Katie here! It really is a man's world. No one thinks anything they say is silly when sitting along a looong conference room table. They get paid more. They get to pee standing up! And, here's the kicker: somtimes their skincare products are harder-working and more action packed than those typically marketed to us women! So I've gathered together my top five picks for some steal-from-his-medicine-cabinet-worthy men's products:

1) Jack Black Intense Therapy - Cures every sort of chapped lip there ever was AND it has SPF 25. Even celebs like Lindsey Lohan carry these around! And they're a very reasonable $7!

2) Anthony Logistics Mud Scrub Exfoliating Bar - " This multi-purpose soap is enriched with Dead Sea mud and oatmeal to exfoliate and smooth, and glycerin and aloe vera to moisturize and soothe." It's the heaven's gift to shaving. It smooths and exfoliates for a soft, close shave and its a great tool for before a self-tanner application.

3) Billy Jealousy's Combat Lines Face Moisturizer SPF 30 - a unique take on a daily moisturizer. It has a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB shield. A pattened aloe-vera derived compound called Hydrapol helps to correct the visible signs of sun damage and a powerful punch of antioxidant vitamins A,C,&E to help combat sun-damage. A really good standby for a day outside at the lake or beach or horse races (whatever!) when you want something heavier-duty than your standard daily moisturizer.

Sweetassgal here, to bring you the best of all things natural and organic by way of Green Chi Tuesdays!

New Years Eve was a quiet affair for me this year. With the hubby off quading in Nevada, two teenage kids both going to parties now, and a 12:30 curfew to wait up for I had to be responsible Mommie and trade in the celebratory cocktails for a 4 hour "Absolutely Fabulous" marathon on BBC. For those of you who don't know...Ab Fab is a British comedy about two 40 something completely inappropriate "substance-abusing fashion and fad-obsessed Londoners who value fame and style over substance" named Patsy and Edina. For those of you who DO know...its nearly impossible to watch Ab Fab and not crave a cocktail..."Veuve and Bourb DAHLING...Veuve and Bourb!". Since booze was definitely out I settled in to play fashion/beauty editor Patsy Stone complete with mile high beehive and red overly pouty lips. As Patsy says ''One snap of my fingers and I can raise hemlines so high the whole world's your gynecologist.'' Well...maybe sweetassgal can't do that but I can introduce you to an absolutely fabulous line of natural makeup and skincare!

Gabriel cosmetics was created by Gabriel DeSantino as a way to bring natural health and beauty products to people incorporating his families knowledge of the healing powers of the sea. Taught by his grandmother in Mexico to use seaweed, kelp, and a variety of herbs to make homeopathic cosmetics, he learned how the right combination of sea-derived botanicals not only revitalize the skin and keep it looking younger, but also reduce stress and help balance and remineralize the body in a natural and pleasant manner. All Gabriel cosmetics are made from 100% natural ingredients, no synthetic chemicals or animal by-products are utilized and no animal testing is ever done. These environmentally safe products contain the highest percentage of natural ingredients and come in a line of Gabriel Color cosmetics, Gabriel Skin care, Zuzu Luxe European Spa quality products, and even a Clean Kids line of shampoos and soaps to keep the kiddies chemical and additive free! The entire line is all natural, lead free, infused with essential oils and first press botanicals for the ultimate purity.

JOINING OF HERBS!

SharonD I am a person who has always put my money in facial products that are suppose to do something, erase lines, brighten, lift or whatever. I ignored the toner or bought a cheaper brand as I figured it was really not the important part of a beauty routine. Sometimes I felt ordinary witch hazel could do the job. In the last couple years I have been buying the better toners and still did not notice any great improvement.

A couple weeks before Christmas, I went way out east of where I live to a small one stop sign town to find a little store that supposedly sells exceptional organic and therapeutic products and handmade gifts all created by locals. I was pleasantly surprised by the store, but was ecstatic to discover there were items by Joining of Herbs. I had met these ladies last summer at the farmers market when they were just starting their business. Armed with a whole batch of new face and body products they now sell their items at this store to supplement their mail order business. After I gushed over bath salts, bath butters, massage oils, inhaling the therapeutic essential oils, I decided to buy the toner among other items.

At the shop I did not open the toner and when I went to use it that first night, I almost lost my breath. I was not prepared for the strong vinegary, tea tree oil scent. I used it anyway and decided to give this toner a try and see if there was any benefit. Faithfully twice a day after cleansing I put some of this toner on a cotton ball and dabbed my face and neck, let dry and then went with my normal routine of serums and moisturizers. I did get used to the vinegary scent as it reminded me of my mother pouring vinegar over our hair when we were children as a conditioning rinse. After about a week I noticed my face was smooth and exceptionally clean. A few days later, I met a friend for lunch and she asked if I had just had "breakfast in bed" because I looked so radiant. How can a toner do that? As I kept using this product I found other benefits on my skin. My pores look smaller, the telltale blackheads are gone, skin is soft and tightened but not dry, and my turkey neck is less noticeable. I also find that I am using less makeup and can now skip the concealer under my eyes. My makeup also seems to last longer without needing touch ups.

This toner comes in a 4 ounce bottle for under $5.00;

MEGS MAKEUP PERFUME!

Fri, 01/02/2009 - 10:03am
  • Fragrant Fridays
  • Body

megsmakeupperfumeGoddess Granny here with a special edition of Fragrant Fridays!

To my way of thinking, the sense of smell is probably the one I enjoy the most! Yes,the others have their strong points but when I sit and think about how a moment changes my life, why someone won't leave my thoughts, or the fact that in my family, food is love, I am constantly reminded how how something or someone smells and it makes me stand up and notice!

I tend to categorize smells too...I know, there's a bit of freak in me too although it does wear red lipstick...men that are hot, women who are not, rooms that are right, and the electricity of preparation for one of "those" moments in life: I wore "White Shoulders" perfume to my first prom and "Miss Dior" when I married. My grandma smelled of "Arpege" and my Dad of whiskey and sunshine...they are gone now but I have their scent with me always to remember!

I am a perfume/scentaholic of the first degree! I love products, makeup, and all that stuff but if you asked me what I enjoy MOST about being a girl,I'd tell you perfume and high heels without batting a false eyelash!

I wore "Angel" for 15 years:I was in Hong Kong when it launched, that was in the day of the supermodel and glam-hype. There was a BIG fuss made at the Thierry Mugler store. I was given a large crystal bottle of the beautiful blue scent as a gift. It became "me" everyone knew me when I entered a room because of the luscious scent! I love it still but a couple of years ago,my husband actually whined he could "no longer smell it on me" I couldn't smell it either so I shed my skin yet again and stopped wearing it.I have since then been dabbling in the esoteric, the cult, the funky, the indy, and the unusual scents out there with no earthly intension of ever allowing one scent to define me again. Life is simply too short Kiss

I received a beautiful square-red box in my package from Meg today: it was carefully wrapped in tissue but I just knew it was something amazing by the scent...OMG...even on a cold,dreary-day it smelled of ripe fruits, seductive flowers, and that rare "thing" that happens when you are warm and totally satisfied...catching my breath here!
