POP BEAUTY "LITTLE BLACK DRESS" PALETTE! BEAUTYTICKET.COM WE LOVE YOU HOW YOU SPOIL US FOR PENNIES!
Gigi here! I began to sketch at the age of four using pencils and then colored pencils and graduated to paints--watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Painting is not something I can handle well right now but am trusting that I will once again take up pigments and tools. Seeing makeup displays whips me into a frenzy, makes my heart pound, and foam at the mouth. I feel so sorry for men, as the poor things don't get to "play" as we do. I would make a terrible man.
In first grade, I was using my crayons to draw women. I don't imitate the work of others but merely create what I see in life and in my head. So the ladies I drew in art class at age six were very different from the other children's renderings--they had shadows where their busts would be and weren't stick figures. I recall drawing one woman in a vivid red sweater, bosom and all, and being the object of wrath from our nun. She bellowed, "Gigi Marie Sommers! What is wrong with you? Do you want to go to hell for this sinful work? I thought you were a good girl. Hurry up and try to erase those bumps before the priest comes. And red, of all colors! You shame me!" I hurriedly did as she asked, as I didn't want to risk Eternity over artwork.
Thus began my love affair with color and addiction to palettes. I flaunted crimson, fuschia, emerald, and jewel tones in my work. My paintings became as vibrant as Picasso's, but I placed facial features and body parts where they really belong rather than askew. The piteous man makes me sad, as he must have needed reading glasses more than I do.
I kept my promise and veered away from palettes for awhile, but I am going to burst with excitement. Our Meg knows her makeup! She alerted us to the fifteen percent discount on gifts and sets at Beauty Ticket, and I purchase quite often from them. If you haven't shopped at Beauty Ticket, please do so. They have an amazing array of new trends in gorgeous makeup, skin care, and implements to turn the ugliest duckling into a stunning swan (that does not apply to you--you ladies are already sparkling swans), at prices so low that you feel that you're shoplifting, not shopping. When I check out and receive a plethora for little, I look over my shoulder. Yes, that was the actual low total, which would be quadrupled elsewhere!
I learned a hard lesson recently. I was running late, had little time to primp, and forgot the cosmetic case I was to use in the car as my husband drove. What--no makeup? I wasn't even as attractive as Conan O'Brien and gained many stares from people I knew even though I actually pinched my cheeks and bit my lips in the restroom. Their expressions told me what they thought: "Gigi, is that really you?" Thus I promised myself that I would find a small "contains all" kit to toss into my purse, but I never knew it could be so excellent. What did I buy? Pop Beauty's Little Black Dress Palette which includes fifteen products and closes magnetically for only $14.00 before the fifteen-cent discount on sets (still in effect this week). Beauty Ticket will be used as a cyber drugstore to warrant my journey there. I couldn't find a better deal in a drugstore! Heck, I couldn't feel a better deal anywhere!
There are twelve eye shadows which take you easily from daytime to playtime and you will smolder if you wish (come on, you know you want to and so embrace your inner vamp, the siren begging to get out). The colors are variations of black/silver, deep violet, Merlot (knew that would get your attention), and a funky grey-olive which is incredibly unique. There are basic colors for your lid, deep ones for contouring and lining, and ones to highlight. Those surprised me, as they have a bit of opalescence to wow (hint: put just a dab of one of the lightest shades right above your pupil for a wide-awake look). You know the drill: Keep the applicator for on-the-go trips but use brushes when applying at home.
This little wonder also includes gossamer-sheer face powder and a soulful blush with some subtle sheen in a tone which works for all. Top it offer with a gentle shimmering pink/coral gloss and you are definitely good to go, no tacky feel, just luscious lips! Thank you, Beauty Ticket, for offering this palette and making it affordable for everyone. I don't do well living in black and white as in the flick "Pleasantville." Oh, I'm also wearing a low-cut red sweater as I work because I do indeed have a bust. Sadly, I wouldn't need to do much shading to call attention to it. That's what I get for sinning!

I'm really loving Pop cosmetics! I got a few of their eyeshadow palettes at beautycrunch for a really good price. I love their all in one palettes! soo convenient.
I love your story, it totally reminds me of my nine long years in Catholic schools. Sister Perpetua, told our class if we french kissed OR used tampons we would lose our viginity. So I guess most the girls in my 5th grade class lost their virginity playing spin-the-bottle. I think I might be sent to Purgatory first, where Sister Perpetua will decide if my elevator goes up or down. Thanks for the review!

Beauty ticket has AWESOME deals. They work very hard at GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Between customer service and prices this is where I will be playing santa and getting stocking stuffers!!
Gigi, You need to write books! It's no wonder you started out drawing detailed photos of people. Last week, Harrison's Kindergarten Art Teacher came to me and whispered, "You need to get a athletic bra!" Right away thoughts started going through my head...She continued, "Your son drew the biggest -----!" "Oh my gosh," I said very embarrassed. "Were they hanging down?" "Nope, she smiled.....They were pointing up and you won't need a ---- lift for years!" Anyway your story made me laugh and think of this funny story I had to share. As for the Pop colors with magnetic box, I will have to go take a look. May be a great gift for some of my girlie friends for Christmas.

Cool Thanks for the heads up!

I love palettes. I have wanted to get this palette for a while, but wasn't sure. This looks like a must have, throw in your purse, palette. I too have a story of childhood artwork gone awry. When I was a wee lad I really loved Mrs. Piggy. Well one day, I was about 4, I drew Mrs. Piggy. I drew her very well for my age and lack of artistic ability. But I also drew a very womenly part on her. I don't know what I was thinking when I drew it, but I drew it. I drew a huge pink vagina on Mrs. Piggy. I guess I must have really been emphasizing the fact that she was a girl and that she had feminine power. But my parents laughed when I told them what it was. To this day my mom will tell people about the little mrs. piggy and her vagina I drew so long ago. lol.
What a great idea, and so cheap! I love the idea of a palette that contains everything I'd need.

Gigi, you're a brilliant writer! I wonder if those nuns saw you today, they'd be horrified! Haha!I absolutely love palettes like this. Sometimes it's just too taxing to scour your bags and kits to find everything you need while you're in a hurry to get made up. Palettes are really a great steal too!
Great read. You feel the way about art, it seems, as I do about writing! In 1st grade I had a teacher call my parents up to react to a poem and drawing I did as a class assignment (not in a negative way like your nun). We all have out passions and talents--they should be nurtured so I encourage you to make your art! And love you for the tip on this palette!

I've always loved paints too. Especially water colour. And like you, I did draw rather realistic figures at a young age unlike my classmates that hung into the round head, triangle or rectangle body, with sticks for arms and legs for quite a while. Thankfully, I had no nun to shock. Or perhaps that would have been great fun? Hm... Anyhow, thanks for the heads up. I don't know how many times I've left the house without one of my essentials, like blush, so a kit for the bag would be a good thing. Though probably it would end up in my drawer, since that is usually where I put on my make-up.
I loved when everyone started turning to color in "Pleasantville". What a great movie and Reese Witherspoon looked awesome. I would love to bring out my inner vixen ala 50-60's style. This looks like just the thing I need to get started. The colors look so amazing and there are some in there that you wouldn't even think of twice if they weren't in such a fab looking palette. Thank you Gigi for such a great review. Next week is my major shopping week for Christmas and I know one of my stops is beautyticket.com. For the ladies in my life and for me. It's not a crime if I stuff something in my own stocking is it? LOL.
I love beauty ticket those shadows are beautiful
I love Beautyticket.com and I order from them all the time!! They have the best deals on Smashbox items and YSL. I will have to check out the Little Black Dress Palette
I hate to admit but I put on my makeup when i drive to work! So, my makeup bag lives in my car. There are so many times I am with my husband and realize ug, I forgot my makeup. This little palette would be perfect to stash in his glove compartment for those emergencies!
I've never bought a palette, I like choosing my eyeshadows and things individually. I can, however, say that beautyticket.com is a very good website! I've bought quite a few things from them recently and am always amazed at the great deal and the low shipping cost. Oh, and the item is usually at my door in 3 days or less. Can't beat that!

I knew you'd love this one, Gigi, what with your palette-loving soul and all. It is a great bargain and a great tool.
This would be a perfect gift for anyone including one's own self! Perfect neutrals and I only buy palettes IF they are usable!:) I think this looks like a steal of a deal girl!So you were drawing MOI??? LOLROF! Those nuns did muck us up,huh? We'd have school dances and they would patrol the floor shoving couples apart as they told them to "Leave room for the Holy Ghost..."Somehow we managed, right! :)
I shopped at Beauty TIcket for the first time last week because we are moving and before my husband packed my computer I wanted to make sure I had not missed a single bargain. We moved 4 miles so you know the DT's could have done me in during the 18 hours I had no computer access. Except from my iphone. Or my husband's laptop. Well, I don't owe anyone an explanation: I WANTED TO SHOP. Very quick shipping, brand new products and a great place to buy once pricey gift sets (for myself)for a song. And now, Gigi, we must talk. I LOVE makeup palettes. Such a great idea for travel, work, touch-ups at a party, etc. Except when you own at least 20 of them (probably way more, who am I kidding) and want to pack, travel, party with all of them. And I am a fitness instructor. My AM makeup routine is tinted moisturizer and under eye cover. I have an unopened box of goodies from Sephora that is serving as a prop for my reading light on my nightstand until I found the light that really goes there. It is probably in the box marked garage tools. Because the box marked "laundry" had absolutely nothing to do with laundry.
Great story!! I love beautyticket, sadly its blocked at work so I'll have to order wthis when I get home.
It looks like a perfect Christmas present!
I've ordered from beautyticket several times. The products are great and they always ship quickly.
I didn't need nuns to scare me...I had a grandmother who told me all men just want to rape you so stay away from them. How's THAT for sinning dysfunction. Ahhh therapy...how I needed you.I'm a palette lover for a very strange reason...I just LOVE to look at them. I have palettes I will buy just because they are SO pretty then I end up giving them away. Not so with my Cats Cosmetics Hello Gorgeous. You'll have to pry that from my cold dead hands. But I swear I'm addicted to buying palettes just to have them in my possession. Sick I know. This is a great palette though that covers all angles and I'd venture to say no on would be caught off guard without it!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I have a Pop Beauty palette and love it! I also love Beauty Ticket!!
There were a couple of nuns left at our school too,if anyone was caught taking to a boy over the wall she would be like"move out move out".One was so dedicated she would stand on a ladder all lunch time looking over the wall to see if anyone was sneaking down town and she even started going to the local niteclub at night to try and go in and drag anyone underage out but the bouncers wouldn't let her in-phew!!!.I've got some hard candy and urban decay palettes and like this all the colours are so wearable .I've got the teeniest palette of lipglosses from urban decay called feisty kitten-its only the size and hardly any thicker than a credit card and doesnt ruin the line of any clothes.I got an e-mail from beauty ticket yesterday about all their new product's,the prices are unreal, there's something for everyone and$26.95 flat rate international shipping-now the only problem is narrowing down the choices.

I LOVE palettes, they're so easy and convenient. I always throw mine (I have three- one pressed from UD, and one pressed and one loose from EM, all e/s) in my purse when I go out, and they're the best things for car application. This one's only $15, and you can do a full face with it?? Definitely need to head over to Beautyticket to check it out. Then again, you drew me in with talk of sketching and painting and vibrant colors alone, lol. I've had a love of art and color from before I could really talk, and now I have an urge to bust out some paints.
i love palettes too so handy.. could be doing with some actually as I don't really have many.. some cover girl ones but the lid came off so that isn't too handy is it. Think i better look at beauty ticket right now! thanks me loverly ladies...ooh and a free gift with a purchase over 35$ wow cool!
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
aaaw! Love the name of the product (:It already gets my attention.thanks for the tip on the website (:As soooon as I get a job (which will hopefully be soon!) I'll be sure to start ringing up a bill ;D
OMG celebrate!! I just splurged and made my first ever beauty ticket purchase!! I was checking out the website and saw the 15 percent off of gift sets so I checked them out and HOLY GRAIL OF MAKEUP!!! they had SO many FABULOUS NEW gift sets!! Of corse... theyre not a gift *blushes* theyre for me!! I got one of the POP beauty clutches with all the different eyeshadows. This one had pastels on one side and beautifull vibrant colors on the other. And I also got a Stila set that has mascara lip glase eyeshadow and a convertible color!!So excited to get them!! I havnt tried any products from either brand yet! so this is new and exciting! Plus ive seen the reviews on the convertible color! lolBeauty ticket! You rock!!! Oh yes and I was tempted to buy this little black dress, but then I saw the other set and had to get that one instead!
Tan is Love
Pop are great! Their colours are strong and very pigmented and they go on smooth. Love, love, love!
This looks so cute and handy, I really want to get it but I feel bad buying stuff for myself right before Christmas! Sooo, maybe I'll get it for christmas :)
These colors are so pretty. I have never been a palette person, but this one actually looks like something usable. Thanks for the funny story. Takes me back to my many years of Catholic school. :-)
I've said before how there are not too many palettes I like, they always have weird colour combos, but this one looks gorgeous! I truck my entire makeup case around with me just in case I want a colour that might be left at home, and this palette seems to have a great mix of colours. You could go away on vacation and take only this plus your foundation. I have never seen this brand, are they online only? I would like to take a look at their products but do not like purchasing online if I can avoid it.
OMG!! I just got my latest order from Beautyticket and this was one of the things I ordered!!! I am on a palette kick lately, and this was among the 7 or so I purchased! AND, there is a coupon that runs now through December 15, the code is "gifts15", and I got an extra 15 % off all sets and kits I ordered.
Gigi honey, you crack me up :P I just love reading your hilarious reviews--what a fantastic sense of humor. I actually have never really been a fan of palettes--especially not ones with lipgloss/lipstick pans in them. And I can't usually find an all in one palette, so I just make do with a handful of must have products thrown into my purse! My favorite eyeshadow palettes: Cargo Hands of Hope (great if you like bright colors. the pan size is larger than MAC, close to Stila's, so it's a GREAT deal), and my Cargo Essential palette. If I had to have an emergency kit, I'd probably go for Cargo's 7 in 7 set (ok, I know this sounds like a Cargo commercial, and I honestly despise their lipgloss with the little expiration strip, but the 7 in 7 kit is a fantastic deal and it has everything you need! for $59! You'd be hard pressed to get that many decent items at the drugstore)!

This palette looks stunning. Not only for me, but great holiday gifts. Are they long lasting? Did you need a primer?

Haha. I love the nun stories. My little sister is becoming a Benedictine sister and teaches at a Catholic school....she is one of the funniest people I know. I bet her students love her. She definately does not share my love of makeup though! This palette has such a great variety of colors to throw in yr bag and have on hand. I have never tried any of the Pop shadows. The price seems to good to be true.
oh yah i LOVE Beauty Ticket and am totally coveting Pop Beauty's Glitter stix!
What a cute palette! I am so in love with them, it makes my life so much easier to coordinate
You naughty girl. LOL! I'm definately going to need to try this one out. I love things that you get tons of products for cheap in. (WIth the exception of those special kits during the holidays at Walmart. Those are not of a good quality!)
*~*AMY RENEE*~*When life hands me lemons, I'm opting for lemon pound cake!
Oh wow...Those colors are so pretty and look like absolutely anyone could pull them off. Looks like it would be a killer gift too--great timing!
Beauty Ticket is a great site! I love being able to get discounts on high end products. =D

Great story Gigi.I have always loved art & vivid colors. Sadly, I was not blessed with that talent.I love Beautyticket. They have the best prices. This palette looks awesome. I love the way they have included everything you'd need, in case you rush out of the house with no makeup on. :vO

Gigi I love you so much, lady! This sounds like a perfect steal and has such an amazing amount of product for such a little price! I have a Pop Beauty Work to Play palette that cost me AU$80, and this looks highly comparable at US$14!! I couldn't help but flinch at the comments your ghastly nun teachers made when you were little! They should have encouraged and nurtured your natural gift. And who says that having a bust or wearing red is evil?! I'll never understand that kind of mentality! Thank goodness you rose above all of that negativity and became the precious woman you are today. ♥
Gigi, I just wish I could have seen the look on Sister's face when she checked out your drawing of the lady with the "bumps"! You bring back so many similar memories of my early education...Anyway, I have the pop smoky eyeshadow palette that a lovely friend sent me - and it's amazing. I'm crazy about eyeshadow and oh my, they are wonderful. I love love love palettes both for the coordination factor (my color theory knowledge leaves a bit to be desired) and for the convenience of packing light. My latest one is TwoFaced Gorgeous to Go (or something like that)... it's not in my hand at the moment. But I recently read somewhere (maybe here?) about creating your own palette using one of those pill cases, marked with the days of the week. Put a little of this and a little of that in the compartments. So if I ever can't afford a palette, I have a plan to still provide for my needs. :-)
