Meg here! We have such a great give-away! Google Marco Pelusi! He's won award after award-his celebrity clients are box office gold and we are lucky enough to have him! I could be such a beyotch right now. I went to an ultra famous salon that is written up everywhere. They actually have the camera's on them non-stop. The $800 a hair-do stylist said to me, "Oh, use this"..When none of the footage was taping. "It's the BEST out there!" I was so excited, yet so shy to tell her, that not only did I have this Marco Pelusi Color Guard Conditioner but it is the best hair product I've also ever found! With this item he's minutes away from his own show! I was offered free haircare from a very nationally known salon. I was blown away (pun intended) at the offer but I get offered the VERY BEST for FREE! I am an extremely lucky girl. I'm also smart(ish) and I know the best. Marco Pelusi is an expert at chemistry, color and sex appeal. When I left his chair I went to walk to parking and I had men (not just truckdriver's- but my self-esteem needs them too, yell out how hot I was!) Megken said "I love you no matter what, but OMG you look so so hot!" How hot is that? Being told you're hot makes you want to act and feel sexy! We have 2 colorguards to give away and-if you can get to LA- ONE FREE CUT, COLOR AND STYLE FROM MR. MARCO PELUSI He will rock your world!
Sweetassgal on the war path still looking for the ideal paraben free and most "natural" mascara I can find!
I've always had a mini-obsession with women who have two things...luscious lips and lashes! I have neither (she says weeping) and as such have spent countless hours and hundreds of dollars on anything that will plump up either feature. Some youthful attempts were quiet insane and I'm ashamed to admit even a little on the idiotic side. I've played with falsies (lashes I mean) and nearly glued my eye shut while simultaneously pulling out half my lashes. I've pondered permanent makeup to increase the outer line of my lips but came to my senses at the first thought of impending blood. I even spent the entire morning before my Freshman school picture practicing how to hold my lips and smile in a way that wouldn't make my teensy lips disappear. It did not work of course, and I ended up looking like I was having a minor stroke in my picture. One word...RETAKES!
Alas, full lips and lashes just don't come with my German/Welsh genes and I have conceded defeat to my beautiful friend Jennifer's heartier and more robust Italian genetics. If my genes and hers got into a catfight mine would end up pummeled into the ground while hers batted its full lashes and blew perfect pucker kisses to the crowd yelling Ciao baby!!!
Meg here and I have a whole new family! I grew up in not the best circumstances in a very small town outside of Boston. Let's just say my parents were/are "absent" It's fine-life happens to everyone! Let's just move on! I say that, and I whole-heartdly believe it. Smile and the world smiles with you. Cry and you cry alone. So many of you have emailed me that I must have gone to a fancy school, I must "know people" I'm just "so lucky!" I am not from any family that anyone would do favors for. I never went to college. I walk under ladders and step on cracks...I'm not very lucky. Why would anyone want to help such a loser? Here is a tutorial for all blog writers. I beleive you must pay it forward and here are the keys to my success.... In the beginning I begged for product, no one would send it without a very formal email on how I would help expand the brand. This led to getting to know every key product placer. As the site grows the community learns, It's very hard to throw the party and build a community. Who knows how it looks from the outside. I feel like the party was a success so I am lucky enough to have Stylemama report from the field! Here she is! What do you get when you combine make up, energy drinks and the press? A meg'smakeup.com re-launch party for the record books! The Madame of Makeup does not disappoint. The word of the night: Flawless! As expected, Meg was a total knock out and of course her hair and makeup looked gorgeous! She was dressed in a fantastic pink cocktail dress that just happened to be the same color as the gift bags and the cocktails! What else would you expect? The girls from “Her” energy drinks hosted an open bar, featuring their light pink concoction. Vodka chasers optional. Ironically, it looked as if each carbonated cocktail was purposely chosen as the perfect pink accent for Meg's entire look. Too cute!
Happy Monday! Let's all stick together and smile and try to get through this week together! Meg here, I know we wish we were at Friday 5:30 but let's try to enjoy what we've got. You've made it through many weeks, you can make it through this one. This is an accidental post. I had this stuff in my medicine cabinet for months and wasn't quite sure how to use it. A bottle of Wen Lavender Oil with the old fashioned dropper just stared at me night after night as I reached for my saline solution. Putting on a relaunch event is stressful. Everything I read said that "lavender was a most soothing scent." I was lucky enough to have this Wen Lavender Oil on hand. What happened? It went a few drops into my hot bath and made me breathe the calming scents as my muscles relaxed. It made my skin soft but nothing to write home about. I dipped my head under the water a few times and got all of my hair wet, after my shampoo and conditioner, I thought "Oh, for shits and giggles I'm going to just add a bunch of this lavendar oil into it." I added about 8 drops, I added a bunch. I added enough that when I woke up this morning my hair was stiff. It was like I added mousse to wet hair. I slept peacefully soundly that night-on that level the lavender did work like a calming dream! I have dyed, heat damaged, thin, processed hair. What the Hell was I thinking adding all this lavender oil to my fried head? After doing my shampoo and conditioner routine (same as yours!) I did not need my detangler lotion. I did not need my smoothing serum. I could not believe how soft, shiny, healthy and gorgeous smelling my hair was and felt!
A Spring Chic-y Goddess Granny here: OMG...can I tell you that I'm actually nervous about writing my review this week??? This site is SO freakin' classy and sassy now that even this ol' houndog will have to glam-up her act to follow suit! What was "wonderful" is now simple "the BEST" and I'm so thrilled to be a part of it as well as being thrilled for Meg who only continues to give us all more reasons to love her! Who could ever hate on a woman who only makes the best in all of us even better in so many ways?
In that spirit of "sharing", I'm gonna' introduce y'all to one of my private stash companies this week: a Mom and daughter team from Texas who are truly making their mark in the handcrafted bath and body market with their original and over-the top marvelous bath and body treats! Baths and all things that you can buy for the tub and after are my addiction and therapy! NOTHING delights me more than a tub full of hot water waiting to be "decorated" by something scented and delightful, some good wine, and a bit of time to kill...my idea of heaven/nirvana,any day or time!
I discovered them through ETSY (a truly wonderful resource for all things handcrafted) and now they have their own colorful site as well! They use only the finest botanicals, natural butters, oils, and herbs in their creations and honestly,I am a total bath-junkie and have yet to find products that rival theirs for color, scent and for the way they make you feel during and after a hot soak! People are raving about "Moons" and with good reason: they offer products that are not only designed to function perfectly as botanical bath yummies but they have a sense of style and humor that can't be beat as well!
Meg here! Last night was the relaunch party for the new look of Megsmakeup.com, we partnered with Girls In tech and had such a blast!
Megken was running around snapping pictures of all the guests when he captured the video posted. Stylemama and Katehrm777 (Two very popular contributors decided to grace me with their presence ( I've never met any of our new contributors in person!) I was so excited to meet them! They are as beautiful, funny and kind in person as they are on the site.
Anyhow, while Ken was running around with this camera he was also taking little video bits here and there! GUESS WHAT HE CAUGHT ON TAPE! It's totally authentic and perfectly shows how amazing you all are!
It’s Wednesday’s Body Beautiful with Jeanasina coming to you LIVE from the re-vamped, state-of-the-art, new and improved, gloriously informative, Megsmakeup! I received an e-mail from L’Oreal entitled “Beauty on a Budget”. “Find out which of our products are beauty award winners…” I went directly to the NEW shampoo and conditioner they were featuring exclusively for color treated hair which was the new EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System! They have 3 categories for this new line which has about 5 options of products within each particular hair desirability factor to use to either moisturize, volumize and/or smooth your color treated hair! I decided to look into the smoothing products; the shampoo and conditioner! The product line strongly suggests you use the complimentary products TOGETHER for optimal results! That's just what I am doing! I have been using Pureology – by far the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used for my ba-zillion year old colored blonde locks which was HIGHLY recommended buy my current hair stylist professional! I love the Pureology smell and I loved the way it has changed the condition of my frazzeled hair but I DO NOT love the price! When I saw that the L'oreal EverPure line was sulfate free and that many reviews I read on other websites RAVED about this shampoo (especially former Pureology fan-club presidents) I decided to try this tonight! I went to Target on my lunch hour (they actually had this new product mixed in with the more expensive known name brands Target carries rather than in the 'inexpensive' section where the other shampoos under $10.00 reside. I chose the ‘smoothing’ line shampoo and conditioner ($6.99 each) and now,we are going to have a hand’s on experience with this new product! Velcro on your terry cloth wraparound and let’s get this hair washing party started!
Sweetassgal chiming in today with a completely organic, super affordable and OH SO easy Do It Yourself home foot exfoliation recipe!
Like everyone out there we are all looking for ways to cut back and reign in our spending. One thing I've had to give up...pedicures. Sigh. This just saddens me to no end because I actually view pedicures as good hygiene and maintenance...not as a luxury. Alas, $25 plus tip IS a luxury these days so it's do it yourself at home for me. I am a barefoot and/or flip flop junkie. Even in the winter. I am ALWAYS hot and my feet are like little pudgy furnaces (I think that's why my husband married me...so he can stick his COLD feet on mine in bed). As a result of this I rarely like to have my feet enclosed in shoes and it takes a toll on them. Even my high heels are mostly strappy, slingbacked and open toed which equals exposure and as such good maintenance is vital. No one wants to see ill maintained heels and piddies poking out beneath my gorgeous Via Spigas!
Word of the day (remember Pee Wee's Playhouse?) everyone make noise! RELAUNCH!! How does the dictionary define our word of the day? Relaunch: to reintroduce a product or brand to the market after changes or improvements have been made. Part of Speech: verb, noun How does Meg define Relaunch? Relaunch is to incorporate all the great ideas that have ever been suggested. Then I really nicely asked LAFred to help me build it.
After so many thoughts and dreams and prescriptions filled... I bring you the new and improved - Megsmakeup.com!
Gigi here! Gigi, Dabbing Her Eyes in True Drama Queen Fashion over Disappearing Semi-Drugstore Deals . . .
"Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got `till it's gone? They paved paradise to put up a parking lot." (Joni Mitchell, "Big Yellow Taxi")
I have a confession to make. My skincare line of choice for many years has been Joey New York, not one purchased at Rite Aid, Walgreen's, CVS, or any drugstore. This is one of the rare companies which offers products for all types of skin, from that plagued by acne and red patches to dry skin and deep lines with the same predictably excellent results. On a tight budget, I've actually saved pocket change for my Joey "fixes." Withdrawal from Joey New York is not pretty . . .
