LINE ME UP, LINE ME DOWN!

Sun, 11/29/2009 - 10:09am
  • Eyes

linemeupMissRo here and I'm back from my incredible trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil. What a city!!! I think it's one thing to go to Rio De Janeiro, but it's another thing to go to the heart of Brazil, no the heart of South America and experience all that this city has to offer. Oh, and you've never tasted better food in your life! Whether it's a top restaurant or a "fast" food place, everything is so delicious and fresh!

OK, back to beauty... One of my favorite products in beauty is eyeliner. Whether it's liquid or a pencil, it really helps to define the eyes. I'm partial to liquid, especially Lancome's liquid eyeliner. It's an all-in-one tube with the liquid liner inside with a thin, easy-to-use applicator. All you do is shake it and apply the liner and you have perfectly lined eyes. So, it was time to try Dr. Dima's Line Me Up, Line Me Down Astro-Orbital Accent.

Again with the name! Before you even try the product, you're intrigued with it just from the name. Now, her liner comes in a package similar to an eyeshadow, so you need to get yourself a thin brush, specifically for liner. Not a problem, because all the best brands have a line of brushes and you can find what your looking for. I like Stila's Double-Sided Brush #15 for $32. You have the liner brush on one side and an eyeshadow brush on the other.

What's great about this liner is that you can wear it both wet and dry! So, you can create a simple, more natural look that's similar to an eye pencil or a more dramatic look similar to liquid liner. This is fantastic, because it's two different liners in one product. I tried it wet and was wearing it all day in the hot, tropical weather of Brazil and it did not move!

It comes in five colors - AstroRain, AstroCoal, AstroSea, AstroJade, and AstroMoon. So, you can wear your tried and true everyday colors of brown or black, or be more adventurous and try it in blue, green, or eggplant. Their delicately miiled and micro-fine to reflect light and add vibrancy to your eyes. Their free of talc, fragrance and other skin irritants, so it's excellent for use on sensitive goddess eyes! You can wear it alone with a little mascara or really doll-up your eyes and create a cat-eye look, either way your eyes will look fabulous!

Do you wear eyeliner? Are you a pencil girl or a liquid girl? What is your favorite brand?

Wow, $28? There are tons of GREAT gel/cream eyeliners out there that are less than $28. (Gel/cream are my favorite type of eyeliner, although eyeliner markers come in a close 2nd). My personal favorites: -Stila Smudgepots. Super pigmented, TONS of product. The only downside? I wish they had more colors! $20 -MAC Fluidlines. I love these. Although they're not as pigmented as Stila's, MAC's come in tons of colors. Unfortunately, many of them have been discontinued. $14.50 -Jane mineral gel eyeliners. Jane has been discontinued I think, but if you can get your hands on one of these, it'll only cost you a couple of dollars! Very pigmented, comes with a little brush. Great quality, especially for being so inexpensive. -Wet n Wild gel eyeliners. Super pigmented, only cost around $3. Unfortunately, it only comes in Black and Plum, but these are also fantastic products. Great way to try out gel/cream eyeliners without shelling out a lot of money. I've also tried Smashbox's cream liner (nice color selection, but they don't wear very well, and smudge onto my eyelids), Urban Decay Ink for Eyes in Empire (loved the color but the pigmentation and texture and wear was terrible. Other colors seem to work better though), Clinique's (decent, but not my favorite).

I'm also a big fan of gel and cream liners, and agree with most of your choices.  I've never tried Jane's, though, and I would also add L'oreal HIP Truth Cream to the list, they have some nice colors and wear really well.

I just love the names of Dr. Dima's products!  I have used pencil liners, liquid liners and gel liners.  I haven't found my HG liquid liner but I do use the gel liner from Coastal Scents and I love it.  Sure it can be a hassle to use a brush but I have been practicing and I really love to wear winged liner so I easily achieve that with the gel liner.

yeah i think 28 is a bit much too, i love eyeliners! and even my 24/7 urban decay ones weren't that much.. they do last a long time too. I really like wet liners tho for a sharp upper line.. actually ELF do a really easy one with their waterproof pen's.. not sure how great it is for the skin though. I use a lot of my shadows as liners too by dipping a brush in a mix of water and glycerin.

I echo what bluedevilkitty and others have said above.
Personally, I am against buying anything that only allows you a short window for returning.  The restocking fee is crazy.  Sorry Dr. Dima!

This line really is expensive, I don't see myself purchasing from them.  I like using my loose or pressed eyeshadows as liners.  Usually using the same colour I put on the outer v of my eye.  I either apply it dry or with MAC Fix+ and it works nicely.  I have an Urban Decay pencil in Underground and I love this colour!  Makes my green eyes pop.  I also use pencils from Avon and Smashbox cream liner without any problem.  I suck at using liquid liner but still keep trying.  I just can't seem to get the wing right to make the cat eye I want.  I have wanted to try the indelible gel liners a lot of companies seem to sell.  I see them a lot on another blog I read and the colours are so interesting!  I do like the good old black and brown liner, but definitely like to spice it up with colours.

I like the way these products look - they have great colors and they products themselves look great, but definitely out of my price range. I like pencil eye liner the best and I'm a pretty big fan of gel liners. My favorites are Urban decay's 24/7 pencils, they're great and long lasting. They stay on my water line which is a huge plus. I just got into gel liners, but right now I'm using the Jane mineral ones. They're so inexpensive, but are really nicely pigmented and long lasting. They stay in place too. My favorite is a plum color they make. It has a gold shimmer in it. Love it!

I don't wear alot of liner. I usualy use my mineral shadows as a liner on top and bottom. Lol.  But when I do want a little more dramatic I have to say I love the laura geller I care in brown! I use liner more often since meg sent this to me!The fact that this one is like a shadow is interesting. But this brand is tried ansd true!

Eyeliner is a must most days for me. Depending on how dramatic I want it, I usually switch between liquid (Revlon Colorstay) and powder (EDM). I have a cream liner set from Victoria's Secret that I love, but can only use this if I'm doing my makeup right before I go out because after a couple hours it smudges.

I love trying out new eyeliners. Pencils, liquids, creme liners, powdered liners, I use them all! My favorite is powder because I can apply it very soft and subtle during the day or wet it to create a dramatic liquid liner for evening.

I love eyeliner, and I always wear it.  I am a pencil girl, I also really love the crayon style pencils.  I am currently using a gel liner which you apply with a brush.  I really like it and it never moves or smudges, but sometimes it can be a bit full on for day wear.

I LOVE eyeliner, i can not wear any other make up but eyeliner is a must, my face looks like a naked mole without it.. lol.. well it's either that or mascara.I love putting a coat of dark silvery eyeshadow on top of my eyeliner on my top lid, it gives a shimmery smokey effect.I'm an all rounder when it comes to eyeliner, when i can't be bothered i use pencil. When i want a subtle look i go for powdered/black shadow.when i'm going to parties and i want precision and avoid smudging i go for gel :)

I am absolutely an eyeliner junkie....and yet i haven't found the one i love yet.  I have tried everything from smashbox to minerals to liquids.   I'm not much for pencils bc i can't seem to get the thin line that i like with a pencil. this sounds great but....a bit out of my price range since i tend to buy when they are on sale or in a value bundle of some sort.  I will however, keep my eyes open for it to go on sale :)

I like Astromoon (purple) and Astrocoal (black). I went to the website and they are having a BOGO sale (buy 1 get 1) on these. I personally use a loose black e/s and line my eyes with a liner brush. I prefer pencils over liquid liners though (because I always mess up on the liquid liners and end up looking silly).

This looks gorgeous! I do have to admit that I prefer automatic pencils because they travel better, but I also use regular pencils, liquid, gel, and plain eyeshadow as eyeliner. It is really important to have a great brush when using powder or gel eyeliner. When I use eyeshadow, I just use water, and if it's good eyeshadow, it sets very well. I have heard of a MAC product that can be sprayed on a brush to convert eyeshadow to eyeliner easily.

I am also a huge fan of the cream/gel liners, and I have all of the Stila smudge pots, all of the L'oreal HIP liner pots, and about 10 colors of the Urban Decay pencil liners. My current favorite liner is a purple shade of Sonia Kashuk that I got at Target. It goes on smoothly, without tugging, and lasts all day long. I think I paid $6 for it. I would be willing to pay $28 for a liner, but it would have to be pretty great.

I love eyeliner. I either use a mineral eyeshadow (wet or dry) as a liner or my very fave, Stila Smudge Pot in Little Black Dress. I use a Loew Cornell (artist, like, painting) brush that's supposed to be a dupe for MAC 208. It's super fast to apply--so great.

I've been using a shade from a Victoria's Secret eye trio that I got last year as a liner - the black in the trio is just a little sparkly, blends well, and lasts forever without smudging (the other two colors were a pale gold and a pale blue).  I just use a liner brush to put it on and I'm good to go.  That way I can smudge it just a little for a more smokey eye than I can usually do with a liner.  I believe they discontinued this, but I was there just a few days ago and saw they have full sized pots of a new formula with a color that looks very similar, but I've been using this one for a year and have plenty left.

I have used Dior Liquid Liner for a few years now and I love love love it.  With a simple twist of the bottom I get enough liner to coat one eye fully.  It's long-wearing and the brush is beautifully molded to create the perfect shape for lines.
