ZAKIA'S MOROCCO 100% PURE ORGANIC ARGAN OIL!

zakia's argan oilSweetassgal here remembering something a girl NEVER forgets... her first movie with a nude scene! Don't worry... it was NOTHING compared to today's standards but in the summer of 1981 when my family went to see a good ole' David versus Goliath flick otherwise known as "Clash of the Titans"... my closest boy cousin and I were exposed to the sight of a naked Andromeda's backside as she exited her bath surrounded by her handmaidens and draped in very sheer Grecian gauze. Completely SHOCKED I announced to my mother (who quickly covered my eyes and my Aunt covered my cousins') and to the ENTIRE audience of the Broadway Twin Theater that "MOMMIE I can see her BUTT!" Needless to say we didn't show our faces in that movie house for quite some time after that. In fact, I'm pretty sure my mom didn't brave the cinema with me for some time unless the flick was preceded by... "Walt Disney Presents". Hence my lifelong obsession with big ears. But that's a subject for another day.

So where am I going with this for Green Chi Tuesdays you may ask?  Well, the lovely Andromeda's bare bum aside, I've ALWAYS been fascinated by anything exotic and foreign. Greek tragedy and drama aside (and WHO doesn't LOVE anything romantic and tragic!) I can never resist a treasure from a foreign land. I have high standards when it comes to the things I take into my heart and therefore I can only give away so much for fear that the Krakon will demand the sacrifice of my earthly body to appease his hunger lest my homeland be ravaged by his unearthly thirst for destruction. Just kidding... nothing that exciting ever happens in my home town... but Clash of the Titans WAS held over three whole weeks and until E.T. came the following summer I had nothing else to play with my cousins and honestly I was getting pretty sick of wearing my brown cinnamon roll inspired wig and exclaiming the words "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!"

So what foreign treasure has captured my heart along with my love of early 80's pop culture science fiction which I have so obviously forced the readers of Megsmakeup to relive? It's Zakia's Morocco 100% Pure Argan Oil. Even Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of beauty herself would covet this deliciously gorgeous oil from her mysterious geographic neighbor to the south. Argan Oil, a precious commodity made from the fruit of the Argan tree, is known the world over for it's restorative and moisturizing properties for both skin and hair.

"At Zakia's Morocco, we use only the very finest ingredients.  All of our oils are 100% pure and organic.  We never doctor nor cut our oils with any inferior base oils. We work closely with our suppliers who work directly with the women's cooperatives in the Agadir region."

They call it pure heaven for your skin and I couldn't agree any more.  Right off the bat I noticed this oil is different.  It's not heavy, thick or greasy at all.  In fact, take everything you think you know about "oil" and throw it out the window because Zakia's Argan Oil isn't oil... it's truly nectar of the Gods and I will be using my bottle down to the very last drop. I've been using it morning and night after washing with my L'Uvalla Milk Cleanser and my skin just eats up every last little bit! I basically run my fingertip over the top of the bottle and then gently press the oil over my face, neck and chest. I'm always careful to use my ring finger to tap the oil around my eyes and not tug on the delicate skin. I LOVE that I can use this ALL over. I don't need a separate eye cream, a lighter face cream and a heavier neck/chest cream. One bottle does it all! And that's just the face...

Argan Oil for the hair?  What's that you say?  Yes girlies, this oil is INCREDIBLE in your hair. Use it as a direct treatment on dry split ends or run a little bit through damp hair for SUPER shine and flyaway free hair! Your follicles will lap it up and there is no oily residue left behind.  For straighties this works great to give your hair that Demi Moore pin straight high power shine! It's just gorgeous and SO SO good for your hair too.

But WAIT! There's MORE! Ratty cuticles and nasty hang nails your "probleme de jour"?  A light swipe of oil around your nails and within a day or two you've got beautifully soft cuticles and nail beds. Is there anything this oil can't do?  According to Zakia's... "Argan Oil has been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, strengthen elasticity, protect against stretch marks, and improve your skin’s overall health and vitality." Guess not!

Our very own Jeanasina was SO in love with her Argan Oil she practically begged to have anyone who didn't just love it send her their bottle. I reiterate her sentiments because I wouldn't mind having a second bottle to stash at my bedside too. 100% natural, 100% organic and 100% freakin' INCREDIBLE means win, win, win for me! I'd love to hear from someone who has more oil prone skin to see how this works for them. I'd have to imagine that with an oil as light and breathable as this that it would fare well for just about anyone but I can only attest to my own personal results for face, eyes, neck, chest, hair and nails. WOW... super product indeed. Andromeda would have her very own handmaiden at the ready with Zakia's Organic Argan Oil to keep her beautiful from head to toe. I'm no Andromeda but my bottle is definitely helping THIS earth goddess stay FAB! GLAM ON!

We are definitely amazed with Zakia's Organic Argan Oil here at megsmakeup.com!
Have you ladies ever tried Argan Oil?

This is THE best product I've ever used for my face. Period.  It truly is a nectar of the Gods and will forever remain in my beauty routine.  Fine lines under my eyes and around my mouth are gone, the ruddiness in my cheeks and chin are gone, the overall texture of my skin has become smoother and brighter--and this is only since Meg sent me a bottle (2 weeks?!) I just use 2-3 drops in my day and night creme and it's truly a miracle worker.  My skin hasn't looked this good since my pre-KP days and I was 2 years old!

Everyone is going crazy about argan oil lately!  I'm tempted to buy some and see what all the fuss is about, but I'm afraid.  I have combo skin, but my face can get pretty oily in the middle of the day.  Sometimes if I just switch to a moisturizer that's not oil free, my face slides off around noon.  I've been interested in trying argan oil, but I'm scared that it will go to waste if I make a purchase.  As Sweetassgal said, if anyone with oily skin has tried this, please let us know what the outcome was.

This is like no other Argan Oil I've ever used! You nailed it SAG-it really is the nector of the God's! You know it's something special when the writers start talking about it amongst ourselves prior to the actual post. I love how it is THE universal treatment. I've used it head to toe and also on every member of my family.(And, there is still tons left!) My 7 year old gets THE driest hands and they were cured by morning. It also does a great job of preparing hands & nails for your manicure. The polish went on sooo smooth! You really do see quick results with this product. When I press a small amount into my entire face it highlights it beautifully sans make up. Plus I think I'm starting to see a smoothing affect to my skin tone and fine lines. It is also helping to manage the dermatitis that I get around my mouth and chin. It has a very natural scent. I like the way it smells but don't expect a perfume like scent. It kind of reminds me of olive oil-yummy. (I think Goddess Granny said the same thing in one of our pre-post emails.). I can't imagine ever being without this. I bet we are all going to be surprised by the effects of long term use. Really great post, loved the image of a young SAG staring at that naked bootie!!

I've never tried argan oil.  I'm really leary about using oils on my face.  About a year and a half ago I tried out the oil cleansing method.  Either I wasn't doing it right or it's just not the right thing for my skin.  I got really bad cystic acne on my cheeks that left really bad scars so you can see why I don't really want to use oils.  But hey, if it works for you, then go for it!btw, I think my first "naked" movie was at my husband's house when we were first dating.  It was Interview With A Vampire and neither of us had ever seen it.  We're watching it with his dad and I thought I was going to die when they rip all the clothes off of that poor girl and she's standing there all "nekkid".

i love argan oil too! I use Melvita Argan oil for my face. I had a huge red pimple on my cheek for over 3 weeks before i was desperate enough to try oil on my super oily face. Wow, why did i wait so long?! In the morning the bump was gone completely. I still had a red mark but it is fading much quicker now that i am using argan oil as my night treatment. I would suggest massaging the oil in your face. I do have combination skin that looks oily no matter what cream i put on it. But when i massage argan oil in, i dont have any shine or residue. I love this miracle product- if you have acne, please try it on your face, dont wait as long as i did!

I love Argan oil in my hair! I first tried Moroccanoil, and loved that, but it's too expensive for me. The second thing I bought was Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal which has basically the same ingredients as Morrocanoil, just much cheaper (I found mine on Ebay), I then bought One 'n Only Hair oil from Sally Beauty which is a dupe to Morrocanoil. I think my fave of the three is the Healthy Sexy Hair because #1 the packaging: it's a teal bottle, and I love teal blue, #2, it smells really good! #3, it works just as well if not better than Morrocanoil. I haven't tried 100% Argan oil, and probably won't unless I can find it very cheap somewhere, I just don't have the funds to spend $60 on such a tiny bottle. And I just have to share this: Just these past two weeks, I've been using organic virgin coconut oil on my face to try to get rid of acne once and for all. And I can honestly say, that I think I will be acne-free in about another week or two! I've had only one new zit and everything else is completely trying up. And my face feels like I have been exfoliating it like crazy, but I've just been using the CO. I think I read somewhere that it has some sort of natural acids in it, that help clear away dead skin.

I have been using Rosehip oil (a proven treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, dry and oily skin alike) for years now!  I use a drop on each section of my t-zone and massage it into the skin after cleansing.  Honestly my skin has never been more healthy and alive, and plumped out by the lovely oil.  I have oily skin at the best of times, and this always sinks in leaving no residue and actually making my skin less oily - can you believe it?!  I will look out for Argan oil when I run out of my mega-huge bottle of RHO.  ; ]  Thanks Sweetassgal, great review!  :D

I have heard so many good things about this stuff. I would like to try it. I am starting to really think about the things I am putting on my face, body and hair within the last couple months and I have switched to a gentle cleanser and moisturizer for my face which is Cetaphil, I use Dove bodywash at the moment for my body and am in the process of trying to find a fairly cheap gentle shampoo. I use coconut oil on my face and body at night and on my hair. I also just tried olive oil on my hair tonight so we will see how that does. This sounds like something that I would like to give a try. Thanks for a wonderful review.

SweetAssGal...you bring me total visuals every single time you write! SOOOOOOOO good! SAG is also telling you the truth...I totally put the word out after I got the Argon Oil to the girls that if ANY of them didn't like it would they PLEASE – send it to ME – I was ready to send postage to them! I have never asked them that before! That's how good this oil is! This oil is like sort of a genie in a bottle! The mystique behind the idea of a breathtaking woman from Morocco using this on her skin – her secret for staying so beautiful at any age is embedded in your head, at least that's what I visualize every time I apply this oil! From the day I opened the bottle I have been using it on my face and neck and chest...working my to to my nails and cuticles. I loooooooooove how this oil goes on and how it feels as I massage it into my face. I love the glow I feel after putting it on! I love how it sinks into my skin. I REALLY love when I wake up in the morning and I look into the mirror and smile!” It could be wishful thinking or it COULD be that this particular Argon Oil is really quite remarkable and is doing delightful things to my skin!  I gotta try it on my hair too!

I like this oil mixed with lemon for my nails.  The smell certainly isn't wonderful, but it is natural and earthy.  What I think is funny is the goats eat the fleshy Argan olive like nut, then digest the soft parts and "poop" out the kernals which people collect to get the oil.  It takes about 20 hours to make one liter.  The oil works very similar to sweet almond oil which I find to heavy for my dry facial skin.  I like it better on my feet, elbows and other rough areas and of course it is wonderful for your hair.  I plan to mix a little with a light moisturizer and then try it on my face.  People in the Morocco region of Africa use the oil for cooking.  Since this is natural I would assume you could use it mixed into couscous right before serving to give it an earthy nutty flavor.  We eat a lot of couscous so I plan to give it a try.  Argan production is still basically a cottage industry, managed largely by women. But many people believe that if the oil became better known it could provide more employment in the region as well as enhancing the environment.  This is a wonderful product and think of all the good you are doing by using it.

sharond,I read an expose opn the Moroccan women and "the goats eat the fleshy Argan olive like nut, then digest the soft parts and "poop" out the kernals which people collect to get the oil." is actually a fallacy.  They use a press to extract the oil.. goats, while they like the Argan too, aren't involved in the extraction process at all.

I have been coveting a bottle of this for some months now. I use olive oil all the time, but I love that you can use this one on your face. How expensive is it? I want something to put on my face in the morning that soaks in really fast so I don't have to wait to put on my mineral makeup. Does anyone have a similar routine and know how long it takes to absorb?

This soaks in almost instantaneously.  I can start my powder within just a minute of application.  It's SO light it just absorbs right in and gives you a soft and lovely glow!  NO oily residue!

Love, hugs and shoes...Angie

i have tried a little sample bottle of argon oil from sally beauty but it contained silicone etc.  It worked pretty well. I would LOVE to try the pure oil, sounds amazing!

I've never tried Argan Oil, but I do keep a bottle of Safflower oil on my vanity dresser. It is a miracle worker for all that you mentions at nearly no cost, though it still feels like an oil, a bit greasy for a few minutes but it is a very light feeling still in comparison to some. Though, an oil that does not feel greasy...I'll have to see where I can get a bottle, especially for my hair. :)

I've just discovered Argon oil, & LOVE it!!!  I use Josie Maran brand, which is all organic & pure - from Sephora.  I don't notice much of a scent at all - just incredibly light oil that is NOT greasy.  It's amazing stuff - I use as a moisturizer, night cream, on my nails & hands, the stick form is great for a lip balm.  Get yourselves some!!

I agree 100%, I love this oil!  I use it in the evening after I've washed my face, it only takes a small amount, In the morning my face is as smooth as a newborns bum, LOL...seriously, my face is incrediblysmooth and soft...My finger nails are reborn, my hand nails have disappeared and my finger nails are growing like crazy! I LOVE THIS STUFF!!I got Zakia's morrocan Argan Oil from Meg when I cashed in my 250 points, I'd never heard of this oil before then.  I have not used it on my hair yet...but thats next on my list
