MissRo here to talk about eyeshadow ...AGAIN! I'm telling you, I can't get enough. Today I'm talking about Stila's "Barbie Loves Stila All Doll'd Up" palette. Not three, not five, but twelve colors to choose from! The colors, no matter how bright, earthy, or natural, are all rich in consistency, smooth in application, and last all day.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Barbie. Various brands have paid homage to the famous doll this year. Stila decided to create a whole makeup collection based on Barbie. Not just the palette, there is Liquid Liner, three Smudge Pots, three Lip Glaze, three Lip Enamel Luxe Gloss, a 1959, 1971, and 1980 Barbie doll mini collection, and the Talking Palette.
I have to tell you though, as I write this post, the palette is already sold out on the Stila site! Thankfully, you can still purchase this palette on Sephora. Better get it while it's hot!
MissRo here! If there is one product I cannot have enough of, it's eye shadow. I wear a different eye shadow color everyday. Sometimes it's something very muted and natural, sometimes it's very colorful if I'm wearing all black, or sometimes it's a very dark, smoldering eye if I'm going out to an event.
My hubby always says to me "I like you with little or no makeup". However, how can a woman go with little, to no makeup when we have all of these amazing brands with amazing products out there!
I remember when I bought the first Sephora Blockbuster palette. It had something like 64 eye shadows, 20 lip glosses, 6 blushes, and the list went on. When that package arrived at my place and I opened it, my husband took one look at it, then looked at me, and shook his head.
Stylemama here! I am obsessed with eyebrows. Or, if you are fluent in toddler-speak, you might call them eyebrowns. I have serious eyebrow envy. When I spy a woman with great looking, full, perfectly groomed, natural eyebrows I want to run up to her and beg her to never over-tweeze or allow an inexperienced hand near her precious treasure. Eyebrows are as important to your face as fingers are to hands. Do I exaggerate?
My eyebrows are decent but nothing to brag about. I'm always on the hunt for tools and products that transform my "less-thans" to "more-thans" in the most natural manner possible. You skinny hairs are going to love my latest find.
But first, have you ever noticed that most brow brushes are kind of big and sometimes difficult to manage? If you haven't it's probably because you have a beautiful lush set of brows and definitely don't need my help. But, if you are like me, you really do need a smaller brush to maintain that 'fake' natural look.
Tantejoan here and I Love a Mystery! Ever since I had that color makeover by Maybelline’s color consultant Chuck Hezekiah I have been keeping in mind his comment about the changeable nature of my eye color lending itself to a very broad spectrum of colors. Now, when I go to the drugstore or department store counter, I admit I am a bit bolder in my choice of colors, and it is quite exhilarating, especially since the previews of fall fashions all show that jewel tones are back, in clothing and in makeup.
But my favorite colors for the eye are actually a form of no-color, the greiges and blue-greys and greenish-taupes that look especially good in these early, pre-Fall days. Their indeterminate hues make my blue eyes come to the fore, but veiled in a kind of mystery. That’s why, when Meg sent me an eye shadow from Julie Hewett called “Mystere” I leaped to be first in line to review it.
Gigi here! The bitter bare-bones beauty battle rages on (I dare you to say that three times quickly).
Things are becoming more sparse at my local store, and thus I drew on my marketing degree and created a schematic of how I would utilize unoccupied floor space and shelves to entice shoppers.
I spoke with executives at the corporate level, offering them suggestions. I explained that displays that face the window and not the shopper won't win customers and that teeth marks on a lipstick package and one single glove in a pair to wear overnight with hand cream need to be addressed; with all respect, the days of one glove went with much-loved Michael Jackson.
I used a football analogy. This is not a field. I don't want to rush one hundred yards across the open carpet to tackle beauty items. I have new Megheads to meet, friend Megheads to greet, reviews to write, and comments to make on the site!
MissRo here to tell you to get rid of your foundation, because all you need is the Cosminology Kharmic Khameleon, AstroKoncealer to "hide your dirty lil' imperfections".
I am not the biggest fan of foundation on an everyday basis. I realize that everyone has different skin issues and might need heavier coverage. I prefer just concealer and a dusting of a foundation/powder with a brush all over. The way that I apply my concealer goes like this - on the sides of my nose, between my bottom lip and chin, just above my eyebrows in the middle of my forehead, on my eyelids (for an eyeshadow base), and the lower/inner corner of my eyes. I blend all that in, put on my eye makeup, curl my lashes, throw on my powder, then finish with blush, mascara, fill in the brows, throw on a gloss, and I'm good to go!
Hiya! MissRo here! Have you ever done your makeup in the morning and went to work, or were just out running errands for most of the day. Then you get invited to join friends for drinks, but need to freshen up your makeup and the one thing you do not have is eyeliner. Well, that's not the case with Laura Geller!
For $22.80 you get not one, but two eyeliners! Yup, QVC is selling the Laura Geller i-Care Eyeliner Waterproof Pencil Duo for a limited-time at that price. Normally it sells for $32, which is still great considering you are getting two pencils. You are probably wondering why two pencils. Well that is what I asked when I first saw the product. Then I noticed, right on the box it says one for home and one for your purse. I thought "genius"! And now I never have to be without eyeliner when going from day to night when I don't have time to go home and freshen up.
Kellie76 here! Approximately two months ago I began my RevitaLash journey with curiosity, hope, and of course trepidation. I have to tell you that my skeptic radar was on high alert for this product. But for the greater good, i.e. all of you, I decided to find out, "Does it really work?"
For those of you who don't know, RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner was created by Dr. Michael Brinkenhoff for his wife who was recovering from breast cancer. This labor of love was designed to improve the quality of her lashes which were damaged from chemotherapy. Seldom do you find a product that was created with such good intentions. The company even does one better by donating a portion of their proceeds to breast cancer research and education.
MissRo here! I am a huge fan of Anastasia's line. I have been using her Clear Brow Gel and Perfect Brow Pencil in Brunette/Dark Brown for the last couple of years. All her products have great packaging, the right tones, and perfect consistency. So, when I heard of the launch for her new Lash Lifting Mascara, I thought if it's anything like the Brow Gel, I can't wait to try it!
One coat of this exclusive silky, non-clumping, double effect mascara will add full volume thickness and uplifting curl. This mascara is formulated with the double effects of hard waxes and synthetic polymers that work together with the specially designed brush. The brush with its dual shape, high density fibers help to separate and distribute the mascara evenly to cover all lashes even at the corner of the eyes.
Katie here bringing you the tips for perfect eyes!
Eyeliner (n.) - a cosmetic for the eyelids, usually applied in a thin line close to the lashes to accentuage the eyes. It's such a simple idea, but I really think that eyeliner can be one of the trickiest cosmetic beasts to master. Pencil? Gel? Liquid? Powder? Thin? Thick? Cat-eye? Clown-dots below and above the lids (I've seen it, its weird by they do it)? With a brush or without? Waterproof or regular? There are so many gosh darn decisions! This week, I'm all about simplifying this monumental task in our daily regime.
Generally,I do think the thinner and more natural looking your eyeliner, the better. It's not supposed to be the color on your eyes (that's what shadow is for) its just supposed to highlight the shape of your eyes. Also, NEVER line the lower lashes with a liquied or a harshley colored pencil. If you absolutely MUST put something under your lower lashes, make sure that it is very thin, and very well blended/smudged. As a rule, though, lining the lower lashes makes your eyes look smaller and older. Pencils - probably the simplest of the tools to use and master. They are also the easiest to correct when you goof up! They come in a variety of shapes, but I still find that SKINNY eyeliner pencils are the easiest to control. Generally, the gel-based formulas last a little bit longer (in terms of hours of wear) and they don't dry up or get crusty like some of the old school pencils. Though Kohl formulas are a good option too. I love: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencils: They are a creamy gel formula that comes in lots of wonderful (and practical colors). They can be easily blended for about 30 seconds after you apply them, and they stay put all day...especially if you have an eye-primer on underneath. And...waterproof! Makeup Forever AquaEyes: Really, these are along the same lines as the urban decay pencil. They are also waterproof, they come in a different variety of shades than the Urban Decay pencils so they're really on par with them as well! Sephora Nano liners: these are a good option if you really want to play with some different colors, they're only $5, but they're not waterproof and you only get about half of the amount of products as standard sized pencil so I'm not sure that it's worth it if you already know what you like as far as eyeliners go.
