30-Day Shed
Diets i'm still working on especially since I want to make sure it's focused around my Diabetes Type 2.I've done a ton of different workouts over the years to slowly but surely not only lose a 100lbs but keep it off. Ranging from Richard Simmons, Pilates [my fav!], Yoga, Power Walking, Sports, Tony Little's Gazelle, Core Rhythms [LOVE], Turbo Jam [truly a miracle], and more. But I just want to throw out there that the workout for Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shed is just INSANELY awesome. I need to lose about another... or well should lose another 80lbs to be at a much healthier place for me. I've been stuck a fluctuating plateau but this has definitely been a life saver. I think i'll check out her meal plans though people rave about Weight Watcher's and Nutri-System so still deciding.Anyways just thought i'd throw that out there for anyone looking for a great new workout!

Thanks for sharing! My hubby and I are huge fans of the Biggest Loser. I am so inspired by all of the show's participants, as well as the trainers Jillian and Bob. It's amazing to see the contestants transform week after week -- both physically and emotionally. Good luck with the program. Keep us posted on your progress :)
No problem i'm all about sharing the love on good and not so good products. I love the show as well! The transformations are mind blowing especially seeing everyone at the finales. Bob I have to say is my favorite trainer but Jillian is a force herself hehe. Thanks i'll definitely keep you guys posted i'm on day 4 and have lost 3lbs already!
Wow, that's great progress so far! Bob is my favorite trainer (and such a hottie). My 2 favorite episodes are the makeover show and the finale -- my hubby and I look forward to these all season. I am so glad there have been women winning these past couple of seasons. They have been such an inspiration. Keep us posted, girl!
One of my coworkers just got me hooked on The Biggest Loser! It's awesome. Congrats on your weight loss so far! I definitely gained a lot of weight my last two years of college... I need to get healthy and fit again too.
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
Thanks for the recommendation. I am so impressed with your success so far. I have always wondered about the online programs. Please keep us informed of how things go!
I have heard this program is TOUGH and EFFECTIVE! Kuddos to you for getting healthy and I agree that show is inspirational although sometimes a bit over the top,LOL!The key to ANY training program is to find something you ENJOY because then you'll want to do it!It's all "hard" but sometimes it really is fun too!Keep us posted on your progress and we'll be here to cheer you on Hon!!!
Congrats!!!!!! That's awesome! I just bought this dvd! I absolutely love Jillian and the Biggest Loser.. she is HARDCORE which is really motivating to me. I plan on trying it for the first time tomorrow. Think I can lose at least 5 pounds with it? I'm not expecting miracles or any results really but according to my doctor I'm overweight.. I'm 5'3" and 142 pounds. Also do you have to do Level 1 for 10 days, Level 2 for 10 days, and then Level 3 for 10 days or can you mix it up?
Thanks to everyone for all the thanks and support. :) I'll definitely keep you updated as often as possible.gem - you're right the makeover show is another great part of it especially since just getting a makeover after any accomplishment just makes it feel like gold.mjsred - haha i can't agree with you more if you don't enjoy it sometimes it's the other factors of motivation aren't enough. i do enjoy a good upbeat yet intense workout. if i don't feel it to me it's not doing it's job.jess182 - congrats on joining in on the mayhem haha. you definitely can lose 5lbs with it. obviously the losing rate is different from person to person some take longer others see a drastic loss in inches before the actual weight. but it's a great program and i don't doubt anyone that decides to partake will find some great results maybe even better than expected. i usually lose inches before i see a drop in weight but with this program it's pretty equal and i like that balance. that's exactly what you do... start with level 1 for 10 days, level 2 for the next 10 days, and level 3 for the next 10 days. you can always mix it up, if you just wanted a certain goal and the maximum results i would say with this program stick to her layout and mix it up after the 30 days if you continue but really if you're only look to lose a small number or tone/sculpt definitely mix it up even by level 2. best of luck :) oh and definitely get either 2lb or 3lb weights no more otherwise you won't feel your arms haha that and it's not really necessary with her effective program.
Wowza!!! I just got done doing the 30 day shred for the first time. Jillian completely kicked my butt!!! Whew. I liked how fast the time flew by.. I'm so used to always checking the timer thing on the treadmill and feeling like it's never going to end!Misstrishdelish- please keep us updated! What kind of diet changes did you make?
I'm glad to read your recommendation about the 30 day Shred. I just ordered it for my daughter because she wanted it. IMHO she doesn't need to lose an ounce or an inch, she's perfect. But then, are we ever really satisfied?? So now, I'm intrigued - maybe I need the DVD too! Congrats to all of you who are losing weight and getting healthier. I've been working on that too, since January. About 38 lbs gone so far, and I hope I never see that ugly fat again! I've been following WW online and working out for 40 minutes a day on our elliptical trainer. So I'm taking it off slowly and surely, and hopefully it will stay off this time.

jess182 - haha my friend started for the first time the other day too and she said "trish i could barely stand after" which just cracked me up i clearly remember my first time with the workout. omg i was the same way on the treadmill and oliptical! if you looking for another great toning program the windsor pilates and core rhythm is great to do on the side for mixing it up. and for another great intense workout i can't stop talking about turbo jam it's just as insane as 30-day shed haha.i completely cut out fast food, sodas, juices, pastas, rice, bread, noodles, and sweets. i do low fat for now. drink tons of water and treat myself to tea or smoothies every once in a great while. lots of veggies, fruits, tofu, and fish. of course do lean protein still but the main thing is i eat small meals throughout the day and very portion conscious. i know it's kind of extreme but it's never the diet that's every really a problem for me i can quit cold turkey on that front which is crazy i know. but my problem was always portions and too busy to eat frequently or even the standard 3 meal diet.cac - haha you're right when are we ever really satisifed? i'm literally 100lbs and 10 dress sizes smaller than my heaviest. yes that's insane for a person my age but i'm glad i decided to change and save my life for me and my future. but at least your daughter is just wanting to stay healthy, my friend i think is nuts for wanting to slim down more she's also perfect but what can we do right? congrats to you and your progress as well! it really does make a difference to just incoporate fun things as workouts into the routine i used to dread jogging or going to the gym. now i can't wait to do my jogging or gym and sports.** lost another 2.5lbs and .5 inch on my stomach and arms
Congrats misstrishdelish! Keep it up girl! Jillian Michaels does kick butt! I should really get on it! I love exercisetv.com and their free workouts its a nice way to switch it up!
www.nanisnails.blogspot.com
thanks natalia315 :) omg i love fittv's free workouts they're amazing one of the workouts kind of inspired me to take kick boxing classes... haha going to lose at least another 20lbs before i do it
I love doing Pilates.
I always wanted to try kick boxing classes misstrisdelish
I can only use the treadmill when I'm listening to music or watching tv
:) pilates is my favorite toning, lifting and sculpting workout. you should definitely try kick boxing classes caramel diva they're fun great zest of energy and some good self defense.haha yeah i agree i can i need music or tv when doing the treadmill or elliptical
Congrats girl on the success! This is one of my FAVORITE workout dvd's ever. I recently quit my gym, because I was just never comfortable going there. My boyfriend told me it was impossible to get a good work out at home. Then I made him do this dvd with me and now he's hooked. He even ordered the P90x system. Has anyone tried that one yet? We are waiting for it to be delivered.Misstrish-are you doing the 30 day shred meal plan with the dvd or just the diet changes you mentioned?
Fabulously Thrifty haha thanks so much. i'm currently just doing the dvd workout but plan to continue and add the meal plan later, though the diet changes i think are really helping.* lost another 2lbs and another 1inch off my stomach and .5 off my arms and legs!!*lol i love when the guys and even some gals think the only way to an actual good workout is out of the home. i actually owe over the years all my weightloss to workouts i've done at home. haha i too had friends over to try the workouts and they too ended up quitting their gym. but how awesome and convenient is it for us to be able to get just as good if not better results at home right?oh boy p90x?! that's all the rage back in my home, hawaii. i heard it's crazy intense workout! definitely the best at home true bootcamp style workout. i know alot of people who've done it have gotten ripped because it's a muscle and strength workout all the way. good luck!
I love that workout! The Biggest Loser Boot Camp is another fave and I agree, Bob is a hottie!
MissTrish-you are so right! My work outs at home are more convenient and more comfortable and there for work better for me. It all depends on how hard you work out. If you do an intense dvd and give it your all, isn't it better than half-assing it on the treadmill at the gym? Yes, I do think so!I got the dvds and the meal plans and stuff from P90x, it's scary and I turned it right over to my boyfriend lol.
jen4774 - haha another bob lover i love it!fabulously thrifty - haha exactly pushing yourself as far as you can with the dvd is a much better workout than i'll get probably a few nights at the gym just kind of going with the flow. plus less intimidation too!haha i know that p90x is just in your face crazy. my friend she's a sweetheart and just a little short firecracker. she ordered that and i think is doing it to help with her volleyball too. i give her credit that's just madness!
Jillian Michaels scares me. Does anyone else think her arms are way too buff? Hormone injections much?? But congrats on your success!
I'd LOVE to do a "real bootcamp" but alas,my gym is more "family orientated" and I'm a loner there who works with a TOUGH trainer and does TOUGH cardio so they sort of sneer at me...listen...they read magazines/drink coffee on the treadmill, need I say more? LOLROF!Fabulous facuilty though and only 12 miles from my "middle of nowhere" house...I LOVE that y'all are excited to be fit and I will be sharing one of MY "top fitness secrets" here in a review/post very soon...just firming up some details. :)Wish some of y'all we closer so we could buddy up! :)I am so proud of y'all...you don't even know! The more you do NOW to stay fit, trust me,it WILL pay off even bigger as you get a bit "older..."I am actually going to "Hip Hop Abs" on Monday nights as well as all of the other chit I do...I can't believe it but it's SOOOOO much fun!!!I can booty pop.
misstrishdelish- helpppppp! So I got pretty sick with a nasty sinus infection that would not go away for 2 weeks.. after 3 visits to the doctor I finally got some antibiotics.. I frickin lost 7 pounds in 6 days. that never has happened to me! So needless to say I haven't had the motivation to shred it up with Jillian. I'll be back at it in no time though! How have you been doing girl???
Jillian is a little scary, but I like that. I need someone to yell at me lol. The yoga and pilates dvds sometimes relax me too much. How has everyone been doing?
I just have to say congratulations to you for losing (and keeping off) 100 pounds!!! That is an amazing accomplishment, made even more so by the diabetes, which makes it so much harder to lose weight.
Miss Trish - WOW! 100 lbs?? That's incredible - I am in awe of you, girl. As of today, I've lost 41 and I was doing a happy dance all over the house :-)My exercise of choice is getting on our elliptical trainer for at least 40 minutes a day (yesterday I did 50 minutes!). But I just borrowed some exercise dvd's from a friend. The series is called The Firm and looks pretty good. I'll let y'all know how that works out.
Carole
xemailheather - haha you might be right she does have extremely buff arms... did you see how big she used to be when she showed her before picture on the first season? it's bananas!mjsred - oh my coffee while on the treadmill yikes! i feel your pain i too used to be the "crazy" loner at my gym with the intense workout. than i moved to vegas and i felt, weak haha! hang in there and don't pay no mind to the haters your results will leave them speechless!can't wait to read your secrets and tips and that would be nice to all buddy up for workouts, nothing better than having others just as pumped as you are around while you're working out! haha i love your energy! i've always wanted to try hip hop abs and you totally have me sold... i'll do the booty pop as well too girlfriend!jess182 - ahhh i'm so sorry to hear that! hope you're feeling better i hate when that nasty flu/cold bug hits. yeah once you stop especially with jillian it's hard to get the motivation back. it so happens an dear old friend from high school was in town for a week and after that unfortunately one uncle of mines passed and another went into the hospital. so with everything going on i admit i didn't do jillian for at least 2 1/2 weeks now. i'm starting up again tomorrow did a nice cardio workout today at the gym to get myself pumped. thankfully i didn't gain weight i actually lost another 6lbs! was good on the diet since i didn't workout.hang in there and just remember beauty is pain... haha the good ole saying. work hard now and play hard later. the results will definitely be worth it in the end and you'll not only look even more fantastic you'll feel like you're on top of the world, while being even healthier! sometimes grabbing something from the closet that you haven't been able to fit in awhile or buying something that you plan to get into helps to jump kick it too. getting back on that road with you, we can do it!fabulously thrifty - haha i feel the same way if i don't have someone yelling at me or know that it'll be a challenge its hard for me to really get in the zone and pump myself up. a bunch of my friends are doing the p90x kenpo i guess the kick boxing like one... i have to say almost tempted to give p90x another shot. haha of course when i'm better shape for my stamina! how's your progress going?erica - thanks so much! :) sometimes one's self if the hardest critic and i definitely go there with myself alot, especially lately. half way there to the finish line you know? yes diabetes is a very difficult thing and situation to work against beating. sadly many on both sides of my family suffer from it and have passed away due to complications for not taking action and staying on the healthy fighting path. my uncle who passed recently, unfortunately had many health problems due to diabetes from amputation to loss of eye sight. seeing him and just so many in the world period struggling really opened my eyes. i don't want to be ill and in pain. there's so much i want to do still with my life and i want to be healthy for a family i hope to bear one day.cac - :) haha thanks so much and huge congrats to you too lady that's a great accomplishment as well!! you know i have to say the first 30lbs for me were sooo hard so i definitely congrad you for the 41 i know how hard it can be! haha the happy dance is something i hope to keep doing on the health front!ahhh the elliptical a fiercesome one it is haha. my best friends love that machine i'm more of a bike and treadmill girl. but you have to love the workout it kicks your butt with! i do love intense pilates which apparently my friends think the windsor pilates is the "killer pilates" haha! sounds great though can't wait to hear your thoughts on "the firm" i'm always looking for new, fun, creative, challenging workouts. never know until you try it out right?haha well ladies i'm loving your input and hearing your stories until next time, just in case i'm mia again for a couple of weeks have a great 4th of july week and weekend!
I am inspired. I just ordered the 30 day shed. I can't wait for it to arrive.
http://simplethingshere.blogspot.com
OK, so I've tried The Firm. I used the Total Body Toner DVD. It felt so easy - I didn't think I was getting anything at all from it. And then the next day, I was ready for ICU! My butt and thighs were screaming; you may have heard them. I couldn't even get on the ellip for a couple of days. I'm sure it will get better with time. But DA-yum! And I bet it's not even nearly as tough as the 30 day shred, which BTW, I will NOT be trying :-)
Carole
EXCITED!!! My 30 day shed has shipped!! Should arrive tomorrow...bring on the aches, pains and burns. WHOOHOO!!
http://simplethingshere.blogspot.com
I have the video but only tried it once. The first 10 mins. kicked my butt!! I need to get motivated and try it again...maybe this time i'll make it through the whole video. I don't know how you ladies do it!!
30 Day Shred is a great video! I hurt a lot after the first time I did it, but found that if you keep with it, it starts getting a little easier, but remains VERY effective. Julian is also good at being motivating but not annoying. She also always seems to know when I am losing good form and gives helpful reminders! : )
wow i am going to look these up-sounds fun i like to choose workpouts on recomendations from others! my friend has started using yogalates for weightloss and she is down to her lowest weight in years (she didnt change her diet either!) she looks great shes wearing size ten clothes and is so toned i am going to order it from amazon i will let you know how it goes! i just got an excersise bike which i have been using and i love it. i am going on holiday in 5 weeks and need to get in shape for my bikini!!! good luck with your get fit scheme!
I tried the 30-day shred again yesterday, and although I am totally sore and can barely walk, it feels good to know that its actually doing something. I made it through the whole video last night, which was a big accomplishment for me (haha)! I definitely need to get a bike at home for my lazy days (when I just CAN'T get on the elliptical!).
I was thinking about trying that, thanks for sharing : ) I got the biggest loser cookbook and they have some great stuff in it
One day...
Richard Simmons always put a smile on my face! He was just too cute!
I used to watch him in kindergarten and still remember that up to this day my teacher was obsessed! I think i'm scarred for life!
;) Gloss & Gum <3
misstrishdelish - congrats on your success! And best wishes for the future. Working out is a tough habit to acquire but it's totally worth it.
skurtz80 - that's awesome! definitely look forward to hearing about your journey :)cac - haha carole you are too funny trust me i feel your pain! hang in there and it will definitely get better in time :)megan141 - lol oh trust me the first 10 minutes i thought HOW insane am i for even pushing on?! haha it wasn't easy but definitely has become well worth it :) that's awesome you busted it back out and made it the whole way through... you go girl!ibrhordes - you pretty much described it point on perfect! haha it does remain very effective especially when you alter your eating habits too :) i've found changing my sleeping habits and even doing meditation or having more me time even if it's an hour a day has definitely helped as well!i love make up - haha i hear ya! in fact the more you ladies have been posting on other workouts have had me looking into other workouts to throw in the mix to keep it fun :) PLEASE do let know how the yogalates works out! i love exercise bikes as well :) i've come to swear by the body ball :P it's used to be my i'm too lazy to head to the gym option but it really does help tone and lift any problem areas! haha i hear ya for getting ready for beach body!crditch - you know i actually just found my biggest loser cookbook i've been cleaning things out and packing for my move. you're right i forgot what great recipes and tidbits they have in there!veronicalin - haha you know i couldn't agree with you more when i was losing my first 50 lbs out of the 100 he really did play a part in that. he is a great character!surfnsandchic - hahaha my cousins are right there with ya every time i start singing one of the oldies songs on the video of his i had they're like oh know it's the rich simmons!!kingtaco - thanks so much i really appreciate it! you're right it is definitely a hard habit to acquire and restart even after a small break.thanks so much to everyone's input it's great hearing your stories on your workout trials and journeys as well :) i'm sorry i haven't done an update in awhile. i recently had my 25th birthday and in the process of getting a new job and moving. i wouldn't say i'm at a plateau but more so just haven't had enough time to fit in my 30 day shed so i've been doing stretches, some pilates, and different exercises on my body ball which has helped me lose some pounds i gained and maintain the weightloss i've had since the 30 day shed :) good luck to us all and hope everyone is having a great summer!
ok so i just done over an hour on the excersise bike it said i burnt over 600 calories-i have oins and needles in my butt cheeks! :) but i feel great i am going to do pilates tonight too then from noe on mostly alternate between the two, how is it going for you misstrishdelish? good i hope any tips or recipes to share? x

misstrishdelish and fabulously thrifty - I do P90X and it is AWESOME. You do have to be at least a little bit in shape for it. I don't follow the diet AT ALL, so I won't look like the people in the informercial, but dayum! After 30 days I'm sporting some guns!cac - I've done The Firm too! I did that when I was out of shape and it kicked my a**, but made it look great too! I was dieting then too so I looked really fit.I think dieting is probably half of the battle, I just don't want to do it. :/
My friend did p90xit's designed to get you in the best shape of your life.So yea you're really suppossed to be in shape alreadyShe said she has thrown up after a few workouts because they were so intense. But she seriously was TONED after a month or 2. I dont think she made it all the way through,So she recently just started again
