WINNER OF THE TINGE! CONGRATS MACGIRL!

Tue, 01/20/2009 - 3:26pm
  • Miscellaneous

Meg here! I knew you ladies would not disappoint me! I had so many laughs reading your "Razor" stories and it wasn't easy to pick a winner but I had to... Macgirl managed to combine humour, death, sentimentalism, an annoying sister-in-law and scarring traumatic proof her parents could be kinky. Win! Win! Win!

Congratulations Macgirl! I hope your Tinge gift helps wipe away any post traumatic stress! Think of the relief your survivors will breathe one day knowing you just really liked your electric razor!

Congratulations Macgirl ! Winning post follows!

my "razor" story takes place about 9 years ago. After my father passed my oldest brother, his wife and son went to finish cleaning out the house one fall day. Let me add this before I go on brothers wife is one of those people who never forget anything and tend to think she is better than everyone. Thay married after my mothers death and we had always told stories of how wholesome and wonderfull she was. Ok so we are in my parents bed room looking through thing to keep and things we had to let go. I came across my moms wedding dress in the box she keept it in, I had seen this box many times over the years and little did I know the secrets it held. I open the box and right there in the corner of the box that held the virginal white dress my mother had professed her love to my father in over 30 years before lay a "RAZOR"? O my God I thought I can not let my dear old sister in law see this!!

VICKERY & CLARKE FOOT AND LEG SPRAY!

Tue, 01/20/2009 - 1:14am
  • Green Chi Tuesdays
  • Body

Sweetassgal here! Fewer things are sexier on a woman than a gorgeous pair of delicate, strappy heels. The way they accent your toes, arch your foot and extend your calves...its all perfection and I should know because I own about 30 pairs of strappy sandal heels in a rainbow of colors and embellishments. It's a sickness and I've wisely chosen NOT to to seek treatment. Sometimes a new pair of shoes is all the therapy I need and in my humble opinion keeps me as happy as a kid with chocolate cake. Through the years they've always stuck by me and never let me down. No matter what's going on in my life or how I feel above the ankles, if I can look down at my feet and see two shining hot pink metallic strappies with rhinestone encrusted buckles staring back at me...all is right with the world!

As with all things in life we must pay for the labors of our love and for any girl who has spent a night clubbing in four inch stilettos, they can attest that no one reaps the rewards of wearing such stunning footwear without paying for it with aching, swollen and tired feet. But hey...that's the way the Christian Louboutin crumbles right? Well ladies...I'm here to tell you not to ditch those toe pinching pumps yet because I've found the perfect antidote...Vickery and Clarke Foot and Leg Spray! This relatively new line exclusive to CVS pays homage to Alice Vickery and Isabella Clark, two pioneering English pharmacists in the 1800's who utilized fresh herbs and flower botanicals in their science and research. The Vickery & Clarke of today is a modern blend of old fashioned sensibilities paired with up to date ideals. Made of 94% natural ingredients and Paraben, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate, Phthalate, and Petrolatum's free, each item in this collection of cleansers, masks, body washes and more is a true indulgence and a steal at under $15 or less. Though I'm sure I'll be trying many more items from the line my interest was peaked by the foot and leg spray and I gave it a try after a long day of standing on concrete at a company event. I have to say just a few sprays of the sumptuous smelling concoction and my feet were like new again. It immediately cools and refreshes tired feet and I will definitely keep this baby around for any time I spend more than just a few minutes in my oh so favorite but turkish torture chamber Via Spiga Mary Jane's. It's a shoe imperative!

TINGE RAZOR GIVE AWAY!

Mon, 01/19/2009 - 11:45am
  • Mondays With Meg
  • Body

Meg here! Happy MLK day! Hopefully all of you ladies are getting to relax!I wanted to let you all know about a new, relaxing razor! This maybe the most fun I've ever had with something that can shave your legs! This razor is over $150.00 and I'm mailing one out tomorrow to a lucky winner!

"Meg, for $150 this razor better make me smile!" It will.

"Meg, for $150 this razor better give me a rosy, shiny glow!" It will.

Meg, for $150 this razor better make me shout out in ecstasy! It will and here's why!

The Tinge Razor is multi-functional, yes it looks so much like just an electric razor but its not! you can leave it out to charge and not worry if anyone sees it. Fool everyone!

It is a high-end razor. How high end? Well, it's 32 different speeds of massage high-end. It's bring it on a weekend away trip without any embarrassment at the airport high-end. There's no awkward Rabbit habit encounters with TSA! My favorite razor comes in a sleek box with Tinge pleasure gel, razor cartridges and the charger base. When I take my "razor" off the charger I have 3 hours of straight use without any "dulling of the blade!"

LANEIGE SHIMMERING MULTI CREAM!

Sun, 01/18/2009 - 1:59pm
  • Xotic Items
  • Face
  • Body

Sharond here! Now that Christmas is only a memory, we need to get ready for all the big events coming up in the entertainment industry like the Oscars, Golden Globes, Music Awards and many more. I love to look at all the beautiful dresses and of course, the stars makeup. How do they make themselves look so radiant?

A number of years ago I was in Las Vegas over the Christmas season and my face was getting so dry I was in pain. I had my son with me and of course he didn't want to go with me to Sephora for help. He happened to be on a sushi kick during that time so we compromised that if I took him to Chinatown for sushi, he would come with me to Sephora. By this time, if I saw another piece of sushi I knew I would be sick. I wandered around the area of where he was eating. I walked in this little shop named The Amore which sold Amore Pacific's Laneige, Iope and Sulwhasoo lines of facial products. These products are produced in South Korea using indigenous botanical plants such as Red Ginseng and Green Tea. The lovely Jay, one of the owners, wouldn't even sell me the facial cream I so badly needed. Instead, she loaded me up with enough samples to last 7 days. We had a language barrier so I had a hard time telling her I had to leave before then and her telling me that she wanted me to try the products to assure they were best for my skin. She finally convinced me of her sales method and sent me packing with the samples. I started using them immediately and loved the way they quickly moisturized my parch skin. Before I went home I went back to buy a number of their products.

BEAUTE COSMETICS LIQUI-GEL STAINS!

Fri, 01/16/2009 - 2:31pm
  • Goddess Granny
  • Lips

Goddess Granny here! Here we are in a brand spanking New Year and I for one am very excited about it! SO many new things to plot, plan, and share and it really IS like a clean-slate/do-over in many ways...wishing every one of you the most beautiful and happiest year of your life to come!

I always like to start things out with a hot bath, a glass of wine, and a few notes about what I might like to do, where to go, and also how to continue to morph my "middle-aged" look into something that continues to be current and if I'm lucky, even a bit sexy and stylish! I'm even starting a "style file" and intend to fill it with possibilities so as the year progresses,I can focus on how and who I'd REALLY like to become.... Outwardly at least!

We all know I love makeup in all it's glory and it's truly rare that an item really seems "new" to me: I won't say I've tried it all but at thispoint in life, I really sort of have, LOL! So,when I received "Beaute" cosmetics, pronounced "Bow-Tay" named for the creator Beau Nelson, lipstain in "Fever" I thought,"Oh hum...another nice lipcolor but nothing special"

Boy, was I mistaken!

Dead wrong as a matter of fact...these lip products ARE very new and very fabulous!

SALLY HANSEN TWO-STEP RENEWAL SYSTEM FOR HANDS!

Wed, 01/14/2009 - 10:45pm
  • Drugstore Deals
  • Body

Gigi here! Pardon me-our computer crashed last week and I had a "brain freeze" (I'm prone to them). I sent this piece to poor Meg last week using my sister's computer. Now I am sitting here as the gracious guest of the owner of Post Net in Kennedy Township (a mini-version of FedEx/Kinko's necessary for survival) who is allowing me to use a computer.

UNITE SEVEN SECONDS CONDITIONER LEAVE IN DETANGLER!

Wed, 01/14/2009 - 11:57am
  • Hump Day Hair
  • Miscellaneous

Kate here! Winter is usually a time for dryness. Now those of you who don't live in sunny Southern California like me (little dig there...sorry I couldn't resist) may be saying "what on earth is she talking about?" Winter for most places is a time of rain and snow and general wetness, and it even rains occasionally in Southern California! But when I say dryness, of course I am talking about the havoc that winter wreaks on our skin and hair, turning supple soft skin into a flaky, scaly mess and silky, shiny hair into straw. To fix your alligator scales, you will have to ask elsewhere, but I am here to help you restore some moisture into that dried out, winter-ruined hair of yours!

Enter here Unite Seven Seconds Conditioner Leave in Detangler. Unite is a new line that combines the high quality ingredients of Europe with the cutting edge technology of America. I bought this product on a whim from my hairdresser and had never used it, similar to a few other things I have bought. Ok fine a lot of the things I buy, but I digress. I decided to try it for the first time about three months ago and I am officially in love. It is a fine mist that smells incredible that you spray all over wet hair. After I spray it on, I can literally feel within seconds (7 seconds perhaps...hmmmmmmmm...maybe I am onto something) that my hair is softer and more moisturized . It is very light and more moisturizing than probably any product I have ever used. I ran out last week and didn't use it the last time I washed my hair, and I felt a definite and noticeable difference. My hair felt off until I washed it again, this time not making the mistake to be out of this wonderful product again.

RACHEL PERRY LIP BALM!

Tue, 01/13/2009 - 12:25pm
  • Green Chi Tuesdays
  • Lips

Sweetassgal here! I will never cease to be amazed by how our minds can reach way back to memories decades ago, bringing back familiar sights, scents, tastes and even emotions that once comforted us in moments that may have seemed insignificant at the time...but manage to bring a smile to our face at the mere flicker of their memory. Walking through my local health food store recently I was struck by just such a memory. Browsing through the health and beauty section my eye caught the sight of a little round pot of Lip Lovers lip balm by Rachel Perry.

I immediately picked it up and was transported back to one of my favorite places when I was a child. My mother had a friend named Chris who to me was a cross between Farah Fawcett and a circa 1976 Stevie Nicks. She had beautiful feathered blonde haired, dressed uber hippie chic and almost always carried something that was either hand tooled leather or beaded and crocheted. I used to love going to her house. She was always burning incense (not the stinky kind), had cool beaded curtains, "vintage" furniture before it was cool and most importantly of all...she had one of those old fashioned french lady advertisements displayed on a giant round tin plate hanging in her living room. It was all so lovely and the memory was staring right up at me when I looked at the top of the Rachel Perry balm. Pictured on top is a darling profile picture of a very vintage looking lady wearing a smart hat with brightly tied pin and scarf. It looked just like one of the ladies on Chris' wall hanging. I was instantly transported and could all but smell the scent of musk oil in the air.

MEGS RUNDOWN ON THE GOLDEN GLOBES!

Sun, 01/11/2009 - 10:16pm
  • Miscellaneous

Meg here! Ahh, LA! The lights, glamour, parties and celebs! I'm watching the Golden Globes that are taking place a stones throw away from my place and I have one thought....Bring back Bjork and the swan dress back! BORING BLACK EVERYWHERE!

Drew Barrymore has blown me away the hair, the dress-looked like a movie star! JLO, brought out the Gold and if you're going to The Golden Globes Why not!

I remember when everyone was talking about how great it was years ago when Sharon Stone wore a Gap shirt with a skirt. How refreshing! How ballsy! How real...How Ugh. Half a billion veiwers and you pull out the Gap? What? A Gap shirt? O.K. Eva Longoria and Demi just flashed on the screen, they look like movie stars. If you're not going to impress and look the part of the Hollywood Diva then stay home! I can see a Gap shirt at my local mall.

Did anyone see Burn After Reading? I loved it! Commit treason and murder for the quest of getting plastic surgery! Finally, Hollywood creates a movie based on reality!

BEAUTE LIPGLOSS!

Sun, 01/11/2009 - 12:07pm
  • Goddess Granny
  • Lips

Goddess Granny here! Do you remember the very first product that you ever bought on your own?For me it was a Bonnie Bell Lip Smacker colored pale-green that morphed to beige on the lips and I was SO thrilled to have one back then! Since then,I think I've put just about every color, scent, texture, and taste of lip-product on my lips that has ever been created with some satisfaction each time,LOL! I love lip-glip in all it's incarnations!

Lipgloss...it's as routine as brushing one's teeth for all of us I'd be willing to bet: it's the first product my 11yr. old grandaughter snags from my purse when I visit and it's the last thing I put on at night and yes,I do wear lipgloss to bed. The stuff comes in every concievable color and price range and can be had by all...but just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any better?

Beaute Cosmetics Lipgloss pops into my life in "Paramour", a dusty-rose with a hint of gold that countours and adds more shine and plumping-lushness than I have ever gotten from a lipgloss,I kid you not!Left me with one of the prettiest and most glam-wearable lip looks I have worn in a LONG time! Pretty and doable enough for everyday but with that "wow factor" that just reeks of the good life and a personal makeup artist at your disposal...I cam't rave enough about the lip products in this line: Beau and his cosmetics line are destined for greatness, plain and simple!

His philosophy and attention to detail and quality in each of his carefully-crafted products is the stuff of makeup dreams...go to the siteand check out the "how to videos" and read a bit about the man behind the exqusite products: I was impressed and believe you will be as well!

I have always thought I "needed" a lip-pencil to perfect my lipline at "this age" but after watching Beau's video on how to apply his glosses,I am now sporting another "new to me and oh so exciting" look of just gloss withoutany pencil, applied in the unique way he shows on the site!
