Sweetassgal is back in the real world after a full week of riding and roaring in the high desert. I'm talking 60 degrees in the day and 20 degrees at night and that's without the wind chill! Yes it was cold and fierce and gave me the BEST conditions to try out skin products while zipping around the sand dunes by day and lazing by the fire at night. I had a great Thanksgiving with my family and an even better time riding with my daughter Samantha.Provost. She just amazes me. Seventeen years old and she's got the fire of a young woman with the brains of her father. She took me over dunes and down steep hills with the ease of a pro and kept her cool the entire time. Me on the other hand...I screamed liked a little girl in ruffled underpants!
The most obvious choice for my sojourn to the sand was of course the Korres Night Cream with Quercetin and Oak Age Reversing Night Cream. Though my experimentation went beyond a night treatment. I used it at night after a long day of riding to refresh my parched skin and again in the morning to protect against the ravages of the day. It really had its work cut out for it as these are pretty harsh conditions and moisturizing potential was at its zenith. Every day I tapped into my little pot of Quercetin, Oak Extract, Mourera Fluviatilis, Myrtle Active Extract, Amaranth Lipids, Jojoba, Grape and Pomegranate oil infused moisturizer and set out to see what it would do.

Meg here! Eleni and I are back in the kitchen (God help us!)
I get awful terrible period pain. I'm always one step away from the heating pad. This remedy to cure cramps really did subside some of my pain! Believe it or not-I'm really not all that athletic-Shocker, I know. However, just being a typical stress case brings me enough knots and tension (my back is ridiculous) that this Type-A can go head to head with any marathon runner on ache!
I used the extra as a homemade massage oil and it worked wonders on all of my tension! Here's the essential oil secret recipe...
Hopefully some of you were able to make a trip to your essential oil aisle and can give this a try at home the next time you're ready to have an ache meltdown!
Megken here - I am loving Manly Mondays. However, I have to say that I am of the opinion that the manliest thing I do with grooming is to wear a beard because in nature it distinguishes our gender. But facial hair is not for everyone, or more relevant, it's not for every guy's wife or girlfriend. I have a beard ever since I could grow one. I never enjoyed shaving, maybe because I was horrified by memories of all those nicks and cuts my father would get from shaving. He eventually gave in and grew a beard. I was convinced it was because he felt super foolish putting tiny pieces of toilet tissue on his bloody nick-spots. For this product I wanted to have a proper review so Meg asked a real "shaver" to test out the Murad Cleansing Shave . I however had to try it. Even though I haven't put a blade to my face in over 15 year, I usually just use my trimmer, but I had to give it a test because of my devotion to Megsmakeup.com. However, I don't have a razor. That didn't stop me! I'm pretty determined. Shhhh, I took one of Meg's pink Venus razors (so much for distinguishing our gender), lathered up my "under-beard"- basically my neck, and went at it. I'll tell you my thoughts in the comments. Here is DavidLovesMeg's review, a man with Baby-Face-Skin:
DavidLovesMeg here! Thank you for the compliment on my baby face skin Megken. I am very glad to be a new part of the megsmakeup.com family and look forward to learning good skin care tips from everyone. Before I even get into reviewing this product today, and with all due respect to megken, I must tell you that I disagree completely when he says the manliest way a man can express his manliness is to wear a beard. A freshly and properly shaved face can still express this just the same, but also with a serious dash of sophistication!
I am in denial: Goddess Granny is not EVEN close to feeling that Holiday spirit. It's 70 degrees, the sun is shining, the damn perky music is playing, but it simply feels like the 'joy filled days" are simply something that MUST be weeks away and not right around the corner? I haven't started to hyper-ventilate yet and have sworn to have all my shopping done by the week's end. Even doing most of it online is a struggle and I'm not sure why except that I'm just having trouble as a consumer narrowing down the choices for a purchase because there is simply too much of everything to choose from!
Say you want to buy a sweater for someone: can't begin to list the many colors, styles, prices and qualities you have to pick from....multiply that choice by the number of gifts you "need" to buy and you too will be reaching for a bottle of something with a high alcohol content ! While I do think it's marvelous that we live in a product and image-driven age that gives us everything in the world at our fingertips, I for one also break out into hives at the thought of having to guess if something I want to give as a personal gift will be "nice enough" or "right" at any price.
MissRo here and I'm back from my incredible trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil. What a city!!! I think it's one thing to go to Rio De Janeiro, but it's another thing to go to the heart of Brazil, no the heart of South America and experience all that this city has to offer. Oh, and you've never tasted better food in your life! Whether it's a top restaurant or a "fast" food place, everything is so delicious and fresh!
OK, back to beauty... One of my favorite products in beauty is eyeliner. Whether it's liquid or a pencil, it really helps to define the eyes. I'm partial to liquid, especially Lancome's liquid eyeliner. It's an all-in-one tube with the liquid liner inside with a thin, easy-to-use applicator. All you do is shake it and apply the liner and you have perfectly lined eyes. So, it was time to try Dr. Dima's Line Me Up, Line Me DownAstro-Orbital Accent.
Jasmine here! As the official Black Friday of the market place as well as my first official posting for Black Fridays, I thought I would use today as sort of an informative piece that I hope will help you with your holiday shopping as you take advantage of the great sales and product offerings going on today.
Have you ever used a moisturizer for your skin, a conditioner for your hair, or a moisture balm for your lips that worked so well in the first few applications only to find the awe inspiring results quickly fade with use? Have you ever looked at the ingredient list wondering what you have gotten so used to in the product that your hair/skin is no longer responding? I think almost everyone has had this experience at one time or another.
The most common reason for this is that some beauty products contain various synthetic fillers - mainly because they are much less expensive and easier to obtain - that coat the areas of concern giving the illusion of repair instead of actually treating and replenishing with whole ingredients. Today I'm focusing on mineral oil - one of the most prevalent ingredients you will find in beauty products (especially ethnically targeted brands) yet the least effective and most damaging in my honest opinion. Don't worry ladies...I will lay out my whole list of synthetic products to avoid in the near future.. Mineral oil - also known as petroleum, petrolatum, paraffin and squalene (though the latter two are less harsh / concentrated forms) - is a by-product of crude oil that gasoline companies view as unusable waste. Now if this stuff is not good enough to put in our cars why would we want to use this on our bodies?
BabyLove here! When I was a teenager, I remember buying Body Butter from The Body Shop, and not being very impressed. I thought it was a little greasy, and never bought another tube of it. So, still after 10 years I was a little hesitant about their offer to send out some Buriti Baby Butter. I'm happy to announce that I am now a huge fan!
The Buriti Tree, found in the Amazon rain forest, produces the oil used in this baby body butter. There is a whole line made from this, including wash, shampoo, and massage gel. The line is tear free and free from artificial colors and alcohol. Paraben and preservative free, the butter is perfect for sensitive skin.
The butter is not overly thick, it's more like a souffle, and smoothes on nicely. This time around, it isn't one bit greasy. The first time smelling it, I thought it was going to be a little too "floral" smelling for me (I have a thing with floral patterns, floral smells, etc. My house growing up was adorned with floral everything), but turned out to smell much less overwhelming once applied to the skin. I have used this on both my kids, and myself, and really believe that it does leave the skin much more moisturized, especially now that the weather is turning.
Meg here! Way back over a year ago I was absolutely going crazy over my Crystalift here's the post. It just makes so much sense to me to have my own micro-dermabrasion machine. This baby is $199.00 and Crystalift is offering free shipping. My dermatologist charges $350 for just one micro-dermabrasion in his office. The Crystalift is going to give you the exact same treatment whenever you want it-no making an appointment necessary.
Gigi here! Help--please pray that Miss Meg pardons this turkey (as in me) much like the president for skipping a product review to offer thanks. To be perfectly honest, I cannot help myself--the keys are typing by themselves because this is the consummate holiday to express what you mean to me I am greatly blessed with my family, but I consider you my "second" family. Take that as a huge compliment, please.
Ah, where to begin? With Miss Meg, of course, a petite and gorgeous one with a heart the size of a football field who sincerely loves her reviewers and, more importantly, her readers! Who else would plan a trip to the Madonna Inn and allows readers to earn makeup? Who else bares her soul so that we are comfortable relating the events in our own lives? Who else works non-stop to give it her all and does? Who else takes a stand on issues like Michael Vick? There is another quote I love which she embodies: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" (~Edmund Burke). She has set the platinum standard for beautiful women, from inside to out. We are the few, the proud, the Megheads! It's okay that I learned you are basting your turkey in pink, Meg, after applying cosmetics and dressing it. (Not stuffing--she's using real outfits and putting the bird in variations of fuchsia frocks before and after it is cooked. She's a fashionista and a beauty diva.) We still love you more than you can fathom!
