KLEAN KANDLE! SORRY THIS IS LATE! THE LIGHTS AND POWER WENT OUT IN HOLLYWOOD!

Wed, 10/28/2009 - 10:39am
  • Miscellaneous

soycandlesMeg here! Yesterday afternoon the wind started to blow so fiercely that the furniture on my roof top deck slammed around like it was going to come in through the ceiling. Thump, thump, bang! Every 20 minutes or so the lights would flicker and blink but the power managed to hold on. I hopped in the shower at 4:40pm and had to do an interview at 5pm -I just towel dried my hair. I wanted to be ready for my questions (the interview was over twitter-I know, what happened to the good ole phone? I'm @megsmakeup by the way.)

I managed to get to question 8 when God had other plans. Whoosh and Bam! The power was gone the internet was gone and there I was, with plans to go out at 6:30. My hair was still damp, my face was still fresh, I wasn't sure if I had two different tones of black on. I would be, quite literally-getting dressed in the dark.

With the help of Megken I was able to throw myself together enough to make it into the car and use the 2x4 light up mirror to save what I could.
Surely by the time I made it home at 11pm the power would be fixed and I could go about my energy burning ways... No such luck.

Stumbling in (no not too much alcohol this time-it was pitch black!) I scrambled for a light and began collecting candles from around the house. Most of the candles were little tea-lights in holders so I put them all along my table. Then I remembered I had a Klean Thai Lemongrass Kandle!

I had been dying to try this so there was no better time then sitting in near darkness! Megken and I had a little bonfire going on the coffee table providing the light but the Klean Thai Lemongrass Kandle provided the scent. It is a fresh, clean and tangy aroma. It is not your run of the mill scent and it pleases guys just as much as you ladies (no tuberose grandma memories with this item.)

Klean Kandles live up to their name. They use all natural soy wax with eco-friendly wicks. We had the candle lit for hours and we barely made a dent. For you travelers this is a great item or a great gift for someone always on the road. The candles come housed in a nice round tin with a twist lid so no breakage for romantic hotel rendezvous.

While having no power is a bit of a bummer, life is made a lot simpler without the phone, the lights and yes, twitter. Starting to relax and burning my delicious Klean Kandle I thought "this isn't that bad." It even made me a little sad when finally, after hours, I heard my hairdryer go on in the bathroom. The power was back!

I blew out all of the other candles but my Klean one stayed lit!

Who else loves Klean and their fabulous Klean Kandles?

Check it out here!

I got one of these with my last point submission and I totally love it. I am a candle junkie and was so thrilled to receive it. Anyway, I got Satsuma Glow.  It has notes of guava, orange & lemon mingle with sweet jasmine, neroli, sandalwood and musk. To me, it doesn't smell that complex, just happy and tropical. It reminds me of being on a beach. I've been using it in the bathroom whenever I'm taking a bath to de-stress and it smells fab.

"Blue Hawaii" is simmering away in my room as we speak! GORGEOUS scentery tropical and calming and Meg is right, the burn-time is amazing! Beautiful candle all the way around and the selection of scents is just fabulous! The power around here goes out a lot as does the phone,my satellite ISP,and everything in general,LOL! Thank GOD for luscious candles, tea, and a book with big print to save one's sanity... I think KLEAN candles should be mandatory in every stinky-hotel room in the US...what a dif they would make as long as the blacklight wasn't on. :0BTW,I am TOTALLY not buying the "megken and I broke up" anymore...HAHAHA! Having seen y'all together and the fact that this man helps you get ready in a blackout speaks volumes. :) LOVE IT!

mjsred, I agree... Megken's been mentioned pretty frequently on the blog lately! Whether Meg and Megken are together/separated/separatedbuttogether or whatever, I hope they're in a happier place :)I like candles, but fire is just a hazard in my life. I'll stick to room sprays...which Klean has! They also have perfume and other body scents, so I might just have to get some of those (I love Lemongrass scents).

I got one of these a LONG time ago in some gift basket or something. I think it was actually a Yankee Swap at work...Anyway, it came in a really pretty little tin and was something Christmas-y. Sugar Plum Blossom, maybe? I stuck it somewhere in my house as a decoration and forgot it was a candle. It got put away and brought out with the Christmas stuff for about 3 years. Last year, I was putting it out and realized it was a candle so I decided to (finally!) light it. YUM. I have never personally smelled a sugar plum, but if this is it, I love them. It was fresh and yummy and not too overwhelming. I used it all season and barely made a dent in the candle. I can't wait to pull it back out this December!

Mjsred, we are creating new definitions for "broken-up" and coining new terminology like, now we are "megken-up".  I hate perfumey candles.   I like candles with a natural aroma that are soy. Did you know, candles made with paraffin are dangerous to our health? I read that elements from paraffin candles contains many of the same toxins found in diesel fuel and it's a waste product of petroleum that has been bleached then texturized with acrolyn, a known carcinogenic product. Not sure if it's true but I know that read it.  I do know that the Klean lemongrass had a great clean smell, like the name.  Since the Klean candle is soy I know it's safer than second hand smoke and LA air.  When burning the lemongrass candle it hit olfactory glands helping me relax and feel happy.  I like candles better than air fresher and incense. This amazing candle that is packaged in such convent tin that it makes for that little romantic getaway surprise.  BTW, I like writing about candles more than man-make-up and breakin-up.

I have been waiting for the Klean candle review to come up because let me tell you...this candle is SO impressive in so many ways! I also have the Blue Hawaii scent and from the moment I opened the tin, I thought 'WOW' in capital letters and many exclamation points!!!!! I couldn't wait to light it up! I lit it in the bedroom and the fragrance stayed in the bedroom for days after I burned it! My Harley man husband commented on it immediately and wanted to know if we could get more of these luscious smelling (my words) candles! Every time I even sit near the candle, and I am talking weeks later, the wonderful fragrance wafts it's way up to me and I'm just so delightfully impressed with the staying power of the fragrance! So often I purchase candles exclusively for their fresh or yummy fragrances only to repeatedly enter the room where the candle is burning and think “I still don't smell anything!”, once again ratcheting up my disappointment level. Not this time, this time I was totally impressed! I really want to try more of the Klean fragrances because if they are all THIS GOOD, I'm sold! I also think soy candles really are the best because they don't have that giant trail of soot which leads right to your ceiling! I would love to have an all-you-can-smell buffet and try every candle the Klean people make and then narrow it down to possibly 10 of them as my favorites!! I'd have to inhale coffee beans in between my smell-a-thon however, to get the full effect, so that there would be no carry-over. You know... like they do at perfume stores??! The website is intriguing and I realized I could experience some of their pleasing scents in more ways than just candles! AWESOME PRODUCT!

Megken, you are such a delight! “Megken-up”! How lucky is that to have a relationship like you two do after a breakup – so not the norm! You two definitely have each other's backs. Megken, if ever your “Megken-up” gets old for you, I'd like to have a “Jeanken-transition-time” where you come and stay at MY house and make sure I have lemon-grass candles providing light in a dark time! Shazam! Let me tell you, right now my Harley man husband is sick and when he is sick, the pleasantries are over! There is no 'light' in Jeanasina world today! I told my man that I'm going to change his name to Mr. Crabbypants McGruff, because he is SO crabbed out and surly when he's sick! Even the nicest candle couldn't cheer up my man when he's feeling bad! How about you Ken, when you are sick are you still a thoughtful, kind person or do you turn into a mercenary with germs as your weapon of choice? I would love to smell the lemon-grass candle big time – I love earthly smells the most! I often purchase the Good Home Company Pure Grass fragrance surface cleaner just because I love the smell of fresh mowed grass! If this sounds good to you Ken, please do not hesitate to come to Minnesota and bring your candles! Ken dear, you are one in a million! As the mother figure here, thank for taking such good care of our one-in-a-million Meg! Can two one-in-a-million people make it in this world after a break up??? Apparently so! As a fan of you both, I say “Yippieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

I am a huge fan of scented candles.  Since I have a 16 year-old Doberman that doesn't always make it outside to use the bathroom.  We should own stock in Yankee Candles and Bac-Out.  Bac-out is a spray stain and odor eliminator made by the environmentally friendly company, Biokleen.  This stuff is natural, non-toxic and biodegradable and its effectiveness is amazing.  It's made from lime peels and live enzyme cultures that just destroy odors and stains.  We buy it by the case; literally 4 gallons at a time.  It sounds like Klean has an wonderful array of scents.  I think I might get the Thai Lemongrass for my Mom's Christmas stocking, it sounds right up her alley.

I was thrilled when Meg scent me a candle from Klean Bath & Body.  I immediately tore open my prize, lit up and inhaled.  That's right, I inhaled. I blame it on all the peer pressure.....I admit the Ginger Tea isn't a scent I would typically choose, but I'm glad I got it because it is a fantastic scent.  (It's nice getting out of my aroma therapy rut!)  Ginger Tea is fresh and invigorating with a hint of floral and spice.  I had it burning right next to me as I wrote my review and it had a very interesting affect on me.  I had to fight the urge to get up and get moving just so I could finish.   The minute it was completed, I got up and put all that glorious energy to good use.  It was a great motivator and my freshly mopped floors look amazing!  That's some handy aroma therapy. Scent has always had a very powerful affect on me, that can be both curse and blessing. Hmmmm.....

I rated it as awesome for the scent alone. I must admit that I have yet to burn it. (I have a cat and she is quite mischievous and I believe lighting a candle in her presence would spell disaster.) I do however have it sitting open beside me as I type this and I am inhaling the delicious scent of Thai Lemongrass. It's heaven. The lemongrass is tart and refreshing and the slight almost burn that super citrusy scents can give you is tempered and complimented perfectly by the coconut.

It is divine. I am so glad that Meg (and Eleni and Miss Ro and who all else is in charge of packing the points packages) sent it to me. I love the fact that it is soy so it will burn clean. It's just fantastic.
