TOKYO MILK! YOUR KISS IS ON MY LIST-KISSING KIT!

Mon, 11/09/2009 - 6:02pm

tokyomilkMeg here! The "goodybag" at parties is a huge Hollywood draw. It's really great what they put in them and I have been known to drag myself across the city to an event I was only sort of interested in to get the goody bag. Sue me. Like I'm the only one who ever does that! Innocent

I was double booked and Megken went off to his film party without me. He got a great goody bag and he knows by now how to divide the bag up. He keeps the baseball hats, t-shirts and candy. I get any coupons, mini bottles of booze and beauty products. It's like clockwork. We have our system down pat.

He handed me my latest stash and said, "oh, I know this falls under your category. It's a lipstick. It came with my category though-it came with really good breath mints. That's kind of like candy." He had a point. I was intrigued though. A lipstick that came with breath mints? Megken then handed me one of the most gorgeously packaged little box ever. I could not wait to check out my Tokyo Milk Your Kiss Is On My List-Kissing Kits!

I loved beautifully wrapped cosmetics-I can't help it. I will pay the extra $5 to have something look delicious on my vanity. I had never heard of this brand before. I quickly applied my new toy. The color was extremely smooth, it was not sheer but not quite a dark matte. It was more on the subtle side but could definitely be layered for more bang.
This was a goodybag find so I think Tokyo Milk went with their shade #52 "sheer kiss" so that it would be universally flattering. It is definitely a staple color.

It was an unrelated coincidence when Lisa from B-Glowing.com sent me an email 2 days later saying "Will you let the Meg Heads Know we are now carrying the whole Tokyo Milk line?" It was really kismet when Lisa sent that to me because B-Glowing.com was just the type of place that would sell this exotic bird-I made a mental note to tell Lisa to check out the line before she beat me to the punch!
tokyomilk1The packaging is a super sensuous chinois! I've been clicking through and looking at some of their other items like Cherry Bomb-bon bon lip balm "A fragrant cherry lemonade on the lips" are calling my name! Lisa even put up a special offer (in the big letters in the blue!)

SPECIAL OFFER:  Purchase $125 of any Tokyo Milk & receive 1 Tokyo Milk Eau de Parfum Spray as our gift to you.  Retail Value $28.  Please tell us your choice of scent under "comments" during check out.  No code needed. Cannot be combined with any other offer.

So that was my great goodybag find! Definitely beats the pack of gun and pack of crayons in my 5 year-old birthday bags! What do you ladies think? What companies packaging makes you swoon?

Buy It Here!

The packaging for those is definitely gorgeous. Typically I am drawn to packaging for products that aren't in my budget, like Bond no. 9 perfume bottles. They're all so pretty, especially the sparkly ones.

I buy a ton of Too-Faced based on the packaging, I am such a sucker for good packaging and marketing. The products are good, but probably not as good as the packaging makes them seem. And if the name of the color or product is cute and quirky, I'm totally sold on it.

i must say i'm a sucker for nice packaging, i know i shouldnt judge a book by it's cover but i often do, i'd go to the library and always pick out a book that has nice crease-less covers. this sounds like an interesting gloss! im curious as to how it is applied. the packaging is unique indeed.

That packaging is pure splendor!  Even though I teaching marketing, I often fall prey to lovely packaging.  Hmm . . . what packaging makes me quiver?  Estee Lauder's Christmas gift from two years ago.  The shadow and blush palettes were beveled gold!  I like Tarte, especially the luxurious plum tote which holds their smokey eyeshadows.  And then there's Lancome.  I'm a rose fiend and the little emblossed bloom makes my heart beat hard!  Meg, would this repair lips as well?  I need a powerhouse salve for my ravaged pout.  I haven't been outside much and our heat is not dry, but I have parched lips 24/7, 360 days a year.

Forgot again--darn, I still have the flu and an aching head and fever so I apologize.  I laughed aloud.  When I was a little girl my dad used to call me "Miss Kiss." I'd imitate one of those dolls who puckered up when the arms were moved together.  I'll have to buy this for sweet memories as well.  I hope I'm done!

I don't know if anyone has ever checked out Anna Sui but I LOVE their packaging and little sections in departments stores. When I walk by I always imagine being able to furnish my little girls room in the exact way with the mirror and pretty little bottles. Check out their site. Little butterflies...so adorable. I always wonder why there isn't more hype about this line. I did try one of their perfumes but wasn't to crazy about it.

Anna Sui was all the hype in Asia for a few years due to their packaging.  Their hand held and table mirrors were very much copied by "pirates" at one time.  The products are really nothing to shout about.  Sometimes I really want to buy something for their packaging but I always stop myself.

oh I love Anna Sui, they have the most adorable packaging! I used to buy their Dolly Girl (forget which one it is!) perfume from Victoria's Secret but knew when it went on clearance that it was probably being discontinued, so I seriously bought like 3 large bottles for only $28 each (originally like $50)! haha you can probably still find it but hey..at least I stocked up for a great price :)

Can anyone believe that I found a make-up brand before Meg?  I had to work to get the goodie bag.  They weren't going to give it to just anyone.  But I had my ways, because I was not going to let it get away and I knew there was make-up in it so I found out the "code-word" I needed to give the gate-keeper.  Sometimes getting those Hollywood gift-bags are a challenge.  I have to say that the mints were very good.  I love cinnamon and these mints were so good.  I think this is perfect, because if was dating... I think it would be a great gift to show my intentions...  nothing subtle about giving a girl a "kiss kit" on your date, but then again it comes with the lipstick, so at the very least, maybe with some wine too, that should get you a kiss.

I tend to look past the packaging and just rip it open to get to the goodies inside and see how well they work. *grimace* I'm sure I'm the family embarassment at Christmas and birthdays with wrapping paper flying everywhere while my mom yells "Fold it honey, we can use it again." A conservationist to the core my mother lol! I will say that Estee Lauder is definitely my favorite in terms of their gifts because of their awesome makeup cases and bags they give with them. I have a collection of their train cases and they are so durable and fabulous at the same time! I use every one of them. And Meg, thanks for the review on the lipstick. Lipstick and gloss is definitely something I tend to not think about with my makeup purchases, and stick with the safe neutral lip. I will check this out!

Some of my favorites (I don't own the first two, but they're on my list of things to buy!)--Too Faced Kabuki brush (um, soft AND comes in a pink case?!)--Hard Candy lipsticks (the new ones, at Walmart. Cool funky designs, pink ribbon on the ends)--Nina Ricci "Nina" EDT (adorable little glass apple bottle, AND a delicious scent inside!)--Cargo Hands of Hope Palette (Gorgeous colors, the hands are just beautiful on the shadows)--MAC Hello Kitty collection (it's Hello Kitty. need I say more?)

Oooh, so pretty! I have to admit I'm also drawn to glitz and pretty packaging. That's why a simple "I'm just going in to have a quick peek" turns into hours of oooohing and ahhhing at Sephora. My favorite mu item in terms of looks is the UD Sustainable Shadow palette in the bamboo box. I love that they try to make the packaging reflect the beauty of what's inside. I do agree with Nicoll though, I like streamlined packaging. I prefer for the actual mu container to be pretty, but without a lot of fuss in terms of extra paper/plastic/etc that just has to get thrown out.

This definitely sounds like a lipstick and a brand worth trying.  Good packaging on beauty items really does it for me too!  I will sometimes pay more for something because it is packaged really well, in a metal tin, an atomizer bottle, etc.  I really love palettes that are pretty like the ones from Urban Decay and Too Faced.  I really go gaga over vintage looking packaging too, like stuff from Body & Soul, Besame, or Borghese.
