CAROL'S DAUGHTER MIMOSA HAIR HONEY!

Sun, 11/08/2009 - 1:53pm
  • Goddess Granny
  • Hair

mimosaGoddess Granny here with an ax to grind and a mission to accomplish: FTC: it's not a good week to mess with my Meg...have had yet another stray virus come to call at the ranch and am finally feeling like I can do some virtual a**-whooping from here in Texas! I am feeling a bit beat-up from travel, the change of seasons, the flippin' daylight savings time change thing, (whose idea IS this???) and the fact that it's been one hell of a year so far in many ways. My skin is protesting via a perfect pimple on my chin (Apotek mask to the rescue!) my body is weak, my eyes are tight and dry and damn it: even my usual nothing to worry about hair is FREAKING out ! Kiss

It's just a case of Aunty Ugly coming to call I guess, the bi**h doesn't realize Halloween is over? Seriously I could haunt more than a house right now and starting this week, have kicked my own butt into high-gear in hopes of getting my self back looking and feeling like the Goddess I am!!!

Hot soothing baths with ginger tea to sip, lovingly applied healing skin-masks, a fresh pedicure, as much sleep as my husband will allow without waking me to ask if I think "it's cold enough out for a long-sleeved shirt?" (WTH???)_but seriously,my frazzled and vitamin-lacking hair needed something more than a slather of conditioner under a shower cap! It's been lying there un-loved and rather ratty for a couple of days so because I usually love my hair, I started doing a bit of research  to find "something" that might be gentle enough not to do any more damage but also packed a PUNCH when it came to the shine-factor as well and to treat it with some extra TLC.

FTC: this one's alllllll on me peeps!!! I'm raving about this amazing product that I discovered and purchased all by my lonesome simply because it IS amazing!

"Herbal-infused pomade that improves manageability and smoothes fly-aways while delivering a sweet scent! The blend's lack of water makes it perfect to fight the frizzies...Alkanet,an herb native to the Mediterranean this hair dress with it's bright citrus hue while nettles soothe scalp irritation and sage provides natural antibacterial qualities."

I couldn't whip up a better batch of hair-soup that promised to help out better myself and thanks to the fabulous people at "Carol's Daughter". I can stay out of the kitchen yet another day. I can't begin to tell you how much I like this company and their products! They are pure, effective, classy, and created by Lisa Price aka "Carol's Daughter" with the utmost concern for not only healing and treating without harsh chemicals but also beautifully! Her roster of celebrity fans is impressive as are her ever-growing and ever-delicious products: "Almond Cookie Shea Souffle", "Jamician Punch Sea Salt Scrub",and her incredible line of hair products for all types of hair have not only kept Lisa in biz, but allowed her to thrive for more than 15 years and to open a flagship store in Harlem, NY in 2005. I love when she says that her "products are still made by hand...just a lot more of them!" I am huge on women-owed businesses and intend to try as much as I can in her amazing line!

Back to the issue at hand: my dead-hair! I started browsing the site after reading SO many reviews that were SO full of praise for the hair products at Carol's Daughter, I started to suspect that something wonderful lurked in those pages that would be my ticket back to beautiful hair. Who could possibly refuse a name like "Mimosa Hair Honey" touted to be a "light styling butter for all types of hair" that promised incredible shine and no split ends? My fingers couldn't hit that "BUY" button fast enough! And the price was so incredible that I seriously wondered how it could be so very highly praised my so many indeed in this current market of ridiculously-priced hair products that contain everything under the sun and promise the moon?

I had the generous (a whopping 8 oz.!) but humble tub of hair honey butter in my hand in no time and it smelled SO damn good when I opened it,I literally got some stuck in my nose! TMI... just an amazingly clean and sweet, sexy and soft smell like nothing before...Did I dare hope it would feel as good? Oh yeah Baby: like BUTTA'!!! A creamy, silky, potion that you only need a small amount of to fix ALL that ails your hair!!! You can use this on wet or dry hair, all over or on the ends, before or after styling...you can't go wrong and can't mess up-it's simply that forgiving and good!

No water in it at all...an infusion of red roses, marigolds, red clover, bright orange, amatto seeds, and esential oils of sweet orange. NO parabens, petroleum, mineral oil or artificial colors...damn, this girl is GOOD!

I'm here to tell y'all in front of the FTC and the world that I won't be without a jar of Carol's Daughter's "Mimosa hair Honey" again! It's truly one of the most delightful and effective hair products I have ever had the immense pleasure of using and you know what?

My hair is soft, shining, looks amazing and sleek, smells so darn good I huff it when I'm typing and is back to it's former glory!!! Mission accomplished and a new fav product found!!! Read the over 100 testimonials on the site and be sure to check out some of the other really superb products they offer while you are there: it's going to take me quite a while to get to the bottom of my hair-honey but Honey, it's going to be a lovely trip!

Do you also have times when you look in the mirror and want to scream? How do you entertain "Aunty Ugly" when she comes to call and fix things up fast?

Buy it here!

I love everything that is Carol's Daughter--it is definitely most popular amongst mixed-race and minority ladies here in Brooklyn and it works on my hair/skin just fine too.. but for someone with fine or stick straight hair, I wouldn't recommend many of the products--they'd just grease you up and make it droop. The skin and body & body products are absolutely divine. Also, Lisa's first store was actually opened in Brooklyn in 1999 and she started creating the line in the 80s when she worked on the Cosby Show--very cool.

I'm always on the fence with Carol's Daughter. My mother & sister love the brand, but I'm a bit unsure. I see raves about the products, but I also see not so good things... like products drying their hair out. I suppose the only way to know for sure is to try it out myself.

Indi-yes, I have heard of using oil to combat oil.  Check out Dr. Haucshka's Normalizing Day Oil, the premise is such that when you put oil on your skin, the bio feedback stops your skin from producing more unnecessary oil.  I use it to help with unwanted redness but now I never even get a little bit oily in my T-Zone.  It's an amazing product, check it out~

Aunty Ugly is a regular visitor now. Seems shes taken up residence at my front door like the paparazzi and pops up when I open the door to leave for work in the morning. BAM! "Hi I'm back" shes screaming at me as I run to the my car, literally run! Fortunately I've learned many tips and tricks and found some fabulous new products that have helped me outrun her. The Hair Honey frizzy rescue definitely is something I can use, and I love that the product has no water in it, I can just imagine it has great hold and isn't as dissolvable as some others I've tried. Thanks Goddess Granny and hope you are dong better!

I ran over Auntie Ugly with my car yesterday. (I got tired of her following me everywhere.) That wench just popped right back up like nothing happened.

I just love it when a company doesn't flood their products with water to make them cheaper, don't you? The products seem to always work better and you're getting your money's worth of fantastic, rich product and not agua. And the fact that you can use it on wet or dry hair is just so nice - one less product to clutter up the vanity. Oh, sorry, I forgot who I was talking to. :) I'll probably just buy something else to take up the space.

I just got a haircut and ordered a big batch of Jessicurl so I'm all out of hair money at the mo. I'll keep this in mind though so I can get hair as nice as a Goddess'!

Aunt Ugly, don't call my relatives's names, after all she can't help the way she was born all. You just have to be nice to her and pamper her a little, that's all she really wants. A little attention, a little moisturizer, a nice fragrant bath and a sweet smelling balm to make a bad day better. I love the Carol's daughter body moisturizers, they smell divine, i tried the hair products and well, oil to oil only ends up like the Exxon Valdeze with my hair. The hair products are just too rich for my hair. But they do smell wonderful.

I am with you --always trying to find small independently owned companies that are owned by women.  I have tried a few of carols daughters products and have not found my Wow one yet but have not tried this one.  I could give you a few other companies to try if you ever want them.  I am on a hair forum and have become a fan of reading and listening to others .....there are so many great companies.  I had tried to purchase online from a certain company (product on my top 3 list on profile) and couldn't get a code to work so i emailed the company. I received a reply email within minutes that included a phone number.  I called and it was the owner and she went over which products she would recommend for me, asked about me, and told me about a few products she was planning on releasing this year.  I was absolutely amazed at how genuine and sweet she was.I love that you guys are trying to stick by some of these companies and hope we continue to ;)

I can't believe that Costco carries this brand, I need to check it out, I always thought I would have to go online to try it out.

Indi i definately think oil to combat oil works, i love the jason natural vitamin e oul (lots of other ladies have found their skin to be alot less oily since using this) the theory is that your skin is only oily because its dehydrated so producing extra oil to compensate-so moisturised skin should be less oily (i used to avoid moisturiser like the plague because i  was so oily i thought it would only make it worse but now i always moisturise and my "oily problem" is no more!)

Aunty Ugly must be eliminated!  OK, so I'm a Jessicurl devotee... although I do try some other lines occasionally.  Like most curly girls, I have a truckload of hair products, because there's always the promise of something really spectacular that will change my life.  Sigh...So anyway, one day at Sephora I picked up a jar of Carol's Daughter's Healthy Hair Butter.  OH YUM!  It's a "creamy hairdress for relaxed or natural hair."  Sounded like it was worth a try - and this creamy wonder does a darn good job.  You just apply a little bit to your hands, rub them together and smooosh over your hair and scalp.  Your curls will be defined and shiny.  And did I mention that it smells great?  Well it does.  It contains essential oils of ylang-ylang, sage, patchouli, bay, and cedarwood.  Whoa!  I'm time-traveling right back to the 60's!

I frequently mix my conditioner with honey.  It leave me hair super shiny, soft, and smells great!  I do not have problems with the frizz so do not know how it would help, especially since you rinse it off.  Honey is cheap and has multiple uses, I also put it on my face as a mask or mix it with sugar and olive oil to make a scrub.I don't think I have hair issues that warrant a product like this, my hair seems to behave itself with just regular old drugstore shampoo and conditioner.
