BUTTER LONDON BRITISH RACING GREEN! I SEARCHED FOR THE SEASON'S GREEN AND I FOUND IT!
Meg here! I hope you all had a festive and safe Halloween. Being an adult without children I hit the West Hollywood Halloween Carnivale and it was a total freak show. I mean total freak show in the best, most entertaining way. I live in WeHo so it's not like I'd have it any other way. It's so nice to live in a town where it's not a total stretch to say that you feel normal amongst the neighbors.
Where else could I live where 4,000 men dressed as Lady Gaga is just par for the course?
Eleni and I hit the beauty supply stores in search of the perfect Green nail polish. I didn't feel like dressing up this year. There are two types of girls in this world. There are the ones that can't wait all year to have an excuse to dressy trashy. Trashy nurse, trashy cop, trashy nun. Then there are the girls that dress like fuzzy bears or condiments or just choose to not parade their lady bits on display. I don't need a holiday to dress like either a fuzzy bear or to parade my lady parts around. I try to be spontaneous like that.
Green nail polish, while being this season's hottest nail shade is even harder to find on Halloween. I didn't want a mossy color or God forbid-a neon one. I wanted a dark, deep and in-demand dark dollar bill green! Thank-you Butter London for hitting the nail on the head with British Racing Green.
Who else loves British Racing Green? Oh, you know, little magazines like Vogue. Yup, the Devil in Prada is sporting some green. Don't like Vogue? A few other small rags are also touting this as the "It" girls color- W Magazine, Lucky, Ladies Home Journal, People Stylewatch, Redbook and Megsmakeup.com (thought I would throw that in there.)
British Racing Green is hand mixed and is a deep hunter green. It's the color that was all over the runways and it's the international motor color of Great Britian. Fun Fact-Before Formula One race cars had sponsorship-they were all painted in this racing hue! If your guy likes cars then knowing this tid-bit can get his motor running. How smart are you? A nail polish color that's also a manly man conversation starter? Well cheerio!
I love British Racing Green the most for fall and especially into the holidays. I'm in decent company, apparently Rihanna, Miley and The always "It" Kate Moss feel the same way!

I love this color! I have had a hankering for the ever elusive NARS Zulu but since it is nowhere to be found or exorbitantly priced, this one will definitely satisfy my deep green fetish!
I absolutely love the green in the OPI Espana collection (don't remember the name but I have it on my toes right now!) It's really deep and almost black so you can hardly tell it's green in certain light. I like the subtlety of it a lot.
i love green but it never seem like a good colour on my lids or my nails i haven't worn nail polish since my year 10 formal, mainly because i can't stand the smell, and my budgie seems to have some sort of foul reaction to it when i apply nail polish, very strange. but i do love emerald jewels!

In my book, British racing green is a gorgeous colour for cars but...I don't really need to enhance the fact that I can be a real witch at times. :P Honestly though, I'm always going: 'Oh, cool nails!' Then I try the colour on myself and it just never looks half as good. I think you need to feel comfortable with wearing nail polishes, in order to carry a colour like this off. Though, I will see if I can find a bottle here in Sweden since it would make the perfect Christmas gift for my sister, who loves everything green. :)
I was never able to stand "unusual" nail colors on my own nails. The bolder I go is black, but blue, yellow, orange are all out of question. I like bold on my makeup but somehoe I just won't feel so good with colors like those on my nails.... They look great on other people, though...
Ohh that looks like a gogeous green! I have only seen the bright fluro ones which just look a wee bit tacky (especially when worn by a 13 year old with orange fake tan).
It's a beautiful colour. I usually don't wear dark colours on my nails, that would make me look like an evil witch, but I like them on my toes.
I would try the green on my toes (where I tend to be adventerous) with a sheer, simmery silver on top. BTW, if OPI by Sephora would do this color I would stand in line for it. The OPI for Sephora line is better than OPI for OPI and I can't even imagine why.
mmm not sure,is it flattering on?? I have a feeling it will look too dark on me since i am pretty fair.i love wearing green cloths, wearing green es.. but nails?? Spose you got to give it a try first. Thanks@:)
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
LOVE "Butter" polishes, have worn them for months now...great texture, coverage, and brush...Got this shade a while back (I think it's currently on BO?) and yes,it's perfect on my toes, wouldn't do on my fingers but that's just me. :)I think it's current and fun to change your polish colors frequently and it's so easy to change your mind,LOL!This is just about perfect.Butter always has the BEST colors,IMO! YOu have ot get used to the square bottle and I always run a dab of Vaseline around the top edge when closing up to prevent stickies...Bet it was gorgeous on you!
I've been eyeing this since you linked the b-glowing website, but with darker polishes I always like a professional manicure cause I tend to get a little sloppy.. perhaps if I don't find the perfect deep shade of green at my local spa I'll spring for this..or ask for it for Christmas!

That is such a beautiful green! I saw a Wet N Wild polish called Morbid at Walgreens a while back and wanted it. I didn't buy it that day but when I went back a few weeks ago they were sold out. Checking other stores I didn't have much luck finding it either. I plan to go to Ulta next weekend so maybe I will find something there. While I don't usually paint my fingers due to all the typing I do at work I like to have pretty toes. Every once in a blue moon I will paint my fingers and I'm sure even with my pale skin this would look great on me.
i thought zoya envy was going to be a lovely green shade b/c thats how it looked on the site. but it's too dark and vampy. almost looks black. glad it was free during that zoya twitter promotion!

China Glaze's Gussied Up Green is my favorite green -- dark and shiny with just a hint of glint. Yummy.
That looks pretty in the bottle, but on me, I don't think it would work. I always have problems with dark colors, unless it's a dark pink or dark red. Anything else tends to look icky on me.

This is a great color! It would have gone quite nicely with my woodland fairy costume this Halloween (for the record, it was NOT a "sexy" costume; I really enjoy Halloween and go all out with the cotume and make up; last year I was a zombie). OPI has a nice looking green in its new collection celebrating Spain. The color is Here Today Aragon Tomorrow. I haven't seen in "in person" but it looks to be a nice, deep shade.I don't paint my nails, much, but I would consider using this color!
I'm a lover of all things green. I just picked up a fantastic shade of green made by OPI called, Here Today....Aragon Tomorrow. It's beautiful, deep and tres chic! Plus, when used in conjunction with their top coat it has magnificent staying power! Great for any fall/winter occasion. I would love to see WeHo on Halloween! Meg, the fact that you fit in there is why we all fit in so beautifully here. XOXO
I love nail polish and I love love love OPI. Ever since I stared using them I don't buy any other polish brand. If you use the base coat and top coat their color stays on very well. You can also reapply the top coat every few days for longer staying power. I must check this out. I didn't even know green was the in color. I've let my fashion mag issues pile up and now I'm so last season.

I love this color in the bottle however I'm not too sure how it would go with my gross skin tone!!
I first read the green nail polish trend in Allure over the summer, July maybe. They gave several examples but the one I fell in love with was OPI Big Green Grape, which is a tad too light for fall. I was checking out the Butter line after seeing a video about them on youtube, and I love their colors! I am switching to water-soluble nail polish that doesn't require solvent based remover. I am on a mission to grow my own beautiful, long, natural nails and giving up regular polish is part of the program. I am having terrific success with a great new product that is actually making them grow FASTER! Anyone else who's interested in finding out about this all natural product that speeds nail growth, check out my forum post in makeup tips, tricks and all talk:http://megsmakeup.com/forums/natural-nail-growth-product-really-worksThere is also a link in there to the all natural water based polish company too! Great for the environment and even better for NAILS!

Have you tried a water-soluble polish yet? Wouldn't they come off in water then, like when you wash your hands? I've slowly been switching my products over to things that are non-toxic. :)
http://www.rubysbeauty.com
I found this in response to the toxin's questions about Butter London. They are a non-toxic company. The use of toxic chemicals in nail products has long been the standard in the USA. Many beauty companies have built successful businesses on this unmonitored practice. The cost of using Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP is cheap. The cost to your health might not be. The three chemicals Fomaldehyde, Toluene and DBP can cause cancer, birth defects, respiratory problems, neurological damage, the list goes on. BUTTER LONDON DOES NOT USE THESE INGREDIENTS AND IS NON-TOXIC
I agree with with mjsred...I own this color, but it goes on my toes, only, not my fingers. Butter makes the best polishes, with the most unique, sophisticated colors. Unfortunately, my nail tech absolutely hates the bulky, rectangular polish caps, and pitches a fit whenever I bring in a Butter polish. :-(
I think their bottle caps are already detachable. Maybe your nail tech could try removing that bulky rectangular cap so it will be easier for her! ;)
I am giving my nails at least a month with no polish at all, just the treatment, which is an ointment you rub in to the nail bed. I think the Honeybee polish stands up fairly well to regular water exposure. I've read that it tends to wear off the tips instead of chipping, and is very easy to retouch. They make their own remover (odor-free!), but in a pinch one can use vodka with a touch of olive oil on a cotton pad. I'm just reiterating what I've read on their websitehttp://www.honeybeegardens.com/product/natural-cosmetics/npwcne.html They also make a peel-off polish for kids, or if you only want the color on for a day or so. That way you can avoid the damage of having to use any remover at all. I'll keep you posted about my personal experience with Honeybee as soon as I am ready to move from treatment alone to polish. The Natural Growth Formula has brought about such amazing changes in the condition of my natural nails that I'm not quite ready to cover them up with polish yet. They are so healthy pink with white tips and moons, I can't believe I'm looking at my own hands.

I've never heard of Butter before. Where've I been? I love the color, but already know it won't go on me. I bought a gorgeous dark green polish from Sally Hanson's 1 minute dry line, used it on my toes - and as much as I loved the color, looking down and seeing it on my toe nails kept freaking me out. OK, and my husband hated it. Maybe I'm just too old for this, but I wanted to be just like you cool kids! I ended up giving the nail polish to a friend with a teenage daughter. I only use deep colors on my toes. I'm a fan of the pale shades on my fingers, since my nails are short and have a tendency to chip, peel, etc. I really do like Nailtini combos for my fingers. I'm still using the Sally Hanson nail growth stuff that Gigi wrote about recently. It's helping a lot!

Perfect for fall and perfect for the holidays! I love getting festive around Christmas, but without a tan, red nail polish just looks awful on me. Now, I can go green, be very 'in' and totally festive at the same time. Yay for multi-tasking!
I would love love love to put this on my toes. Maybe my fingers too, but I'm prone to chipping and it would look terrible. Beautiful color!
Oh green! And dark green! I adore that colour. Must get that nail polish (or something very similar). I've been wearing dark blue and having a very blue period in clothing and eye shadows as well, which is so weird because I never used to wear blue. But I guess it must have something to do with my red hair. I'm thinking of changing my hair colour though so I'm sure I will fall out of love with blue soon enough. I'm like that, always changing my mind about everything.
I've never heard of the company before but I'd deff give it a try - I can't stress enough how much I love out-of-the-ordinary colors on my nails. (aside from the usual pink, nude, red... bleh.) Its sad, I own at least a hundred bottles of polish, if not more, and I never use them. I have two bottles at my dorm but an entire box at home. My nails have been naked for a good four months now, and only got painted twice recently. (Once because I had an "oh no i might meet the parents" scare with my significant other, and again because I just had to try matte polish.) I kind of like getting them done by someone else better.. but I would rather do them myself and save the money for (you guessed it) more makeup. It would be awesome if my boyfriend doubled as a nail tech. :/

Love it! Nail polish is my obsession, and the perfect dark green is so hard to find. I've never been a fan of Butter London's bottles - the caps used to not close properly. I heard they fixed that recently but I haven't gotten around to checking the new ones out. They do have some gorgeous shades!
That looks lovely i love nail polish, i am surprised that so many of you owuld only wear it on your toes?! :/does it have a gold shimmer-looks like it in the pic! lovely jubbley!
I love this green! I want to get the OPIi love the rich colors for the winter :)
Julie Dee <3
I love a nice green polish! This one looks stunning. I frequent the blog All Laquered Up and the girl who writes it is all about greens - she would LOVE this one, I'm sure. ♥
love this color! it kinda reminds me of the espana line from OPI.I want all of those (:
I've never really like green nail polish, but if I had to choose it woulod be this shade.
Holy-Cow, I can't even think how to begin...what a crazy-wild-original color for nails! I think its so....cool, amazing color and yes, its definitely going to be a conversation starter. It just blows my mind sometimes, whats "fashionable" and "In" amazing!I love the color! I keep my nails short...I think I want to grow them out and give this color a try, I want to walk on the wild side! Let my hair down! Burn my Bra...well maybe not my bra, dam thing cost me $50.
I saw this in Lucky a while back, it's beautiful, I just dont do green polishes. I only use on my toes and love my pinks!
Your color is a beautiful shade of green that I would wear. I also think a dark olive or chartreuse with some shimmer would be pretty too. Green is one of my top two favorite colors the other is magenta. Thanks for the info.

Well, time for a guy to chime in on the nail polish color of it all. There are two things men love most in this world, women and cars. I think it would be fun if I had a British Racing Green Allard J2X MkII and a girlfriend that painted her nails to match. I always thought that Porsche should come out with a nail polish line. Why not? They make sunglasses and pens. If you look at the great colors you could get a on a 'Vette in the '70's and Porsche has had some amazing colors through the years they are fun colors... Even the BMW had that great Gumball-Blue available on the M3; I think nail polish companies could take a lesson from the cars that we like. I once heard of a girl that went from Porsche dealer to Porsche looking for the touch up paint to use as nail polish... Is that a good idea or is she nuts? I think using car paint on the body is toxic. I also think it would be cool if women started painting their nails with racing stripes and numbers. Ok, Megken is a bit of a car geek.
*squeal* I seriously loove green polish. I have been lemming some Zoya's and Illamasquas. I heard good things about butter london too. Such adorable square bottles.
Wow, the last time I wore green nailpolish... I think I was in middle school, it was a bottle of moss green pearl made by Wet n Wild, and my mom hoped that I would only wear it for Halloween. haha... However, nowadays, green has become more sophisticated, and that green looks gorgeous. I might look for a creamy non-shimmery green shade though.

hmm I don't know if I can pull off green nail polish... Im only brave enough to do nude colors :SBut this would look so nice with alot of my fall cloths!
Tan is Love
What a beautiful polish colour! I have a similar one at home, but its just a cheap brand. It looks great on toes
I love green and wear it all the time, which is why I'm amazed to realise that I don't own any green nail polishes. I'm going to have to remedy that.

I saw that shade and all the Butter colors on b-glowing...There are SO many great shades to choose from! Love the green. I'm into the matte trend too and I bet it'd look great with a matte topcoat!
Hi Meg :)
this color is wnderful !Really beautiful!
For Halloween, or every day, I shall wear it with enjoyment!
I like colors a little moved, and in nail polish, the moved it is always original and glamorous!
This mark seems so class !Thx a lot !!Stay prettyAmy
Amy , Big kisses from Paris!
I love green nail polish! I love any kind of nail polish, really, but greens and blues have always been some of my favs. I have on Zoya's Irene right now. It's definitely a moss green, but I like brighter colors. This color looks gorgeous. I have a Butter London polish in like a charcoal color. It's long lasting, really pigmented, and stays chip free for a good amount of time. I may have to check this color out.
I've never worn green nail polish before! I'm pretty straight down the line with nail colours and usually stick to my pink-red hues.I've recently tried the dark-almost-black red and think I pulled it off!I might have a look out for some dark green/aqua colours like this.
i usually stick to sheer and clear nail varnishes on my fingernails....but they would be great on your toenails!!! its so unique!
