Any one hit the bottom of a lipstick tube?
Tue, 09/01/2009 - 8:12am
To go along with hitting the pan on eye shadow, I thought I would throw in lipstick. I have never ever truly emptied a lipstick tube, digging with a brush to get the last little bit. My mother at 77 has her first lipstick from high school yet. Some horrible orange stuff. We laugh about how she has never emptied one either.

The one I've hit the bottom of the tube on, repeatedly, is Nars Niagara. It's a gorgeous, medium pinky coral that looks spectacular on light to medium warm toned gals (I'm MAC N25). The texture is drier than I'd like, but the color is so great, I'm willing to put up with it. This lippie brightens up your face like nothing else!
I have yet to hit the bottom of a lipstick but at 24 that's not very shocking. I'm sure my aunt has in her lifetime because she is true to only one shade of lipstick, although I am tempting her with other brands to try. She hasn't budged yet.
i've never hit the bottom of a lipstick. it's probably because i have a bunch of shades and always grab for lip balm instead.

I have hit rock-bottom but it's been a while because I simply have SO many lipsticks! When I was a "poor girl",I'd use every last drop of anything and mix it with something to extend...Trying to remember the first tube/color I drained dry and I think it was Clinique "Butterscotch..." :)
I've never hit pan on e/s before, but I HAVE hit the bottom of two l/s tubes! The very first one was a CG lip slicks, in Hint of Mauve. It was the first 'lipstick' I was ever allowed to wear (my mom wouldn't allow mu until I was about 17), and the absolute perfect color for my really pigmented lips. I would have bought another one if CG was cruelty free. The other one I hit the bottom of is a Jane l/s in Punch Bowl, which is a light pink with a gold sheen. Super pretty and it smells AND tastes like fruit punch! :D
I've hit bottom on Mac Twig twice, and I've emptied a couple of Avon Glazewear lipglosses. I've bought 15 of the color when it was discontinued so I never run out again
I have yet to use up a lipstick tube, but that's mostly because I've just started using lipstick! I think I've used up a chapstick or two though...Why is it that right when I'm about to completely use up a lip product, I lose it?!

im getting there.. im using benefits flirt alert lipstick and i only use it a couple of times a week but im gonna use it more so i can buy another one haha
You know what? Now that I think about it, never, ever! But I lose them, they fall out of my purse and melt in the car, they fall out of my pocket at work and fall on the bathroom floor, at which point I usually toss it out. I do remember when I first fell in love with MAC Prrrrr, I bought one and loved it so much I went back and got 2 more, so I could have one in my purse, one on my vanity, and one at my desk at work. And I think I use up 2 of them before I moved on to something else.
I have hit the bottom of one. When I say I hit the bottom I don't scrape them out.I use them until they are flat and then chuck them. Scraping them out is just wayyy too much effort!!
I hit the bottom years ago ( Lol!) when I had a lancome lipstick that was given to me. ( Could never afford it) and the colour was the perfect red, with blue undertone. I have never been able to find this exact colour again as they discontinued it and I have never find the perfect red in anything else. Yup, I am fussy. I do love the colour "twig" by Mac and have had two but only because I lost one. Also used to love the colour "frou" by Mac. Oh yes, and their another colour that I love and haven't bought in a long time made by Maybeline, called "plum raisin." Now that I write down all the shades that I have repurchased, "lipstick junkie" echoes in my head!Artcandy

i like glosses and chapsticks better- my lips are dark naturally. my glosses usually go bad before i use them up
yeah i hit the bottom at least three times
Yeah i have finished alot.
Clinique Color Surge Buttershine lipstick in Raspberry Rush. I'm on my second tube.
Just today I hit bottom on my "Timothy" Pocket Rocket, but since I saw this day coming, I had already purchased "James" to replace him. So I was kind of ready to see Timothy go, but it was fun while it lasted.
yea i've used up tons of clinique lippie but when i was younger and some Mark sheensticks in the past few months....but I don't wear the same color often cuz my lippies collection has gotten allot larger...
You are right...I've never finished a lipstick. Then again I still haven't really found a "favorite" color.
Actually, I've never hit bottom on a lipstick or gloss. So sad! I have like 7 or 8 glosses and about 4 lippies...is that a bad thing? Should I have more??
I regularly finish lip glosses, probably every 3 months or so. Only because I have a gloss sitting on my desk at work so I'll use it constantly until it's gone.I've finished lipsticks in the past, but it's been a long time since I used one up, I have way too many.

I'm just not a lipstick girl. However, I have a terrible lip gloss addiction. I have burned through more lip gloss than I can count. My favorite shade is Lancome Juicy Tubes in Chilled, which was a seasonal color from a couple of years ago. I've used it sparingly because I don't want to run out! It's the perfect shade of pink-mauve with a neutral shimmery glitter.
i've never hit the bottom of a lip stick! i've only ever hit the bottom of about 2 lip balms, they were both bonne bell lip smackers. I've finished about 3 tubes of mascara though.. well more like they "Kinda" dried out. and no where near hittin the bottom of a blush or eyeshadow pan!

i don't think i've hit the bottom of anything yet either... haha (:i've hit the bottom of lip balms, because I tend to use those more!thanks God for the Body Shop;D
My motto is "you're never fully dressed without your lipstick". I have a lipstick addiction. lol I've got down to where you would have to use a lipbrush. Then I normally buy a new one at that point, if it hasn't already been discontinued. Here are all the ones I've used up. MAC-Red, MAC-Glam, Merle Norman-Rich Raspberry (two of Rich Raspberry), Ultima II-Love, Ultima II-Click, Merle Norman-Red Glamour, Revlon-Suitably Ruby, Revlon-Cherries in the Snow, Aveda and it's so old I can't read the name. I bought it in 1988 and still wear the same tube. It's a beautiful blue red. I think it's definitely time for a new one. You can recycle your MAC tubes and get a free new one if you bring in six used. Cool Deal!!!

The only time I hit the bottom of a lipstick tube is (this is embarrassing) when I was younger and used to play around with my mom's makeup. The red was my favorite (ever) and I'd put it on just to take it off about three times a day. When I actually started using makeup, I never wore lipstick... colored gloss is as far as I'd go. Recently I started, but I rotate so much that I doubt I'll ever hit lipstick bottom again.

I've never hit the bottom of a lipstick, mainly because I rarely wear lipstick. I have hit the bottom on many a tube of lip balm though, my favorite being Lipsmacker's Dr. Pepper flavor (also my favorite beverage, so cool it's in lipbalm flavor too!)

I have, I have!!!! I have only hit rock bottom on one lipstick and that was my MAC high tea, which I incedentally received free with the Back 2 MAC program. Now I can return my empty lipstick tube and get something else for free...I love how that works!I have however NEVER hit the bottom of any of my eyeshadow. I guess its cause I always use primer and I'm a MAC girl and the majority of my e/s are MAC and they seem to last me forever (or maybe its cause I have too many colors...oopsie lol).
MAC Underplay....Love it. When it was available, it was always sold out in the MAC store, so I had to scrape out several of them. It got discontinued this year, so there was no way I was going to return the tube without getting every last bit out. Fortunately, I was able to get another five tubes through the Gone But Not Forgotten program that they have.
lol. Um that's kind of gross. I haven't hit the tube yet on any lipstick yet.

Yes, I hit the bottom of a tube of Chanel lipstick (Pink Alert) that is my all-time favorite. I couldn't believe it when they discontinued it. And I know that was well over 10 years ago. I have a little bit left in the tube - thank God it hasn't turned nasty - and I live in hope that I'll be able to match it one day. And I do use it occasionally, digging it out with a lip brush, when I really want a lift. It's a soft pink with a kind of silvery undertone. And it was just right for me! :-( Now I feel sad...

I do this somewhat gross thing when lipbalms or chapsticks are almost empty... I heat the last little bits to melt them and blend them together. It also helps to 'get rid of' something that is not quite perfect, or to tint an untinted lipbalm.
I haven't hit the bottom of a tube of lipstick, but I've probably emptied anywhere from 5-10 glosses. I'm not much of lipstick person, I definitely prefer gloss. It also doesn't help that I probably have 30 different shades of lip stick, so when I do wear it I switch it up frequently.
Yes, I do get to the bottom of my lipsticks. I found this incredible brush that I use so I get every last drop of my favorite lipstick. I found the lipbrush at Walgreens and I love it so much! So addicted to MAC and Chanel lipsticks. They have the best colors and staying power. The only thing that angers me about Chanel is they discontinue things too many times!! I am so angry they discontinued the lipstick "Cashmere." It was a great color I used for daytime/work, anything. If you make your eyes smokey, which I love that look, It's a great lip color so you won't look overdone. That would be Chanel Cashmere and definitely MAC Spirit. Now MAC has never discontinued their colors. They add fabulous new colors, but have never had to get angry because of a discontinuation. Don't makeup companies get what that does to our psyche? It sure isn't good ladies. Anyway, Chanel has classic beautiful clothing, no question. Miss CoCo had the eye for timeless classics. I have a new book on her called "The Gospel According to CoCo Chanel", Life lessons from the world's most elegant woman. Love the book and was selling out like crazy at Barnes and Noble. My favorite parfume is Mademoiselle CoCo. The best on the planet. Even though I do have other parfumes. No cheapies because nothing makes me sneeze more. Nothing worse than nasty, cheap smelling perfume, toilet water, whatever you want to call it. I will say that I do love my Gap Dream and Rain Check, but they're perfumes. Not the latter of course, but still fabulous. They smell great. But it will always be Chanel for me. MAC I will love you forever for never letting me down. You must try this new eyeliner called Tarnish. It's sort of a beautiful dark green color and you line the inside of your eyes to give you the smokey look I was talking about. Okay then..tootles

I have hit bottom a few times on my favorites. I tend to look for the perfect lippy, then use it up, whereas with eyeshadows I want hundreds, lol.
Lily - Mineral makeup Junkie!!!
Only once...it was Twig by MAC...but that's probably because I get so distracted with new shades and formulas all the time.
Nope! I have never even come close to getting to the bottom of a lipstick, and I most likely never will!

I don't use lipstick regularly... I like it on occasion and especially for when I'm onstage, but I mostly grab for a tinted lip gloss or such. My mother, on the other hand... :)
SEVERAL clinique black honeys and lancome sugar maples and a metric ton of chapstick but nothing else ever runs out. in fact i think perhaps lipstick reproduces. just a theory.
I've just started using lipsticks, so not yet. But I hope I have a manageable makeup collection one day, which requires me to use all the makeup that I buy before I get new products. This hasn't been happening so far, but I am hopeful. Maybe then I'll hit the bottom on a tube of lippy or two!
Have used a lip brush to get every bit of MAC's Twig out---it is just a color that looks so good on everyone. Am using that lip brush on my last slender tube of Chanel's Brun Precieux---bought three tubes (all I could get) when I found out it was going to be discontinued---and it could only be found in Europe anyway. Lately I am glossing it to survive Chicago's brutal wind.
Forgot about a lipstick I found in London in a Boots drugstore. Color was Cashmere. Should have purchased two tubes. It was Rimmel or No 7 and I have not found it in those lines here.
i have yet to hit the bottom of a lipstick tube but it could be that i have more than one shade and i don't wear anyone more than the other
That was a good color as well. Did they discontinue that? If so, no....... oh that makes me angry. I haven't used that color in a while, but I do remember having used it. I used that with Spice lipliner, which thank goodness they still have.

I have yet to hit the pan on either an eye shadow or a lippie, I guess it's because I'm always trying new ones, and use them all at one time or another, hmmmm, maybe this is a hint to quit buying so much!!?? NAW!! I'll keep searching for the perfect one! LOL
Lots! I went through a phase when I only wore red lipstick. I went through lots of Aveda Sespartine (sp?) They discontinued the color and I switched to mac russian red. Now, I vary it a little. I just finished Mac Brick-o-la and ruby woo. I pretty much always have lipstick on.(this is my first post here. :) )
yes it hit the bottom of like two, i was so upset as the color name had disappeared and the other one was discontinued
The only one i've actually hit the bottom of is Mac's Russian Red, but even then there's actually a load hiding further down in the tube that you just can't get to. I scooped it out and still havent finished using that!
I barely use lipsticks, so I've never hit the bottom of one. I'll feel so accomplished when I do though :P
I recently hit the bottom of my red, glossy Rouge Reflex Vibration lip stick, and it saddens me deeply. But I'll continue to use it with a brush until there is no lipstick visible to the naked eye... Then I'll go get more. It's not very expensive and I use it a lot.
