JUICE BEAUTY'S CLEANSING GEL FOR COMBO/OILY SKIN!
Sweetassgal here getting ready to bring you plenty of love in my upcoming reviews thanks to the amazing women at Juice Beauty! Meg has stocked me with plenty of JB to last for weeks of reviews and I'm happy to say I'm luxuriating in them ALL! 95% Organic, check, passionate women check check, not just some faceless corporate makeup machine...check all the way to the organic beauty aisle at Whole Foods. But where to start?
Well ladies...doesn't all beauty begin with a clean canvas? Why yes, it does! So it's Juice Beauty's Cleansing Gel for combo/oily skin for us today. I have high expectations for any cleansing product because I expect it to do a myriad of miraculous wonders for my skin. I need a flawless palette upon which to ply my makeup wares and anything short of my expectations is going to end up in la garbaaage. That's a tall order for any cleanser. Throw in the hurdles of being based in organic principals and ingredients and you've not only got a hurdle...you've got the frickin' Golden Gate Bridge to clear.
Juice Beauty uses a "refreshing blend of certified organic, antioxidant-rich cherry and lemon juices, purifying botanicals and soothing cleansers that will gently remove impurities to clarify and balance, while protecting skin's natural moisture". First off let me state that this is a product that initially sets you up to be a little underwhelmed. Side note movie blurb from 10 Things I Hate About You...
Chastity: I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?
Bianca: I think you can in Europe.
I LOVE that line...okay...I'm back! Reason for my initial worries, upon first pump the cleanser seemed a little thin, there are no foaming properties to give you that false feeling of super cleansing security, and to be honest...the scent was not my favorite. But knowing Juice Beauty's stellar reputation I proceeded and applied to my face.
I worked the cooling gel all over, removed it with a damp cloth and gave a final cool splash rinse. First to notice was that all of my makeup was thoroughly removed, my skin was left clean without feeling stripped and my cheeks felt super, super soft! Incredibly soft! I followed with other JB products (to be reviewed in coming weeks) and went to bed.
Waking up the next morning I felt my skin retained its softness and smoothness and there was no overnight build up of excess oil. I have been doing this every day for the last two weeks and my skin has remained relatively clear (two aggravated twin-zits set up camp on both sides of my nostrils at my girlie time...look at me...I'm equally hormonal coming at you from the left OR the right!) but they are long gone. I don't have any of those knot like pimples that tend to appear at my jaw line so that's a major coup in itself. But most of all, I have the pleasure of knowing I'm doing something great for my skin that is equally beatifying the inner me while respecting the planet.
So back to my issues on the state of my "whelmness"...one pump of Juice Beauty Cleansing Gel is enough to cover your whole face so a quick dollop and rub into your skin goes faster than gravity can run in down your finger. No worries there. Next, the ingredients that make most cleansers bubble and foam simply aren't good for you and I was right when I said they give us a false sense of cleanliness. I use a lot of product during the day including primers and this removes every last bit. Lastly, I was not a fan of the smell and as many of you know...I'm a sucker for scents. Well...I'm still not loving it but it dissipates right away once you've rinsed and the organic cleansing powers and softening effects are enough to let it go. I checked online and reviews abound saying the same thing. People aren't wild for the smell but it works so well they simply do NOT care...they love this effective yet gentle cleanser!
Mama always taught me to pick my battles and in this case, responsible beauty that is effective and good for the environment wins out over my need to have everything smell like orchard blossoms in springtime! Besides...another Juice Beauty product I will be reviewing later leaves me LOVING the smell that comes up to my nose and it’s not just a quick clean and rinse step like the cleanser is. All in all...if you are concerned about the ingredients in your beauty products and demand organic then Juice Beauty is a great option. See you next week for the second step in our JB routine of organic loveliness! GLAM ON!

Oh, Sweetassgal this product is right up my alley! I'm a fellow oil-slicker from years back, and with Summer coming up for us Southern Hemisphere lovelies it's time for me to pick a cleanser for the season! I've always found a lighter foaming cleanser really makes such a difference in the warmer months when you're battling not only oil and make up, but sweat as well. I am on a mission to hunt this sucker down! By the looks of the website those in my state of Queensland can only get this from David Jones - Robina Town Centre. I might give them a call and find out if the other David Jones stores stock it. I don't know if I'm that interested in trekking all that way for a cleanser! Great review as per usual. ♥
I trust your judgement lady! You got me hooked on the Alba Lavendar sunblock so I must give this a try now too :)

Missed you around here gorgeous!

thanks babe! I missed being around. The bitch is back! ;)

This sounds like a nice cleanser. I've never tried Juice Beauty although I've heard good things. I wonder if this would work with my Clarisonic. My current cleanser foams up a lot when using it to the point where it can get in my eyes, so a non-foaming option would be nice.
oooo im definitely going to look into to this, i have oily skin so this sounds about right. Though i am pretty faithful to my spectro gel, i wouldnt mind going down the organic route
This sounds like a nice cleanser. I'm loving the Juice Beauty reviews. The only Juice product I've tried is the lip plumper. Whilst it doesn't plump my lips I really like it cause it smells and tastes great.

I'm not sure if my local stores stock up on Juice Beauty, but I have to look into this! This cleanser is perfect for me because I wake up extremely shiny! And no day goes by that I have a new bump on my chin. I'm hoping it will work for me as it did for you!
This is a very nice cleanser. I no longer use it as I've been totally addicted to LUSH for the past several months, but this is what I was using prior to that, along with other JB moisturizers for day and nighttime. They are my second favorite skincare line.
Also...most of the JB line can be found at Whole Foods, for those of you looking for it. If you don't have one nearby, you can always go to Sephora or even order it online from Sephora or Drugstore.com.
Thanks for the great review. I am looking forward to hearing the rest of your reviews on this brand. I love hearing about different organic brands
Me, like you, have always been a bit suspicious about cleansers that does not foam thinking it is the foam that cleans. And me like you love when things work and are organic (and environment friendly, not always the same thing considering how certain organic resources are harvested etc.). So, if I had not found a new love at the moment, and it wasn't so darn expensive in comparison to the non organic brands, I would have rushed out and bought a bottle straight away. However, I did just recently find an organic, very basic, non foaming, non drying, non irritating, black head removing (together with facial brush gives the best result) creamy cleanser that works as well for me, for a much better price: The White Castille Cleanser from Garden of Wisdom. Admittedly, it does not contain all those nice ingredients that the juice beauty cleanser does, but I'd rather splurge a bit on a better cream if I can get an organic, working cleanser for less. :)
Very interesting...I'll have to write that one down for a future review. Gotta get around to EVERYTHING you know!

I know what you mean about only expecting cleansers to work if they foam up like crazy -for some reason Ive come to expect that from cleansers but like you say they cant be too good for your skin.Ive yet to actully stick with one cleanser,I havent found one ive loved enough to keep buying, I really love the fact its organic-think of the amount of face wash that goes down the drain and out into the enviorment.

I am trying to do the no sulfate hair products and i'd also love to do the no sulfate skin products (i'm fairly sure the sulfates is what makes it foam up--and they are extremely drying for your hair and skin). I have never used a product from this line and will have to check my local ulta as we don't have a whole foods near me :*( .sounds very promising though
ive heard good things about this brand from classmates. when my stash runs out, i'll probably be picking some things up.
every time i read a juice beuty review i am totally swooning for their products and this is no different! sounds perfect (bar the smell) I definately agree, in my mind lather=clean so i would struggle to "feel" clean using a wash that doesnt bubble-only one way to find out!p.s. i love that line too, love that movie<3 heath ledger <3
That is a really good piece of information on foaming cleansers. I've switched to a sulfate free shampoo but I never thought about soap. Does that go for body wash as well? What about bubble bath?
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
Really honey it goes for anything that bubbles and foams up a lot. Sulfates are a hot topic right now and many people are going sulfate free. It's just hard to get passed the "no lather" bubble up in the shower. Be it shampoo, body wash, soap whatever. A little lather is fine but its the stuff that poofs up 1000% its size that is the biggest worry.

Love the Juice Beauty reviews! I haven't used any of their products yet but I would really like to try them. I suffer from adult acne, usually on my chin and a few random ones that always show up.

Even though intellectually I know that foam does not equal clean, I can't get past the notion that if it isn't foaming, it isn't cleaning my super-oily skin. I have used a Juice Beauty serum and liked it, and I want to be aware of what's in my beauty products, but I am so results-oriented, that I'm almost ashamed to admit that if it works, I don't care what's in it. I know that's bad, but I can't seem to get past that mindset.
I've heard great things about JB's line for dry and sensitive skin, too. Seems like a quality brand. And Meg, it totally made my morning that you quoted 10 Things I Hate About You :)
http://ediblelove.wordpress.com/
I just love that movie and quote it all the time...I espcecially love "Bianca: Where did you come from? Planet "Loser"? Kat Stratford: As opposed to Planet "Look At Me, Look At Me"? This movie made me LOVE Julia Stiles. I know its considered a teen flick but for a rip off of The Taming of the Shrew it's funny and really well done.Glad the quote brightened your day!

Juice ROCKS on so many levels! Their stuff smells fabulous, works as it should and my only complaint is that you get SO damn much of it per purchase that sometimes, you just divert to something else and it gets un-loved!Great that it's so effective for you,I fear that my middle-aged dryness might rebel however,I am still HOOKED on the "Juara" line and without you,I'd be left to my own skanky-defenses in the cleansing department!
That's always the devil for me because I love trying new things and of course I want to give it all a chance but my beloved Juara is still my HG. I always keep a bottle around...especially when I need that scent fix!

I am still so bummed that Juice doesn't work for me! I tried this in conjunction with the acne serum and moisturizer. My skin was extremely aggravated and broke out. I am not sure if it was one of the products or all of them. I am sensitive and have oily skin. I am glad that it works for many of you. I just wish that it did for me!! :(But as usual it was a great review Angie!
You really made me want to try this line! Unfortunately there are no retailers near me. I hate having to buy things online! I need to keep a running list of all the fabulous products I have found on this site for the next time I visit the States.
Looks like a product I'd like to try, being a sufferer of oily/acne skin. They also have an acne clearing serum that looks intriguing. I've yet to find something I stand by for keeping my skin oil-free for a long period of time, so I'm thinking I'll order a bottle from their website. It also looks like their products are available at Sephora.
I don't think I've ever heard of this brand, but I do like the idea that it's fairly natural. I have pretty oily skin, so I would be interested to try this, although I typically don't like cleansers unless they make our skin feel super clean. I am sucker for things that make my skin super soft, so this could definitely be a hit or miss for me.
I have acne and oily skin so a good cleanser is a must. Unfortunatly, I tried juice beauty's acne treatment and it didn't do anything for me. I will be sticking with a cleanser that I know will work...for now at least.
I haven't tried the acne treatment yet. But so far the cleanser is a plus for me!

This cleanser sounds wonderful and seems chock full of antioxidants. But 6 oz is such a huge size... and what exactly does it smell like? Think I should head out to my local Sephora to see if they stock this.
Nice review! I will have try this cleanser out I bet it smells divine. I also loved how you quoted 10 Things I Hate About You...one of my fave movies!
ooh interesting.. yup i am def a very oily girl.. but dont want anything that will strip my skin either, since that just seems to make it more oily.. my 2 fave cleansers are Liz earle hot polish thingy.. and the cetaphil gentle cleanser. I think I will research this one a bit more before i buy. Thanks for the review!
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
I have tried this before and I really liked it. I also used their acne serum and I liked that as well. I recently got their Organics to go kit which has their moisturizer, facial peel, antioxidant serum, and mist. Can't wait to use! All of their products smell fruity and apple-y and it's organic so definitely like this brand a lot!

every time i see the word "organic" i have a big bright smile on my face :)in my perfect world all my cosmetics and skincare products would be organic, oh and free range eggs!but i've got to agree with you, many organic products lack on the scent department, i loveee nice smelling skin care etc. nonetheless from your review this seems like a great product! :)

oh wow! this sounds like an amazing product!where could you purchase this?I like in Canada, and we have Shoppers Drugmart as our main beauty supplier... and there's of course Sephora, and department stores as well...would they carry this?
Thanks for the great review, Sweetassgal! I've heard good things about Juice Beauty but haven't tried them yet. I have terribly oily yet somewhat sensitive skin so I might have to give this cleanser a try.PS-I love the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. It is one of my all time favorite movies. Seriously, I was a teenager when it came out and I wished I had a boyfriend who would belt out "You're just too good to be true, Can't take my eyes off you..." (Honestly, what teenage girl didn't imagine a hunky Heath Ledger singing and dancing for them?!)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6XGUhzfutc&feature=related

You're not kidding about their reputation! I have heard NOTHING but good things about these products...I need to check out beauty ticket and see if they have it there!
Tan is Love
Ooh, I'm loving natural products right now. I'm using about half natural products, at the moment. I'd love it if I could find a cleanser that helps me regulate the oil production on my T-zone. I'm heading off to check out their website! Oh and I love the quote from 10 Things I Hate About You! :)
Sounds like a great product! I've heard a little about it before.

I am so excited, Juice Beauty will be on sale at Hautelook tomorrow(Thursday) at 10AM CST! I hope I can score some goodies!
Loved your review and I'm with you pick your battles as long as it works well it's a keeper.

Fantastic review - its great to hear about more natural products. I don't really have very oily skin, but the cleansing milk sounds like it'd be right up my alley for my normal and slightly sensitive skin!!
I really love Juice Beauty products and have never been disappointed with any of them that I have tried. Personally I love the smell of this cleansing gel, but other than that I agree with this entire review - definitely a good buy. Also, if this is a little more than you would like to spend but would like similar products, Juice Beauty actually owns Juice Organics, its less expensive brand that produces very similar products. Still organic ingredients, etc. I think I recall reading somewhere that the main difference is that they have a slightly lower concentration of key ingredients. I have found that they are quite comparable. I know that Juice Organics are available at Target (they may be available at other stores as well, I'm just not sure). Thanks for a great review!
This is SO great to know about Juice Organics. Thank you!!!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I bought this recently. I use it with Clarisonic and found it to be a bit too drying for me and not enough moisture. So I grabbed my Juice Organics (made by same company, one's high end, one's drugstore, slight difference in active ingredients but still juice based) cleanser which is a creamy cleanser in a pump that was too moisturizing for my oily skin. I do like half a pump of each and get the best of both worlds. It's a good cleanser. The smell doesn't bother me at all, it's kind of a bit like cider maybe? I'm not mad crazy in love with it, but it's a good product and I like the fact it's organic. Like SAGal said, it cleans really well without stripping and it leaves my skin feeling soft. It does burn a bit on me though if I have like a pimple that I messed with (bad, I know!) and the skin is broken, it does sting for a second or two. I don't know if I would buy again. It's pretty expensive, but you need the tiniest bit for your entire face so that makes it worth it. Overall, I've been happy with this product.
oh this looks great. i got a very generous sample, seriously it lasted over a month, of juice beauty's serum and it made my skin glow. i used it in addition to my regular moisturizer, and it's not heavy at all. maybe it's time to invest in a whole bottle.
Certian times of year my skin will get oily I think this product sounds like its definitely for someone like me!
