GETTING TO KNOW DANDY! SPOTLIGHT ON DANA!

Name: Dana
Age: 34
Vocation: Art Teacher and Artist
What is in your purse? Well in my purse I have a Boots no 7 lipstick in a lovely Coral color called Coral Dream, an Everyday Minerals lipstick called Siesta, but these act more like balms though (I think). I have an Everyday Minerals puff Jar with some rice powder in it. I get very oily skin, so this helps a bit. I have an Everyday Minerals Retractable Kabuki too, love it! Because I live in FL I always carry some spf so I also have Aveeno positively radiant moisturizer with an spf of 30 and some Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock spf 55. Some Purell hand sanitizer, just in case. Ooh a no7 Pefect Lips pencil (it was hiding in there) in nude... sometimes I outline my lips to make them bigger, yet to find the perfect nude though, or one that will stay on me. Some Avon Glazewear color- Sand Shine. It is a nice gloss nude color. Other non makeup things: my new free phone from ATT - it's kinda nice, jealous of y'all iphoners though. Sharpie - everyone needs a sharpie! Toothpaste from my Virgin flight, so cute and teeny and a bunch of scrumpled up receipts... ie big mess.
Guilty Pleasure: Definitely makeup and makeup forums! My boyfriend teases me so much and calls me 'makeup girl' which I'm not! Haha! I hate being called girly for some reason, but then the thing is I pretty much am girly, I should embrace it really.
Skin color, type and any special skin concerns: I have lightish skin- beige fairly light in Everyday Minerals- currently looking at other minerals lines too since I have been kinda breaking out in bumps from EDM. I know, very sad :( Also I am so oily!!! Don't know what to do about it.
Beauty inspiration: Audrey Hepburn, just gorgeous. But I love love love watching Pixiwoo on youtube!!! Those girls are lovely and some great tips on there plus they are from the UK and I miss home so much and it reminds me of home. (I now live in Florida but was born and bred in Scotland)
Top 3 skincare products:
- Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser- I keep going back to this, not a pretty bottle but oh well, it works good for me.
- Paula's Choice BHA lotion - good for a little exfoliating and getting rid of blackheads some.
- Oil of Olay Complete spf 30 - I need spf in Florida, it is hot here, even right now in the Winter!
Top 3 tools of the trade:
- My Everyday Mineral Brushes- so soft and the best brushes I have owned so far! I have all the Kabukis which are so lovely and many of the eyeshadow ones... love love love them!
- Is mascara a tool? Well anyways I love trying out different mascaras so far my favorite is Max Factor 2000 Calorie as it is one of the few ones that doesn't smudge on my oily lids! euh gross!
Best beauty secret / tip: Keep qtips handy- especially great for cleaning up mascara from my browbone... I always do that by mistake and one of the pixiwoo tips was to look down into a mirror when you do your mascara, it works but I still forget to do that.
Three current beauty products you'd like to buy:
- I really am goggling the shu uemura eyelash curlers... kinda pricey for me - and my old Boots ones work ok, but everyone raves about these so much.
- I'd like some Signature Minerals foundation... see if it works for my skin any better than Everyday Minerals. It is hard because I am so oily and minerals kinda slip off a little after a while. In fact, I think I will put in an order right now... teehee!
- Urban Decay eyeshadows. There is one in particular I have been goggling with green eyes, (I have blue eyes actually but still...) and that is the half baked and baked colors. Don't you think they would suit blue eyes? They are just a little expensive for me right now, but one day I will splurge. I love testing them out at Boots... LOVE Boots, ahh I miss home sigh.
Great to get to know you Dana! Love your Halloween picture!
And what an awesome mascara application tip! It's also really funny how your boyfriend teases you about your makeup and makeup forum addiction! Any other ladies out there being teased?

Dana, you're so lovely! Your Halloween picture is adorable! Also, being an art teacher would be amazing. :D I'm teased by my boy for being girly as well but I just laugh. It's a huge hobby of mine and he lets me rabbit on and on about this and that, so his gentle ribbing doesn't worry me toooo much. Re: your oily skin and problems with EDM, maybe try what I've been using - Coastal Scents [http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm]. I have oily skin and I use these with great results. I find I don't have to use blot powder nearly as much as when I was using non-mineral stuff. I still do every now and then to combat shine on my nose, but it's greatly reduced! I use Multi Purpose Concealer, Honey Glow Beige Medium 2.0 Foundation, Veil Shade in Medium.
My name is KingTaco and I too am a makeup forum addict!I will try your mascara application tip next time!
Nice to meet you, Dana! There's nothing wrong with being girly--you're gorgeous! Thanks for the tip on Pixiwoo

You look great - I especially loved that halloween look on the EM forum. Its really nice to learn a bit more about you! :) I don't like being called a girly girl either, but I guess its something that I have to learn to deal with!! haha.
Haha my bf calls me makeup girl too!! I don't really mind it though because it's pretty true, I definitely embrace it. You should too :)
Thanks everyone! YAY for being girly! hahah.Hi Shaybear, I was wondering what it was you recommended because the link took me to the gel liners.. which look nice too actually.
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
Hi Dana! I too have been coveting the Shu Uemura lash curler, but have not forked out the money yet. I keep asking myself is it really that much better than my E.L.F curler I paid $1 for??Also, thanks for the mascara tip!
Hi Dana, love you Halloween pic! I enjoy reading the make-up forums too. I am going to try you mascara tip. My husband teases me about being a "money-pit" LOL ...but he is full of hot air!
hi dana! i adore your halloween look, it's awesome. and the everyday minerals brushes are so incredibly soft and don't even shed...i can't believe they are so affordable! my favorite brush from them has to be their flat top kabuki. i am pretty bummed i didn't act quickly enough to buy their retractable kabuki though because it would come in so handy for work or on the go situations.

I'm a total make-up board/blog junkie too. A couple of weeks ago I was in Sephora and asked the girl who was helping me if she had tried the new smashbox eye primer we were next to, I asked how does it compare to UDPP and she was totally confused for a second. Then she figured out what I was talking about and we laughed about how I spent too much time on make up sites. Also now is the time to buy the Urban Decay eyeshadows you want, they have a friends and family sale going on right now, everything on their site 30% off. The code is FNFW1. P.S. Thanks so much Meg for posting about the sale.
Love and Lipgloss,

Hi Dana, its nice to meet you :) Cute pics, and very creative on the Halloween one. I also love being on makeup forums too.
Cute photos! Nice meeting you. First - save your money (I have a coin jar) and buy the Shu Uemura eyelash curler. Yes, it really is that good. The downside is that you really need to replace it after a year, but I think that's also why we get such great results from it. Besides, why worry about a year from now? Get it NOW.I was interested to learn that you're an artist and art teacher. Sounds great! My husband paints, and I'm a docent (guide) at an art museum. I'm not only a makeup junkie, but also an art geek. LOL.

Hi Dana, nice to meet you. Those are awesome pictures of you, especially your Halloween costume (I painted a friend's face like a cat for Halloween too!) I also love Cetaphil, purrell and Sharpies--can't imagine life without them.So far, the best product I've found for my oily face is Shiseido SPF 55 lotion. It actually is more mattifying than any primer I've tried (silicone based primers tend to make me even more oily, and non-silicone primers don't do much). It isn't a miracle worker, but it's quite decent! A bit expensive though, so try to get a sample to see if it works for you. Also, it's cool to see another artist on here. What kind of art do you do?

Hi there Dana! So nice to meet you! :D I'm loving your pics, they're great. It's so cool that you're an art teacher and an artist! I love meeting creative people. :P I also am a huge fan of pixiwoo, gosh those girls are gorgeous! And they're one of the few people on there who are actually working makeup artists so I love getting tips from them. :D
nice to meet you dana!! :)I love your Halloween picture! my most admired teacher back in high school was my art teacher, she can transform a pencil and a paper into a masterpiece, i've always looked up to artists and musicians, i always think they viewed the world differently, without the biased eye.lol! my boyfriend is constantly nagging me about my make up obsession, and how i spend more time with make up than him :\

Nice to meet you! I absolutely love Pixiwoo too, they are amazing, and I love the british humor. I totally respect strong women that say what's on their mind, instead of what they're expected to say.

You are stunning and so charismatic,I swear I feel your glowing-energy through the screen girl!!! I love your "kitty look" and that you "do art"....it's always been at the top of my personal ist as well and your creative spirit shines here!I have been "testing out" some mineral makeups (used to despise them, verdict still out but felt I needed to try a few more...) and so far,the blends from Coastal Scents ARE much better than any other I have found,EDM also caused bumps on me.Cetaphil rocks and so do you,so lovely to meet you!
Hello! Love the cat picture! Great tip on the mascara-thanks. I also am a Boots fan. I'll have to check out those Pixiwoo, I haven't seen that. Very nice to meet you!
You're so gorgeous! My boyfriend definitely makes fun of me and my obsession with makeup. Every time I'm on Meg's and he's at home he's always like, "how much makeup can you read about?!". He definitely doesn't get it, but it's okay :D I like a lot of the products you use - I use a lot them too. I'm also a purell addict. I have a bottle in my purse, in my car, and in each room of my house..lol.
Nice to meet you, Dana! I really love your cat costume. The eyes are fantastic!!
I am totally teased by my fiance, my family and my friends for my make up addiction! they just dont get it??! but its ok because i have you lovely ladies and i know you al soooo get it! =Ddo you get your boots products in florida?! (or when you visit home?-i thought boots was just a UK thing?!)www.youtube.com/user/millmo7
Hi 'I love makeup'!Yes i get them when i go home, but, i was in Target the other day and saw they had a small boots No7 line! how cool huh!
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
I love your halloween costume!! You look so perky with your whiskers and cat ears. You know the funny thing is, I think I'm really girly but my bf says I'm definitely not :( lol
Hey Dana so happy to see you featured !!!! As you may know I love EDM brushes too who doesn't ????
Nice to meet you Dana. You are beautiful in your everyday look and kitty alter ego. I love Audrey Hepburn as well and you can always find me watching Roman Holiday or Funny Face when I'm down. I have BBW anti-bac in my purse, car & on my desk at work. You can never be too careful where germs are concerned. My bf makes fun of me as well due to my addiction to Meg's. As for being girly. I am a huge girly girl. I like being one too. You can be girly and still be strong. I tried everyday minerals but had a reaction to it so I switched back to Pink Quartz Minerals. I love the brand and my skin looks so much better. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hello Dana! Nice cat halloween costume. Thanks for the signature minerals link.. I haven't heard of it but I would like to know how that works for you when you try it. I use EDM and also get oily from using it.. I agree their brushes are the softest!
My beauty blog: http://igknowidea.blogspot.com <br> My crafting blog: http://craftyandallthat.blogspot.com
I also get the "are you looking at make up forums again??" from my boyfriend! Have you ever tried the kaolin powders from Everyday Minerals? I have super oily skin and it has really helped me. I put Monistat gel on as a primer first then dust on kaolin soft bronze. I used to put it over too, but since I started spritzing my face with a finishing spray the clay went all funky when it was wet. I go to school in the caribbean and the combo of primer and clay powder has really reduced my oily face and keeps my foundation from turning orange by the end of the day.
Boots cosmetics is available at Target. So you don't have to travel far for great makeup! I see you prefer Everday Minerals. I've only tried Bare Escentuals (love them!) and Ulta's minerals (bad. Very bad). Lovely meeting you!
love the cat pic :)
Hi Dana! My bag is in the same condition as yours: full of crumpled receipts and full of makeup. :) Absolutely try out the Shu, it's totally worth it. I always keep q-tips in my bag too. If my mascara gets on my eye lid, it my liner runs a bit, they clean up everything. Those UD colors would totally go with blue eyes! In case you didn't know, UD has a Half Baked palette with 4 eye shadows: Twice Baked, Half Baked, Flipside, Baked + Mini Bourbon 24/7 liner + Mini Sin Primer. All for about 30 bucks. Here's the link: http://www.urbandecay.com/categories/GetBakedEyeshadowPalette.cfm
Hi Dana! ;) My fiance teases me ruthlessly about my makeup obsession as well. He frequently asks me what forum drama has been going on lately, lol. :P And I love Audrey, such a style icon.I <3 UD's e/s. They're really great; long lasting, easy to blend, and super pigmented. And let me tell you, the Baked colors.. AMAZING with blue eyes! I like to wear Half Baked all over my lids with Twice Baked in the crease and as a liner, and it really makes my blue eyes pop like crazy. YDK goes really nicely with those as well.
Hi Dana! So glad to see you featured on here. I love your halloween pic! I have blue/hazel eyes and the Get Baked Palette works great, I love those colors!
Hey Dana! Great to see you shining in the spotlight! I'll have to try the mascara tip!
i don't like being called girly either, despite having more makeup than most of my friends combined. also you have great bone structure, dana! i'm jealous.
An Everyday Minerals fan here :)
cute pics!! I'm never without a qtip either.

Nice to meet you Dana! :) I love your Halloween photo, it's super cute!
My Beauty Blog:http://www.glam-morena.com/
well, who doesn't love Everyday Minerals brushes?!:)
Nice to get to know you Dana.I have a tendancy to get mascara on my brow bone too. I will just have to try that tip of looking down.I keep my m/u forum addiction on the down low from my hubby. He would think I was totally nuts (maybe he already does...lol).
My scrapbook shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/elle71125
hahah elle_71125, that is funny, i did try doing it sneakily, but then i got caught one day and i was like, heck, so what! It is just the same as you on your car parts forum, endlessly looking at pics and comments about car parts! hahah
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
Hey Dana! It's good to see you on here and get to know you a little better. :) Love your two pictures, you look great! My guy teases me, too- but deep down I don't think me minds me becoming a little more girly!
Nice to meet you Dana! I really do think that the half baked and baked colors would look great with your blue eyes. I have been using similar shades to help exaggerate my blue eyes, and I always get compliments when I wear those sort of colors. And right now UD is having their 30% off sale, maybe you could pick up one or a few since they are cheaper now! I too have been a victim of teasing because of my makeup addiction. One of my ex boyfriends used to joke that 1/3 of his diet consisted of lipgloss because of me. Well everyone knows that lipgloss is one thing I'm almost always wearing even if I'm not wearing any other makeup. I'm a gloss whore. And I always wear really good tasting ones, especially when I'm going to be smooching someone. He thought his jokes were funny, but he is now my ex. But it was for other reasons. And most of his ex girlfriends has been way more on the tomboy, wearing little to no, makeup side. So I was probably the girliest girl he had ever dated. Most guys don't really tease me about it, although I get the occasional guy that will tease me for my glitter addiction, my huge makeup addiction, or the fact that I usually have 10 lipglosses and 3 or 4 bottles of perfume in my purse at all times.
The cat picture is cute!I always keep hand sanitizer in my purse as well as various lip glosses lol
Hi Glad to meet you! So sorry about EDM and the Pixiwoo girls are fantastic!
