DERMADOCTOR'S KP DUTY DRY SKIN REPAIR KIT!
Stylemama here! It is good to be back! Sometimes you go on a trip and have fun but really relish the idea of sleeping in your own bed, right? Other times you go away, and have thoughts of uprooting your entire family and never looking back. For me, Maui is that special place. After all, tropical environments are awfully good for people with my particular skin ailments. Justification? Possible denial? You bet.
On to the meat, yes, I’m talking about Keratosis Pilaris (KP), again. Listen, I hear the collective sighs, I’m right there with you, but chronic problems warrant chronic discussions. At times, I’m even the KP Ambassador. Do I like the title? Hell No! Do I deserve it? Well, Yeaaahhh. Alas! I embrace my funky skin, flaws and all. (Most of the time.) My goal is to help my sister-sufferers to do the same. Is it working yet? Is it? Is it?
Our faithful Leader sent some fantastic products to help me with m’bumps! Thanks Meg! I’m talking about DERMAdocotor’s KP Duty Dry Skin Repair Kit. The lovely and talented Dr. Audrey Kunin, created the impressive DERMAdoctor line, (Have you seen her? She’s awful purhty.) The good doctor just made my life a little easier. (I love it when that happens.) If you have KP problems and questions, get ready to find the answers with this impressive kit.
KP Duty is a two-part system than works incredibly well when used together. It’s simple, use the scrub in the shower and the accompanying lotion in place of your regular moisturizer. The scrub is not recommended for the face but trust me this Doc has plenty of other delights to choose from if facial skin is your main problem area. In fact, I could write an entire review on her website alone. Impressive.
Both my daughters inherited KP from me so I will never stop looking for the best treatments out there. By far, this two-part system has become my absolute favorite. The scrub is basically non-scented. At most you detect a very subtle, light and clean non-scent, scent. The same goes for the lotion. In addition to the stellar results, I haven’t experienced ANY irritation. Happy times.
You can purchase the system for $60.00, and it is worth every penny. In the past, I’ve spent less and every single time, my results matched the price tag: cheap and short-lived. KP Duty delivers, period.
If you are into the science behind why this magical duo works, the scrub contains 15% Buffered Glycolic Acid (superior AHA), Lactic Acid (potent AHA-stimulates cell renewal), Azelaic Acid (antibacterial qualities, reduces pigment abnormalities, and normalizes disordered growth of skin cells) Green Tea*, Willow Bark*, Algae Extracts*(*reduces redness, irritation, inflammation, and provides antioxidant protection) and Polyethylene Beads (non-abrasive physical exfoliation).
WHEW! You scientific smarty-pant types should be impressed with all those awesome ingredients! Me, I’m just thrilled it works so damn well!
As far as the lotion, smarty pants part II: it contains Glycolic Acid (superior AHA), Sodium Glycolate (Glycolic Acid Salt-aides in preventing irritation), Green Tea (EGCG-a major antioxidant), Urea (humectant), Sodium Hyaluronic (potent hydrating agent), and Dimethicone (reduces moisture evaporation).
There you have it! Parts 1 and 2, both impressive because of all the science behind it, but also because I say so! What? I am the ambassador.
I should also add, this dual-part system works beautifully for the KP-free among you. The lotion is perfect for those with very dry skin, while the scrub does a great job of prepping the skin for your favorite self-tanner. Nice.
Apart from these incredibly effective, very easy to use products, you will also find that DERMdoctor’s website is the best there is. I’m neurotic when in comes to researching a product prior to purchase. Actually, I’m just plain neurotic, and I love the DERMAwizard feature the site offers. Like they say, “Because sometimes it’s not convenient to see the doctor, we’ve brought the doctor to you……” Now that’s my kind of wizard. Reliable answers to my most embarrassing questions and I didn’t even have to change out of my favorite pajamas! Perfection.
So, who else is claiming victory over their chicken skin? Would you like to join our sorority? It’s easy to join and we even have a special handshake…….

I was all ready to start trying DERMdoctor products when they stopped selling in Australia, now I can't get hold of them!

I'm sure the girl who was featured today is happy with all your KP coverage :) She was just complaining that the very common issue doesn't get enough attention from the industry. So keep these articles coming, even though I don't have this issue it's great that it's being addressed for those that do!
these products sounds amazing! my skin condition fluctuates every now and then, sometimes it's super duper dry, other times my nose gets oily and i break out like hell.. then the uneven skin tone and pores. it's crazy and particularly hard to find products that'll help. i'll definitely be looking out for these ones.

It sounds like a great product with some really great ingredients. I'm so glad to hear that it works, I know a few people with KP that have tried so many things to no avail
you're awesome stylemama. on kp forums this product has mixed reviews and i personally get good results from the glytone bodywash/lotion kit or amlactin and at-home chemical peels plus coconut oil but thanks for the coverage on an all too common skin issue that plagues some of us megheads!

There is only ONE thing that works on my KP. MooGoo Skin cream (an Aussie brand). Unforunately all exfoliators (your physical scrub ones with sugar or salt plus the chemicals (AHA etc) make my KP worse. For me its moisturisation with MooGoo everyday and it keeps it 100% away! Plus its only $11!
I have KP also, but can't afford a $60 treatment. I just use St. Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub (actually, the store brand version) every once in a while and it helps. I just figure I'll have it the rest of my life and luckily it's not that noticeable unless you touch my arms.

I got Step one in my lovley little package that meg sent me.. But i havent tried it yet! Now iam excited to get home and try it out!!!
KP Sistah, I am so glad that you tried KP Duty. I have been using the KP Duty lotion for about a year now and I cannot say enough good things about it! It is not cheap, but the only thing that I have found to keep the chicken bumps in check. One disclamer -- this does not cure chicken bumps, so if you discontinue using it they will come back. I am looking forward to trying the scrub sometime.. hope to pick some up at Sephora/Ulta soon!
When I was a kid, I had really dry, scaly, bumpy skin (don't think it was KP), esp bad on my calves. I was always feeling itchy & my mum labelled my skin as chicken skin!! tsk tsk... normal moisturizers didn't work and my skin was uber sensitive, I will get a rash whenever I'm near green grass (physical contact not required). My turning point was from using Kiehl's Creme de Corps -- it wasn't exactly cheap and I was skeptical, but I'd heard so much good things about it. And boy did it work! My skin became soft and smooth when I was only half-way through the bottle. So yay, I trumped my (mum's) version of chicken skin! :D I''m not tempted by this Repair Kit, probably since I don't use body scrubs often and I'm no longer diligent about applying moisturizers -- I'm more likely to apply for the scent than for the moisturizing, I don't even use the Kiehl's creme anymore (my last big size bottle dried up after I used just 1/3 of it).
It sounds so goos, but I can't afford 60$ right now, plus I'm too lazy to scrub my arms every week and mousturize everyday, I always forgot it so KP gets back.
I don't have KP, nor have I tried the lotion, but I absolutely love this scrub! It gets the job done, like no other, and as Stylemama said, it's fantastic for pre-self-tanning exfoliation. It doesn't leave an oily film on your skin, so you can apply your self-tanner, directly out of the shower. Pricey, but worth it. A++++
Too pricey for me right now, and I haven't invested enough time in trying to find something that works for the KP on my legs yet. I'm more focused on getting my face balanced out and cleared up, so it's not the highest on my priority list. I guess I'm also just used to my legs being somewhat bumpy, if from KP or razor burn (damn sensitive skin!). Then again some days they're not as bad-- today for instance, I'm got a bit of stubble going on (I'm sick, which means I don't have to shave my legs! Erm.. right?), but my upper thighs are smooth and bump-free. This is being bookmarked as 'things to keep an eye out for in the future', though!
Stylemama - Welcome back! Maui no ka oi (if I spelled that correctly, it should mean Maui is the best. And it is! First time I went there, I bawled like a baby in the airport when it was time to leave. Now that's pathetic!I don't have KP but I would definitely give the scrub and/or lotion a try. I love smooth skin. I've used Dermadoctor hand cream - and I thought it was amazing. I hope the set continues to help you and your girls.

ugh, I used to have awful KP. Thankfully Accutane which I took for cystic acne freed me from that.
I'm so glad to hear that this works.
OMG Stylemama I'm so glad you did a review on this. I had read something about this exact product in a magazine a while ago and I had torn out the ad so I would remember to check it out but alas my pit of a purse swallowed (along with a set of keys, my MAC lip balm and some sock singles that will never be apart of a pair again.. I blame the purse not the dryer) so I couldn't remember what to check out but this is it!! And it works! I only mildly have KP but its enough that I never want to wear my arms out because it seems really obvious to me. Thanks!

Thanks for reviewing this brand. I have looked at it many times at ULTA. However, no one seemed to know much about it. I did not want to purchase without a little background info. Thanks for the great review.
Lol purple and CHICKEN!! lol I love chickens, but the real purpose behind this product sounds superb.I can only DREAM of having dry skin.... Just an oil slick for me :(

Thanks for the review! This one will definitely go on my skincare wishlist! KP comes and goes, right now its not so bad so I think I'll wait to try this till I get some more $$. Thanks for bringing these products up, I didn't even know what KP was, or that other people had it before I found this site!!
This sounds wonderful! I've always wanted to try Dermadoctor (I have horrible KP on my upper arms), but I've never actually done it. Though ordering something that expensive online is probably not gonna happen until I'm old enough to use my own card...
Lucky for me, I don't have KP. I did enjoy reading your review though, ambassador.Keep up the good work and keep those KP product reviews coming.

Glad to hear that this works. Wondering where they sell it in Canada.
i'd love to try this!where could I find this in canada though...?
I think I may have a slight case of KP on my shoulders. Is there an alternative to this? Dermadoctor isn't available where I live. :(
Thank you for another awesome product review! I have friends with KP, and my partner has it on his arms too from what I can detect. I'm so happy to see they ship to Australia! This might be something I order in the near future.
I use this and it works very well. I just hate that most KP products(that reall work) are pertty expensive. I'm definitely a repeat buyer of this line, though.
Looks fabulous and I am definitely going to try this product. I wish, in a way, I never found this site because I have been spending money on new products and having the ultimate blast trying them. I am now addicted to this site. Hi, my name is Chanelisbest, (pseudonym), of course, and I'm a Megaholic, Hi Chanelisbest!!! Well it all started when a friend of mine who knows I love beauty products introduced me to this site.. now it's over, my credit cards are maxed but I am having a blast!! Love the site and now am a true fan for life!! I can pay them off. As long as I'm happy .. RIGHT?

I actually love the packaging of DermaDoctor products and have mild KP I've been ignoring...maybe I should start paying more attention to it and use it as an excuse to buy this. Good to know it works!
Thanks Meg. The bottle looks so cute to!
This looks like a great product, but like many of the other ladies here... That price tag is just way too steep for me :( What works well enough for me now is Amlactin lotion - no, it doesn't make it go away, but it's better :)
xoxo
PERFECT FOR MY Dry skin !!!OMG , i want this cream !!!
Amy , Big kisses from Paris!
i just got unrefined shea butter for my dry legs, it is in the mail :) I find shaving really drys my skin out. This looks great too.. but shea butter is more natural and cheaper!
makeup makeup makeup!!!!!!!
It's a pretigious brand very expensive.
I need this! It sounds like something that would really work for my dry skin. Yes, it may be worth the price - but that still is a big price tag I can't afford. Worth the cash, but I don't even have that much! I guess wait until another time.

I love purple but have never seen this colour on a skincare product before, makes me want to buy it! Very pricey for me!

Keep up the KP talk! I have it and hate it with a frothy passion. it wasn't so bad when I was living in a cold climate, but now that I am living in a beach town it is like hell on earth. I am so sick of answering akward questions about it. Why has the issue been ignored for so long as it is?
Not really for me. My skin is normal/a little oily at times.
I really want to try this I heard it was really good. I have really dry skin.
I don't have Keratosis Pilaris, but I have severely dry dry skin called ichthyosis. Ichthyosis is scaly skin and it really helps to use Glycolic Acid. I have never been able to wear foundation because it looks like I have flour all over my face. I bought a tube of Dermadoctor's KP Duty and I now have a soft face. I am now on my second tube of it. It would really help if I use it all over, but I just can't afford to....my body is big. LOL I highly recommend this to anyone who has really dry skin. Now I can try a foundation.
Sounds great - and prepping for self-tanner is an added bonus!
I really like this packaging, it's very cute and girly, great to pull out from the handbag!

moisturize now, less wrinkles later! www.lingsblog.wordpress.com
I would buy this just because my initials are KP and it would be fun haha! I wish I had 60$ to try this. I have been experiencing chest and shoulder blemishes lately. I guess I am fortunate to not have dealt with this till now, at 26 years, however... I don't feel lucky, I feel ucky. I am constantly scouring shelves trying to find a cure. I would love to try this.
