REVITABROW AND "WHEN IN ROME" WINNERS! "WHEN IN LA!" WITH CECILIA ALBANO!
Meg here! Well, NYC is sure preparing for the big one! They're canceling flights and closing schools and we're all waiting around like it's going to be Armageddon. I mean, it might just be. As of yet, I haven't seen one snowflake. They say they're on the way so I'll keep you posted.
Jack Frost nipping at my nose are not the nips I prefer. I hate to be cold. It is half the reason I ran from the East Coast to the west. Boston is just too cold for my blood. Remember when I wrote about the awesome contest Revitalash was running? It was to fly a lucky winner and her guest to Los Angeles, walk the red carpet of the "When In Rome" premiere and stay at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel. When I read the contest I was thinking "I hope someone from Scottsdale or Maui doesn't win this!" I mean, come on! It's flipping freezing on the east coast! Apparently Hannah from Revitalash thought the same thing because the winning number was random, but her mojo must have been putting off the Massachusett's energy. The winner Cecilia Albano was from a town a little more then an hour away from Beantown. Or should we say Freezetown? I was so happy that someone won who would be able to appreciate the sunshine! I called Hannah and Eunice over at Revitalash and said that Megsmakeup.com would love to take the winner Cecilia and her friend Jennifer to Beverly Hills to The Ivy for lunch. If you're going to be attending a premiere in the evening that lord knows you need to be lunching at The Ivy. Yes, I just said "lunching" it's what we do there babe!
Don't Cecilia and Jennifer look very Hollywood behind their shades?
Hannah and Eunice are no dummies! They said "count us in!" We had a date! The five of us met at the Ivy and we were seated at the best table on the patio. As I sit here typing this in fear of becoming an icicle I look back at Cecila and Jennifer and our glorious lunch. The birds were chirping, the sun was out, Patti Stanger from Millionaire Matchmaker was at the next table loudly complaining about issues with her show. Ahh, home sweet home. Anyway, Cecilia and Jenifer were just as sweet as my Ivy Gimlet and they promised to let me know how the premiere went.
How cool a company is Revitalash? I mean Hannah and Eunice really do it up! I want to tell you a quick story that could have gone tragic very easily. When I was a model I had a photo shoot for Ferrari. The makeup artist did extremely heavy makeup on me. So heavy that I didn't notice that when she asked to "shape up my left brow" she actually meant pluck it all off! She had it drawn back on so I didn't know until I got home and washed my face AND SCREAMED!
Maybe an evil make up artist did not pluck your entire brow out, maybe you went a bit to heavy handed yourself. When your friend told you that the woman at the nail salon with no eyebrows was probably not the best choice to shape your brows maybe you didn't listen. Thick brows are back and now with Revitabrow you can undo the error of your ways!
All you have to do is apply the wand to your sparse eyebrows everyday. The peptides and secret sauce in there will get back! It's amazing and maybe a fabulous gift for the mom that decided to just shave them off and get them tatted on!
Revitalash is an amazing company that really cares about there clients. A few days after the premier, as promised Cecilia sent me an email. She said "Hi Meg,
I just wanted thank you for lunch at The Ivy! I had a great time.
The premiere was fabulous. Walking the red carpet was an experience I will never forget.
Take care,
Cecelia Albano"
How nice is that?! You can feel good supporting a company that treats its clients like that!

ooo im so jealaous. nuti agree at least somebody got to have some fun in the sun whereas theyd be eskimos besides =)
to be able to enjoy the sun while everyone else is freezing is an awesome prize! :)
Wow! Sounds like such a wonderful prize. I naturally have super super thick eyebrows, and I have always HATED them! I never did anything dramatic to them though, just got them waxed. Everyone that ever did it for me said I had natural shape so they were just going to "clean it up" though.
Let's all enjoy the Summer sunshine!
I have had a bad experience! I was fifteen or so. It was my first facial. I must have had the word 'makeover' tatooed right above my eyebrows because she offered to pluck them with that disdainful mean--cheerleader-in-the-teen-movie sneer. I walked out with pin-thin brows that have never recovered. I complain about it so often my boyfriend likes to edit or delete my Mii's brows when we play Wii.
Luckily I only overplucked my brows for a brief period (luckily my honest aunt told me they were too thin!) when I was young, and they bounced back.
I've mostly left my eyebrows alone since they are so light, but lately I've been doing a little more work - I'll just try not to overpluck!
My eyebrows double as bangs.
that is hilarious! hahah loli like me brews... they got plucked a bit too much last year but they are growing back fine. Now i know not to over pluck as it makes you look older. ;)
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
No eyebrows? Eeks, what a nightmare! I'm growing out my eyebrows so I can reshape them, but it's so hard to leave 'em alone!
Either these old peepers of mine are failing or the Revitalash site has not been updated, but I find no link for the brow product at the Buy It here! link.
I did overpluck my eyebrows when I was younger but luckily got wiser after some time. It was when my friend did a course to become a make up artist and used me as a "model" for one of her exams, the teacher told me that I should let my eyebrows grow a bit. And I did! I can't even imagine how horrified you must've been when you saw your eyebrows were completely gone though! :o
I am one of those people who loves the cold - Winter is so much easier to dress for - You can always put MORE clothes on when it's cold but there's only so many you can take OFF when it's too hot! Teehee. :-D As for brows - I'm a plucker. Only waxed once when I was about 17 doing a quick beauty course...and I don't have them very thin either cos I'm scared they will never grow back. People have told me I have nice brows so that makes me happy :-)

I'm an overplucker, but one of my worst brow stories was from age 13 to 16 when had the single brow, just like the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Thinking of it stills scares the hell out of me!
wow that sounds awful that she plucked all ur eyebrows...im very cautious about overplucking, since i heard so many stories. luckily, i don't have to resort to using products to regrow my eyebrows just yet.
I (thank god) do not have any overly crazy eyebrow problems...its the only place i don't have one...LOLI have always had a scar in my eyebrow so i'm just used to it and it doesn't really bother me too much. I will say that i wax my own brows so if they look horrible i only have myself to blame :0I am so jealous (but gloriously happy that someone from the east coast won). It is absolutely freezing here and we are bracing for a crazy storm--we still have 13 inches or so on the ground from friday so this should really put us over the edge :)Have fun in NYC......
I too am very happy that someone won who would appreciate the nice sunny warm weather, we are certainly in the throes of winter here, and have been now for months!! We've had over 50 inches of snow, and yet again it is snowing, Bring on spring!!I've never been over zealous with my brows, but one thing I am finding that as I get older (jeez I hate saying that) my brows have become finer and lighter, it simply isn't fair!! My hair has darkened to an ugly shade of mouse brown, and now my brows are getting lighter?? Where is the justice? I had always felt unusual when my hair was so light blond and my brows were dark dark, everyone always accused me of dying my hair. So I've never been satisfied!! LOL I do remember working with a young woman when I was in high school who had completely eliminated her brows and drew them in, I thank heavens that she wasn't a big influence on my beauty routine back then!!I may really have to look into this stuff if my brows continue on the path they are right now!

I don't think I would let someone else pluck my eyebrows. My luck I would be the one that was missing.
Once I over did it on my left brow and it took months for them to even out. The right was perfect. I'd rather under do it then over do it.
haha great story! :) i personally like to do my own brows tho! :P
I have thick eyebrows.
i saw this advertised on your site, and i wanted to get it SO badly. back in the day, my cousin slammed a door in my face when we were playing tag around the house. i ended up in the hospital with a few stiches in my left eyebrow. now, no hair grows there. ... yay.

Oh, Patti Stanger... bahaha (now, naturally this doesn't mean I don't watch the show... but I never know quite what to make of it).I literally had to suppress a shudder at that eyebrow story. Omg.
I don't really pluck my eyebrows cause they hurt, I was going to get them waxed but everyone says they look nice the way they are.
I have to agree with TanteJoan, I wanted to check this out because my brows are so sparse and especially the first 1/3rd of them are pretty much invisible! I wanted to see how much it costs but could not find the 'brow' product on the website. How absolutely exciting for those ladies who won! Wow if Patti Stanger from Millionaire Matchmaker was at the next table during lunch I can't imagine you could even hear one another talk! That woman is something else!

I couldn't find it on their website either. I was looking forward to a miracle cure for my sparse brows. I over-plucked them in middle/high school and would love a product that could help me get them back. I googled "Revitabrow" and found it at a few places for ~$100. I don't know if I can risk $100 before I read some reviews, though. Anyone got some spare cash and want to be the guinea pig????
i want this product! i used to over pluck back in middle school - LOL
Oh Meg, how wonderful of you to take the winner out for lunch at such an awesome location!! I'm sure she was pinching herself - first sunshine, then The Ivy!! Wonderful article, so heart-warming. Also, my brows seem to be OK at present but I am definitely recommending Revitalash to a few of my girlfriends. I cringe when I see them doing plucking as it's just so hard to do it properly and not risk all of your beautiful brows in the process!
Aww so jealous of that picture as I'm buried in a blizzard currently! Story- My aunt was training to become a beautician and experimented eyebrow waxing on my mom. Needless to say, disaster. When the wax paper came up my moms entire eyebrows were on it. She had to suffer the ridicule at school and home until her eyebrows grew back. :)
I don't really do my eyebrows that often. Usually I just touch them up every once in a while. I've only gotten them waxed once a while ago and haven't had the time to do it again (although I would reccomend it).
I miss the California weather so much!

Ah that was so nice of you to take the girl's for lunch at the ivy before their red carpet sojurn-volia the whole LA experience.I used to over pluck but thankfully they grew back but my aunt plucked out her entire eyebrows as a teen and they never grew back she draw's them back in every day.
PotionPrincess♥
yay! I hope you had fun in my hometown of LA!
My crazy aunt (we all have one) said to me once "You have full eyebrows - they are ok, like um, Brooke Shields. Yeah, that's who they remind me of. But really, you should get them shaped sometime." I was 10 years old. My mom has never been a makeup person, but she drummed into my head, around about that same time of my youth, that if I was walking out of the house I had better have my brows groomed. So I always have them combed with some gel.& In school, my friends commented on my brows - always with positive remarks - but one I'll never forget said they looked a little like tiny wings on my face. I'm not sure exactly what she had imbibed before making that assessment.
I have had eyebrow troubles in the past... Like when I was eleven I shaved down the middle and took off too much! Then for years I had really wacky eyebrows because I didn't know how to fix them. Finally when I turned 15 I just let them grow to however they wanted (but kept myself turning into a unibrow) and now I love my eyebrows!! <3

I don't have any great eyebrow stories. My only bummer is that I've been told that my stupid hairs have thick roots, thus making it really tough to pull them out. So plucking is quite painful, as is waxing. :( I do however take care of my hubby's eyebrows for him, if I didn't, he would have a unibrow. I always crack up when I'm doing them for him because he complains that it hurts so much, and needs to take breaks so he can deal with the pain. And I don't do any shaping or anything, just clean up the middle section. So what normally would take two minutes, takes 10.

I have ninja brows. They are there, but you can't see them. Oh that was an awful attempt at humor. Forgive me. They're sparse, they're blonde, they're pitiful. I won't bore you by going into it again. >Meg, that is the stuff of my nightmares. That and I'll be curling my eyelashes, get startled and yank all of my lashes out. I did get my brows waxed into a pencil thin unnaturally shaped line once. Not fun. >How sweet of you to take them out and give them the real LA experience! Ladies who lunch and dodge the paparazzi. >I must admit to being slightly fascinated by Patti Stanger and the Millionaire Matchmaker show. It's like a loud, obnoxious train wreck - horrible but I can't look away.
wow I wish we could afford to spring for a product like that. I was an over-plucker for too long i guess cause they never fully recovered. I have gaps here and there and overall they are too short.I don't think I'll find room in the budget for that tho. i rely on and SWEAR by Maybelliene's brow enhancer. it's a powder that comes with a stiff little brush. Lasts all day and is much more natural looking. So cool you took them to lunch tho, soooo sweet!

I used to overpluck the inner corners of my brows a lot when I was younger, it made them look so far apart and (little did I know) absolutely horrible! I also overplucked the outside of the tail - I dont know how to explain it, it's like the space between your brow and hairline at the outer corner of your eye - and it never grew back D:
Loved the brow story! And Patti! I love Millionaire Matchmaker. That woman is genius. She can read people better than a psychic. The people at RevitaLast/Brow sound great. I definately don't need any help in that department though. Mine used to be sparse and I just stopped plucking them for about 3 months, completely. They looked terrible during that time but when they finally grew in and I shaped them, wow! Much better!

My eye brows turned white and I look like I have no eye brows LOL. I feel like an alien. I use Anastasias strawburn eye brow powder, a slanted brush (bare minerals eye brow brush) and eye brow wax from smashbox, I use a lash and brow comb too. I would like to have nice eye brows. Sigh.
Oh I remember my over plucked eyebrow phase! Wish someone had pointed out how silly I looked!
I have big man brows, a side effect of my hormone imbalance. But, I have to say it's one of the good side effects. I have dark thick eyebrows, and while it takes a bit of care, I really like them.
... sanity is relative, insanity is quantum mechanics ...
Loool my eyebrows are so tiny and light i don't see my eyebrows ... :(
Diamond are Girl Best Friend !!!
Oh gosh, plucking the entire eyebrow? That's really extreme. I am glad that I don't have a too horrifying eyebrow story (it would take me years to recover for that). I did end up with over-plucked eyebrows once and diligently drew my eyebrows for that period. I have so far not found anything that works on my brows. I will have to check out Revitabrow.
Congrats, all :)
I like my eyebrows now that I get them threaded they have a more natural look to them and have a nice arch FINALLY after years of tweezing and then waxing!! But the lady i go to is awesome so she is really talented.
oh man iam so jealous!! That sounds like such fun!
I agree that threading is the way to go! After two years, I really find that I have to get threaded every four or five weeks.
