EXFOLISHAVE!
Jeanasina here! When I first opened up the jar, after removing the reassuring safety seal, I looked at the product and I immediately thought of sand and coffee grounds mixed together! When I sunk my finger down into the substance to feel it, my fingers became rather gritty, definitely like sand was stuck to them. The fragrance is really heady, earthy and deep. The aroma reminds me of heavy wet clay. This fragrance comes across to me as something Cleopatra probably would have had as a base component in her arsenal of skincare potions. It was actually very hard for me to believe this gritty concoction was going to be good for shaving! No way! I'm just so very skeptical! You know most shave intended products are whipped, foamy and smooth textured? How in the Sam Hill is this grit city substance going to make it an easier experience shaving!
Here's some important information about ExfoliShave! Exfolishave is an all natural 3-in-1 product designed to exfoliate and moisturize while providing the smoothest shave available. Again! SMOOTH? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Since this product is going to exfoliate and give me a dandy shave, it's going to be saving me money by eliminating the need for multiple products right? ExfoliShave works first as a natural exfoliant, then as an invigorating lather and lastly moisturizes with essential oils and flower extracts! Enticing build up here!
According to their website, ExfoliShave is even gentle enough to use on your face! I think Mr. Harleyman would take one look inside this jar and say “Forget about it dear!” I don't see him using this to shave his bald head anytime soon. Listen to this! ExfoliShave contains all natural ingredients for healthier skin, including, lemongrass, bamboo, French walnut shell and essential flower oils! Starting to ring my bell here... The benefits of ExfoliShave are smooth, supple legs! This product is supposed to eliminates blemishes, ingrown hairs and razor burn even in the bikini area! It replaces exfoliants, harmful shaving creams and body lotions with one all natural, clinically-tested product. You should be able to shave less often. It claims to be perfect for everyone, men, women, athletes and teenagers with skin problems! The French walnut shell in ExfoliShave polishes your bathtub as you rinse it! If it can polish my bathtub – it's hard not to think the word 'harsh' isn't it?
We are putting in a second bathroom in our basement so a couple of total hotties have been down there with a jackhammer demolishing the cement floor. There are piles and piles of very earthy brown dirt down there and the dirt smells very similar to this product! If I didn't know better I'd think my Harleyman husband tricked me and filled my container up with the stuff from the basement!
Here's how you use it..You scoop out a quarter-sized amount of the ExfoliShave and apply it to wet legs (I'm trying it on my legs – you guys can work the other hairy areas you lament about when you try it) rubbing gently to begin the exfoliation process. You should notice a lather forming. If no lather forms, simply add more water and continue massaging the product onto your skin. Once a lather forms, simply shave as you normally would. When you are finished shaving your skin will be smooth and moisturized without being greasy or oily.
Is THAT what I experienced ladies? So here's my take on it. I used it and I felt like I starred in the movie “The Sand Lot”. Holy grit! It's definitely messy! I had dark grit all over the white tiles in the bathtub as well as all over the bottom of the bathtub! It definitely DOES exfoliate and it definitely DOES lather up and you definitely CAN shave with it! After the shaving process is over you do have to work to get all the grit off of your legs (I used a plastic cup and filled it repeatedly with water because a wash cloth didn't quite cut it). After letting my legs dry for awhile, I WILL say this right now... my legs are incredibly SMOOTH after this process! Holy-haven't-felt-legs-that-soft-since-I-was-young! Positively GREAT results! You probably could go without putting on any lotion, but my legs are bone dry so I did eventually top my smooth gams off with lotion! I'm telling you right now, the bathtub looks like it does when your kids have been at the beach or in the sandbox all day long and then take a bath at the end of the day. Total travesty but of course it does clean up and I can't say one way or other other if I thought it polished my bathtub.
I love that the product was natural, there is not a doubt in my mind about that being 100% true! There is nothing fake about this stuff! I think the final results are awesome but it's a bit too messy for me personally. However, if you want someone to really take notice about the fine quality of your sexy legs – this is the product for you! It really took me back to a time when my legs were my #1 asset and the guys used to always comment on how smooth my legs were and felt the need to stroke them for long periods of time! They are totally like that tonight! Absolute killer results using this product. Even though I'm not a fan of the mess this makes, I am blown away by the end result of using this product! My legs feel like the legs of a twenty something year old girl!
Have any of you tried this product or do any of you have favorite products or routines to keep your legs dazzlingly hot hair-free and desirable!

This sounds like a really interesting, unusual product. A bit on the pricey side, though. And maybe I don't need it since I'm already a twenty something and thus have the legs of one :)
wow this sounds like a great product! i always manage to cut myself shaving every time, i probably woldn't notice until i feel blood trickle down my leg.. (sorry too much info!) but my legs are usually pretty dry! especially after shaving, so exfolishave is definitely something i need to follow up on! great review :)

Sounds like an interesting product, thanks for the review
Would this work for the underarms as well? I avoid shaving my underarms because of the horrible ingrown hairs I get. I just stick to waxing or plucking which is really time consuming.
This sounds like an interesting product, but like you, I think it'd be too messy for me.

Anything that does not dissolve in water is a no-go in my home. Hair in the drain is bad enough when shaving, but add sand to that, some soap and you will soon have pipes that are cemented shut. It got so bad recently that we had to cut a hole in our cellar floor and replace the pipes underneath our house! Admittedly, those were 60 year old pipes, so they had had a lot of time to become clogged. I definitely understand how arteries work now! :PAnyhow, it sounds like an interesting concept. However, it sounds way too messy for a busy morning! I think I'll stick to sugar and salt scrubs. Talking of which, perhaps my beloved Ocean Salt from Lush would work much the same way? It does become all slippery when it has melted, after all, which is the hallmark of a good shaving product. And nothing leaves my 20 something legs as smooth, and moisturised afterwards. Off to try!
Hmm. The messiest I am willing to get is making homemade bread and at least I have something to eat for my efforts. I hate shaving my legs and because I am a fitness instructor and wear athletic shorts, skirts and capris year round I shave almost daily year round. I would like to know if Ocean Salt from Lush works because I have that in my bathroom. But I don't think I am going to use something that resembles demolition detrius on my body. Either that or I will just start rolling around at construction sites. Thanks for the the great investigative reporting!
I would definately like to try something like that, but alas, the price is too much. I just use cheap hair conditioner as a shaving cream on my legs, works great!

I think this is a great idea. I was reading just yesterday actually that exfoliating and shaving is not a good idea when done together. The article said that shaving and exfoliating both strip a layer of skin away, hopefully the dead skin cells, but when one is done right after the other it results in razor burn or really sensitive, possibly peeling skin because of harsh treatment. If a product sells and offers to do both without strip your skin twice than I'd rather use that under their advisement, unfortunately it comes with mess included. Ladies I'm curious to know how your own exfoiliant works when you use it to shave if it isn't made for that.... Jeanasina thanks for the review. I will definitely check this out. My favorite thing is to get out of the shower with uber smooth legs and curl up with a fuzzy blanket mmm :)
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
I love the idea of a product that exfoliates and creates a shaving lather in one step (genius!) but it sounds like it'd be too messy for me too. Exfoliating before shaving is definitely the way to go, though. You get a better shave and your skin will feel smoother in general, but also smoother for longer. I have a bottle of scrub from B&BW but there's no reason you couldn't use good ol' St. Ives scrub or even a DIY salt or sugar scrub.
Morning has broken and my legs are still amazingly hairless and erotically smooth! I woke up and reached down and glided my hand across my fabulous new legs and wowed myself into a state of complete admiration! My Harleyman husband on the other hand had eyes as big as fried eggs when he witnessed the sand quality of this product! I think his gentle words were something like "We have plumbers here redoing the pipes! The last thing we need is sand in the pipes!" I think that was his way of hinting he would prefer I shave outside when using this product again, perhaps during a good rainstorm! Megsplace! Wow! That was absolutely an interesting article you shared with us about exfoliating and shaving at the same time giving harsh results! I could see that especially if you did it often! Agnesonutter...my husband is on board with everything you said about the pipes! Last month we also had a plumber out to snake our pipes so again, the grit factor is probably too much. I could see having this product used in a spa for sure as the recipients would not have to do the cleaning after the application and the results would absolutely assure client return appointments for this luxurious shaving method and it's phenomenal results!
Jeanasina!
It sounds like something I have to have. I always exfoliate, then shave, i know it's supposed to be too harsh, but I've been doing it for years, so I think my skin has developed a tolerance for it. Exfoliation def. improves the length of your shave and makes your legs smoother.
It sounds pretty revolutionary if you ask me. And because it exfoliates as well you won't really have as much ingrown hair if you are prone to it (like I am :( ) which is even cooler!!!
Thanks for the even-handed review (the good and the bad). I was very interested in having the kind of results you had... but I just can't handle that kind of mess. It's good to know ahead of time! I guess I'll just continue to exfoliate first and THEN shave. I can do that with the products I already have.

If it smells like sand and looks like sand I'll just go to my local beach and... :)Your review was super cute, though!

wouldnt it make ur blade duller faster? idk about this one. and then you said it was messy? ill pass.

I don't know how i feel about this concept. I think i like to exfoliate seperately....I would think the grit would make my blades go dull like a_banger said! I don't like the way they described the scent either--if i want to smell like dirt i'll go out and get some to use as an exfoliation process and i bet it would be very cheap...LOLi'm so glad to see that this product was liked but....too messy so i'm not tempted to buy it :)
Aveda's Smoothing Body Polish foams as you work it in. This sounds like a similar product. If I use the Aveda Body Polish to shave, I don't need a moisturizer after the shower unless I'm really dry. It gives a great exfoliation and isn't difficult to rinse off once it's been worked into a lather.Whenever I want the CLOSEST, touchable shave, I use an exfoliating scrub with a loofah, then shave with a cream- or oil-based product. To make legs super smooth, I like a body butter or absorbent oil applied to damp skin.
This is one of those products that I will use for the rest of my life. I have THE most difficult time getting nice, long-lasting, smooth results whenever I shave--but not anymore! I am so happy Meg sent me this unique, totally amazing product! I won't be without it and yes, I use it all over. For me, the mess is minor compared to the results. I just drain the tub, let it dry, give my bath a (very) quick swipe with a damp paper towel and then rinse the little bit that remains, right on down the drain. Bye-bye stubble, bye- bye irritation and hello legs I can actually share with the public-YAY! It's good to be back Megheads! Muuuaaaahh!
Loved your review! but I have some reservations about this product mainly the mess in the tub afterwards, I hate cleaning the tub almost as much as I hate shaving! LOL
intresting and my curiousity is getting the better of me....but I don't think i could deal with the mess..
I love exfoliating products, but I unfortunately can't use razors.I use an electric razor dry. Its the only thing that wont break me out in itchy, blitchy painful razorburn!!!Its not very smooth and usually is prickly the next day, but I rarely show off my legs lolI might like this just to exfoliate though.\!

I was a little wary of this product when I first opened it as it reminded me of a dry scrub I once was not fond of. But I can definitely concur that it leaves you ultra, silky smooth and may even keep me from developing a 5:00 shadow. Yes ladies...my shave does NOT last. You would never know I'm such a white girl by my leg hair. You'd think I was growing a protective coat for an arctic winter! But I did notice I stayed smooth until halfway through the next day and that is a plus for me. I too do not like to clean my bathtub (its so big I have to crawl into it in my birthday suit to clean and rinse it out or I end up soaked in my clothes) so that was a hard point for me to. However, I'm envisioning a brilliant product development move on behalf of Exfolishave that limits the mess for us in the near future. The BEST ideas come from Megs! Give it a try for super smooth legs that last...just keep it in the tub where you can rinse it out easily and keep the fuss to a minimum! Thanks for a product that really keeps my tough leg hair down!!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
NINA0205: No problem on the underarms for me, it's very effective in that area as well. No irritation and it provides a very clean feeling and super close, smooth shave. (Zero irritation or ingrown hairs.) Again, I really didn't find the clean up troublesome at all, a very worthwhile product for me.
Jeanasina, you've written many wonderful reviews but this one is my favorite! A really great review written about what sounds like a really great product. I am definitely buying this. My legs are a feature that I take pride in and I can never get them as smooth as I like. Fortunately my boyfriend still likes to touch them, but I'd prefer them to be smoother. The only unfortunate side effect of the exfoliation is the fact that all of my self tanner will go down the drain with the sand. Thanks for a great review!

Wow! Amazing. It`s a 3-in-1 product and it`s natural. I didn`t know this product and your review is a great discovery. Thanks!
Great review, I like reading the good and the bad! Not every product is perfect and it's great to hear some honesty. This sounds like something that if it were a gift, I'd use it once or twice, but might not buy it myself. However, I'm stealing the concept and going to try a sugar scrub before I shave next to get that extra smooth feeling without the dirty tub.
This product sounds great! It's a bit expensive, though. I think I'm gonna try making my own sugar scrub as well!
like many other commenters, a wee bit to pricey! lucky for me i don't have much hair on my legs and thus i only need to shave every two weeks or so :o)
sounds like an awesome result...but just too much hassle and mess... I really wanna try it though!
Like other have said, this sound great, except for the mess! But if it really works like you say, then I probably wouldnt mind. Off to check it out, thanks for the review!
Sounds a bit messy for the cleanup. When I'm done, I like to be done, not cleaning up. Luckily I have hardly any hair on my legs naturally so I shave rarely.
I like the idea that it exfoliates, that way there's one less step in the shaving process. I usually use a loofah over my legs before shaving, and while it's not that difficult or time consuming, I really do hate extra steps in the shower. I've been using Trader Joe's Honey Mango shaving cream, and it's nice and moisturizing but I still rub a few drops of Vitamin E oil on my legs after I get out to seal in the moisture. My skin is notoriously dry and sensitive, my legs often wind up flaky and bumpy afterward if I use new things. It takes a lot of trial and error, and I've found I can only use natural products on them so as to not irritate them further.
This sounds like it might be something nice to use at the beginning of the spring/summer when you're first showing pale legs to the rest of the world! :) Since i have two boys who almost daily fill the tub with dirt and grime, I don't think I'd be bothered too much with the grit of this product. Definately sounds like something to try.
There's a product similar to this in the Aveda line...We also had to make sure no one who got pedicures had a nut allergy. One lady said she didn't, but she did. Believe me, nuts+hot water+scrubbing+allergy=DISASTER! Be very very careful with walnut shells (even if its just extract) in your skin products!

This does sound kind of revolutionary, doesn't it? My first thought when reading this was that the gritty stuff you use to exfoliate (with any product) would mess up the razor and give you a crappy shave. I guess not!! The fact that is exfoliate AND lathers is very interesting!
I would love to try this products. I use a pumice scrub om my feet, whenever I take a bath and that always leaves the bottom of the tub gritty. Since it's already going to be gritty, why not add this product into my arsenal.

Sounds too messy for me... even though I'm not the one who cleans the bathroom... I usually shave after a warm shower, and apply a creamy moisturizer. I had IPL to remove the hair on my armpits and I'm thinking of doing it for my legs soon.
liiike sandpaper.
This is an "interesting" product that really fills a niche! I found it a bit harsh but then again,I have totally and horribly sensitive skin. :(Mess doesn't bother me but because the hair on my legs is so fine,I'd probably use only before "something special" but ABSOLUTELY appreciate that it's available for those that need a bit of help!!!
Hrm, I agree with most of the others - the premise is definitely unusual and interesting. I don't know if I like the idea of the granules getting caught in my razor though? This is a *might try* for me.
This product sounds like it would be very hard on your porcelain tubs. I can not even use Comet or products like that on mine. I need soft scrubs or bar keepers friend. I like that your skin felt great though.
Beste Hilsin
Sounds like an interesting product, but I don't have particularly hairy legs, so I only shave about once a week. I'm in my 20's, so I think my legs are pretty low maintinence at this point in time. :) Thanks for the review!
This sounds like a really unique product, but I can't get over the mess. I'm so OCD about my showers and bathtubs, and I can't even imagine having my butt feel gritty when I sit down to take a bath!
Coffee and sand? possibily two of my fav things in this world! This product sounds great! I've just tried St tropez new Exfoliate scrub, its around $9.99 and comes in a big fat tub. I keep mine in the shower and put a huge slather on before shaving/tanning. Result = baby bottom soft legs!x
Hi Jeanasina !
I like products rather natural and that there is brilliant!!!
It is important to take care of our skin, and not to impose her a torture!
I think that it is with this kind of product that we resource (by eating very also, indeed on)!
The exfoliating seems perfect, soft, and really mythical!!
Thank you for this discovery
Amy , Big kisses from Paris!
That sounds like something I'd try. I use to use this aromatherapy sea salt scrub, I can't remember the name, but I'd scrub my legs with it and rinse it off, and it would seem to leave my skin oily and smooth, then I'd shave without any shaving cream or condition perfectly fine. Afterwards my legs would stay nice and soft, I never used any lotion over it because it had this subtle lemony smell that was just wonderful. Man, I have to go look for some, they were a christmas gift one year.
Haven't tried this. I tried the Nair hair removal lotion for sensitive skin (in the old looking bottle) It was only $3.99 and it worked great.
I have never used anything like this but you have me convinced to run out and get it! I LOVE the fact its natural since im on a natural products kick currently!
weird! i dont know im not entirely convince that i would like this. I do love natural products but get along fine using just soap to get a good shave with my razer. if more people give reviews here about how they like it i might give it a go though
