Angel Hair for Kids

I was so proud of my daughter today. She had 11 inches of her long blond golden hair cut off to donate to a organization called "Angel Hair." Shes worried about what people at school will say. I told her not to care about what others think. (It's what she feels inside that counts.) I explained to her that sometimes people are used to you being a certain way, and when change happens they are a bit surprised. Reminded her to always love herself and know shes perfect just the way she is! And also to think how giving a gift like this, may make a little girl or boy very happy.

I recently donated my hair as well for the second or third time. And while I miss it, my hair will grow back. It'll take awhile, but it will grow back. Some of my friends think my hair looked better longer, but I know that my hair looks best on a kid who needed it. However, that is something that I, as a 24 year old young woman, can appreciate. I don't know how old your daughter is, but it's not something that all girls necessarily understand. I'm not really sure why kids would make fun of her for giving her hair to kids who are sick, unless the kids weren't really kids of good character.

That's such an awesome thing for her to do!! I donated my hair to Locks of Love years ago, but haven't been wearing it long enough to do so for quite awhile. She should be so proud of herself!! Think of how she's made it possible for some little child to have real hair while undergoing treatment for a terrible illness. Something like that may seem like a little thing, but it's the kind of thing that makes all the difference in the world.
Thanks Bluedevilkitty and Erica, You can tell that you guys care about others so much, and have wonderful personalities. I feel a little silly going on here and bragging about my daughter. It's just I was so over filled with joy yesterday, and I guess I wanted to share it with others. Also it helps getting the word out to others that may be wanting to cut their hair, that instead of throwing it away you can help someone. Even if we don't have the financial means to donate....theres other ways to give.

I used to have REALLY long har when I was younger.when I was 16 or so I cut it and donated it.It felt good. And My mom ended up getting cancer a few years down the road and we were able to get back something in return. Don't feel silly its such a great thing she did!
