Goddess Granny here! and I definitely echo (and live!) this sentiment which is also printed around the cute lil' mirror inside the fabulous packaging created by "the Balm" to present one of their latest shadow/blush products...
I am reading a very cool book: "Simply Irresistible" by Ellen T White. It's not your typical "how to be gorgeous" or "what not to be seen wearing" book but a juicy and beautifully researched and written volume which basically describes how some of THE most captivating and memorable women in the world did and do what they were best at in order to better themselves in many arenas.I am loving it and I hadn't realized how many and how incredible some of these "self-created sirens" out there through history and currently. The author herself is mesmerising in that she writes in a way that all women can learn from and enjoy, I highly suggest that you check it out if you ever had an inkling that you wanted to be a bit more dangerous, unforgettable, or just more fascinating in general!
Meg here, I have not been able to get on-line. I got my new laptop and all will be in order in the house of megsmakeup.com soon!
I had this friend, she really could turn anything into an argument. I've since cut the friendship loose because one can only take walking on eggshells for so long. Anyhow, we had a tattoo discussion. She was in favor of them. I'm not really into anything enough to permanently etch it on my skin for eternity. Her take on this was that I have commitment issues. My take was that I didn't want to be searching for derma-blend for spaghetti straps.
She said "Everyone that has a tattoo gets one because it stands for something."
Stylemama here filling in for Gigi. Every time I try a new product I secretly hope for mind-blowing results after just one use. I know........scandalous! And then it happened. All it took was a cleansing bar made by CM Naturals called, Seaweed Soap. Unrealistic optimism rewarded........check! It started with a recommendation from the lovely and charming Inkbunny she loves this cleanser and now I do too!
To better understand my excitement, it might help to know a little bit about my very complex complexion. I have extremely reactive, sensitive skin. I also have some hybrid form of rosacea and acne, a little keratosis pilaris (KP) and let's not forget the eyebrow eczema! All of this is shaded in nicely with just a bit too much redness. Fortunately, all of these conditions are in a mild state and with proper care are not terribly difficult to manage. We must work with what we are given, even if it is a rainbow-colored complexion. Be proud of it, I am. Hopefully, my rainbow will be someone else's sunshine!
Sweetassgal here! bringing you some SweetSpot love this Green Chi Tuesday!
"I believe in the sweet spot ... opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days."--Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) to Annie Savoy (Susan Sarandon)
I doubt anyone who has ever seen Bull Durham can forget Crash's passionate rant to Annie to which she replied in a melting hot butter voice..."Oh my!". I love that movie and watch it every time its on just for that scene. I think its one of the sexiest scenes ever committed to celluloid that doesn't actually involve sex (much like when Robert Redford washes Meryl Strep's hair in Out of Africa...yeowsa!). Annie's character just oozes confidence and sexuality. I'm in awe of her command of seduction. If could harness even HALF of her sexual charisma AND pull off garters and an apron in broad daylight I'd be one hot mama!
Goddess Granny here! We all have our own personal and ever so frustrating beauty-related "issue" that drives each of us up a wall: I've yet to meet of or hear of a female (or anyone from that matter!) that no matter how much they have going for them, how much they have access to, or how much they can spend in both time and money that isn't just miserable about that "one lil' annoying 'thang" on a regular basis.
Mine is gaposis...no,it's nothing you can coverup with a breath mint,it's the simple fact that I'm basically built like a Barbie on steroids and my body is a nightmare when it comes to fitting clothing properly. I go from a "classy Mimi of 4" to downright "sleazy" in a matter of seconds if I dare to wear a fitted blouse or God forbid, an animal print, LOL! (and I do love them!)
I can rarely button anything in front as it's intended!
Gigi here, with a Deeply Discounted and Deceptful Drugstore Deal!
Before I get to the "good stuff," kindly allow me to vent about some things I detest seeing on myself: Gray hair, occasional strands of-gasp!-white, and roots. My grandmother's red hair remained intact until she was in her late sixties. My mother was nearly a full-fledged brunette until then. On the other hand, my brilliant natural auburn, the hue which caused people to stop me in the middle of streets in downtown Pittsburgh, was, sadly, not as long-lived . . . sing three verses of Springsteen's "Glory Days" here.
What can be worse than gray hair? Hair coloring! Please stop and consider the ingredients if you've never used it. Peroxide is generally included to literally strip your own inherent pigment, to be replaced with a man-made version. Sometimes it is combined with ammonia (yes, as in scrub-the-bathroom-floor-ammonia), which causes the hair shaft to swell in order to accept stain. Yes, you may hav e thick, radiant tresses immediately after coloring, but your hair has been forever changed for the worse. The texture is only temporary and you will spend the remainder of your time caring for it.
Hi Lovelies! It's another Body Beautiful Wednesday with your host Jeanasina and I hope this day is finding everyone in the pink! When I think about pink - two things come to mind. Pink glowing youthful skin and a nice supple round delicious Hostess Sno Ball pink snack cake! Yeah baby! That's what I'm talking about! Recently my Harley Man and I went for a walk and after walking in the winter wonderland that is Minnesota we had pink healthy glows to our faces and we walked our pink faced selves into a day old bakery and there on the shelf, waiting for me, was a beautifully preserved package of my old favorite, Hostess Pink Sno Balls! My Harley man said "YOU WANT THOSE?" He looked at the drool flowing down my face and noticed my eyes which were now as big as fried eggs as I stared at the package and he realized that YES, INDEED, I DID WANT THOSE! I carried my prize home like a treasure and when I finally ate it, I moaned with pure ecstasy with every single bite I took - it brought back so many youthful memories of absolutely loving those Hostess Sno Ball concoctions! I learned today that those Sno Balls first came out in 1947 and like me they are 60 years old! No wonder I can relate to them! I'm sure my face was pink that day with the feelings of new found love or in this case, an old love come back to give my lips and taste buds a melt-down! My Harley man sat next to me and watched as I moaned and purred, grinning like a fool with a big coconut and marshmallow chocolate cake cream filling smile on my face! He said something like "I'm glad you are happy dear."That's a good man.
Hi Lovelies! Sweetassgal Hello lovelies! Sweetassgal here to let you guys in on a really great skin care secret...what you put on your skin really matters! Okay, so no shocker there but stop for a minute and think about that. We can take medicine through dermal patches on our skin which shows how we absorb all things placed on it into our bodies and into our organs. What we put on our skin and how we treat it makes all the difference. You wouldn't drink harmful chemicals or pollutants so why would you ingest them through your skin in products that are supposed to beautify? Unfortunately most skin care products are laden with them and others just pretend to be natural and organic with cleaver packaging and marketing. There is no law against using the words on packaging so its buyer beware. Unless of course its Certified Organic just like Organic Apoteke's Detox Face Mask and skin care line!
Organic Apoteke's Detox Face Mask is a specially formulated clarifying mask that boosts microcirculation. This quality delivers incredients to your skin at a cellular level, increasing nurishment and oxygenation of the skin. This causes what they affectionately call "beauty blush" or a flushing of the skin which signifies the increased circulation and stimulation of your cells. As a result cellular waste is carried away from the skin and you are left with a glowing complexion that is balanced and oil production is reduced.
Meg here! I do it all the time! Maybe I'll want to change tops after trying to get the "perfect outfit" together...I'll put the deodorant on last most of the time. Sometimes I forget though, and there's nothing more annoying then catching those white streaks down the side of my shirt.
I use to try to keep baby wipes in my bathroom, on hand for times like these. If the shirt was made of anything besides cotton then I'd have a moist spot where my streaks were. Great. Now I don't have deodorant marks but I am left looking like I have some freak perspiration issue.
I don't have a baby in my house and now I don't have the wipes either! I have a big girl product specifically made for getting rid of those deodorant mishaps..The Smudge-Sponge to the rescue!
I like how these also work great on getting mineral makeup off my t-shirts, because, yeah. I am a little clumsy. There's a bunch in a pack so you can put one in your desk, car, powder room and be confidently streak-free!
Sharond here! Ahhh...Valentines Day. Do you believe people can fall in love at first site? I did and we now have been married 22 years, 11 months. It was a first for both of us and neither of us was looking for anything serious. Jay and I worked at the same company though we didn't know each other except for a quick smile while passing in the hall. One Friday afternoon a friend invited me to happy hour. When I arrived at the lounge, I looked around and didn't see anyone I knew except Jay. I went over and introduced myself to him and discovered he too had been invited by my friend. We had a couple drinks, talked and waited for everyone to show up. Finally after a couple hours we knew that this happy hour was no party so we decided to go out to dinner. Jay ordered octopus and I couldn't believe he would eat that. As we were eating, those suckers were sticking to his teeth and I couldn't help but laugh and dread a goodnight kiss. Later we went dancing and really had the most wonderful night. After that first night, we went out every evening for the next week and then he popped the question, on his knees no less. We both knew it was real. A few nights ago on Nightline they talked about love at first site and the consensus was there is such a thing, it does happen more often than first thought and that it can last a lifetime. I am a firm believer in true love at first site.
We both wanted to do something different this Valentine's day. We decided to not celebrate on the 14th, but take a long weekend starting the 20th and spend it in Denver playing tourist. For this getaway I wanted a fragrance that would be light and subtle so Jay would have to lean in and nuzzle my ear to get a whiff while bonding all over again while listening to soft jazz. I was thinking something romantic when Crabtree and Evelyn came to my mind. Looking over their products, I found a body wash, body lotion, body cream and a body shimmer mist in Vanilla Blanc which had my two of my favorite scents, vanilla and jasmine. The items were on sale for $3.00 each! so I ordered the set thinking this would be make my skin soft, smooth and glowing and I could go without perfume. I tried the products last week to see how they smelled on me, how long they would last and most of all, did I look like I was all dewy from the shimmer mist. I liked the products and the scent was soft and sexy though it didn't last very long. The next day I tried the products again and this time added my favorite Lush scent, Silky Underwear, over the Vanilla Blanc products and came up with a winner. Finally I tried the shimmer mist expecting a shimmering gold highlights like Crabtree and Evelyn describe.
