JASMINE SIMONE'S GOALS FOR 2010! WHAT ARE YOURS?
Jasmine Simone here! Happy New Year everyone! Sending blessings and positives vibes to you and your loved ones. I hope that 2010 brings joy and enlightenment in all the areas you wish. This year has already been strong in spiritual change for me and others close to me this year. So I'm sharing my New Year's resolutions with you; maybe if I put them out there in this strong ethos of energy, they will come true?? At least they will be glaring back at me in B&W so I have no excuse for ignoring them
!
Jasmine Simone's New Year's Resolutions 2010 (in no particular order)
Family ties - I love my family. And it's a big one! I have family spread across the country separated almost like high school cliques (sans the purposeful alienation of the popular clique): Dad's side covers New York to Virginia; Mom's side in Texas; second cousins in Chicago, Indiana, LA...you get the picture. Having so many places around to lay my head was such a joy growing up but keeping in touch was just an afterthought. I was guaranteed to see everyone at least once a year during school vacations anyway so I figured-Well, I'm just a teenager. All the adults have my number - they'll call when they can. However, now I'm 25 and I've found that more and more often I am thinking of them. How is everyone?; I should call (insert family member here) and ask them for advice on how to deal with xxx; My little cousins (XXXX) are growing up so fast! I wonder what's going on with them and the rest of the fam? Not to mention, that because I'm older people have stopped checking up on me as much. I guess as you get older the need for family to keep tabs on you dissipates and they expect you to pull your weight in keeping the line open. I can't blame them....I do know better. And I resolve to do better this year.
Sharing is Caring! - Educate my friends and family - This one I have already started working on. My induction into Megsmakeup.com was a great step towards fulfilling this goal. I want to make sure I am sharing knowledge I consider positive and helpful to all those around me that care to hear. That is the only way anyone can bring about significant change. Arm the people with knowledge and we can work together to bring about change. Simple as that.
Exercise for the soul: Establish emotional outlets - This means I have started a journal (after 13 years of hiatus), am seeking a spiritual group, will join a yoga class and maybe even a burlesque class ! That combined with strengthening family ties will all work together to get my soul in peak physical condition.
Learn to make healthy meals that taste fattening! - Have you ever had a vegan chocolate cake that tasted like it came from Serendipity's? Surprisingly enough they exist and I recently had one! It was moist, rich, chocolatey goodness and I don't even really like chocolate cake! The fact that they were able to do that with no dairy astounded me but even more so was the rest of the raw, vegan fare. Pizza, butternut ravioli, pulled pork sandwiches (non-meat of course) and cheesecake. Deeeelish! And if they could make raw food so delectably rich and flavorful then I have to learn these secrets for myself. I was really disciplined last year in moderating my eating habits and cutting out a lot of the food that was no good to my body (i.e. wheat, soy dairy, refined sugar, etc.) and this type of fare is the perfect solution to keep both my body and my taste buds happy. Wish me luck!
Revive the arts - Since I've moved to LA, I have really slacked on my support of the arts. I used to attend every museum / gallery exhibit, battle of the bands, poetry reading, and concert I could when I lived in New York. Yet in LA my interest has really fallen to the wayside. I mean I was here for a year before I made it to the Getty museum! And even though the social focus on the arts seems to me to be weaker than in NYC it still has a healthy existence. And some of the arts here are very unique to LA as I've been finding. So this year I am going to force myself to really get out there in the art world, support my fellow young aspiring artists and give myself a new, positive outlook on the grassroots community around me. Another way to nurture the soul.
Communication is key - This is pretty self-explanatory. I just want to be better about expressing myself to everyone around me. This means making sure my communications are clear and concise and keep track so that my responses happen in a more timely manner.
Give back to the community - I am using 2010 as motivation to get my butt into gear and give back to the community. There are many wonderful social programs out here and I've already found a few that I am passionate about and really inspire me. Once you find that, the rest is a piece of cake. And it will feel good to give of myself and the new cake I'm going to learn to whip up!
Social networking arenas are NOT the Devil's playground - Though MySpace, FaceBook, twitter, etc. are in my opinion are susceptible to being tools of the government. I promised I would never open myself up to such public display allowing me to be easily tracked and or hacked. However, this year I vow to get over my fear of Big Brother and put myself out there in these public arenas so that I can keep in better contact with my friends and family. It just took me a while to figure out how to play the game and make it comfortable for me but now that I have there's no stopping me!
Life motto: Everything in Moderation - This is my key to success. I feel that when I live my life in moderation I am the most happy. A glass of wine, a decadent desert, or a delectable pork chops are all fine in moderation. A few times a month wont hurt the average person (myself included). I just wont overdo it - I think the existence of the gout condition teaches this best! But complete abstinence makes Jasmine a very dull girl. I'm sure I'm not the only one! Don't forget to treat yourself! Remember, if you're happy it is almost always infectious so you'll be helping those around you as well!

Happy New Year! I really love reading everybody else's goals, because it inspires me to work on mine - plus, sometimes I even add goals when I see other peoples! I love having a fresh start to the year. I really want to be more positive this year, and to have a better outlook on life in general. I want to be more confident. I also want to learn, and learn as much as I can! Plus, I really want to make sure to save money, do good at school, and become a better photographer.
Let's all enjoy the Summer sunshine!
im not big on resolutions

Me neither, I feel like usually they're forgotten by the end of the month, at least with most people I know. I feel like if I think I need a change in my life it shouldn't matter what time of year it is, I'll work on it. But best of luck with yours, I hope you stay strong! :)
I felt the same way, so I hadn't really planned on doing resolutions. Then some friends told me about doing one resolution a week (the idea is also on CNN). To me, it really made a lot of sense because that way you can identify what you need to work on THAT WEEK, and it's a lot easier to do and be successful at. My week 1 resolution: work out daily. Week 2: work out daily + three 5mile runs. I'm not sure what week 3 will be...Maybe do 7 beauty product reviews?

Yours are ambitious!Mine? To floss every night. So far, I've missed two nights, but I'm getting back on the wagon each time I fall off. Otherwise, New Year's resolutions come with too much pressure. I'd like to be the best girlfriend, sister, and daughter possible without losing myself; get my work back on track; and take care of myself better. But if I make those into resolutions, then I put too much pressure on myself instead of seeing them as ongoing projects. One resolution I can add, though, is to hang out more on megsmakeup and post good content on my blog!

First - You are so gorgeous! And what a nice photo. Your resolutions are inspiring. I don't actually make resolutions, but I did get back on track with my weight loss program and getting fit. I lost a lot of weight last year - and then sort of slacked off my program for the last couple of months. But Jan. 1 started the new year - and I'm on-board!

My main goal is to be more adventurous. I feel i'm stuck in a hair, food, clothes, hair rut and when i feel like picking up the familiar, i'll try and opt for something i wouldn't normally buy/use.
I feel like I am in a rut too...I've been stuck in this rut for the past 2 new years! LOL
It is my resolution, too. I already changed my hair and makeup, but somehow I'm not brave enough to do something about my clothes - I don't like them, they're all grey, black and dark blue, but I'm afraid of wearing brighter colours.
Happy new year and welcome to LA! I don't really go resolutions, but every year at my birthday I set myself a goal, usually money-related, like pay off a private student loan, set up a retirement account. I've met those goals for a few years running so I'm doing pretty well. My birthday is next month and I haven't yet decided what goal to set, but I'm considering trying for a marathon!
I like all your resolutions! I should make my list now haha.
Good Post... Giving back to the community is one of my goals too, this year ... :)
What a great list of goals, Jasmine Simone! I sincerely wish you all the courage and strength in the world to achieve them and more. And even more importantly, not to chastise yourself too much should you fall a little short in the end. Life is a work in progress, remember. : ] I myself don't have any resolutions to ring in the new year. I find them too easy to forget once the glow of January rolls on by, and personally I prefer to make changes when I feel them to be necessary. Best of luck to all of the Megheads with their own journeys through the coming year!
These are inspired! I love the way you think. Mine aren't so much resolutions as they are my best efforts. (Same thing I suppose.) I just want to live more in the moment, wake up everyday feeling grateful, be more forgiving and accepting of myself, smile and laugh as often as possible and share all of these things with friends and family. Much love, luck and happiness to you and all of the lovely Meg Heads!
Happy New Year, I very much enjoyed reading your new year resolutions. Your a very beautiful lady and you list is inspiring!
What a incredibly inspiring list!! :-) My resolutions this year include becoming more financially responsible. I have a 5 year loan that will be paid up after this month and I want to continue to put the payment away into a savings account. Also I want to eat healthier by preparing real food...not my usual standbys of frozen dinners. I have a few other resolutions as well, which are basically to help me be a better person for me and for the people around me!
Beautiful post! Though, I'm not keen on social networking sites. I've been online since '91 and yet I refuse to use any social networking sites. To me they're basically a mass advertising network, a playground for all sorts of unsavories, and I'm just not interested. If I want a blog, I'll buy a .com and make my own.
... sanity is relative, insanity is quantum mechanics ...
Jasmine welcome and I love what you posted. I want to throw '09 away forever and never see it again. Now that we all have a brand new year to start fresh, I have already started in a really great positive way. Finally I feel my life is going in the right direction. First of all I have a brand new job/career that I love and started this week. It's been stressful because so much information to take in, but It's great and I'm very thankful especially in this economic slump we've encountered. I feel happier than I have in ages because when you're working and you don't enjoy what you're doing, it can make for a very slow and bad/wasted day. This will not happen again. Working out 5 days a week is making me feel great. I'm going to Interior Design school and I'm doing well with my grades and have learned so much I love it. I set time aside to make sure I've been reading really positive books. They have been a Godsend. I love to read and the information is the best. I will share that all with you later. Laughter is the best medicine and I plan on doing that and have been since my new job. Fun people and such a positive atmosphere. I love the fact that I can transfer to many different states. I was planning on moving anyway because I'm not a huge fan of Vegas. No offense to anyone who lives here. It just isn't for me. Things are looking great and brighter and I look forward to a great new year. Hope you all have the best as well. And as you stated, you were lucky to be introduced to this great website where we can all share our joys, sorrows, opinions, makeup (love it the best) and much, much more. My best to Meg for creating this site. It's been fantastic. I love the way people express their opinions. I love makeup, fashion, you name it. I'm truly a girly girl. Love it all. Happy New Year to all!!! It's going to be great. Remember, we're the CEO's of our own lives. Make it successful.

Well I have a few...mostly eat healthy, keep up my 90% average, etc. Happy new year ladies
your list inspired me - thank you for sharing it. i am setting myself a goal of participating in the breast cancer 3 day walk this year. a friend did it last year and didn't prepare well enough but even those that did found it brutal but fulfilling. that's my goal. and to not talk like a sailor. and to continue my gratitude journal. hey - that's 3 - i'm on a roll!!
Happy New Year! I hope you have a great 2010! I plan to and really hope this year will be great but I know it will be because I have my best friend and husband by my side along with our kids. I guess I havent set resoluations but I really want to just eat healthier, exercise more and live a healthier life along with getting closer to the lord. Thanks for a wonderful post!
Those are some great goals! I have made a few myself, but they are the typical "eat better, exercise more" kind of resolutions, nothing profound. I finally feel like my personal life has been getting more on track, so I want to keep it that way!
Using my juicer, exercise and a good attitude;
i would love to be more outgoing this year, read more books and meet more people :)
my most important would be stop being so damn lazy!!! and do some chores, clean my room and KEEP it clean!!!!... I'm a complete work-a-holic, but when it comes to cleaning the house, i just buzz out.Ohhh and I need to learn how to cook! my boyfriend's been doing all the cooking for the last 2 years.. but i chopped 2 cucumbers today...
My youtube: http://www.youtube.com/lilyscorner123My blog: http://lazyscorner.blogspot.com/
we have similar goals miss jasmine! for the cooking one - check out the show "cook yourself thin" .. their recipes look amazing!
what full list! I have to say I haven't made any goals for 2010 yet, but I think I need to put more effort into my lovely family, and I think it is time (now my youngest is 2) to ease myself back into paid work. Not very lofty goals compared to yours!Best of luck achieving all you want in 2010.
Lily - Mineral makeup Junkie!!!
Work harder at collegeLearn to like myself Make myself over (still continue my natural hair battle, learn more about makeup, have a better clothing style)Forgive those who've hurt meStop worrying and tourmenting myself about the pastBE HAPPY and love!
These are great, especially the arts one :)
I wanna stay healthy, have fun times with my friends, read more. I just wanna enjoy life and appreciate everything I have :)
Great resolutions, hope you achieve all of them!
my resolution is to eat healthy this year!
You are SUCH a gorgeous young woman! :) Love your beautiful spirit and I wish you everything wonderful in this New Year: I think you have set some amazing resolutions for yourself! :)I don't have any resolutions but my "goal" is simply to make one step each day in the direction I'd like everything in my life to "be!" Healthy,happy,loving...
You are SO beautiful! My New Year's resolutions mostly involve living a healthier life, physically, mentally and emotionally. It's hard for me to stick with anything, because I'm very big on instant gratification, but so far, so good.
I don't make New Year's resolutions, I've tried, and it's just a major let-down when I can't keep up with them. But this year I am trying some new things. Starting with my work schedule. I work from home, and you'd think my house would be clean, but it's a pigsty and I hate it. Starting tomorrow, I'm working 4 days a week, 10 hour days, and have wednesdays off. I'm excited to have an extra day to myself. I hope to be able to keep up with household things better now and I'm really looking forward to the change. :)

I didn't make any really substantial resolutions this year, because I always break them on January 2nd anyway. I thought if I made several smaller resolutions, there might be a better chance that one of them would work out. I always make the usual eating healthier, working out more often, having more patience types of goals, but this New Year's I made some that I think I can handle: stop drinking soda, stop washing my hair every day, stop biting my fingernails. I'll consider it a success if I do any of those three things less often by 2011 than I did in 2009, even if I do drink a little bit of soda throughout 2010 or bite my nails a few times.
My NY's goal is to lose 15 lbs and fit into my little black dress my bf loves so much, and to keep a single job the entire year. :D can't wait to see how I'd do
I'm keeping it simple this year. Learn patience and foster creativity!
WOW Jasmine! You go! You have really got your work cut out for you. I wish you success and I wish I had half your motivation. I have decided that January 1 is not some magical day to make resolutiuons, start a diet or anything else. When you are good and ready you will. The gym will happily make you a member on April 9, you can switch from plastic bags to grocery bags on February 2 and still be doing the environment a whole lot of good. I switched to a reusable, no-PCB's water bottle in November instead of waiting for January 1. Since I am at the gym for hours a day, either training clients or working out myself, that's a lot of water bottle that aren't being used by me.
I was going to say "Keep writing blog entries here," but I think that falls under Community Service =)I'm bad about making "real" resolutions, because inevitably I will break them by the end of January. I'm just trying to take it all one day at a time =)
Happy New Year! You have some big aspirations for this year! I hope you're able to successfully do everything you want! I'm not big on resolutions - at all - but I guess two things I want to do this year are starting to communicate better with my boyfriend. I think our relationship would be a lot stronger. Also, I'm trying to be healthier. I joined a gym last month and I've been going a couple of days a week. I probably should attempt to eat healthier too, so we'll see how that goes.
Happy New Year! Wow, you are one motivated girl! My only "resolution" is to continue to keep in shape, eat healthy, etc etc.
Britt♥
My biggest resolution is losing some weight :)
Happy new year! One of my main resolutions this year is to call everyone on their birthday if I have their number ven though I don't like being on the phone much. It just personalizes the birthday wish as compared to a text message or a message on facebook which get mixed up with everyone elses wishes anyway. And I want to post my new years resolutions on the sidebar of my new blog too because I find that resolutions are forgotten by the end of Jan, so it's really not worth making resolutions unless they're going to be visible often and motivate you to meet them
Another year, the same resolutions. :(I'm still trying to lose weight and eat healthier, but alas, I'm not making progress.
Oh gosh, resolutions. I never make them. I just endeavour to live the best life I can, cherish my friends and family and try my hardest to reach my goals. Bit boring, but they seem to sum up everything that I want.
Happy New yr! My main goals are to 1) graduate from my Dale Carnegie course with flying colors (it has been kind of stressful so far) 2) exercise every day 3) learn how to cook (I can do the basics, scrambled eggs, toast, sandwiches, pizza, pasta but I want to make deilicious dinners) 4) take motorcycle lessons and obtain my motorcycle lessons and 5) pay off my credit card. wholy crap that sounds overwhelming!
I am all about this positive vibe! It is the only way we can get oursleves motivated to more for others and for ourselves---and maybe it is the way that we can all come out of the recession with more resolve and more to give back to communities that need our help. Real beauty truly does come from within.
I love these resolutions, they are so much better and more meaningful then "lose weight". I never keep resolutions, but I made one this year, to keep daily to-do lists. I always waste so much time online or watching tv, so by making a list of daily goals, it'll help me manage my time better.
Great ambitious goals, very worthy of making those changes, I admire you!My only thoughts are for me to be more grateful for each day that I am given, I have end stage liver disease which has disabled me, thus I have been unable to work for 14 yrs. I am severely limited in what I can do, ( often I am housebound) and at times I want to feel sorry for myself and ask why me, but that is so NON PRODUCTIVE, that I want to really really focus on being grateful, I have so much to be grateful for! I have a loving husband, and two beautiful boys !! They really are what my life is about!
