Meg here! I've been thinking (always a dangerous thing.) Why does Vogue or InStyle or the major media publications act like the only beautiful woman live in New York City, Miami or Los Angeles? It's wrong. It's elitist and most importantly it's completely ignorant to the fact that our writers ARE BEAUTIFUL and live in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Boston and Texas. Our stunning Meg Heads are in Des Moines, Nashville, Atlanta and Kansas City. Why do magazines make you feel like you don't matter?
When you're cut you bleed red! Your money is green! You work hard to find out what is the best in your city! You deserve some ink and some press. Gosh darn it, if I hear about one more "must have" in L.A.or N.Y.C. I'm going to slash my wrists. Two cities does not make up the beautiful in America-your city that never gets any notice does! We need to hear about YOUR hairstylist, YOUR mani-pedi place YOUR FAVORITE BEAUTY SPOT!
This is a beauty wake-up call to the entire magazine industry! We at Megsmakeup.com LOVE OUR MEG HEADS! You deserve a voice! A feature, a video and an opinion that represents your much forgotten great city. We know and love and laugh with you on the site but now we want to do so in person. We are not snobs! We want to showcase your picks and thoughts for the entire world to see because NO ONE ELSE IS GIVING YOU CREDIT FOR YOUR FINDS! That's wrong! United we stand! This country extends between the coasts and we need to bring the beauty to the forefront! WE ARE VISITING YOU IN PERSON!!
Mariana and Meg are renting a car right after Fashion Week. We are heading to Boston, MA to visit Babylove we are then driving to Jeanasina in Minnesota. It's a 23 hour drive and we're passing a lot of states that you all live in and you have to tell us why to stop and film and meet up with you!
We are then hitting the road to Goddess Granny to find out what works in Texas. Yes, we are driving 22 MORE hours. We're going through a ton of cities that need your representation. We need to stop and video and report on what is going on in your neck of the woods! BECAUSE WE DO CARE! WE WANT TO MEET YOU! WE WANT TO SPREAD THE BEAUTY OF AMERICA!!
Once we leave Texas we are driving to Sharond in Colorado Springs, Colorado! We are going to be adding another 14 More hours! We're driving all across this amazing land of ours and every one of you has to be your city ambassador!
From Colorado we are entering my home state of California where we will be stopping in to see Stylemama and Sweetassgal!
All the way we want to stop and see you!!! It's the beauty road trip that will be documented and video'd and will give "fly-over states" a reason to have people stop flying over them! Think your hairdresser is better then the best in NYC? Well then tell us and give them exposure! Stop giving magazines a reason to ignore you! Help us send the message that all states and cities have their own beauty and are amazing even if you're not in Beverly Hills. Stand up be noticed! Help us help you get the word out! We love you, we are excited-we are terrified of the weather in Minnesota-Brrrr
So talk to us, are we out of our minds or do you love it? Where do you live? Can we buy you drinks and get you to share your beauty secrets? This is a beauty revolution and you need to be a part of it!
We love you and we put our money where our mouth is! we're coming to see you and laugh with you and hopefully, drink wine with you! What other beauty site wants to know their members better then family. Please, let's make this HUGE together!!

Oh my god, I'm so jealous that you are going on a road trip! That sounds like so much fun! Maybe you should hit Vegas and see what kind of makeup trends the showgirls and dancers are using nowdays. We know they hafta look good onstage, so they must have some secrets!

I love, love, love this idea! (Am I making a point here?) Meg the Magnanimous is so down-to-earth that she comes to us and it's humbling. I dare you to try to find another site in the Web that does this! I've had some post-surgery trauma and hope I show up on the route, but I have never known anyone as gracious or kind as Meg is to acknowledge the reviewers and the readers (readers: She sincerely loves you--trust me, I've written for people who think their readers are morons and left out of disgust!). I haven't met her in person yet, but on the phone she is a truly good, sweet, hysterical, gorgeous woman! I love her spontaneity, joie de vivre, and ideas. When I think of Meg, I think of Paul Martel's (Olivier Martinez's) phrase from the flick "Unfaithful" that says: "It is the season for wine, roses, and drunken friends. Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life." She gets it. Perhaps I may be captured on film in one of those disgusting one-size-fits-none hospital robe, but I am thrilled to meet you. The last year and a half has been hell for me. Not only did I lose my precious mother, but I have been on an unpaid leave of absence from a job I live for two years. What kept me sane? Prayer and Meg's and the reviewers and readers. You are more dear to me thank you realize--you make me want to try to work hard for Meg and you. Okay, before I start crying I'll stop. I'm just stunned that a woman in her position would take such time to really know the women she hired--Meg, you are an angel! I love you! God Bless, Gigi

Gigi, you're a Gorgeous women inside and out, I know this past 1+ yrs have been tough but I want you to know not only have you made a huge contribution to Megs Make Up, you're a light for all. I feel truly blessed to call you my friend. I love your articles. I have only known some of the physical pain you go thru yet you still find praise. You're a true inspiration. What a wonderful idea, and what a good post! If you ever decide to go on a roadtrip through Europe, then I can tell you that you definitely should take time to find a good place in the middle of the countryside, to just be for a few days with good food, good beds, a sunny garden table and nature all around. I think that is something that seldom is had in the big cities, utter nothing to do except enjoying the day. :)
I want to come to your country, Agnes O Nutter and hang out and just BE. That makes a person truly beautiful. To be in nature, at peace, no stress, sounds like a piece of heaven!!!

:O.. i can't believe i'm reading this! i envy everyone who lives in the US right now!!! Meg, we all knew that you cared about us dearly but this is really something... make up points is one thing.. but renting out a car and taking 20+hr drives around the country just to MEET US megheads is amazing.. unforuntately i'm from across regions and oceans but just knowing what you would do to make us feel even more special (than you have already made us feel) and as a part of the meghead family is equivalent for me (like my mum's proverbs, when you can't be there, it's the thoughts that count) you are truly my idol with a heart of gold.

What a great idea! Just give yourself time... road trips are fun, but they can wear yo' ass out! It doesn't look like there's a way to fit Memphis in to your route, but since I'm still looking for the best hairstyle, mani-pedi, etc... I guess it'll be ok. Can't wait to see the other megheads on video!

Any plans to be by Virginia Beach? I really only have one local beauty spot, and it's pretty new to me, still. I recently had to get a new hair stylist because mine retired from the biz to go to grad school. She did not leave me high & dry, though; she recommended a stylist for me. I've been to her once, but she is amazing!!! Wait! There is another place: even though I've only been there a couple of times (eyebrow wax and massage), I know of a fabulous spa! Have a great time on your trip!! Sounds like so much fun!

Does Orange County get lumped in with Los Angeles? I am 45 minutes from LA, but it is a different world here.
I love this idea! How cool! I got all excited but then I realized that I really don't have any good suggestions for beauty stuff here. I live just outside of Seattle in Bellevue, and Bellevue is all about trying to be ridiculously upscale so everything is way overpriced and mediocre at times. I still am on the quest for a really solid good hairstylist here, and I haven't felt like fighting the traffic or lack of parking in Seattle. I did, however, have an awesome hairstylist when I lived in Utah but I don't know if he's still around. He was a rockabilly dude with tons of tattoos and he and his wife did pinup/rockabilly photo shoots with clients and models. He was in the National Guard though, and I lost touch when he was deployed to Iraq. He did amazing work though and no one has done as well with my cut or color since then!

I'm only a few hours from Minneapolis however, and my sis lives there too, so...perhaps there is a road trip in my future heading to Minnesota....I'm used to the weather!! (doggone tundra!)
