STILA HOLIDAY SMUDGEPOT COLLECTION!
Goddess Granny just back from Las Vegas and boy oh boy, have things changed there! You really have to look HARD to find some of the old glam and glitz and although the shopping and the shows are world-class, the service and presentations have become sort of average...I have always enjoyed the simple fact that most of what you see and feel while visiting Sin City is an illusion and it used to be that you were made to feel you were part of something "special" there. It has changed and I hope those decadent days of glitter will someday be obvious again!
I for one love change...I know it's hard for many to embrace but I will add that when you somewhat rely on something to give you that thrill you crave it's never good to be let down. I still love Las Vegas and even more important,I LOVE when a company that's been around since 1994 is able to make those changes and continue to create cutting edge and fabulous products that ALWAYS deliver in style!
"Modern...versatile...easy to use" Words such as these are almost a constant when you read about the latest products from "Stila" The company was conceived by one of THE best makeup artists ever IMO, the gorgeous and ever so humble Jeanine Lobell in yes, 1994. It's gone through some changes for sure but has been a constant and consistently praised and coveted line of cosmetics since the beginning. I remember reading that back in the day Jeanine refused to use a supermodel or "face" to represent her line: she didn't want ANY woman to feel intimidated by an impossible beauty so the absolutely delightful and oh so pretty hand- drawn characters representing girls of all colors and styles decorate her signature packaging instead! I have a Stila dusting powder on my vanity that HAS to be about 10 years old: it's a chic redhead on a darling tube of "Flaunt" in the scent of "Violet" sparkling body powder and although I think the powder itself is long-gone, I just LOVE the cool color of the packaging and that sassy girl, so I keep it around.
The products themselves are nothing short of genius and I personally feel that MANY have been "re-invented" in different ways over the years by others.Stila was the first to introduce convertible color that could be used all over the face, and their lip-stains are the stuff of legend! So many incredible offerings over the years,I don't think I have ever been without a "Kitten" eyeshadow in my bag.
Recently,I've seen a freshening-up of the colorways and formulations and the recent "Stila Loves Barbie" was an AMAZING success! Who doesn't love "Barbie" and wouldn't like to believe their pout was the same shade of pink as hers? To my way of thinking, Stila is a dead-on hit whenever I gift it to anyone regardless of age or coloring. I have done so for many occasions and it's always brought squeals of delight because you simply cannot go wrong, their palettes and tubes of colors are simply THAT good and that wearable!
The Holidays came early to my mailbox in the form of Stila's awesome " Holiday Smudgepot Collection!" Four, count em' FOUR little pots full of the most gorgeous and oh so wearable colors: "Kitten" (my fave shadow!) a glimmering peachy-beige, "Violet", an intense and fabulous true-purple with a shimmer, "Starry Night", a deep and rich blue also with shimmer, and a perfect and true black that is so smooth and rich you can get lost in it! These four little pots of pleasure also come with a small and decent brush for use as an eyeliner but as with so many of the genius-Stila creations, you can also smudge on with your fingers or layer with a brush as a long-lasting eyeshadow!
I can't begin to tell you how usable and wearable these shades are, I had on "Kitten" as a shadow combined with the "Violet" as a liner yesterday and it was just THE most perfectly pretty "of the moment" look I had worn in a long time! The colors are very true and don't smudge in spite of their name, once they set. I want to get super-brave and combine the "Starry Night" with the "Violet" then line with the perfect intense black next weekend. I simply dipped my finger into "Kitten" this morning and smeared a bit on and I feel all girly and pretty while folding the laundry, it gives such a pretty finish with no effort!
This collection will thrill anyone you gift it to, I promise but I also will insist that you scoop one up for yourself as well because you will NOT be able to resist once you see how perfect these shades are! How do they compare to my oh so favorite Urban Decay "Ink For Eyes" you ask?
They are different in that the colors are more intense, perhaps a bit more "glam" in that the blue and purple have shimmer in them. I'd say that the "Smudgepots" are a true kissin' cousin' to the "Ink" in terms of portability and wearability and I don't say this lightly but I truly love them both!
I cannot live without eyeliner and to have SUCH a wealth of it presented WITH a decent brush in one small re-cycled and adorable package might well give me a case of the swoons,
!
If you're looking to be thrifty this season, you could totally break up the set and present one color with maybe a brush or a shadow in a cute organza bag and no one would be the wiser, there's a BIG bang for the buck in this package!
Who is planning on picking up one of these Stila smudgepot collections and who already has the smudgepots in their daily beauty arsenal? Which is your go-to color?

I love Stila smudge pots. I have black and brown and am looking to get some more vibrant colors. This sounds like just the thing.
These are always on my list of go-to items, especially when I travel. The confidence I have from just tossing a handful of Stila smudge pots into that FAA-approve Ziploc baggie is indescribable. They are a multi-tasker's delight, and in such luscious colors. I line, I shadow, I highlight -- in the overworked words of Rachel Zoe, I die.
TIP...I forgot to mention when I wrote the review: recently I attended a pro-makeup class and am in LOVE with this application-idea.Go to "Michaels" or any other craft and art-supply store and get a "Taklon Angled Shader" brush (@ $8.00) You want the synthetic so the bristles hold together when you apply a cream-eyeliner like a "Smudgepot." They are tight and smooth-bristled.Dip either into the pot inself or what I like to do it work some of the color onto my hand first...pick up a good amount and then starting at the OUTER corner of your eye, simply use this brush to swoop into the middle. Then start at the inside and work again to the middle.Repeat on your other eye and prepare to be thrilled! :) You'll be AMAZED at how easy it easy to get a PERFECT "winged look" to your liner as the brush does all the work for you! Be sure to use the "outside in" technique and not "inside out",you'll get a more perfect line this way!
Ooooh those look gorgeous !!! It's such a pain living in the UK with the customs limit if I bought those they would cost me $20 more just for customs :-(
That is a fantastic price for that set! I have my 3 smudge pots from the Barbie Loves Stila sweepstakes that are similar to the blue, black, and purple in this set (wearing the black one today, actually!), but I may need to pick up a Kitten smudge pot, so pretty. :)
Seems like such a lovely product. Either I cannot apply it close enough to my lash line, or my eye is just shaped weird. Top liner on me looks terrible... but I LOVE the winged look.

I actually just won this set from Stila on twitter last week! I just got it the other day and it's awesome! I already have the Black and Kitten sp's, so I gave them to a younger friend who's just getting into makeup. The new exclusive shades are totally gorgeous, I can't wait to play with them more!
wow these look incredible! the navy one especially, I can't wait to try these!
I've never really trusted 'smudgey' cream eye-shadows. Everytime I've used them in the past they've disappeared off my face, even when wearing a good primer!
Those are soo pretty! I like the violet one!
Omg i love these. My friend gave me thebrown and the black ones from this set becauseshe already had them in a larger size. Ijust used the black one todayand i love it. I want more bright colours though :)

swwoooooonnn!!1 how pretty are these??! philogene total bummer- I am so put off buying anything from the us since my edm big order was lost :( I know they were awsome about it but was still so disappointing, thats why i am on the hunt for a uk equivalent to edm (but i dont think its out there....sob!) x
It sucks not being in the US, doesn't it? I empathise with you girls! Especially with your lost order, how heart-breaking!!
I don't have any of these but I would love to test them out!
oh i loveee stila smudge pots! they glide on ever so easily without the hassle of tugging your delicate lids!atm i've only tried black, i'm boring and i just stick with the original, basic colours for eyeliner etc.. but i think blues and purples would look cool too!

That violet is stunning and Kitten is such a pretty color. I have it in both powder and a liquid eyeshadow in a tube. I hate the tube's texture. It's tacky and doesn't really dry well even in thin layers. I'd be worried about a smudge pot being like the liquid eyeshadow and doing the same. But it's like grown up finger paint - who wouldn't love that? I have a gel liner by L'Oreal HIP in a pot that seems just like a Stila smudge pot, but I've never compared the two side by side. Stila seems to have way better colors though.
I am in love with Stila's Smudge pots! I currently own Noir, 24kt, and Kitten.
Noir is a matte black with supergreat lasting power--I use it every day with my EDM liner brush.
24kt has gold flecks inside a black base which looks gorgeous. This one I tend to use smudged because it becomes so shimmery. Kitten is a gorgeous soft champagne, perfect for brightening the corners of eyes, highlighting brows, or completing a natural look :)
But caution: always make sure these are completely closed! my first Noir pot dried up on me because I didn't twist the lid on hard enough.
The Violet pot looks awesome, I've never been bold enough to try such a bright purple! I'm thinking about adding this kit to my Sephora F&F Haul this year ;)
I seriously want these new Smudgepots! They look just gorgeous. I am already a huge Stila fan, and especially adore their Smudgepots. These and MAC Fluidlines are my Holy Grails of eyeliner, I kid you not. I currently own many shades:Black: super black. A great staple.Bronze: Very pretty.Gray: gorgeous. A great alternative to brown or black. A true gray.Cobalt: a deep almost navy blue. Slight shimmer. Cobalt Clutch (from Barbie Loves Stila): A primary blue with microglitter. less opaque than the other smudgepots I own, but still nice.Jade: A gorgeous olivey mossy green with pearl. I wanted to buy Purple Pumps but they were out of stock at the Sephora store I went to, and now they're no longer on Sephora.com (I wanted to buy them during the Friends & Family event). Looks like I might have to get them from Beauty.com instead...
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
i just started using mac fluidline and i heard this rivals it and ive seen swatches of the colors. GORGEOUS. i'd love to get this as a gift but if not, im sort of on product probation until i can get my stash to a reasonable size. my mom keeps saying "no one can use up all those products in a lifetime". im sure gonna try!

I havnt ever tried any stila products and I feel I am really missing out!!Lol Ugh Im so broke lately, I can't even think about christmas gifts!! Hopefully the plasma center will be open again before then!!!!!!but I HAVE heard nothing but great stuff, especially about the cheek stains. And I was skeptic about the smudge pots because well creme shadow had a tendancy to smudge and i usually stay away from them. But now I am tempted.
Tan is Love
hey punkeydew i feel the same way! i've never tried anything from stila but i swear lots of ladies love the line. the thing that i've wanted to try the most are the smudge pots to see if they really do hold up as eyeliners and eyeshadow on my oily lids.

I haven't tried stila products either but I'm dying too :( dam the customs limit !!!
This sounds wonderful. The colors in the picture look really vibrant. Do they "soften" when you apply or stay as vivid blue as shown? I think as you say, these would be wonderful for Christmas.

The violet one is so pretty. The purple mac fluidline just looks brown on my eyes...so I may have to try this. I have been looking at the Barbie eyeshadow palette for a while. I want it so badly, but I have so many palettes I never use. Maybe I will splurge and get the palette and pick up a smudge pot too.
yay Las Vegas! Every time I go there, it's a different city, but you're right, it's becoming more and more generic with ordinary mall stores.
Those colors look awesome! I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan of neither the smudge pots, nor the smashbox ones. However, I am a huge fan of both the MAC and Bobbi Brown gel liners, as I prefer the gel-like consistancy of these two brands.
I heart stila products. I haven't tried any of the smudge pots though. Will have to pick one of these up (probably as soon as they are on sale after the holidays - just in time for my 25th birthday! Woo!)
Those colours sound great. Stila always has heaps of good products
I really love Stila, although I don't have many products. They really have been trendsetters in terms of other companies copying their products! I've been meaning to check out this new collection. It looks so pretty! I really want the Kitten smudgepot, but who needs a full size when you have as much makeup as me? This would be perfect! Now to convince my hubs I "need" this....

Those colours look beautiful! I have the grey smudge pot and love it, it's one of the best gel eyeliners I've ever used and I love how it just doesn't budge once I've put it on.

I like violet! I hope it will be available in Singapore at a reasonable price. keeping my fingers crossed!
Starry Night looks fab! I have a Smashbox gel liner, but have always wanted to try the Stila Smugepots! I have to say that having the appropriate brush is a must when using eyeliners like these. The plus is that, with said brush, it is easy to turn any eye shadow into a glam liner with a little bit of water. I have a Smashbox double ended brush: one end is short, stubby, and dense, while the other end is a smuding tip.
Just included them in the sephora order I placed an hour ago! The friends and family is still on, and it lets you use it multiple times. The code is ff2009, if any needs it.
I've never tried any of the smudge pots, but they look so gorgeous I'm always drooling over them. Especially the purple, Violet, that color is absolutely fabulous!!
Before, getting Stila was only a dream but now my local department store carries Stila! I'm so excited that their prices here are practically the same, if not cheaper!
I have 2 of these and absolutely love them!
i love the gold shade (:the other ones are a little too... out there for me, aha.I like the neutral colors, and that one seems dead-on.
I've been needing new eyeliner and wanting a cream liner in a pot. I hate using pencils because 1) they need to be sharpened all the time and 2) the center's always off so it's always hard to sharpen them evenly. I saw swatches of these online and seriously GASPED. The colors are so intense and gorgeous. Naturally, I ordered some for myself. It's one of the most exciting makeup purchases I've made in years!I'm a Stila Girl, myself. No one makes eye makeup that comes in such a huge array of colors, that blend as well, go on as easily and last as long. Their lipstick colors are gorgeous and unique. The majority of my sizeable makeup collection is Stila.
i love stila and i love shimmers.
I just picked this up today :) So far my favorite color is Starry Night. I haven't been able to try them all on yet, but the black color will probably get the most frequent use from me.
(my still-growing beauty blog - http://dreamsofneworleans.blogspot.com/)
oh gosh stila has to be one of my favorite brands of all time (and I only have a few of their products). I want all their holiday kits, including this one zomg!!
Smudge pots are def on my list of things to try, I think the reason I haven't already is because the word "smudge" in the name scares me, haha! I wonder how it holds up as a liner compared to Bobbi Brown, MUFE or Shu Uemura?
I loveeee the brand stilla there have so much color for a good price !!!
the colors look great. i usually just use black eyeliner but the blue looks awesome.
I've never tried Smudgepots, but I keep reading these amazing reviews. This may be the perfect opportunity to try out a few at one time! I'll have to add these to my Christmas list.
I'm so mad. They are stopping to import this in France for some reason. I love Stila and have to stack up on it.
