GETTING TO KNOW LIZL! SPOTLIGHT ON LIZ LAMONICA!
Name: Liz LaMonica
Age: 29 (for a few more months anyway)
Vocation: Marketing for a large Financial Services Company
What is in your purse? In my work bag right now: phone, wallet, iPod, Sophie the Giraffe (how did THAT get in there), my make-up bag which contains: Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick, Maybelline Great Lash Almost Black Waterproof Mascara (BAD allergies), Cover Girl Aqua Smooth in Classic Ivory, Brown eyebrow pencil, Clinique Charcoal Gray eyeliner, Clinique dusty sand eye shadow, a small tube of Abreva, Clinique Happy Perfume Crayon and and a spare pair of contacts
Guilty Pleasure: I love shows like America's Next Top Model and Project Runway.
Skin color, type and any special skin concerns: I have fair sensitive/combination skin. I am always on the quest to look flawless but never seem to achieve my goal. I magically lose my makeup by the end of the day, and I can't figure it out.
Beauty inspiration: People who look flawless without makeup. I am trying to go sans makeup on the weekends, but it's not working.
Top 3 skincare products:
1. Neutrogena- Deep Clean Cream Cleanser - I use this in the morning during my shower. I have been using it since I was in high school when I had really bad skin. It was the only stuff that worked without really drying out my skin. I have become attached and I can't let go.
2. Neutrogena- Oil Free Moisturize for Combination Skin - See a pattern here? So my theory was, I should stick to like products for my skin routine so I don't break out (I have really sensitive skin) so after using the Cream Cleanser, I go for the moisturizer. OOOH Boy, this stuff works so well! My skin gets so soft, and it has SPF 15 in it, so I feel safe.
3. Neutrogena Wave - I am always looking for new stuff to try. I saw this commercial and I thought it looked fun. I use this at night, it really digs the makeup out of my pores and scrubs my skin. I get the exfoliating pads for extra ooomph. I also like it because it's portable. When I was in the hospital after I had my son, it was great to be able to wash my face without getting a ton of paraphernalia out. The nurses thought it was pretty nifty too.
Top 3 tools of the trade:
1. Salon Shaper Cordless Manicure Pedicure Nail Kit - It's so awesome. I can file and buff my nails in about 2 minutes. Think of it as a power drill for your nails with the different attachments. My nails stay firm and look awesome.
2. My Glamour Flat Iron - I can flat iron my hair while it's still wet!!! Talk about a time savior!
3. Bare Minerals powder brush - It holds a ton of product, so I don't have to go back to get more powder to apply.
Best beauty secret/tip: Always apply moisturizer right after you wash your face. It soaks in all the moisturizer and you don't get those dry patches on your face.
Three current beauty products you'd like to buy:
1. I need some really good bronzer that doesn't make me look orange, but takes away the pasty white of my face.
2. I need nail polish that won't chip at the ends the day after you apply. Long lasting manicure!! (I realize that it's how you apply, but a little help would be nice)
3.Something to get rid of my baby's cradle cap, that's not baby oil. I hate the fact that when I apply it, then have to bathe him first thing in the morning. When I am trying to get ready for work and get him ready for daycare, I need all the time I can get.
It's so nice to get to know you Liz! And you are right, oily skin tends to lose the makeup soon... have you tried any primers?
Do you girls with allergies use waterproof mascara as well?

Hi Liz, nice to meet you!! I too am inspired to wear less make-up (weekends) and I envy those women that can go make-up free and look FAB. I love you pic, you look fresh as a daisy!
Nice to meet you Liz! THanks for the tip, and don't worry, I'm addicted to America's Next Top Model to:)
I love America's Next Top Model also! Nice to meet you. :)

Hey Liz, nice to meet you! I love Project Runway too! I got so addicted after the first 2 seasons and then we switched to satellite service and they didn't have Bravo so i missed a lot of seasons :( I'm glad they moved it to Lifetime because I actually get the channel.

I love ANTM and Project Runway as well. Love love love them. I never miss a show either. I have to wear waterproof mascara as well when my allergies are acting up. Sometimes I'm OK to get away with regular mascara. I go makeup less during the weekends but lately have been putting it on because my skin is acting up. Another symptom of allergies when the farmers are harvesting. Thanks for sharing with us Liz. You are one pretty lady.
nice to meet you :)i love next top model as well!!! i love reality tv show, edited or not it's fun :)hmmm bronzer, i've always heard that stila's bronzer is really good, it's completely matte, dark brown and not orange!
Lily =o)http://lazyscorner.blogspot.com/
You guys are so great!! Thanks for the advice (and the validation....ANTM is nothing to be ashamed of). That picture was taken on my wedding day, on my way to get married. That day I felt beautiful inside and out.Lily, thanks for the recommendation. I will try it!!
I have been searching and searching and searching for a nailpolish that doesn't chip. Recently I heard that if your nails chip from the tips that means your nails are bending where the nailpolish isn't. So to battle this you need a nail strengthener and you should use a clear one as a base and top coat. Haven't tried it yet (as I have quite a few to use up already!) but its certainly the next on my list!! Nice to meet you! :)
Hey Liz-- First, stay 29 for as long as you like. (I swear my Mom was 29 for my entire K-12 education. LOL.)I was just talking to a friend about Neurogena cleansers. I am thinking of trying it.
Hi Liz! I also love Clinique everything (especially their eyeshadows, but pretty much everything), including their skincare. It's a bit spendy though so I'm considering going back to Neutrogena because their stuff is just good. Especially for the price.I can't keep makeup from melting off my face either but am about to order Shiseido's SPF55 lotion. Supposedly a great makeup primer that'll actually keep people matte? So I'll report back if/when I get that. But a miracle product for keeping my mani going: Nailtek Foundation II ridge filling basecoat/strengthener. I bought it on a whim at TJ Maxx and for the first time ever, I had a mani last almost two weeks! Okay, so there was some tip wear, but no chipping. Seriously, that's a small miracle. I've tried other basecoats and the best I've gotten is a week, with small chips.

Hi Liz, its nice to meet you. I also have one of those hair straightners that you can use on wet hair and I love it. I find it gives much smoother and longer lasting results than why I straighten from dry hair.
I love your name, it's so glamorous, like a heroine in a film noir
Hey Liz! I hear you on the nail polish deal. I can never find one that lasts more than a day without the slightest chip.
Lovely to meet you Liz! I really enjoyed reading your profile, what an excellent write-up. I love reading entries by Mums! I'm technically not one myself, but I am something of a step-Mum to my partners two small children when they come to stay with us on weekends. : ]Great photo, you're gorgeous!
Hi Liz! Nice to meet you :D I love your photo, you look so pretty!I've never actually thought to wear a waterproof mascara and I suffer from allergies most of the year! So I'm going to look into getting one now, thanks! :DI've also been looking into trying that Neutrogena Wave sometime.. Btw I've found that Santee nail polish works great, is cheap and doesn't seem to chip straight away!
It's nice to meet you, Liz! :)I too am inspired by those who look fresh faced and flawless witout makeup on! Lately I've been working on getting my skin under control so I can at least cut down on the number of products I use. Oh and I love ANTM, too!
I really reccomend the lancome mineral bronzing poweder! Ive been using it over a year and you can apply just a little sparkle or a little more to add color. I dont tan my face so bronzer is an important part of my makeup routine to make my face match my body! lol and it looks SOOO natural and its got a nice shimmer to it!
Tan is Love
I second bluedevilkitty on the Nailtek Foundation II ridge filling basecoat/strengthener. Another good base coat is OPI's Bonder. I'm also pretty pale and have trouble with bronzers, but mark bronzer in Pro Glow works perfectly for me.
Love and Lipgloss,
Kathryn

I love bare essentials! Such good mineral coverage!I also am tres blind without my contacts!!
Nice to meet you Liz! Have you tried Nars Laguna bronzer? it's a beautiful bronzer for pale skinned girls like us.

Nice to meet you Liz !!!i didn't use waterproof mascara ...
Hi Liz!! Great profile! Although I already knew most of that stuff. :)And for all you ladies reading this, I was one of Liz's bridesmaids and yes, she did look that happy and glowing for her entire wedding day!
Nice to meet you Liz! You should try to use a primer before you put your makeup on so it will last longer. Some good ones are from Smashbox & Urban Decay. For bronzer, you could try NARS Laguna or maybe the bronzers from Smashbox. I read somewhere that Kim Kardashian uses Smashbox!
Nice to meet you Liz! Love your picture! I have oily skin as well and lose some makeup by the end of the day. I really love Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer, good stuff for oily skin! I also carry around a Clinique Happy crayon <3
I can relate--my oily skin is a bermuda triangle for makeup! A primer really does help, as long as you use the right one. Laura Mercier makes a good one for mineral makeup, and instead of that oily silicone-based type, it is a fast-drying light lotion. And have you tried BE "A little sun"? It's great for lighter skin, it never looks orange or fake.
Hi Liz - nice to meet you. I used to have the disappearing makeup problem. Two solutions that have worked for me are using a primer (smashbox is great - but you can save money by using Monistat chafing gel. Check out what's been written about that on this site). And if you don't use primer, the other option is Model in a Bottle. You lightly spray over your completed makeup application - and it truly lasts all day. It's magic! You don't need to use both - but I guess you could. I use Model in a Bottle on the days when I get out of my routine and forget to prime before foundation.Lovely photo!
Carole
ahh we watch the same tv <3
Julie Dee <3
Erica! Thanks so much for the recommendation. I hear primer, and I am scared it's going to be really thick, I am glad to hear there is a light primer. cac: That Model in a Bottle stuff sounds interesting. I am going to have to look that up. Stacy: I was glowing because all my bridesmaids looked smokin'...oh yeah, and I was marrying the man of my dreams ;)
Wow you seem to really like Clinique! Their stuff always seems nostalgic to me since my grandma always used to give me stuff from her GWPs from them when I was little; it was some of my first makeup. Maybe I have her to blame for my addiction!
I too would love a nail polish that doesnt chip after a day of wear! even if i spend ages prepping my nails and use base and top coat it still happens! so annoying!I have read that elf bronzer is comparible to nars laguna bronzer ( i think its the elf bronzer?blusher duo from the studio line if i remember correctly)
Aww, you're not pasty! I recommend Physician's Formula Baked bronzer or swatching madly at Sephora :D.
Hi Liz nice to meet you and I love America's Next Top Model Too :-)
Hi Liz, you look fab! Good luck on your quest for a flawless face -- I'm sure with the good advice from the megheads, you'd get there soon! p/s I envy ladies who are flawless sans makeup. But I find applying makeup so much more fun!
Hi Liz:I use OPI Chip Skip and it's excellent to keep your polish perfect for longer. I give it five stars. Every few days I apply another coat. You really don't need to, I just like to be extra safe. http://www.amazon.com/OPI-Nail-Polish-Chip-0-5-Ounce/dp/B00178SOCA I rarely watch TV, but I do watch every episode of "Project Runway" and most of "America's Next Top Model". For cradle cap I would try half apple cider vinegar and half water. Just apply with a cotton ball. Congratulations on being in the spotlight!!!

LOVE you pic,so cute and fresh and glam!!! Lovely to meet you!Try the "Ojan" hair treatment in the tub. It seriously fixes everything!
Hi Liz, it's nice to meet you! I too go face naked on the weekends, unless I am going somewhere special. I believe their are a ton of us that love ANTM & Project Runway!!
How NEAT is that mani/pedi buffer kit! For the nails--the application and your base and top coat obviously make a difference with chipping, but the biggest thing is to not use your nails as tools. Use letter openers to open mail, use a spoon or something to pop up the tabs of soda cans, etc. Avoiding those kinds of things really, really helps! :)
Hey, nice to meet you!! I wear contacts but don't carry an extra pair, I really think I should though. I have started to wear less makeup on the weekends to let my skin breathe and some sundays I'm just too lazy to bother!
Nice to get to know you Liz.I am glad you talked about the Neutrogena Wave. I have been wanting to buy it but I wasn't sure if it really did anything.I wish I could co without makeup too but it's just not going to happen right now. I will only go makeup free if I don't have to leave my house...even to get the mail.
So nice to meet you! I'm trying to do the no makeup thing on the weekend and it isn't workin' for me either. I've got too much discoloration to go without foundation, so I'm gonna try this philosophy peel I have and see if that helps. Let me tell you my bronzer story. I am super fair skinned and wanted one so I went to Sephora and tested a bunch but all of them were way too dark on me. So one of the ladies grabbed a shimmery powder foundation by fresh in a dark color. It works great on me as a bronzer! So think about getting a powder foundation in a color darker than your skin if you can't find a "bronzer" to bronze with. :)
Nice to meet you Liz! Iam also on the hunt for a bronzer. Iam fair as you and I find it hard to find something light enough for my skin. I'll be looking into some of the tips that have been mentioned here.
Hi Liz great to meet you! I also have Clinique Happy, it's great. An idea to help keep your make-up on all day...Make-Up Forever - High Definition powder. It's 100% mineral silica powder. It absorbs oil and best of all smooths out the skins surface, leaving an airbrushed look. If you have a Sephora or a store near you that carries Make-Up Forever brand give it a try, I think you will love it! Victoria
Nice to meet you!I love the Black Honey Almost Lipstick too, it's such a flattering color on everyone, and practically goof-proof (perfect for me!)I see you tend to go with Neutrogena face products - and they're a favorite of mine too :) virtual high five.
xoxo
