GETTING TO KNOW YKSMITH! SPOTLIGHT ON YVONNE SMITH!
Name: Yvonne Smith
Age: 42
Vocation: Hearing Officer for Department of Social Services
What is in your purse? Maybelline Stiletto Mascara, Paula's Choice Sheer Perfection Pressed Powder, Smashbox O-Gloss, a small can of Nexxus Comb Thru Hairspray, Keys, Chapstick, Small Comb and Wallet.
Guilty Pleasure: Staying home all day on the weekend wearing my fuzzy pants and watching Lifetime Movie Channel or any of the Real Housewives on Bravo. I also love ice cream and would rather have that for dinner than "real" food.
Skin color, type and any special skin concerns: I have fair skin plagued with rosacea, acne and wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. My eyes have puffy dark bags under them. My skin tends to be oily on the forehead and nose areas and dry on the cheeks.
Beauty inspiration: I love the actresses from the 1960's - Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day, Bridgett Bardot, Raquel Welch and Elizabeth Taylor. They always had the perfect outfits fitted perfectly to their bodies and the perfect makeup and hair. Oh yeah - also Megan Fox - she is just hot.
Top 3 skincare products:
- Clear Regular Strength System Cleanser from Paula's Choice - it has actually helped get some of my acne under control.
- Proactiv Mask - I put a little of this at night on any breakouts that I have and in the morning they are usually gone
- Carmex - I put this on my lips every night before bed to help keep them soft.
Top 3 tools of the trade:
- Mac #22 Eyeliner brush - wonderful for lining my eyes (wet or dry).
- My Kabuki Brush from Bare Escentuals.
- Comb with a steel pick on the end - This works wonderfully for teasing the front of my hair to get volume.
Best beauty secret / tip: I have been putting lotion on my body every night after my shower since I was 21 years old. My skin is very smooth and buttery soft. I am not the only one who notices, my husband says that he loves to give me massages because my skin is so soft!
Three current beauty products you'd like to buy:
- Chi Volumizing Flat Iron
- Clarisonic Skincare Brush
- anything from the Illamasqua Line
Favorite Drugstore Product and why - L'oreal Voluminous Mascara - this is the best mascara that I have found at the price!
Favorite Splurge Item - Smashbox False Eyelashes - They have so many different funky kinds and I just love to put them on and go out for the evening.
If I was on a limited beauty budget I would - eat peanut butter sandwiches for just about all my meals so that I could afford my makeup!!!
Great to get to know you Yvonne! We love it that you have the same "body cream after shower" ritual since you were 21! Pretty consistent!

Nice to meet you Yvonne! Your skin is gorgeous! I do not have an oldest and still going beauty ritual, but maybe thats because I am so ADD with most things. I will stick to something (ie acrylic nails) for a couple months and then get bored and quit it!! Thats how my life goes I guess.
nice to meet you yvonne!!!! peanut butter sarnies for every meal wouldnt be so bad in my opinion!I really should remember to moisturise all over everyday I try to remember but I always seeem to be in a rush and thats one of the things i end up skipping quite alot!

You are one beautiful lady. I must say that you don't look like you are 42. I love Audrey Hepburn! I actually sit around in my pj's and fuzzy slippers on the weekend when I don't have anything going on and watch Audrey movies all day. My faves are Roman Holiday & Funny Face. I've been moisturizing after my showers every night for the last 2 years. You are right, it keeps your skin soft and healthy. Thanks for sharing Yvonne. It was great getting to know you.
Great tip. It's nice to meet you:)
Hi Yvonne. Nice to meet you. Your hair looks fabulous, I love the color! And I wish I put on lotion on my body everyday, but unfortunately I tend to forget about it and suffer through the winter with dry itchy skin. I can't blame anyone but myself :P

In the winter months I moisturize after every shower. My husband can tell how much softer my skin is when I do that, maybe I need to start up again. :) Nice to meet you too, you have gorgeous skin!

Hi Yvonne, I love watching Turner Classic Movies, those beauties are icons, Liz Taylor, Doris Day, Lana Turner, Bridget Bardot AHhhh the list goes on. Your skin looks great, I am hit and miss with body moisturizing, though I do go overboard on my face, I'll fight those wrinkles to the end! LOL
my oldest ritual has to be oatmeal baths. they're great for dry, itchy skin and I've been taking them in the winter since I was 5.

I love my Clarisonic, it's definitely worth a shot if it's not too far out of budget. I'd love to try stuff from Illamasqua too!
You have SUCH a lassic glam about you girl! Gorgeous coloring and I'm so pleased to meet you! :)I'm with you all the way on the Illamasqua,I want it all!!! NOW!!!My oldest ritual would have to be using vaseline on my feet and then going to bed with pink ankle-socks on.Visual not availabel in all areas,LOL!
Nice to meet you! I am a total product junkie, so I don't stay with anything very long. I've got the grass is greener complex. :) However, I love Carmex! I use it everyday.

So great to meet you Yvonne! Other than washing my face every night and toning, I dont really have any long running beauty rituals. I've started using the burts bees foot creme every night when i can remember and going to be with socks on, that's made such a wonderful difference in my feet, love it(when I can remember)!
Congratulations Yvonne!!! My long running beauty ritual since childhood is never going outside without shoes on. I hate being barefoot, even at the beach. I don't normally take my shoes off until I'm getting in the shower, in bed or to put slipppers on. My feet are baby soft. I remember the neighborhood kids would always be barefoot and I would be the only one with shoes. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara is my favorite too. See ya around Meg's.

ive been peeking at illamasqua too!
I'm trying to find all the faults you have with yourself but don't see them--and that photo was taken in the unforgiving light of day! You are lovely! I also enjoy your product choices. As a fellow redhead, I welcome you! God Bless, Gigi
Hi Yvonne! I also have a weakness for Lifetime (I adore the Drop Dead Diva series). I don't really have any really old beauty rituals... except washing my face every night before I go to bed! I've been doing that for years, but I didn't really get into makeup/beauty until now. I'm trying to be better about always wearing sunscreen or makeup with sunscreen in it, and making that a ritual for the future.

Nice to meet you! I am so with you on that weekend in fuzzy pants, Real Housewives thing!
Hello. I love all of those glamorous gals from the 60's. They sure had some VaVaVoom!I love the Housewives for a nice mindless escape for an hour.
Nice to meet you! You certainly don't look 42 :) I have always loved the timeless looks of Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor et. al. - I imagine in my daydreams if I even went to a big awards ceremony they'd be my inspiration for an outfit :)
Its nice to meet you Yvonne :) I am the same on weekends, all I want to do is put on some comfy clothes and watch some TV lol
Mm, I adore peanut butter sandwiches too - and false eyelashes are SO glamorous, I love them! :DGREAT to meet you. ♥
Hi Yvonne, nice to meet you! I'm a Carmex fan too. My longest running beauty ritual would be body lotion too. I've always had dry skin so it's a must for me.

Ivonne, now I want an ice cream. You look gorgeous, I'll have to start using body lotion daily.
My big ritual that I've been keeping up with for the past couple of years, is that even if I'm in a hurry in the morning, I sit down and do my makeup, without rushing. Doing that keeps me calm and I literally feel like I'm putting my best face forward for the rest of the day.
It is wonderful to meet all you lovely ladies. Thank you for the nice comments -- you guys have really made my day!!! :-)
Hello Yvonne! You are just like my sister -- able to maintain a ritual. I'm the exact opposite. I can't keep to a ritual at all. Sometimes I just forget to apply stuff... and I'm always trying new things, so it messes up whatever 'rituals' I was doing at that moment.
I should definitely moisturize everyday whenever I get out of the shower, but I guess I'm too lazy. I really don't have very much beauty rituals. I try to have a decent skin regiment, meaning I cleanser and moisturize every morning and night. I also always try to remember to wash off my makeup at the end of the day, other than that I really don't do much, ritual wise.I love Proactiv's mask too. It's one of the best products out there for drying up blemishes, in my opinion.
I am always amazed at how beautiful our readers are...each in their own unique and FAB way. LOVE the red hair chica. My BFF Adele lotions every day too and she's SO SO soft! I tend to moisturize with my bath products. Still never found anything that keeps me as soft as ALMOND OIL in my bath. LOVE IT!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Hi Yvonne and nice to meet you :) You look gorgeous! I wish I would have the energy and sense to use body lotion on a daily basis, I'm just so lazy. Luckily my skin isn't dry so I guess it's not so bad. And now you made me want to go buy some peanut butter! It's been ages since I had a peanut butter sandwich (it's not very common over here in Finland).
Hi Yvonne! You absolutely look gorgeous! Great tip on using lotion after bathing, I do that too, although not regularly. I gotta keep up!
hey there hot stuff! Nice to meet you. I put body lotion on after every shower too! I have been doing that since I was in junior high school I guess.
I always moisturize my whole body after a shower cause I love the HOT but its soo bad for your skin! How do you like the stiletto mascara?? ive been eyeing it for a while now!
Tan is Love
Wow, you are just so beautiful! I love your hair!I can't believe you have been putting on lotion every day for so long...although it does have some good benefits (like your hubby wanting to give you a rub down). I should really start putting on lotion every day.
Hi Yvonne! That's such a unique name, so old Hollywood sounding. Clarisonic is really worth the money in my opinion. I can't live without it and I can always tell if I skip a day. Go for it! I love peanut butter sandwiches! Especially with a little honey. I may just have to go fix one right now... My oldest beauty ritual is just the basic, boring wash face and brush teeth before bed. Important, but nothing new.
I love carmex, it's the only thing that really works on my chapped lips.
Letita
I also use body lotion everytime after I showered. I've been doing it for years. The other important beauty ritual for me is to always wash my makeup off before I go to bed. No matter how tired Iam, I always wash off my makeup.
I definitely substitute dinner for ice cream, and often. Guilty pleasures ftw! :) I need to get into the habit of regular body lotion, thanks for reminding me! :) Which one do you use?
xoxo
