TEA TREE RUNS SUPREME-BUT NOW I'M HEARING A LOT OF JOJOBA CHATTER? WHAT OIL REIGNS IN YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE?
Meg here! Stylemama may be responsible for a world surge in the spike of sales of tea tree oil. Her praises on it run from it growing your hair to clearing up a zit in no time flat.
Jojoba oil is another essential that seems to be closing in at a close second. From reading the Magic Of Aloe review, it seems as though quite a few of you use it to remove makeup at night.
I've been reading up and really trying to educate myself on the different properties. From Bergamont to Vetivert-there's a whole holistic world out there!
Before I forget! Here's the ingredients (you have until Friday if you want to do it with us) to add to your grocery store list!
LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL
ALMOND OIL
MARJORAM ESSENTIAL OIL
CLARY SAGE ESSENTIAL OIL
2 OUNCE GLASS BOTTLE
Whole Foods should have everything above. I found some pretty blue empty glass bottles for pretty inexpensive in the essential oil section.
We've learned about the benefits of how relaxing and soothing lavender is but what are the benefits of these newbies?
Almond Oil's benefits: Improves complexion and retains glow, Moisturises better and deeper, Soothes skin irritation and inflammation, Delays ageing process,Lightens dark circles,Relieves dry and itching skin ,Nourishes the skin. Makes it smooth and soft. What it does for the hair is amazing! Nourishes hair and smoothes hair cuticles, Makes hair long, strong and thick,Massaging with almond oil adds shine to the hair Controls hair fall. Almond Oil is chock full of Vitamin E and has a bunch of Vitamin D in it so we'll be using this ingredient a lot! Hair issues? This works great rubbed nightly into the scalp!
Marjoram Essential Oil is helpful in curing nearly all types of spasms and resultant problems. It efficiently relieves spasm in respiratory system, intestines and muscular spasms in limbs. It also helps cure convulsions, muscle pulls, cramps and spasmodic cholera which are caused due to spasms. Marjoram Essential Oil can efficiently handle gas trouble. It gives the gases a safe downward passage by relaxing the muscles in the abdominal region as well as also stops further gas formation. This help you get rid of a number of related problems such as indigestion, nausea, vomiting, stomachache, chest pain, hypertension and flatulence. Helps cure headache, sinusitis, cold, bronchitis, asthma, stress and insomnia, pain in muscles and joints and fatigue. So if you have any digestive or cramp issues-maybe handy to keep this around!
Clary Sage-Can be used against addiction (particularly drug addicts) and for inducing a desire for a positive way of life and to treat back aches, joint pain, regulate excess sebum production etc. It also eases labor and reduces labor pain. It is particularly good for treating symptoms associated with Post Menopause Syndrome. It also reduces stress and promotes tranquility and helps alleviate depression. Bad PMS? Awful periods? Grab some clary sage on your next outing!
I'm glad for my own personal knowledge that we've added this feature. It is definitely interesting and I've always wondered about the value of aromatherapy. Please, all I need to do is rub lavender in my temples and..Oh wait! It does work.
The holidays are such a traumatic time of year. That should be the song "It's the most traumatic time of the year." Can't you hear that being piped through the Bloomingdales after you've just fought for a parking spot within 5 miles of the entrance?
After spending all of your money on festivities there may not be much left over for a spa day but look at you! You did it all by yourself! If I can do it then a slow monkey can so no excuse ladies!!
Let me know your secret holistic weapon? What oil or herb can you just not be without (ok stoner's we don't need to know about that favorite herb.) Or do we?

I am a card carrying member of the TEA TREE FAN CLUB!! I love that stuff. However, I can imagine by the end of the year I will have quite a collection of essential oils.Keep the recipes coming!
The only oil I really use is Jason's Vitamin E, which I think is already a blend. I've never tried individual essential oils or mixing my own concoctions, but I really need to!
think im gonna have to invest in some almond oil
Same here, my hair really needs it.

I like lavendar, for its fragrence and its benefits. I also really like the smell of geranium and clary sage.
i love tea tree oil! if i'm looking for a cleanser or a treatment i awlays look out for those that contain tea tree oil. my skin feels a lot more environmentally friendly when i'm using it lol.

I'm a big fan of products with lavenderr oil. It's good for all skin types because it balances and calms the skin. Too much oil? Normal skin? Too dry? It works for all...it's also super fantastic on combination skin because it will adapt to balance it all out without irritating.Tea tree is a love/hate for me. I do like the way it can stop a zit right in its tracks...but it's almost a little too much for my sensitive skin at times. I always keep some products on hand with tea tree just for those bad skin freak-outs, but I use it sparingly...I do know that it has helped a LOT of people. My favorite smell, however, is bergamont. I'm a sucker for ANY bath or shower product with it in there. It smells good mixed with anything! It's just a matter of finding what works best for each individual. Rock on, my essential oil loving ladies..
I have to try that!
Well I've been using coconut oil for a deep conditioning hair treatment for a few week's now in a desperate bid to grow out my hair, then shampoo out in the morning. The only thing is coconut oil is solid at room temp so I always have to melt it.Jojoba oil does seem to crop up a lot as a carrier oil in receipes its supposed to be slightly more expensive but the best.Their are loads of oil's that I havent yet tried like avocado and apricot kernal as bases and really want to get some borage and argan as they seem to pop up a lot in facial care products.Manuka oil smells horrible but really works as an antiseptic -on acne etc.

I have to head to Whole Foods for my turkey on Wednesday so I am going to pick up some Marjoram Oil because when I am stressed my stomach acts up and then I am stressed out and in pain. I am not rubbing almond oil into my hair at night because I don't shampoo first thing in the morning. I would like to know if it is effective from the other ladies.
def. will have to try some of these....i'm assuming they're each to be used individually....aromatherapy & ess.oils/ holistic health are areas that i definitely would love to learn more about....i guess its time to get out there & try some oils :) can't wait to hear what else you ladies love!

I really like coconut oil so far, I'm not really big into oils (messy if you ask me lol) but I may have to look into almond oil and stuff. I did have a massage with essential lavender oil and omg it was so relaxing.
I've been using tto for aaages love it, and i actually like the smell too. I just got my order in from Garden of Wisdom. Got a 3 oils sample pack especially light oils for my oily skin- weird to think the putting oil on a wet face can make one less oily but it is true. it locks in the moisture. I havent tried the oils yet but they are : baobab oil, camelia oil, kakui oil.Cant wait to try em!!! will give updates
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
Ahhhhh, Tea Tree Oil, my one true love. It never lets me down, hurts my feelings or forgets the important stuff..... Oh wait, are we still talking about TTO???? I've learned that essential oils are so amazing! We are wise to learn more about their healing properties and many uses-great addition to the site. You genius girl you! As far as the holidays go, if more people did discuss the stress and trauma that often envelopes the season maybe it wouldn't be quite so difficult. Ya know? Thanks for bringing it up.
To be honest, I haven't met an oil I (or should I say, my skin) didn't love. Jojoba is wonderfully moisturizing, TTO is great for fighting TTOMT breakouts, almond oil is super relaxing, olive+castor removes my mu effortlessly and cleanses my skin.. my favorite would have to be Vitamin E, though. It's seriously a wonder oil. I use it as a moisturizer, as an after-shave 'lotion' to keep my super sensitive skin from getting irritated (also makes my legs baby soft), under my arms after using my epilator to calm the skin.. it can do no wrong. The thing that amazed me most; I brought it with me when my fiance and I went to Daytona Beach this past spring. Even after slathering ourselves in sunblock, we still both got a bit burnt (him on his back and me right around the edges of my bikini top; lesson learned to apply the block under the suit as well). I rubbed the oil onto my chest and not only was there no pain whatsoever, but the redness had totally subsided by the next day and faded into a subtle glow! Usually after a burn I look like a lobster for weeks (a cruel boss at an old job gave me a nametag which read 'Big Red' after a burn years back). Fiance on the other hand, didn't want any oil.. and he was hurting pretty bad until he finally gave in and let me put some on him, lol. :P
Oh, and I have to say that now I need to look into Clary Sage oil.. TTOTM is pretty torturous, and coincidentally, just started. I'd rather not be a hell-beast when I go to visit my family for Thanksgiving.
I use castor oil and olive oil to deep cleanse my face once a week. I've also used virgin coconut oil before. I think I might just have to invest in that almond oil for my hair!
I'm allergic to TTO, but this was really informative! I'm a member of the jojoba club who's looking to branch out, so this is great. Thanks!
I am a huge fan of tea tree, for a burn or any type of skin issue it is GREAT. I have tried lots of the above mentioned oils and essential oils, they all work well. Lemon Balm is great, not exactly an oil, but, get a little squeeze bottle in the vitamin and herb section of whole foods, a few drops in H2O and your stomach is calm and good-bye nausea. Also, the company Fresh has a Cannabis and Rose lotion, it is good for the skin, not just the rose but the cannabis too. That is for you Meg, a different way to use cannabis then smoking or tincture drops, which, by the way, is also a cure for a tummy ache. LOL
I don't use anything like this, definitely not essential oils, but you guys are making me feel like I seriously need to check them out!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you ladies are "cooking" up this week :)
Ladies, thanks for all of the insight! You may want to explore Arbonne's Intelligence line of daily self-adjusting shampoo w/tto along with thermal fusion hair and scalp revitalizer. This is truly amazing with highly effective results, bottom line that's what we are looking for. They include vitasperes, tea tree, peppermint oils, licorice, rosemary, and sage extracts. Also, saw palmetto, horsetail, yucca extracts as well as vegetable protein and vitamins A C and E. My hair, although healthy, always looked dull, brassy, and lifeless. After trying this, I couldn't believe how thick and luxurious it became and with beautiful shine. I think it's the water that destroys my hair, too much chlorine and other chemicals. Anyway, it's something to consider. Cool thing about Arbonne is there are no chemicals, mineral oil, alcohol, animal biproducts and other stuff that causes irritation to the skin or hair in the first place. We are exposed to so many environmental elements already, I'll do anything to lengthen my life span. Organic is the way to go if you care at all about your body.Lety;)www.dreamfreespirit.myarbonne.com "the only time you should look down on someone is when you're reaching down and giving them a helping hand"
I use Tea Tree Oil. It works so well to keep my skin oil-free. And it helps heal scars on my face and stuff. The only one downside is that it smells pretty bad.
http://www.rescueremedy.com/My Mom gave me "Yoga in a Bottle" and believ me,it works!!!Looking forward to my girls in the kitchen yet again!!! :)
thanks for the article! (:
One of my favorite things in my skin care regimen is the Oil Cleansing Method. I use a mix of Castor Oil and Grapeseed Oil to cleanse my face twice a week...It's great at breaking up clogged pores and nasty blackheads on my nose. Like hrhtracey stated, my skin hasnt met an oil it didnt love!
I've only tried Jason's Vitamin E oil which already has many oils in it, and I love it! I really want to try sweet almond oil or avocado oil because I've heard a lot of good things about it. I've used Vit E oil for well over a month now and my skin has improved a lot. :)
I use both jojoba oil & tea tree oil in my every day regimen. My face wash has tea tree oil in it, and I also have a few drops in my toner. If I have a blemish that needs serious help, I apply tea tree oil directly to the blemish and it clears up like magic. I use jojoba oil as a moisturizer on my face and body, and also in my hair. I apply a few drops to my hair before blow drying (or air drying) and apply another few drops as a finishing serum (works wonders). Just be careful not to use too much or you'll look like you haven't washed your hair in weeks :) I couldn't live without either of these products, and look forward to adding more essential oils into my routine. I just recently took an aromatherapy class and I am going crazy trying to figure out what to try next; there are so many great oils that are amazing for both your hair & skin.
I use Jasons Vit E oil and jojoba oil. I love how soft they can make your skin.I can't wait to see that you will be coming up with this week.

I am a follower of stylemama and the tea tree oil! My husband is in line right behind me. he gets dry patches on his nose, so I got the tea tree oil out and viola, the dry patch was gone and he was a happy camper! When ever he is having a break-out he says "Honey, can you get that miracle oil and do a treatment on me". I am really enjoying this new feature on Megs.
I love using oils on my skin. Right now I'm loving my coconut oil but I also love almond oil. The Jason vitamin E oil blend is another favourite as well as one from a Canadian company called Rocky Mountain Soaps.
Tea tree oil is great, but for my hair, Jojoba oil is probably the best, I like to mix some with conditioner when I have time to let it really soak in, and I use some as a leave-in conditioner when my hair is really dry.
I love the way some of these oil smell
I use tea tree oil, sweet almond oil, and just about every essential oil made. I have over 50 oils along with dozens of books on making soaps and bath products.. I am into aromatherapy and am always making diffusers for various rooms or put a few drops or a combination in my diffuser that has a tea candle. I have candle warming pads that I put water and essential oils in decorative bottle on. I love scents and have a very delicate sense of smell. I can spot certain smells at a 100 paces! For pretty bottles and containers to put handmade bath salts/sugar scrubs, etc, I go to the thrift stores. Amazing what you find there for 5 to 10 pennies.
some great tips! I will be buying these today when i go shopping-i am looking forward to the almond oil!

this is great, i've never tried any specific herb or oil, i always burn oil with candles, but i definitely have to try this as well!
i loove that picture!! This isnt a oil idea..BUT if you get the little lavender buds and sew them into a little fabric packet and slide it in your pillow case you get the amazing smell of lavender when you lay your head down.. LOOVE IT!
I've use Tree Oil before, mostly in hair products. I can't stand the smell.

Every week I apply to my face a green clay mask. It`s great for oily skin, it cleans and leaves the skin soft and matt.Another advantage is that it isn`t expensive.
I definitally cant live without lavender. I love it!! I even have a beautiful lavender tattoo! However its beauty uses are limited. I havnt tried alot of other opils but IM excited for all our little experiments!
Tan is Love
I definately can't live without my tea tree oil here! I have used it for years on EVERYTHING! Scrapes, ear infections you get from cheap earrings, pimples, disinfecting stuff - the list goes on. This sounds fun, but I have zero time to get out and purchase this before Friday! :(
tea tree oil is great. I've heard so many people complain about the smell but its not so bad i just try to ignore it
I apply tea tree as a spot treatment for pimples.I swap it up between extra virgin olive oil and jojoba oil to remove makeup and use as a night time moisturiser. Jojoba is a little more drying than the olive.Love lavendar, a few drops on the pillow before bed if im stressed or have a headache sometimes helps.
I can't say I have a favorite oil. I use tea tree oil for pimples and Moo Goo cleansing oil. I love coconut oil as an in shower moisturiser too.

I don't use EOs in my beauty routine, but I do use Tea Tree oil in my cleaning routine...I use this homemade cleanser with TTO and other nontoxic ingredients (water, vinegar, Borax, castile soap) and it is the BEST. It cleans and disinfects and since I've got animals, I don't like to use harsh cleaners, and now I don't have to.
I've never tried any essential oil combinations or anything, but I do use vitamin E capsules and break them open to put on my acne scars. I just started this, so I can't tell any progress yet, but I'll keep everyone posted!
So far I have been using Jasons Vitamin E oil, and I use it for my face, and I mix it with my lotion for all over my body. It makes my skin feel so smooth.I might have to invest in some Almond Oil though, because my hair is very VERY thin, and falling out all the time. I refuse to leave my hair down because its so thin that it just falls flat against my head. Thanks for these great tips!
Whoops! Double post.HOWEVER, I ran to iherb.com and just placed an order for tea tree oil, and sweet almond oil =)I love you ladies!!!!
I loveJason E natural oilJojoba OilMoroccan oilCoconut OilThey're perfect for hair and body
I have used Rose hip oil as a serum on my face for the past year and I have to say my skin has never looked or felt more plump, filled out and generally smooth and glowy! It works a treat for tired skin and can even be a great primer for make-up. Ensure you get the 100% organic variety!
WOW! Lots of great info! Now my question is how do I use these essential oils?I mean of the ones you highlight here, how do I use? I've read essential oils out of the bottle can be very irritating. But I'm so curious. 'How can I get all this goodness in me?'
