that are priced way better than Votivo, Paddywax, Trapp, and other lines I usually buy and love. They're called Woodwick candles and my very favorite fragrance is Currant. They burn well and even sound like a fire crackling when they burn. Since I have my precious cats and can't always burn a candle, I found that Woodwick's reed diffusers are WONDERFUL!!!! The strength of the fragrance is amazing and it lasts a long time. Try them and let me know what you think.

Thanks for telling us about these candles. Sounds like they are really good.
I love diffusers. They work well and smell amazing for a really long time. I haven't actually ever heard of this brand, but I definitely want to check them out.
Hmm I hadn't considered a diffuser before..we aren't allowed open flame in the house I'm renting during school so maybe I'll look into this!
I have some of these, they sell them at the Cracker Barrel retail store, they do burn well, and the wick is actually made of wood, which is why it crackles when you burn it. Also, hence the name...
I teach school and we aren't allowed to have candles--even unlighted ones--so reed diffusers are the way to go if you love to surround yourself with fragrance as I do. ALSO, I just went to their website (www.virginiacandle.com) and found that their diffusers are priced @ $19.99, which is $5 less than what I am used to paying for them. They last a long time and the fragrance is strong. If you aren't familiar with this line and are near a Cracker Barrel, sample the fragrances there and then order what you like from the website. When you order from the website, they'll also usually include a coupon for the next order you place. Sometimes it's a discount and sometimes it's free shipping.

This site: http://www.essential-oil-recipes.com/sitemap.html has recipes for all sorts of fragrance product. The diffuser recipes are wonderful. I just buy bamboo skewers at the grocery store, cut off the point, and use them as the sticks. I buy all sorts of objects at Goodwill to hold the diffuser liquid. It is amazing what unique finds second hand stores have for mere pennies.Good luck.

Just be careful, b/c if you knock over a reed diffuser you'll have a huge mess :( One of my best friends in college had one with no problems, but you'll have to be careful if you're as clumsy as I am! They look really nice and elegant though. Those Bath & Body Works plug in oil diffusers are great too! They're another great alternative to candles. And trust me, guys love it when your room smells like Warm Vanilla Sugar! haha. :) They go on sale fairly frequently, and last a really long time.

Thanks for that link, sharond! I love reed diffusers- they're a really simple and beautiful way to freshen up a room. I haven't made my own yet, but I do hear they are very inexpensive especially compared to the ones you buy in the store. They'd probably make really nice gifts too.
I like reed diffusers for my smaller room, the fragrance seems to last longer there. The odd thing is that I have found that my diffusers from Target seem to be better than the ones I have from Pier One, at least as far as how strong the scent stays. The diffusers from Pier One are economically priced at $12, not bad.My favorite candles are Beanpod Candles. They're made of soy and don't have any paraffin, so they're environmentally friendly. They smell strong and clean when burnt. I also like the home fragrance oils from The Body Shop.
fatcat - where do you find the Beanpod candles? I've been trying to buy more soy candles because they burn so much cleaner than the alternatives. I love a nice fragrance in the house. We burn incense sometimes (which I am crazy about - old hippie here!). But the candles and diffusers do last longer.

I have tried the Woodwick and they are really nice! Searching got thr Beanpod ones now,I love Soy best!
Cac & Mjsred, the Beanpod Candles can be hard to find. I used to be able to find them at my local Hallmark, but they stopped carrying them. I now go to one of those independantly owned party stores. Here the link to Beanpod Candles store locator: http://www.beanpodcandle.com/beanpod/contact/findabeanpod.asp
Thanks! I just found a Merle Norman store in my little town carries them. I've never been in the store, but will get there this week.

I hope you end up loving the candles like I do! Let us know what you think of them if you get one. The small 4.5 oz. jar is a great size, it was what I got the first time I bought one.
I bought some reed diffusers from Old Navy when they were on sale, and they're really nice!
i like candles and things that let the whole room smell good some candles i found dont you can only smell it if you are right next to the candle. im gonna have to try to check it out

I'm notorious for leaving candles lit when I leave the house, so I had to try alternatives. I've only tried one type of reed diffuser (a Glade one from the drugstore), and I didn't really like it. Even when it was new, I couldn't smell it unless I put my nose right up to it. I much prefer an electric candle warmer. Both Walmart and Michael's craft stores have them for around $5, but you can usually find a ~40% off coupon for Michael's in the Sunday paper, so they're a pretty good deal. (FYI: the coupons are only valid on one regular-priced item.)
