IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR-CAPRICE CRANE!
Meg here! I just wanted to remind you all that our first ever Megsmakeup.com bookclub Family Affair is coming up on Valentine's Day.
The book Family Affair will lead to many questions on "How did he not get what I was saying?" To the funnier parts where we don't care what he was saying but we hear what she (Layla) was meaning.
I soaked up the sun and this book in record time. It was such a fun read and really let me get lost in these familiar characters.
This book is our tone and you'll love it and the characters in it. I sipped my daiquiri by the pool and read every word like I was the friend giving advice.
In a world of facebook, tmz and cnn.com we always have information at our fingertips. When was the last time you got comfy with a real live book?
Get comfy with It's A Family Affair! Delve in and I dare you to put it down! The character's are in our day to day and more then a bit familiar!
I love this book! I love hysterical females that make my tummy hurt with their brilliance (follow Caprice Crane on Twitter-you will not be sorry!)
So here is your homework! Buy FAMILY AFFAIR so you can join on in on the discussion on Feb 14th. If you have a hot date then you'll look that much hotter not putting out so quickly! Literate is the new SEX!
Who is in? We need to support brilliant writer's that bring the best tales to chase!
Who needs a real live book escape? This book is just fabulous! Step away from the computer! I dare you not to love Layla or Trish! Ginny made me cry!

I'm in!
Sounds like a good book, but also doesn't sound like something I'd read.
... sanity is relative, insanity is quantum mechanics ...
Hrm, a romantic comedy? I'm not sure I'll dig this, it's definitely not something I generally put into my reading pile.. I'll take a look at it, I just got my latest Audible credits so if they have it, I may just pick it up. Thanks Meg! : ] <3
Darn it, they don't have it on audible.com - pity, as I was willing to download it and listen to it just so I'm able to contribute to the discussions! I recommend looking at audiobooks so you can "read" whilst doing chores, commuting, walking / driving - you name it! You just need your ears and an iPod and you're set to read! : ]
what are audible credits?
i've stopped reading novels since uni started, from then i've been swamped with psych papers and reading 10 boring 1000-3000pg textbook with teeny writing every year. i started reading a novel at the start of my break and just couldn't read any further than 2pgs. I think i've found myself in none fiction and biographies..

Meg, I have heard that everyone needs equal parts of Spirituality, Fun, Work and Love to have a balanced life. I am so very very proud of you Meg for doing Good for yourself. My father in law has been critically ill since Dec 31,09, I have been at the hosp. everyday for 27 days, between that and going back to work, I don't think I can do the book right now. This is my busy season. However, I furlough usually July 1st, if you have another book club then I will be more then happy to join in.
I just had to say I'm so sorry to hear about your father in law... it sounds like such a difficult time for you. I hope that soon you will have an opportunity to do something nurturing for yourself, but it sounds like you have a wonderful outlook on life. I will think good thoughts for you and your father-in-law!
great, im in! I love a good book!

This is such a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful idea Meg! I love you for it! I was such a reader, but my attention span just isn't what it used to be. This will be great motivation to actually finish something that I start. I tried to start a book club amongst my friends, but no one wants to read anymore. I am going to go look for it online later today. P.S. Anyone else in awe of Meg's toned arms and shoulders in that pic above? Please tell me you had to work really hard for those! I can't even lift my arms most of the time cause I work them out so much, and they look NOTHING like that.
a book club? keep this going. i wont have time to join in this time with each of my grad courses thinking that's all i do all day but i should have a chance this summer to get on with you girls!

I can't wait. I love to read just don't get much time to do it. I will make the time for this.
I'm in. I love to read and the last book club I was in kind of fell apart. Thanks Meg for the great idea. You are a woman of many thoughts and ideas!
I am so glad you recommended this book. I spent Saturday reading it front to back...and it was so interesting. I love how real this book is. It's not a fairy tale. It's real life. By the way, Ginny made me cry too! I have to agree with Meg...everyone needs to read this book.

I would love to join in but I don't have the time right now with the kids and painting the house and all. Hope you all that do get to read it enjoy it.
I am an avid reader always looking for a recommendation on a good read. I will add this to my list. ANd if you haven't read The Help yet, RUN. Get that book now.

Book club sounds fun, but I don't think I will be joining for this book. I am not purchasing any new books till I finish my current stash. If I find this in the library, then I'm in.Hope you all have a fun discussion.
What a fabulous idea, I have always been an avid voracious reader. I mean sit up all night and read kinda reader!! Pay for it the next day, and still do it again the next night! My book club just kinda folded, and how I've missed it, in fact found a new one, and our first meeting is Thursday!! I'm so excited!!I hope I can get this book and join in on the fun!! Great idea!
this sounds like a great idea! i will try my best to read with the best of ya....now i just gotta get the book!
That sounds fun! I follow her on Caprice on Twitter and she is fantastic!
thanks so much! i'm almost done reading nineteen minutes by jodi picoult.. soo amazing! i'll be sure to request this.
Thanks for the reminder, Ill order it right now. I haven't done a book club since I was married, and that was almost 20 years ago, and the other Navy Officer's wives in my club were pretty lame in their book choices. I'm sure this one will be much more exciting. BTW, really cute photo, love the suit! I suddenly feel inspired to skip my morning frappaccino and head to the gym.
I wonder if it's available on ebook? I just got a nook and LOOOVE it. I'm a big fan of reading books and will totally add this book to my e-wish list. thanks for the recommendation!
I'd love to be in, waiting for it via Paperbackswap.com however i doubt it'll be my turn to receive by the 14th.
Oooh as I said before I'd love to read this. I will check out Chapters some time this week and see if I can buy it :) cant wait to get my grubby hands on this looks like a good read!!

Meg, you are a vision in that chair. Sounds like fun, I'm in....
I'm in! I've always got a couple of books going. Reading is my passion, or at least one of them. I'd never heard of Caprice until your previous posting about her and the book. I'm looking forward to this!
Carole
Oooh I love reading, and you look great in the picture!
Too many books on my reading list this month as it is, but I'll be sure to try to participate once the reading load lightens somewhat. :)
Not quite my thing either if it is romantic comedy. Hmm....my tastes veer towards the uber-geek....fantasy and sci-fi. Oh dear!

Pretty much, I agree. I am in need of a good book. I haven't read a book in forever, besides textbooks. I used to read all the time! I don't think I would typically pick this book up off the shelf either, but I guess it's a new year so I can give a new type of book a try!
Let's all enjoy the Summer sunshine!
I love so much reading particulary in summer on the beach !!! Really cool and relaxant !!!
Diamond are Girl Best Friend !!!
I'm going by Borders today to see if it's in stock and if so I'll pick it up and be ready to go for a Vday book club review hopefully early in the day. Mr. Sweetassguy will be coming back from Texas that day and I'll be ready for a good ole' Vday celebration...especially because Monday is a Holiday! Bring back reading....YES!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Just finished Song of Solomon and onto Moby Dick... I read classics more often
I've been looking for a book to read for a while. The last ones I read were the twilight series. And that burned me out for a while. That was like a year ago! haha but thats what I do. I read and read and read. The I wont read for like 6 months to a year. Then Ill find a good book and need more and more and more good books. Then Ill get burned out again.Thinking of this one... though I wont buy it, mabey find it at a library
Tan is Love
I ordered this book right after your last post about Caprice Crane, because I just love the cover picture. My dog sleeps right in the middle of my husband and me in bed, with her head by our feet, just like the dog on the cover. I haven't opened the book yet, because I'm not much of a reader, but it's waiting for me. If Caprice's hilarious tweets are any indication, this will be a great book. I'll probably crack the book open this weekend and get started, because I can't wait to participate in the bookclub. My mom will be so proud!
I love to read but I'm "studying" so I'll have to give this book club a pass and pick up with the next one. Have fun ladies!
this sounds like a good book, I love reading i'll look out for her book, thanks!
I need a fun and lighthearted book! The sixth graders that I work with are reading "Milkweed" by Jerry Spinelli. "Milkweed" is the story of a young Gypsy thief and his Jewish friends during the Holocaust. It's a fantastic book, but very depressing.
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
This sounds like a great book, and I wish I could join in on the fun. However, the final semester of college has started for me and I just don't have the time. Hopefully, there will be another Meg's Makeup book club reading that I'll be able to join...
I want to get hold of a copy of this immediately after reading your review!!! Nice!
I wish I could join in, but it's hard to continue reading for fun when you have to read 50-100pages of readings per class. Maybe in the summer though
Sounds fun!! Will pick up a copy so i can join in too. :) x
I dont like reading books,.....
im in! i might pick it up this weekend
I will have to check out the library. I don't read enough since my second daughter was born, but today I sat in the sun in my garden and picked up a novel... for about 5 minutes before my 2 year old brought me Thomas the Tank Engine to read her, lol!
