THE BODY SHOP! BURITI BABY BUTTER!
BabyLove here! When I was a teenager, I remember buying Body Butter from The Body Shop, and not being very impressed. I thought it was a little greasy, and never bought another tube of it. So, still after 10 years I was a little hesitant about their offer to send out some Buriti Baby Butter. I'm happy to announce that I am now a huge fan!
The Buriti Tree, found in the Amazon rain forest, produces the oil used in this baby body butter. There is a whole line made from this, including wash, shampoo, and massage gel. The line is tear free and free from artificial colors and alcohol. Paraben and preservative free, the butter is perfect for sensitive skin.
The butter is not overly thick, it's more like a souffle, and smoothes on nicely. This time around, it isn't one bit greasy. The first time smelling it, I thought it was going to be a little too "floral" smelling for me (I have a thing with floral patterns, floral smells, etc. My house growing up was adorned with floral everything), but turned out to smell much less overwhelming once applied to the skin. I have used this on both my kids, and myself, and really believe that it does leave the skin much more moisturized, especially now that the weather is turning.
The price is $20 for a 7 ounce round tube, but used sparingly, it lasts. I'm not entirely sure that I'll buy this again, but I will definitely try something else from the line. The nice thing about The Body Shop, is that there really is something for everyone there. With the holidays coming up, the store is always a sure bet for already assembled gift bags, and that makes everyone's life a little easier.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving yesterday! Also, if there are products that you use at home, and think that everyone else should know about, please get in touch with me and pass on your secrets!
Has anyone else used Body Shop Body Butters? What did you think?

I am completely addicted to this body butter! There is something in the scent of this body butter that makes me feel so calm and peaceful... it reminds me of something but I can not put my finger on it. I started using it on my daughter and after one use it make its way to MY nightstand. I would take a bath in this stuff if I could. I use it every night on my feet, hands and legs. It is a great and leaves you feeling so soft and moisturized. I am in love with the smell! I can't explain how much comfort I get from one little sniff. I have used half the container in 2 weeks but I definitely use way more than you need, like I said addicted! I will be buying this body butter for the rest of my life! Now I just need to figure out what a Buriti tree is and how to get them in my back yard.

I always loved Body Shop body butters. As thick as they are, they were really one of the only products that turned my wintery, scaley, flakey legs into things that looked more human than reptile. I'm not sure why, but I haven't used Body Shop products in years and had no idea they had the Buriti Baby line. I have a 3 year old and a newborn so we were excited to try this out. I find the "adult" body butters to have the consistency of cold butter...you know when its hard to cut with a knife and destroys the bread you're putting it on rather than smears on nicely - that would be my recollection of past Body Shop body butters. The Buriti line...different story! Its like warm butter - rich, creamy, soft, glides on. Its not greasy, its just soft, really really soft. It works great too. I just put it on my hands and they feel wonderful. Its super easy to slather on the kids. The smells is a bit flowery...actually I just realized it smells like baby powder! Not my first choice in scent but I don't dislike it. Great product, would love to see what else they have in this line for the kiddos!
Ahh -- I have been anxiously awaiting to review this *amazing* product! I am a huge fan of the Body Shop's Buriti Baby Body butter. Like gwenn, the first time I used it was on my little guy. After that first time, the tub has taken up a permanent residence on my nightstand. The subtle powdery scent smells like "new baby" to me, which is the best smell EVER! Over the past 3 weeks, I've almost made my way through the entire tub. I love the consistency of the butter -- not too thick and absorbs quickly. The Buriti oil, olive oil and aloe vera ingredients make my dry skin so soft and smooth. The ingredients calm my sensitive, irritated winter skin. I love the Body shop -- they make excellent products and have strong corporate values (they do not engage in animal testing, support fair trade, work to protect the planet... just to name a few). I will be stocking up on more body butter and other products from this fabulous line.
Body Shop's lip and body butters are my fave products from their collection. Mango, anyone? They smell delicious and keep my skin moisturized and smooth. I will be on the lookout for this product, because who doesn't want baby smooth skin? :) There may be a black friday deal going on- 3 for $30 in-stores..

interesting! il have to check the body shop out. ive heard their skin products are very moisturizing so il c. ;p
I am obsessed with hydratation and moisturizers.I MUST try this one!
ah I haven't really tried body butters yet. I usually use Aveeno's lotion and it moisturizes my legs just fine.
finally! (:some recognitition for the body shop! love their stuff... it all smells soooo good.. their lip balms: addicting. just some good quliaty stuff.
I've been dying to review on this product! I have always been a fan of Body Butters. I think when I was younger I loved the blueberry one -now I love this scent! I don't know if its a floral scent or if it smells like clean babies? Ever since becoming a mom I love all the scented baby products. I use this on both my daughter's and myself. My youngest daughter which EVERYTHING happens to just had a chicken pox's outbreak (even though she was vaccinated)and the Body Butter helps a lot with her dry scabs. I love when products are preservative free and alcohol free because I don't have to think twice before using them on my kids. I will be looking for the other tear free products from this line. Thanks for introducing this to me!!!!!!
Ooh this sounds gorgeous, BabyLove! I've been an on-and-off fan of MOR body butters; most recently due to the fact that the local discount mall has them for only AU$10. ;] This sounds lovely though, I really like lighter body creams. :D
"Souffle" and "non-greasy"? Sounds fantastic!!! Not sure how much I'd pay for body butter, but it sure is sounding fabulous.
it's good to hear its not overly thick. Ive always wanted to try a body butter because ever since i moved away from the coast my skin is so dry! and ive never had dry skin before! Hopefully i can find a ub of this and give it a try!

I love the Body Shop butters and always have one around the house. My favorites are nut and papaya. I haven't tried the baby one yet, so that's on my list for next time.

Some of my friends are great fans of Body shop's body butters. Don't think I had never bought one though. But Babylove, you described the butter having a consistency that is more like a souffle --- ooh... this is too tempting, going to check out the body shop on Monday (there's one near my workplace).
This sounds SO lovely!!! I have a habit of self-using baby products sometimes when my skin just starts to protest all the other things I use and this sounds wonderfully soothing!I've also been known to take a tub of BB into the bath: used sparlingly IN the tub,it's amazing to shave your legs with.:)ALSO,if you apply right after you towel-off,you'll get a lot more out of a tub and lock in that precious moisture while your skin is still warm and moist.Going to grab a tub of this next trip out, thanks for s great review!
I like your description of the product - it sounds nice, but not fantastic. I like that is doesn't have preservatives in it. I'm currently addicted to the Body Shop's Tea Tree Clearing Facial Wash. It's done wonders for my skin. I've seen a massive improvement in my complexion and it also controls acne and oil without drying.
I love body butter but have never used one from Body Shop.I hate that they can be greasy. I always have to check, while I am in the store, because I won't use greasy suff on my skin. I don't like strong floral scents either (which is always a problem when finding perfume).

I like body butters. However, sometimes when you have really dry winter skin I wish they went a little further! When you put it on your whole body you can use alot quickly!
Confession of a bad mom...I steal my son's skin products. Especially this stuff. It's awesome! And come on, he's only 31 inches tall right now, how much can he need? I have always loved Body Shop stuff, but never really bought much since sometimes it can be expensive and I hate having to all the way to the mall when there's a CVS right down the street with regular lotion that works just as good. So, when I got this, I was pretty excited to try it out. I was a good Mom and tried it on my son first, and then when I realized I was following him around trying to get a wiff of his super soft, buttery skin I figured I could at least try it on my hands...I won't tell you how far it's gone. This stuff is so light, almost fluffy, and goes on so smoothly and quick. Quick is key when you have a wiggling one-year-old trying his hardest to get back INTO the bathtub. It isn't greasy at all and leaves almost a powedery finish. And the scent is not too strong, but definitely sticks around. I'd still be able to smell it at night if I put it on in the morning. My husband at first thought it was a bit flowery, but it left my son's normally dry skin so soft that he said it was worth it. This is definitely on my list of things worth going out of my way to get!
I've always stayed away from body butter just because of the greasiness factor, but this sounds pretty great!
awww i love these! so sumptious.. i got one in a pink carton oh yeah the pink grapefruit one! so nice the smell- love them! Ran out of it ages ago and am now using up my avon sss which is ok.
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
i love the body shop's butter, especially the strawberry ones, it smells delicious i want to eat it all the time
I used to use Body Shop products all the time, I worked very near one of the stores. Now I don't, so I haven't been purchasing there, but this review made me remember how much I loved the papaya body butter, I used to get constant compliments on the scent. I would buy some for my 6 month old niece, but my sister used this baby lotion from target that smells just like marshmallows. I massage it into her little feet and I just want to eat them, they're so cute and chubby and smell so good. Sorry, I have a thing for baby feet.
Just this past summer I tried the Body Shop Body Butter in the (oh so heavenly) "Japanese Cherry Blossom" scent. The consistency really is soothing to the touch. This Buriti Baby Butter sounds wonderful also. I will definitely have to check this scent out. Thanks!
I've always hated TBS's body butters. Thick, greasy and they take about 5 or 6 hours to sink into my skin, even a year ago the ones I tried were still awful. I think though, its part of my skin type because a lot of moisturisers struggle to sink into my skin and they are greasy for quite a while. I don't know if I can justify spending money on another one which may not work still.
I like the body shop products, especially the body butters and the lip balms. My friend has the shea body butter, and I am always stealing some off her.
I love the body butters but they do go quick when i use after getting out of the shower and apply to my whole body! to be honest they can be kinda greesy but thats why i put it on before bed.

i love the body shop body butters i've tried. at the moment i'm using the pink grapefruit one. it smells divine. :)
The first body butter I have used was from The Body Shop and I was completely in love with them! The smell was undeniably amazing and lasts for quite some time but I found that I go through a tub very quickly and that was too expensive for me. So I stopped using them but if there was a sale I might just pick one up!
I'm not a fan of the body shop butters as they contain chemicals they advertise them as if they are made from natural ingredients and yes there are some natural ingredients in there but there's also chemicals which disappoints me :-( shame !!!
I've always avoided body butters in fear of the greasiness but I'm going to try this cause my skin is really needing something strong.

I really love Body Shop body butters, I haven't tried this specific kind but I am in need of a new kind 9I used up my strawberry scented one) so I may have to pick this up!!
Now I'm upset I missed the grab bag deal. I'm not really a fan of body butter, but this sounds lovely!
I love The Body Shop! They have some of the best products. I haven't tried this one yet, but I'll put it on my list.

I have been guilty of using this on myself as well..alot! I did try it on the boys a couple times and it made them softer, but my boys are so soft already that they don't need it right now, me on the other hand...well, winter is apon us and I need some moisture, and this stuff is amazing!!! It smells great, but not too strong, and it has a baby powder smell that I adore! Love, love this body butter, and its not greasy, like some body butters I have tried. My only problem is that it should come in adult formula too, they would sell more that way ;)....
I loved any body butter from The Body shop! when I was prego, I rubbed every different kind of butter on my belly to prevent stretch marks! I love that is thick, but not really greasy! The Buriti Baby Body Butter is fantastic for Cole! With the winter season finally here, his skin gets very dry! The butter fixes that problem right away! The smell is soft! Not overwhelming! I have used it on myself and love it! I like the idea of a thicker cream, rather than something runny! I would recommend this product to anyone with kids! I would love to try the whole line on Cole and myself!
I LOVE the body shop's products, especially the body butters. I have two big jars in mango and strawberry which I am in loooove with. It keeps my hands so mosturized especially in the winter time.
I love body butters. Although I go through them so fast :( it gets expensive.
Normally I don't like to put on lotion that feels greasy or heavy but these body butters are AMAZING. They glide on nicely and feel rich and moisturizing on my skin. My favorite scent is Satsuma. I absolutely love it. I recently just finished my tub of it so I will be getting a new one soon :)
I love going into the Body Shop and trying all the butters and lip products. They have such great varieties! I have not purchased many of them for myself because I have an aunt who frequently gives the sets as gifts. When I go home to the winter for Christmas my skin will probably spaz out and go dry and flaky. I usually pick up some Palmer's coco butter to deal with that, maybe this year I will try a Body Shop butter.
I love the body shop! I really like the body butters, they moisterize VERY well and people around always notice the scent. I actually used to work for one of their stores and I just couldnt resist the yummy smells! They have so many different ones and the cranberry that they get for christmas smells amazing.
I really love the consistency and the aroma of the body butters, but I just hate packaging like this. I think I'm just lazy and need a pump!
I have some body shop butters but sometimes the scent is too much. I like the plain shea butter. I have the cranberry one too, too strong for me and it just sits in my bathroom. I got a butter from crabtree and evelyn and after applying some I tried to make breakfast and EVERYTHING kept slipping out of my hads. It was pretty funny.

I have only used one or two body butters, and I HATED them. They always feel really greasy and nasty. I might try this one, because if it changed your mind - maybe it can change mine!
Let's all enjoy the Summer sunshine!
Ohhh interesting! I havent bought anything from The body shop in YEARS! i used to find their body butter way too greasy and gross.I may have a wonder in there this Xmas shopping trip though!
Mmm body butter, love these products, they always smells nice! That reminds me, I received a sample from them, I need to find it.
i am addicted to a brazilian product that i can only find in Newark, NJ. it is a totally organic line called "Natura Ekos"... i use their bath oil in the "Buriti" scent and i LOVE it! i can't wait to try this product, i've never before seen any other buriti products!
