BVLGARI! PETITS ET MAMANS
BabyLove here! I was thrilled when BVLGARI agreed to send some samples of their new fragrance for mom and baby, from their line Petits et Mamans. I thought it might be a tough sell to some of your more conservative folks, and to those who believe that a baby should just smell like a baby. Fortunately, this fragrance smells exactly like you'd expect a newly bathed baby to smell.
As most of you know, I have two young boys at home. I definitely thought my husband would not be crazy about his sons wearing perfume, but he actually enjoyed the scent so much that it didn't bother him. He also couldn't really tell when they were wearing it because the scent is so subtle. I certainly use this perfume more on myself than I do on my boys, but have used it more times than I can count when a quick wet down was all that I could fit in.
The strongest scent (and I use the word strong very lightly) in this perfume is of baby powder. Accompanied by a light chamomile and peach smell, the combination makes for such a simple and easy scent. It's extremely easy on your senses. The packaging is absolutely precious. The clear bottle is adorned with pastel animals and a gorgeous, delicate color pattern.
BVLGARI has an entire bath line of animal shaped soaps, bath and shampoo gel, and a body lotion dedicated to baby and mom. The line is allergy tested, and perfect for children's sensitive skin. This is a PERFECT, I repeat PERFECT gift for an expectant or new mother. It's so nice to give something that mom and baby can share and enjoy, since mom should be rewarded for doing most of the work! A fabulous idea for dad to pick up for mom just because she's awesome.
Petit et Mamans fragrance is a total winner for so many different reasons. This is first on my list for the next year full of baby showers I'll be attending. I would have been thrilled if I received this as a gift. Check it out, and I'm sure you'll have the most unique and thoughtful gift.
Fragrance for an infant? Crazy? Or just precious to start indulging a beauty habit at a young age.

I'm hoping that someone in my circle gets pregnant soon because I would so love to give this as a gift! Sounds lovely. I first thought it was kind of goofy to put perfume on a baby... but then I remembered that I used to dust a little baby powder on my dogs when they were puppies. They smelled so wonderful. I might start doing that again (hmmmm, so who's crazy now?). It was so pleasing to cuddle them. But I draw the line on perfuming them!

i used some Bvlgari perfumes (White Tea, Red Tea, Green Tea) and I love how natural they smell on me. Bvlgari is a great perfume brand for those that dont want to smell too perfumey.
Cool!
I have some of this line and I hate it. I would never allow something so unnatural near my baby and when I put on perfume, I want to smell like a real woman!
I adore scent on just about everyone but honestly am not sure I'd apply on one so young?I would consider it for a shower gift but although I think Blvgari is an elegant and notable line,I want a baby to be and smell like one.Maybe for a young girl though...
ooh sounds like a cool product!
When I received this scent from BLVGARI, I was puzzled. A scent for both mom and baby? Hmmmm. I immediately tried it and loved the soft, subtle baby powder scent with a hint of musk. It smells just like new baby! I was hesitant to put any perfume on my son. So, I mixed a little dab of this fragrance in with his unscented lotion and applied it after his bath. He smelled so good and clean. The packaging is just so darn adorable. I agree with Babylove -- this fragrance would be a such a unique shower gift. This mom/baby scent is a winner!!
a fragrance for infants... i think that just crossed the line for me. children let alone infants are pure, i think we should preserve their childhood within their prescribed stages.. instead of contaminating their childhood at an earlier and earlier time.. when that kid reaches to age 2, he/she would probably be begging for Chanel 5... I don't think 12 year olds should wear fragrances.. let alone infants..

I was so excited to try this when I got it. My daughter is 4 and feels like she has to put perfume on before she heads out to preschool...I know very unhealthy! This little bottle is absolutely adorable! It would make such a great gift. I think I am actually going to add it to my daughters goodie bags for her "model" birthday party that is coming up. I am in love with how soft and clean the smell is. It has a soft smell of powder mixed with a berry smell. I wear it, my daughter wears it what more can you ask for? I don't know if I would ever put it on a infant but for little girls it is perfect!!!! I definitely want to try more products from the line!

I didn't know Bvulgari did a children's line, it'd make a beautiful gift.

Hmm...I remember Cabbage Patch dolls smelling like baby powder. :-) It would definitely depend on the person. I have a couple of friends who have had babies in the last year and I can't imagine either of them appreciating this as a gift. They are both way too practical.
i think its a fun idea!! something suddle i think would be nice people are always picking up babies and hugging babies it would be nice to switch it up and have some yummy smells!!
I've tried the soaps that you mentioned & they're nice, but I def wouldn't want to dab some perfume on my baby.. that's a bit too young in my opinion
what an unusual concept, perfume for a baby.. babies always smell so good anyways.. i love sniffing a baby head, lol.
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
I was really excited to get this product because i knew it was from a very well-established company with a stellar reputation. And I knew it was expensive, which enticed my inner snob a bit. ;) But, I was hesitant to use it on my one-year-old son, Kyle. For one, he's a boy. Boys don't need perfume! And two, he's only 1. When he turns 13 and starts caring about girls, then we'll talk about some light cologne, but I've got 12 years until then! When I opened the beautifully wrapped package I immediately smelled the baby powder scent with something else in there, lemon maybe? The bottle is adorable, very 'baby shower' and looks great in my bathroom. I tried it on myself and it's great. Very subtle, very baby powder-y, and you only need a dab or two and it lasts a long time. I use it a lot on Mondays, after a fun weekend with my little guy, I'm always sad to go to work and leave him at daycare. I put a little dab on my wrists and as I'm typing at my desk, I'm getting little wiffs of baby scent. It makes me miss my tiny man a little less. Because I'm a good reviewer, I did try a bit on Kyle. I felt weird doing it. His skin is so soft and pure and smells so good from the baby lotion we have that he really didn't need any more of this. So I tried just a tiny bit on his hairline right before we headed out to a friend's party. As most of you know, everyone is a sucker for a good smelling baby. And there was NO shortage of 'I LOVE THAT BABY SMELL" comments from everyone. Must have been the BVLGARI that really got them. I haven't used it much on him since, but I do love this for myself. Occassionally, when we have a free night (thanks grandparents!) my husband and I will get to go out to dinner. I will wear this perfume and we both feel like we have a little bit of our baby there with us (without the mess, thrown food, spoon banging, utensil throwing, yelling or dirty looks from other patrons!) Not a bad product and I second BabyLove that this would be a FANTASTIC shower gift.
Aww, I really think that this is a cute idea. I would definitely give this as a gift. I think you'd have to be particular who you gave it to though. Some people would probably think you were nuts for giving them perfume for babies, some people would absolutely love it. I feel like everyone around me is having babies right now so this could be a perfect present!
i am a big fan of BVLGARI's white tea scent
Sounds pretty groovy.
i generally like their perfumes but i cant see myself using anything beyond johnsons and johnsons on my kids until theyre like 6. this coming from someone with NO kids...

Awesome gift idea for my pregnant sis-in-law who has everything. Thanks!
Perfume for babies? I'm sure there's a market out there for that sort of thing, so why not? I don't have any babies, so I wouldn't buy it, but the scent description made me say "awwwwww" inside.
I've seen a number of products which come in a "baby powder" scent over the past decade, some of which are only a few dollars. As a mother, I'm not really all that interested in smelling like my kids arse. I agree with jadelm, when I put on perfume I want to smell like a woman. If you're looking for a gift for a new or expectant mother, then go for something more practical like a pair of oversized cute slippers (blotting after birth can often mean you no longer fit any of your shoes and your feet are painful as hell).
... sanity is relative, insanity is quantum mechanics ...
Seriously? A perfume for children? I don't see myself as conservative but I guess in this case I am. I just don't see the point in putting perfume on a child... But I don't have any children of my own so I guess I don't really have an opinion on this. I wouldn't judge my friends for using this on their children but I would probably ask them why they do it. But in reality I can't see any of my friends ever using perfume on their babies.
I don't like the idea of small children using perfumes, but my little niece loves girly things, so I gave her a solid perfume from Glittersniffer (Etsy) - she has a lot of sweet scents (milk chocolate, toffee, ginger popcorn, apricot...). It isn't all natural, but there are no ingredients I avoid, so I think it's not too bad.
I love the smell of babies, so this is something I might use on myself, but I would probably not put it on a baby. Since I don't have a baby of my own, that's a moot point. But I would purchase it for a shower gift, I am running out of ideas for original gifts, and this would be something different.
I don't know how I'd feel about using this on a baby either, but the scent description sounds so sweet. And other commenters are definitely making me want to look further into BVLGARI... I've been searching around for that perfect scent =)
I don't think it's bad. It just seems really weird, and something I would never spend money on. Babies are young, they are cute because they are young. The whole needed to beautify a baby with perfume is just odd.
Let's all enjoy the Summer sunshine!
I don't find it a bit odd to buy fragrance for a baby. The scent that most people associate with a baby is not the actually smell of a baby, but the combination of the traditional scents used in "baby care" products such as Johnson & Johnson baby wash, lotion and powder and the smell of the gentle detergents we use to wash their clothing (Dreft).
They have some great fragrances and bath products. I love Green Tea in the summer and keep the scent and the lotion in the fridge. I also like that they have matching deodorant for several scents. A friend really likes White Tea nd it smells subtle and warm on her. I sometimes wear Crystalline and it just has this "out of the shower or bath" aroma. Very good company!
I think it's crazy. Infants don't need frangrance.
infants definitely do not need fragrance. Completely unnecessary, they probably don't even like the scent!

I can definitely appreciate how the power of scent can really help set a mood and could even help a Mother and baby to bond together. I like the idea of using the scent in moisturiser to make it a very soft and non-invasive kind of application on the little one. Also, I would think if the mother was wearing it then holding the little one might transfer a little onto them anyway? Or you could dab some on their nappy or their clothes if you're worried about sensitivity issues. : ] Great post, loved reading about this~!
I have to say, I wouldn't put a commercial scent on my little girls, mostly because generally they are full of pthalates and other nasty synthetic chemicals. I also think that baby scent is the best scent around :)If I do use fragranced products on my daughters I always opt for stuff scented with pure essential oils, that way I am sure that my daughters are not breathing icky endocrine disruptors.I don't mean to flame anyone who does though, that is just my opinion :)

Fragrance for an infant? Crazy? Or just precious to start indulging a beauty habit at a young age.I am Cuban-American, so baby perfume is a standard in my community. I have three baby perfumes in my own rotation - Johnson & Johnson Baby Cologne, Mennen Colonia para Bebes, and the Cuban classic Royal Violets.
I love Bulgari... esp the Eau de Toilette Extrême of the Eau Parfumée au thé vert line... but perfume for infants? crazy... then again, most baby products list fragrance as an ingredient, & I'm guessing that's how the baby scent came about.
I think this is creepy too- just as we find out that organic food is really important for a baby's development... we find a new reason to put chemicals on their skin? I'd hate it if they later developed a nasty skin condition from being exposed to chemicals so young...
i think this is a crazy idea as well, infants definitely do not need fragrance.
I love perfumes :)
i think perfume for babies is crazy! haha! they smell great already (sometimes!). burberry baby touch (i think that's the name) smells nice but i wouldn't have used it on my kids when they were babies. each to their own though! :)
I LOVE this scent... It's actually not a new scent, I have been wearing this for years. I started using this back in High School which was about 11 years ago & now that I have a 6 year old daughter I buy it for both of us! It has such a soft, clean smell! Definitely one of my favorites.
I admit that I do find it weird to put perfume on a baby but since it's just baby smells...it's really not that weird. I will be buying it for the next baby shower I attend.

It does sound quite crazy. I think I'd be more likely to buy it for myself (because it sounds like it smells great) than give it for an expectant mother. But seeing as it smells like baby, not like fruit I don't think its as weird.
so it makes babies smell like... babies?haha, cute idea i guess.
It sounds cute! I would have used it on my babies when they were babies if I had known of it or if they even had it back then. lol
great product!

I think this is a perfect gift for a Mommy to be!

I think it would be fine for babies because it's a light scent, not a heavy one. Not really different from actually using baby powder or a scented lotion
interesting... but seriously? perfume? for BABIES? i get that it's for mom's too and that's fine but IMO this crosses a line.
Sounds kind od strange but good
