I have pretty oily skin and break out easily. I have been using Clinique Superfit off and on for the past 5 years or so. I don't notice any major increase in breakouts when using it, and I like the coverage.
im curious to hear others replies too!The only thing I have EVER been able to wear is Mineral powder, and I have been SO wanting to wear liquid!! especially since IM getting old now *grrr* and mineral makeup makes wrinkle look WORSE!!
PunkyDew, I'm saying this with love, but you are only 23, if you have lines, they're not from your age, they're from the tanning!!! And I know you know that, and it's undoubtedly really annoying to hear me say it,but sun damage is the number one factor in aging!! I know how addictive tanning is, I've been there. I just don't want to see you end up as one of those women who look like a leathery 50 when they're only 30. Okay, that said, I find that I can use liquid foundation on my oily skin, a few that work are: L'oreal Infalliable, Revlon Colorstay, and Laura Mercier oil free. Also Maybelline Matte mousse or liquid works well.
Right now my favorite combination is Shiseido SPF 55 lotion (it is the most mattifying product of any kind that I've used--I've never found ANY product [sunscreen, lotion, primer, foundation] that even slightly mattifies my skin for more than an hour or two, and this stuff works pretty decently for the length of the workday!), and a powder foundation on top (Clinique Superbalanced Mineral Powder SPF 15 is my current fave, although I'm trying out the Nicole Paxon oil blotting powder and it seems good also). The key to not breaking out, for me, is getting a really good cleansing routine! A lot of foundations for oily skin, or sunscreens, seem to really stick to the skin and that can cause breakouts. I like Clinique's Foaming Cleanser. It's a little harsh, so get rid of that too tight/squeaky clean feeling, I follow with Cetaphil cleanser. And then to really really make sure I get everything off, I use Neutrogena astrigent (the blue colored one). If you have sensitive skin or don't like alcohol based toners, I'd recommend using a non-alcohol based toner (rather than skipping that step altogether).
I've been using Revlon's Color Stay Liquid Foundation for oily skin. When I first used it, I was pleased with the results. I think as I continue to use it, the effect isn't as dramatic anymore in reducing oiliness. I'm just really oily overall. So now I just use powder foundation and use Makeup Forever's HD powder on top. the HD powder really reduces oiliness in my opinion and gives a soft silky finish...when I first tried it, I couldn't stop touching my face because it felt like silk!
I realized early on that tanning would cause more wrinkles. I havnt tanned my face in over a year. my face is pale as a ghost. I just use self tanner and a darker foundation to match the color of the rest of my body. So im not worried about the tanning causing wrinkles on my face and I wear SPF everyday on my face. I do appreciate the concern though ;) But I however have bad genetics and a history of a stressfull teens and early 20s that have really etched out my face.
I'm still trying to find a liquid foundation that works on my oily and acne prone skin. Something I have found that works to keep my face from looking horribly oily though is Jurlique Citrus Silk Finishing Powder. It's translucent so is to be used after applying your liquid foundation, has the most gorgeous citrus scent and really keeps my skin matte. I used it last summer on a blisteringly hot and humid Auckland day when I was bridesmaid at my sister's outdoor wedding and I was really impressed that my face didn't turn in to a total oil slick! And it hasn't contributed to any breakouts. Here's a link: http://www.jurlique.com.au/invt/103400 - Jurlique is Australian, and I'm not sure of their availability outside of Australia and New Zealand.I'm very interested to see what recommendations there are for a liquid foundation.
I've probably tried every single brand of liquid foundation from drugstores and department stores and the only one I really liked was Neutrogena Healthy Skin liquid makeup. If I *had* to go back to liquid, I'd use that stuff in a heartbeat.
http://www.acne-reviews.org/ Most Acne Solutions promise a miracle, but once you buy them, you are disappointed that they don't work as well as you thought. At Acne-Reviews, we look at what is in those acne treatment products that helps them clear your skin.
Try using organic virgin coconut oil on your face as a moisturizer to clear up that acne, then you can use whatever foundation you want on top of it! I've been using the CO for a couple weeks now and have noticed a huge difference. I got lazy a few days and didn't apply it, and got a few zits again.
TIll now the best foundation I found to hid my acne was the L' Oreal Mat Cashmere, it provides great coverage and stays on for a long time. What I learnt from my dermatologist is that if you have oily skin you should always use an Oil-free foundation. I hope I have been a bit helpful
I'm still looking out for that HG foundation. I have oily combo skin that is acne prone. Revlon colorstay seems to work well but for the days I don't need much coverage I would like a lighter formula. Oh well, I still need to look out.
I've never used anything other than mineral since liquid never appealed to me, but my oily skin just can't deal with mineral anymore. I'm going to have to try Revlon Colorstay. I think I'm a Golden Beige/Warm Golden and will try it out in a couple months. I've read it makes a lot of people break out, but I hope it'll work for me.
If your skin is really acne-prone I would recommend Neutrogena's SkinClearing Oil-Free Makeup since it has salicylic acid in it (the same ingredient in most acne spot treatments)
Since it's oil-free you won't have to worry about mineral oil settling in your pores!
I'm pretty sure they make a concealer with salicylic acid in it too :)

I've been using Revlon's Color Stay Liquid Foundation for oily skin, which is pretty good and inexpensive.
