GET A ROOM! COSMIC FACE FLUSH

Wed, 11/11/2009 - 8:51am
  • Face

cosmicflushMissRo here to tell you that Dr. Dima advises Megheads to beware that not all Mineral formulations are alike.

There are several brands on the market that are mineral focused. Bare Escentuals, La Bella Donna, Jane Iredale, Everyday Minerals, just to name a few. To be honest, I have never been a big fan of Bare Escentuals, because everything in their line is loose powder. To travel with those products is a nightmare, but I know they have a loyal following. I actually used to work for La Bella Donna when I lived in New York. I liked their line much more, because only their foundation was loose, the rest of their line was normal, pressed powder formulations. I haven't tried Jane Iredale nor Everyday Minerals, so can't comment on them.

As you know, I have come to enjoy the Cosminology line very much. Most of my posts have been about their skincare line. I did write about their concealers, which are fabulous. So, now it's time to talk about their GET A ROOM!™ Cosmic Face Flush™ “for that just ravished look”. Again, you have to love the names of their products!

Their unique formulation is all natural micronized minerals. It has natural healing properties and is SO gentle it can be used immediately post laser surgery and dermatological procedures. It's great for sensitive and acne prone skin. It is Anti-Aging with potent anti-oxidants and SPF protection. A cheek flush that’s actually GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN!

Formulated with unique french clay and sericite, it provides a silky yet exceptional texture that allows skin to “breathe” while protecting it at the same time. It also allows for easy, natural blending. It’s very hard for this formulation not to look natural - like you just stepped out of the gym or sauna. It does not dry or irritate the skin, it mimics our skin’s natural oils and chemistry to provide superior adherence. The best part is that it is naturally pressed (not loose!) with jojoba esters, so great for travel because it’s not a messy loose formulation. The colors are so natural they can all be worn by any skin type or color depending on your mood or the lighting you’ll be in, no ashy undertones. Finally, it is paraben free, talc free, fragrance free, oil free, dye-free  non-comedogenic, bismuth oxychloride free (so no chalkiness or streaky pink color).

For a limited time, with your purchase of GET A ROOM! Cosmic Face Flush, you will receive a complimentary Cheekabuki!

Have you tried a mineral beauty line? If so, which one os your favorite and why?

I'm really trying to get on the minerals bandwagon.  I hated Bare Escentuals because they didn't have a color that matched me well enough and melted off my face in warm humid weather.  With Everday Minerals the colors match me well, I like how it feels, but it accentuates uneven texture more than I'd like.

I know what you mean. Im currently searching for a GREAT primer to wear under my EDM. Because if you dont have that perfect canvas the mineral makeup really brings out the flaws. But i love the way it wears.

I love Everyday Minerals. I first read about them here in the forum, and am now hooked. Still trying to figure out my perfect shade so I can order a full size foundation, but I love the texture and the fact that it's natural, not a bunch of hard-to-pronounce ingredients. My favorite blush is a pressed powder from Sonia Kashuk, can't remember the shade name, but it's perfect for me.

I actually didn't like Bare Minerals at first so I stayed away from minerals in general for a few years and found Everyday Minerals.  It's the best!  I like how they have pressed foundation compacts because I don't really like loose powders.  I never tried, but I heard that their flat top brush (I think about $6) is amazing as well!

I've been using Everyday Minerals for a year and a half now, and I love it! The loose powders were annoying at first, but I've learned to live with it and after spilling eyeshadows and whatnot all over the floor so many times I've learned to be much more careful.

i love minerals too but am searching for my base.. one of my top products on my profile is the everyday minerals base, but although the color match is really great for me and i love the way it looks.. i noticed that after wearing it a long time everyday i started getting bumps, like clogged pores! Shame, I am going to try Silk naturals base next see if i like it better. But i would love to try this one too.. maybe after I have given Silk Naturals a proper go. Thanks for your rave review.. i do like serecite, it has texture that really covers pores and makes me look flawless, so this is probably a very nice product.

I wore bare escentuals for about  year and then I found everyday minerals! So Ive been using that the past 2 months and love it. Plus its a third the price of BE.Im not however a one brand kind of gal. On any given day ill have mabey 3 brands of makeup on my face. I love my lancome bronzer. my EDM foundation and whatever eyeshadow suits me that day.I just ordered some mineral eye shadows from Pure Luxe minerals. The colors looks FABULOUS!!! but we will wait and see if they are as pigmented as they look. The curse with mineral eyeshadows is they tend to not be as pigmented and just look a flat dirty color when you put them on.  I was drooling over the mineralista colors but when I went to order last night their website says they are taking a break. SO they lost my business there. Businesses do not taKE breaks.... seriously....

I use Dr. Dima's Foundation in AstroThena, I love love love it. I give a compact to all of my friends and fam for bdays and xmas I love it that much. I'm a one brand kinda girl. If I find something I love I stick with it, I mean I've only ever bought Ford Explorers because I just love them but that's besides the point. I use her eyeshadows too and have never had a flat dirty color problem like punkeydew. I'm wearing AstroDelight right now and think it looks just lovely. I hear what all of you are saying about having the right canvas or else it doesn't look right. Try wetting a makeup sponge and rolling it over your mmu to set it, it will give a more dewy finish and help conceal flaws. I too used to us Bare Minerals put just couldn't deal with the loose powder it was too much work.

About a year ago I threw out all my traditional cosmetics (except for eyeliner) and went full-on into Everyday Minerals.  It's a great line, but there are so many other lines out there - Silk Naturals, Meow, Fyrianne, Aromaleigh and I aim to try them all!                           I don't mind the messiness of the powder so much.  I just got used to it, and now I can even apply my loose mineral eye shadow on the bus when I'm running late! That Cheekabuki from Dr. Dima looks verrrrry tempting though.  I think the most fun of mineral makeup is the soft brushes!

I'm on the fence about mineral makeup. I liked BE - as long as it wasn't foundation. Their foundations have a tendency to break me out. I love their eye shadows, blushes, and lip glosses though, especially their Buxom lips line. I actually prefer loose powder, which is why I love their shadows so much. They're really pigmented and I love them.I like the idea of blush or "flush" that's healthy for your skin. I have tons of issues with things like acne and scaring from acne so wearing something that's good for my skin and doesn't break me out all the time is important for me.

I currently use Everyday Minerals (full line but especially foundation) & it covers really well. I have been using EDM for about 7 months now, and the only issue I have come across is the oiliness on my skin by the end of the day. I do have pretty oily skin, but the foundation definitely makes it much worse (& thats with primer). I have also tried Silk Naturals, which I also love, but doesn't provide as much coverage as EDM; pretty darn close though! Silk Naturals seems like it works way better with my oily skin, I just wish I didn't have to use so much product to get FULL coverage (I have acne scars to cover). Also, I can't seem to apply the SN base wet like I do my EDM, it just doesn't work for me for some reason?

I've been using Coastal Scents [http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm] mineral make-up for a few weeks now.  I was completely converted from my regular MAC Studio Fix when I ordered a sample pack and fell in love.  It looks so much more natural, and my skin feels so much better being able to breathe through my make-up!   Last week I ordered a custom mineral makeup set with full-size pots of the following; Concealer, Foundation, Veil [to hold it all in place - extra staying power], Eyeshadow x 2 and a blush ..all for the amazing price of US$26.95 + US$9.04 shipping to Australia. That's US$35.99 for more make-up than I'll use in months! To put this in perspective, ONE MAC BLOTTING POWDER COSTS ME AU$35.  Needless to say, I'm hooked.  ;]

I have a love/hate relationship with minerals. Bare Escentuals was the first I tried, and it made my face itchy and offered very little coverage. And I didn't care for the loose powder mess that usually went a long with minerals. Then I tried Physicians Formula talc free mineral wear loose powder and liked using it to set my liquid or cream foundations, for a little extra coverage. Now I'm loving Clinique's newest mineral powder that shaves off a little bit at a time, so less mess! Sephora also has a fantastic pressed mineral powder (my Bare Escentuals obsessed best friend has now been converted to Sephora mineral powder!) I've also tried an Alima sample and it was nice, but not the right color, but I hate mail ordering things that I can't easily try, especially when there are SO MANY GREAT alternatives to mail order only products.

I was also a Bare Escentuals girl for a few years, and I really liked it a lot.  I thought the coverage was good, it looked natural, and I had no skin problems from it.  And I really never had any issues with the loose powder.  Eventually I think my skin just got tired of it.  I didn't look "fresh-faced" anymore.  Not that I should be surprised about that at my age!  Anyway, I gave most of my BE stuff to my stepdaughter (she uses BE) - and moved on.  So, for blush I generally use either the Tarte stick in Flush - or Nars powder blush in Orgasm. Some day I'll try Dr Dima's - and I'm also interested in learning more about the Pink Quartz Minerals.  Gigi - what do you like so much about them?

I've yet to find a mineral make-up that I love. I like the ones that I've tried but don't love any of them. I don't like that I have to wait for my primer to settle before I apply the powder (the powder primers just don't work for me) and I don't like loose powder products. If it wasn't for those two things I'd probably love mineral make-up.

I do really like Everyday Minerals, which I tried after reading about it on this site. I love the idea that it is doing something good for my skin, and it does seem to improve my skin over time. It seems that after a couple weeks of use, though, it doesn't look as good as it did. Right now I am using Sephora brand mineral powder in the pressed compact, and it's okay. I use it over liquid foundation, though. Right now I am going through a Sue Devitt phase, because Beautyticket.com carries a lot of her products, and I am obsessed with that site. Another thing that I never knew existed until I read about it here!

My first MMU was Everyday Minerals and I got them in May. With EM, it's really a love/hate relationship: love the base's finish immediately after application, love their e/s, hate that I can't find a base match, and HATE that my face look like a melting wax figurine after a few hours, also hate that the blushes turn orange on me.  I even changed my skincare routine, and bought Monistat chafing gel just to make EM work for me.   Silk Naturals was my 2nd take on MMU (learnt abt this brand from the EM forums) -- very nice, matte finish, the finish seems 'flatter' than EM, didn't turn me oily, but do need to touch up mid-day.  With SN, you mixed up your own match.   I haven't got a perfect match yet but what I have now is pretty close. SN makeup have silk powder in them (they have since started a vegan line -- without silk powders) so I guess it's not exactly just minerals.  But I like it since I buy the notion that silk is good for your skin.  Also <3 SN's blushes & e/s (lots of famous brands dupes).  3rd try: LaurEss -- the minimalist line for combination skin stay put the whole day. The ethereal line gives a smooth and slightly glowy finish. It contains lauroyl lysine. No match yet, and it doesn't seem to photograph well -- appears lighter that real life. And I suspect that it clogs my pores. Their e/s or blushes contain carmine, which may be questionable to some. <3 the smooth/creamy finish of their e/s & blushes. but their blushes orange on me too.  So verdict for now: Silk Naturals.  p/s tip on touch up: I'll load EM retractable flat top with a little powder (base or finishing powder) and re-cap it. When I need to touch up, I just lightly dust my face with the retractable.

The first and only mmu foundation I have ever tried is EM (I've tried a few other companies in terms of e/s and blush, but not foundation). I had thought I had found the HG of mu; vegan, cruelty free, all natural, super cheap, and terrific quality. I've been using it for close to two years now, but lately I've been noticing that it accentuates my already large pores. I'm not sure if it always had and I've just been blind to it because I was so amazed that it made my blotchy uneven rosacea/blemish prone skin look *gasp* NORMAL, but the pores are the first thing I notice after I put on my mu anymore. I know it just comes down to finding a good primer, I think that any mmu would accentuate pores without it. I'm getting ready to try out SN's vegan foundation, I like the idea of mixing it myself so that I can get it as fair as I need.

I switched my base to Meow cosmetics because my pores were getting more clogged with EDM. I still use the EDM, when I need a bit more coverage.

I first heard about MMU from an infomercial- I'm a night owl and those things sucker me in! My first foray into mineral makeup was Physician's Formula's powder. It looked powdery, probably because it was too light- but the next shade up was too dark. I did some online research and found Everyday Minerals and their free makeup kit. I used their foundation for almost a year but never found a good match. Now I use Silk Naturals and absolutely love their foundation! It's creamy and melts into my skin. Plus it doesn't puddle in my oily T-zone like EDM did. Since I mix it myself, I have a perfect match! It's the best stuff! Their eyeshadows are gorgeous as well, and I hear their lipglosses and blushes are wonderful too!

Blush is up there among my most coveted desert island beauty products.  I love trying new blush...creme, gel, pressed, loose, stain, liquid, mineral...If your a blush then you are my instant best friend.  Albeit not all blushes are the same.  I have tried some down right shi*** blush before, and then I have tried some of the best.  I love mineral blushes, but hate how most of them are loose.  I love loose mineral blushes, but they are a pain in the you know what to travel with.  Several of my mineral shadows and blushes have died in my purse.  That explains why the inside of several of my purses are very shimmery.  So I especially love mineral products that are pressed.  Because almost every makeup product ends up in my purse at some time or another.  You think I would have learned my lesson by makeup spilling in my purse, but no I haven't.  I know myself so well.  I literally have to stash my loose makeup items in a drawer, and practically cattle prod myself to not put them in my purse.  So this is the perfect product that I could throw in my purse and not worry about.  I love the packaging, and the fact that they sell an accompanying cheekbuki.  I also love the sound of the ingredients.  It sounds very gentle and amazing.  The ingredient that really caught my eye was the french clay.  I don't think I have ever seen that ingredient in makeup before.  And it would be fabulous for me to whip this out and tell my girlfriends it is made out of french clay and jojoba oil.  Talk about feeling glamorous.  I will have to give this a try!  The only mineral makeup I have really tried is from EDM and from Coastal Scents.  Both are really good quality and come in a great range of colors.  I especially love Bellini blush by Coastal Scents.  It is a gorgeous, perfect amount of shimmer, peachy coral color.  I fell in love with it from the moment I tried it.  I also really love the chit chat loose blush by EDM, but I think that color has been discontinued, so my new favorite is Apple, thanks to blush I received from Meg in my last package!

I've used both EM and Silk Naturals.  I like both, but for different reasons. It's good to know what all is out there, though -- so many things look so good!

I love my Everyday Minerals but I've been struggling with finding the right primer! When I put it on over my tinted moisturizer it looks much better but melts off my face within a few hours. I tested Laura Mercier's face powders and had the same result.

I've tried several mineral products but I have to admit the whole "loose powder" thing isn't my favorite. I'm a complete klutz and anything with that high of a chance for mess is NOT good for me. haha!

i've tried several UK mineral makeup lines before finding everyday minerals. the price and specials were the main attraction and i'm became completely addicted. i did struggle with finding a truly perfect match though and recently i've started using silk naturals and i couldn't be happier. their blushes are AMAZING! and their original foundation is just perfect for me as it is quite sheer and i don't need a heavy coverage. :) you do have to mix your foundation but i actually find this a better system as you can adjust your base shade with the seasons. they have a really great range of colours for eyes, cheeks and lips too. :) x
