FTC? YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME? HOW CAN WE INCORPORATE THIS INTO A BRITNEY SONG?
Meg here! I have to address a common email I've been getting-the new FTC blogger guidelines. Here is what they are cracking down on-in a peanut nutshell...
As a result of the evolving level of influence inherent in the social Web, and web in general, the notice incorporates several amendments to the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising and blogging, which address endorsements by consumers, experts, organizations, and celebrities, as well as the disclosure of important connections between advertisers and endorsers. Fines for violating the new rule will run up to $11,000 per incident.
Here's the God Honest Truth-It would hurt Megsmakeup.com way worse than a monetary fee fine to sell Bullshit and tell you ladies to buy something that didn't work. That's the truth. The minute my readers think I am a sell-out is the moment Megsmakeup.com is dead in the water.
Our writers will back me up on this. If they are writing an introductory post (whether it is sponsored with any money or not-believe you me, I wish the economy was better-99.9 percent don't pay a cent) I tell them to be neutral unless they love it. I ask IN THE INTRODUCTORY POST for them to not bash it. There is a lot of competition out there and we have enough members that have received the product that will give their honest opinions. I don't censor our writer's reviews or comments EVER!! It's just not fair to bash a company in the opening post but it is fair game to leave comments after. Sure, when some bitter women wrote "Meg is an idiot and a hag and blah blah." I wanted to delete the comment. I did not. I'm fair game just like any gloss-so I left it.
I don't exactly know, thank-god for MOBFAN what has to be put on the site to clarify the guidelines but here is what's going on...
Are you ever paid to review? Yes, we get paid to spotlight a product. Very VERY FEW. We do not (which is in the company contract) get paid to endorse. They are paying for advertising. The reviewers that get sent the product 99.9% of the time do not know who has paid anything and who has not. This keeps us honest as I have said... We do not censor and are honest.
They are paying for brand awareness and the link. 9 times out of ten no one is paying anything. If you have ideas on how to make it 7 or 8 times out of 10 please email me!
Why does this FTC thing piss you off Meg? It pisses me off because I am honest and I use any money earned to keep the company alive and pay for perks for our members. Those Fabulous Make-Up Points? Yeah, the postage doesn't pay for itself. If you are going to scrutinize me then please go after every fashion magazine out there. They sell advertisements and pay for a large staff and fancy offices. What the Hell are their guidelines? If I have ever told you to buy something that didn't work then I welcome you to email me. I never "endorse" something unless it rocks my socks off.
I am pissed off because I would not lie to you. A) (I was not paid by the Vatican for this statement) Catholic guilt may be the worst out there. B)(I am not being paid by my parents) My parents used to encourage me to lie to them!
My Parents: Whose ciggs are those? Where were you last night? Why didn't you call?
Meg: Those are my ciggs, I didn't call because I was drunk. I really liked this guy and it wasn't really going anywhere. Around 11:30 he started to laugh at my jokes and seemed to really like me. So then I had some wine. We hooked up and I think he might call me. How long are you going to ground me for?
So I had to stay in for the entire spring break. It was Hell. You think I'm going to start lying now?
I have openly spoke about my trouble with alcohol, depression, divorce, my parents-really everything. How big will those checks be?
I think it sucks that I have to justify making a living. Like I must be some sort of snake oil salesman to have the right to have money come in on what I work my ass off on everyday.
So what do you think? Do you think I would really sell you out? Ugh. What long term strategy would it be for me to be known as bought?

thanks for clearing up this issue!
I know for a fact that there are magazines the will only cover an event product if you buy an ad. I like the system that Meg created here. In many ways you have helped companies by giving them feedback from your readers writers. I work in the film biz and the PRESS SCREENINGS are ALWAYS FREE. There are no critics that pay to see the films they review...
I'm backing Meg 1000% here. Not one word of mine has been censored, and I have no idea what Meg thinks of my critiques and never have. In discussions they are never mentioned. She may hate what I post and I am unaware. We are not to "sugar-coat" the truth but to be kind and polite about what we don't like (that is called common courtesy). The reason I am at Meg's is because I wrote for a site where everything was perfect all the time and I was annoyed--everything does not work wonderfully all of the time. For Heaven's sake, I look at magazine promotions for some products I've critiqued and am overwhelmed at the thought of how much they must cost, but I have written you in an amiable manner that they don't work so that you don't spend your hard-earned money on empty promises and fancy packaging. I love how the readers of this site will tell me exactly what they think; thank you! Like Meg, we want the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I also know from my stint at another site that Meg works more than her head off for a pittance. The makeup points amaze me and I don't know how she does it. I recall once asking her why she started the site. She wanted a candid review about a concealer, I believe (sorry if I'm wrong, Megan) and could not find anything trustworthy on the Web so she did it herself. This is a tough business, but I view it from every angle and it is honorable, always honorable. Kudos, Meg!
Noooooo!!!!!! Never sell out MEG!!!!WHAT I LOVE about this site is that's its not all.. Oh this company paid us or sent us product therefore we must say it is a good product! NO NO NO!!!None of the writers have ever trash talked a product, if it's not that great, its simply that, not that great! And that information is GOLDENPlus they restrict what you say... we stop taking interest in the site all the lovely companies lose their advertisement and valuble information!!Don't Do it! Please!!

As a writer for MMU, we are encouraged to be honest. I know that none of my reviews have been censored and Meg always tells us to tell the truth, good, bad or ugly. This is the reason I kept coming to this site before I was writing for her. I wanted the truth, not some candy coated fairytale.Yes, Meg, count me to be behind you on this. I can't believe FTC is sticking their head into this too.Any help you need, let us know. I am sure everyone on this site will help anyway they can.

Meg, I have no doubts about you whatsoever. That's why so many of us read MM religiously. I think you are absolutely upfront, honest, funny, and smart. Not to mention gorgeous. But ANYWAY... this is about the only place where we can get unbiased reviews of products that we have either never heard of before (but now want) - or products we have been tempted to plunk down our hard earned money on. I may not always agree with the reviewers, but there's enough give and take on people's responses, that I can get a fair assessment. And then it's up to me to make the decision about whether or not it's for me. So, don't let the bastids (ftc) get you down. They're just trying to make sure there's a level playing field. They don't know you the way we do!Love ya,
Carole
I love this site because it is so honest! With other blogs and especially youtube, it can be hard to tell what's for real. Some people are so obviously just shilling! Your site is an example to all, and you didn't need laws to get there!
I agree with you. I watch a lot of product reviews and such on YouTube and sometimes it is hard to tell if a vlogger is suggesting a product because they really love it, or because they have to. It's frustrating.
Thank your for keeping your integrity! Sometimes this is a rare, invaluable characteristic.Keep up the honesty.
I feel for you Meg. As a fellow blogger (who might start reviewing beauty products), I think it's really overkill. Celebrities who "use" certain products (probably supplied to them for free!) aren't required to disclose that in magazines. Magazine "beauty award winners" aren't necessarily chosen by their virtues--but rather because the magazine is affiliated with certain cosmetic/beauty companies [the Makeupalley forums are always going on about this!].Honestly, it would be one thing for the FTC rules to apply to EVERYONE (celebrities, magazines, blogs, etc.) but it DOESN'T. Yes, people are looking more and more at blogs for info, but like anything else on the internet, it should be taken with a grain of salt. While I like knowing who received what for free or was paid to promote it, it honestly does not affect my perception of that blog or that review. But the disclosure guidelines sound like big companies are trying to crack down on bloggers.

hmm, i havent been reading for a long time due to my busy graduate school schedule... but this is article is really good and relates also to many fashion and makeup bloggers! i like your analogy to glossy magazine- we pay 3 bucks for 100 pages of ads and noone seems to care, yet blogs are criticisized often even for getting a sample from a company. i think you are doing a great job, and all reviews seem to be honest to me, and since many members participate i am sure someone will call out on a product if its really crappy. i like to see both negative and positive reviews- i feel like i get both sides on this blog, and that is all i need :)
hmmmmm....I feel like i stepped into this halfway through the movie. Why is the FTC bothering with your blog? Don't they have enough other things to dip themselves into? I don't care if you get paid to spotlight an item--we get to say what we want/feel about the item whether you get paid or not.I also don't care if the ladies who are posting your "spotlight" items are getting paid--they are drawing our attention to the product---it's like product placement in your local supermarkets--How do you think the "kiddie" cereals always end up getting put at eye level (kid's eye level--not ours). and special K is always at our eye level. Someone is making sure that these items are getting "placed" there but it is still our decision on which cereal to buy. Your spotlight is shining on products but it is still our decision to look at their sites and then to buy their products. I always wait to hear what the other girls are saying anyhow. I wish they would find some other people to pick on! It's really a shame--maybe you can say that this is not a blog but a gossip column on makeup...LOL!Good Luck and if you need me to write or sign a petition please let me know and i'm sure alot of the others on here would be willing to help as well ;)
I really don't understand what the big deal is, I mean, we all know that beauty editors at magazines are going to give the best ratings and the most ink to submissions from the companies who buy the most advertising. Since that's not the case here, I mean it doesn't work that way when you post comments from everyone and anyone, without editing. Some people will love a product, some will not, but you have no control over whether they do and if so or if not, what they say about it. It's really too bad when you have to deal with this for just trying to make a living by doing something you love. I for one, although I don't know you, except through this forum, feel that you are a very honest and straight-forward person, and I agree, it wouldn't be worth it for you to be a sell-out, no one would listen to what you had to say, and then how long would you have a forum in which to say it?
I never really got the vibe that you were being paid to endorse products. Every review I have read is witty and personal with real reviews on products. I think you are doing a fantastic job, I've never actually thought how much of my hard earned money is paying for advertising in magazines! How outrageous. I want to know the good, the bad and the ugly and this fantastic place is the best forum to do that. I know I always comes to Megs to see if I can get info on a product first.
Meg, I think that you are doing a great job, and I love the way you run the site. I am so glad that you aren't going to sell out. I was never under the impression that you were being paid to endorse products either.
Ditto on "cac" comment. I love coming to megsmakeup mafia and what I like best about you and all your writers is your genuineness. Genuine people are a rarity these days. I'm honest to a fault and when I review anything it doesn't matter if my sister invented it, if it's shabby, then it's shabby.I have three sisters and one is super plastic not only in her personality, but also her mega-tons of plastic surgery. Despite the fact that I loath her, I still tell people how fabulous her pottery is, because it is & believe me there are no perks! So anyway, the FTC and my shabby-NOT-chic sista can eat sh_t!!!

Wow, I've never read an article and thought that it was censored, or that you were getting paid to pitch a product. I first found this site because I was looking for unbiased reviews on a certain product, and found it on this site, that is what has kept me here. You're doing an excellent job, while holding strong to your ethics. Keep up the good work!
You're an amazing woman Meg. You stand out from the entire crowd of bloggers in an ever-growing ocean of them - honestly they're popping up everywhere!I would never think you're being bought. You're way too honest and you don't put on false airs and graces - we love the site because we love your philosophy and approach to beauty and everything being a strong woman involves in 2009 and beyond. Power to you. ♥
Meg, there are people in history that do what they love just bc they love it or feel it is a calling to them. There are so many people that jump threw hoops for some slurry and then there are those who do not. There are those that do what they love and do not intend to do it any other way. Shall we examine a few? Florence Nightengale, she knew she was destined to be a nurse, Georia O'Keefe, she knew she was destine to be an Artist, Mother Theresa, she believed she was called by God, many, myself included, believe she was too,we talk about these people and know who they are bc THEY BELIEVED their life was suppose to be about something and society agreed. My Lovely Meg, You have many that love and believe in you, however, you're not always going to be loved by all. The people that do love you will be faithful the people that don't love you will call you names and be nasty. Be true to yourself. You have a calling. You're meant to be Megs Make Up, this is what you've wanted, this is what you've gone for. You would not sell us out bc you're true to yourself and your love, just as Georgia O'keefe was true to her art. There are very few people who know what they are here for. You're very fortunate.
I know you wouldn't give fake reviews of products Meg, that's why I love this site!
http://www.beautifullyglossy.blogspot.com
If I for one minute thought you were being paid to give positive reviews I would long since have stopped reading these posts. What would the point be in giving glowing reviews all the time, if people go out, try the products and are disappointed? Your credibility would drop like a rock.If anyone ever accuses you of being paid to endorse a product, let them come here and I'm sure they will not bother you again. *sound of piranhas*
I absolutely agree! There wouldn't really be a point in the reviews if people would then feel they have been "tricked" somehow. I love reading all the reviews and am very happy to have find this place (although my wallet/credit card isn't ;) ).
Meg,I'm one of many who appreciates your honesty, forthrightness and exuberance.I believe you've never forced anyone's hand to buy a product, and your writers have never over exaggerated their experience of a product's performance. And aside from that, we still have our own discretion to go by. Reviews are simply one or a few person(s) thoughts--that isn't to say a review is fact for all. We're all well-informed, intelligent, beautiful women here. I'm on your side.
http://ediblelove.wordpress.com/
this is by far the most genuine make up review blog/site i've seen , i love the reviews, it's fun and good to have a piece of mind before purchase. I don't think the FTC laid out a very good solid guideline, they're basing their rules on preferences, a very subjective matter //;just because one person didn't like a product it doesn't mean everyone hates it.. the reviewer can genuinely like it and introduce this product to everyone else and people may or may not like it. and whether we buy it or not is solely up to us..I don't see how they can just pick out a site and pinpoint it for endorsement??? very bias fellas.. bad hair day?
Lily =o)http://lazyscorner.blogspot.com/
We love you (and all the MMU writers) just as you are, and BECAUSE you give it to us straight. Stick to your guns, babe :)
I love this site and its reviews. I have never felt that any product was being "pimped" due to a paid endorsement. I like that the reviews are informative and give real life interpretations of how the product works. Also if one aspect of the product is not as nice as others that is disclosed as well. I have purchased several products based on reviews from this site and I have not been disappointed. I think this is a case of everyone is being punished because of some bad apples out there.
I am in total agreement with everyone else. This is one of VERY FEW beauty sites that actually tells it like it is. I've never felt like something was being "pushed" on me due to a paid agreement. I honestly don't think that you would ever be able to accept a "bribe" (because that's what it really is) and live with that knowledge everyday. That's not you, Meg. You are a strong woman who just wants to help other women in their search for great beauty products. The reviewers give us their honest opinions, good or bad and then it's our choice (we are grown women here) if we want to buy that product or not. I'll stand by you Meg just like everyone else here. If we ever thought you were a "fake" we would have been gone long ago. Here's to Meg and the wonderful, honest site she has built to unite us all!
I'm coming in late to the party, but let me add my wholehearted agreement. I've never been censored, except by myself. By that I mean, I will sometimes go easy on a new line or a product that does not suit me but will probably work well for others. But Meg has never written me after I've submitted a piece to ask me to go lightly or to rave. Never. Nobody can please everybody, every time, but I do believe that Meg tries, constantly, to make this a welcoming place for honest exchange of opinions and reviews. I like that, and it's what keeps me coming back. Do I agree with everything posted? Of course not, and that is what the comments sections are for. It's a good system, and it works.
...reading and considering carefully here. What I am starting to "see" in many situations isn't the "reality" as yet another government-agency claims but rather a potential source of funds for their coffers. They are going to be looking at ANY available souce of revenue and you my Darlin' girl, your number simply came up.I know of MANY small biz-owners who are being targeted in many ways and it's all about getting more money from you. They don't really care one bit about "success" or that you employ people or that you go out of your way to do it "by the book:" all they care about is that POSSIBLY there is a loophole they can nail your fine-ass for and make you pay.Sorry to sound cynical but after 55 years,I have seen a lot and am disgusted by the way that things like this target those who are truly doing what the "American Dream" suggests by making something out of basically nothing.I LOVE this site and Meg...I've had quite a few lucrative offers bounce on my doorstep in the past couple of years simply because I seem to be in the right place at the right time and haven't been interested: I'd rather write a few reviews here and there for Meg simply because I believe in her,in the way she does biz,and in the fact that this truly IS a place without snarkiness, without judgement, and most of all WITH a hefty dose of honesty in all of it's incarnations! It is my home. They need to go after the ones who ARE messing with the rules and leave the "good girl's" alone.HUGS!
I can tell you in all sincerity every review I have given has represented my honest thoughts about every product I have talked about. I absolutely could not be a reviewer if Meg wanted me to say I liked everything! My integrity would not be solid and my word would be BS and that's just not how I operate. I feel bad sometimes when I have to honestly say I'm not a fan of something Meg sends to me but I have to be true to myself and to everybody that reads what I write! I also came to this website because I loved that people were so up front about their opinions here! I personally look up reviews on vast items from makeup to furniture because I want to know if something really is going to work, be a quality product, or is a waste of my money! I can honestly say you will never hear any BS from me about anything! The cool thing is every product works differently on different people and that's what we look for - how do products of any kind work on somebody that's like us??? I have never had any idea how or where Meg gets her products - have never even thought about it. Meg has stressed with us that we be honest even if it might hurt the product in question. It's so much easier to randomly pick up a product ourselves that comes out in our local stores and write whatever we want about it since we paid for it ourselves and are not worried about offending the maker of the product since they are already successful in just having their product out there on store shelves! The difficult part is trying the products Megs sends to us and maybe not liking it and having the courage and integrity to tell you all that we personally didn't like it! I'm sorry to hear that the FTC blogger guidelines is yet another crappy outbreak in the lovely complexion that is Megsmakeup.com The other thing is that no matter what we say and what you read; all of you will form your own opinions on the things you buy - we are just here to perhaps give you some guidance and bring a fun warm spot to your day! I don't get paid to say anything about any product - I just tell you what happened to me when I used it and hope it's helpful to you in some small way! As the Jonas Brother's song lyric says..."Now's the time to let the whole world know you can shine bright but still keep it real!" A product can cost a lot of money and have fantastic shiny packaging and be hyped up every single day when you watch TV and read the magazine ads but if I get to try it and it doesn't really do anything for me, I'm keeping it real and telling you just that! Thanks everybody for your daily support of Megs!
Jeanasina!
Meg, if I wrote in Chinese (which would be impressive, n'est pas?) about the mismatched socks I wore to my spin class last week while everyone else was throwing in their two cents about the great new shampoo that Sweetassgal was reviewing you would print it. Now, qvc? They censor everything. Don't like the product? Can find it for a better price? Didn't do what it was supposed to? They will refuse to post the review. Since Meg doesn't edit, my ranting will now show up. I love my megs and look forward to the daily postings.
Meg I love your website just the way it is! I don't ever get the impression you are being paid to promote something, just honest reviews of products, some lower priced, some higher-priced items. With the new FTC beauty blog rules, I just feel it's the government's way of taking over yet another part of America. I don't see why they can't just leave honest bloggers alone, and if there is an issue with a few bloggers being dishonest, then crack down on those few people, not everyone as a whole. And there is so much dishonest advertising going on in magazines and on TV, why can't they do anything about that if they feel they need to do something? I mean, some claims by companies are so ridiculous, I can't imagine who would believe it. But blogs and Meg's in particular are a really good way to get honest opinions about beauty products so you can decide for yourself if something is right for you. I'll for sure be reading this website forever. :)

<<Broken record here>> but I am a reviewer of products and I have never had even a comma changed in my posts! They are totally honest and unbiased. Plus, it's the baby products I'm reviewing, so you KNOW I'm going to be straight because why would I lie about a product and potentially harm a baby? Come on! This is a great site, it's honest and people love it for that. FTC can lay off.
The reason why I am on this site is we get honest reviews from supportive woman. It is so obvious that this site is one of a kind and that's what sets it apart from others and makes it work. Meg you are a amazing woman and you inspire woman all over the world. Forget all this nonsense and don't buy into any of it. We know what kind of site we are on ( a honest unbiased one!) and that's why were all here. Artcandy
♥Robyn♥
hmmm... I know the links on the left are probably paid advertising. There are no irritiating pop-ups, we get reviews (not all the time raves, and never pitches) from real users. And we get the products to try out as well! Isn't this one of the best websites out there??
One of the reasons that I like this site so much is that you can tell that everything on here is genuine. Never have I been reading on here and wondered how much someone got paid to say this product was fab and that product was okay. Your site is totally honest, which is rare, but wonderful. Anyone who spends any amount of time reading posts on here knows that all the reviews give their honest opinion, if something sucks, you guys aren't afraid to tell us to pass. It's refreshing, really.
Meg, you do a fantastic job providing all of us with the wonderful place that is Meg's Makeup! We love it here and I don't think anyone could do it better. Keep up the good work, we totally appreciate it!
Indi
I for one have to say I am COMPLETELY incensed at the thought of this. Megs is our bright shining light and to have the FTC come in and even remotely THINK to accuse us of falsity makes my blood boil. None of us featured writers get a dime (lots of free product to test...yes...and I also buy my own to review as well...is the FTC going to reimburse me for that? Think not) and we do it for the sheer love of makeup, the written word and to share this love with you wonderful MMU participants. I worked a very, very, very long day yesterday then came home and made homemade enchiladas. I was exhausted by 9:00 but I have a commitment to MMU and so I sat down and wrote my gods honest opinion about today's Green Chi Tuesdays for Tarte Lifted Natural Primer. Did I love it...yes I did. Did I say it was perfect... no I did not. I spent several hours last night, away from my family and out of my comfy bed, writing an honest and heartfelt post like I do every week because that's where my heart is. Not my wallet. I know this sounds extremist but should Meg be slapped with a fine like this I would be on the next plane to LA to testify for her that we are the real deal. Would I like to get paid to write...HELL YES...would I do it without the paycheck...YOU'RE DAMN SKIPPY I WOULD! It would be no different if I was a featured writer for a fashion mag...are they being scrutinized? Should Meg be hindered for trying to make a living? I've met Meg...she loves her Chanel bag but also sported the CUTEST $10 pink floral heels our last day at the Madonna Inn. She's not in this for big bucks or to scam anyone...she truly loves us. And I'd fight tooth and nail against anyone who would claim otherwise.Think we're phony...I'll set up a skype cam in my house the next time I'm trying on two different products in my jammies and jotting down my honest opinion for next weeks column. It ain't pretty...and neither is the truth. But that's what we deal in here at Megs...the truth. I for one believe our readers are smart enought to tell us...the real deal...from the fakers and liars out there. Maybe the FTC needs to take a few tips from our readers! WE LOVE YOU MEG...keep it up and we will follow!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
going along with what everyone has said......i have never ...NOT ONCE...been under the impression that meg or this site was pushing products based on bribes/payments, etc....this site has been a 'diamond in the rough' if you will.....somewhere to actually get unbiased, tried & true experiences from posters just like me...in the real world...where i can actually KNOW how others feel about a product ..with so many options out there....this information is much more vital than adverts we see EVERYWHERE... "my product is the best because...." keep it up meg...all the writers...& all the reviewers!

I know that a lot of ladies have said this before me, but I come to Megsmakeup for the unbiased opinions on the products we review. I know you would never sell us out, Meg, because for the years I've been coming here, the proof is in the pudding. Never once have I see an infomercial in print. There are a lot of product reviews that are products that you picked up yourself on a weekend and were happy/unhappy with, so you decided to share. Companies who pay you are paying for the exposure, not censorship, which they understand when they submit a product to Megs. I know this because I worked for a company that submitted here. Megs wrote a simple straight forward review and tossed the ball to the Megheads for opinions. We didn't always get glowing opinions, but we understood that was the case and still got business from having submitted. All in all, it was a great enough experience that they recently resubmitted another product. Also, personally, I don't have the money to spend on inferior products that don't live up to their claims. I need the things I buy to be worth the money, and Megsmakeup makes that happen for me. I know this will never change!
I back you up Meg on this one! I love this site because you get it as it is and I've never felt that any of the reviewers here are pushing us to buy every single product featured. All the reviews are genuine and I truly believe that. I would have left this site if I thought otherwise but I don't!
I've never been under the impression that megsmakeup.com was pushing a particular product. I've taken the products listed as informational and personal reviews. I really like this site and the honesty from all the members.
I'm going to agree with all the ladies about feeling every review was honest and helpful on this site. I'm still not totally clear on what FTC is after, but I know another makeup blog I read has started marking her posts with whether the product was a media sample or one she purchased on her own. I'm not sure if that is all you ladies need to do, but I certainly wouldn't want this blog to get in trouble!
Meg! I love this site! I hope no one hurts you and gets you in trouble for this. I can tell that all the reviews are honest, and that you're definatly working your amazing butt off to get us those products, and those gifts! I wish you all the best..ps. I don't think you're a hag ... (:
Meg your site is so great. I don't think you would sell out! Some people may have reactions to different products, but I completely trust your judgement. THanks for the amazing site and keep up the great work!
Hmm these guidelines might have a chilling effect on product reviews in blogs. That does not sound good at all. At all.
I am so blessed to be a part of Megs, I enjoy the camaraderie andI am here because I want to know what others honestly think, and if I can give some of that "honesty" back...then I am a happy woman. I enjoy this site immensely! It amazes me what others will do to twist the truth and make attempts to ruin a good thing...amazes me, NO...it pisses me off! The longer I sit here and read and think the madder it makes me.I work hard for my money and I don't have cash to waste, I want to read what others think of a product, not what some Ad tells me in some flipping magazine. I value what I read and I am very conscientious about what I write. I hope everything works out.
There are so many of us who visit MMU everyday for the comradery, honest reviews, tips, tricks, and friendships that have sprung from this. You DO NOT have to justify yourself to us Meg and those that do need that from you have not visited your site or read your words or obviously are not interested in makeup, and therefore we have no use for them. I know that you don't receive many rewards for the efforts you put out and thats just crap Meg! There are so many other services that give me less laughs, advice, knowledge, and friendship than I do from here! They should be the ones receiving less money. Ha ha could you see that. "Yes, I'm not paying for that eyebrow wax this month because, well, you didn't really show me any new products or rope me in with an enticing story line. We"ll try again next month..." Thank you Meg for all that you do. I sincerely hope this doesn't deter you from keeping MMU going :)
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
There is a reason all of the Megheads feel something so special when they spend time at Megsmakeup.com. The sincerity, honesty, integrity and 'come as you are approach' is not only palpable but quite frankly, addicting. That is not something that can be falsified. It is an honor and a blessing to be able to share my thoughts and opinions with all of you and it's a true privilege to hear yours as well. Within this type of forum, your integrity is really all you have and mine is simply non-negotiable (none of ours is). Meg has always made it very clear that we must share our true experiences. Here's the deal: Like attracts like and we are all united in our efforts to make MMU a place where we can all be ourselves, where authenticity is not only encouraged but totally rewarded. Clearly, they are barking up the wrong tree.... We are with you Meg, all the way.....
What a great comment! This really sums things up for me, thanks stylemama - you have such a beautiful way with words. :]"Like attracts like and we are all united in our efforts to make MMU a place where we can all be ourselves, where authenticity is not only encouraged but totally rewarded."
