CHRISTOPHER DRUMMOND TRAVEL KIT FOR MEN!
Sunboy1 here! Hello gorgeous ladies of Megs Makeupland! First off I have to say sorry for being M.I.A. for so long. I was having a Morton Salt crisis (when it rains it pours….)
I had to sort through that but I’m back! Revived, better and ready to take on anything life has got for me!
A while back a brown box came to my door and it was from Meg. I was super excited! I opened it up and there was a sleek black tube with a killer logo on it. I was intrigued and excited to see what was inside! Well I have to admit when three pots of powder, a make up brush and some serum were dumped out I was a little perplexed. Maybe Meg meant to send this bronzer and primer powder to one of the lovely ladies? I quickly read the label on the tube and it said TRAVEL KIT FOR MEN!
I then hopped online and read about this travel kit and see how I was supposed to use this stuff (I have to admit, I am a bad gay. I cringe when my friends would tell me we were doing brunch at the Abbey or we were going out for drinks at Rage.) Yes, I do enjoy shopping with my girls, ogling the hot new Prada pumps at Neiman’s and I will dress you up with all my love and put Rachel Zoe to shame! I just don’t do the whole makeup thing!
When I noticed there was a bronzer-horrible flashbacks of being attacked by my girls at the M.A.C. counter came flooding back and didn’t know what I was going to do with this stuff!
I took it into the bathroom and decided I’d be brave and give it a go. Being the bad gay that I am, I didn’t know how to apply the bronzing powder so the first try was a total crash and burn moment. I had a huge bronze oval on my forehead. Through a little trial and error I have gotten used to applying said bronzer, I absolutely love this stuff! Now I typically go for the more fair, light skinned approach in my appearance but just a touch of this stuff gave my skin the perfect sun kissed look I enjoy sometimes without having to deal with a sunburnt body along with it. Along with the bronzer there was some Finale Finishing Powder and Saúde Pele Radiance Booster which I also absolutely love! I have gotten into the habit of using this combination on a daily basis.
I even have my own technique for applying all three powders now. The applicator pad that comes with them holds too much and goes on real splotchy so for the bronzer I shake some onto that and then pick it up from the pad with the brush that is also included and just lightly dust it on the tops of my brow, nose, cheeks and chin and I have a great soft tint that just makes me look fresh and gives me a healthy glow.
Next, I use the Finishing Powder and Radiance Booster I just lightly swirl the brush around in the pot and pick up just a little bit of dust and just brush it all over my face for a highlighting glow all over (I was excited about this because I was always in love with Dandelion face powder from Benefit but knew it would never work on me).
Lastly, the Revitalizing Facial Serum is one thing that I was super excited from the get go, I am a “serum” fanatic! It has a lovely green and citrusy scent (orange leaves perhaps?) great stuff and a few days after using it I noticed my skin was brighter which is always a plus. The one bummer about it is that it’s only 4ml and from what I’ve researched it’s only available in the men’s travel kit so I would end up with a stockpile of bronzer et al just for my prized serum. Now I wanted to give the powder a couple weeks testing time to be sure that I didn’t praise it and then a week later I end up with a rash or something. I’m happy to report that no allergic reaction, no clogged pores, no “M.A.C.” face, just a great glow be it a healthy tinted one or a bright illuminating one, I recommend you gals tell all your gay/metro boys about this stuff and get them using it!
For all you greenies out there you’ll be happy to know that Christopher Drummond is “100% natural, organic-based cosmetics that contain natural antioxidants, such as Açai, green tea, calming botanicals, balancing essential oils, and anti-inflammatory soy isoflavones” and I’m sure all of us know that is a major plus. So what do you ladies think about makeup for men? Why should you ladies have all the fun when it comes time to hide or highlight skin issues?

Must buy one for my husband ...
I tend to over do it with bronzers since I'm so used to looking very deep dark tan, when I have a real tan.. I don't know what subtly means in this frame of reference :)

Megken does some really great things in the name of megsmakeup.com. He was a sweetie and after his screaming "NO! God! NO! What is wrong with you!?!" I chased him around the room, held him down and then expertly applied his makeup! I blended the radiance powder onto his nose and made these little veins on the bridge completely disappear. I evened out his skintone and then highlighted his newly fresh face with a slight touch of bronzer. It looked 100% NATURAL! You would nned a magnifying mirror to see any telltale signs. It looked exactly like Megken....Just Better! I am a huge fan of this line and can't wait to get celebrity makeup artist Christopher Drummond to send us some lady stuff! If you know any man that is self-conscious about any type of ski discoloration or marks or veins then be sure to let them know that this is really a "MUST"
This kit sounds great. I don't have a problem with make-up on men, when it's used subtly and isn't really obvious. My guy uses tinted moisturiser and concealer, I'd love to find products that were specifically made for men though, so I'm going to check out Christoper Drummond now.

It sounds incredibly interesting! From my experience with cosmetics/body care men don't really like it until is specifically says "for men!" They then LOVE it!I have nothing against men and makeup, as long as its done well! Women shouldn't have all the fun.But I do notice how great men look quite often and they haven't use ANYTHING on their skin - EVER! So unfair!
Ditto!! I agree that it has to be branded 'for men'. And yes, men have great skin too, totally unfair.
men in makeup? hmm..... i dont see much of a problem with it, i mean everyone wants to look good right :), and pretty much all celeb men wear it. as long as it doesnt look "overly drag-queenish" its cool
Nice kit, will have to buy for my husband
I have to say Sunboy1 wrote a really great review on this product. I give him props for his creative mind to write about men's makeup with such detail, accuracy and flair. I don't want to start a trend where men are doing the shoulder push with their women for mirror space. I don't even look in the mirror when I do my hair, which only consist of a little Mixed Chick's leave in condish and some minoxi. My testimony is that after meg applied some C. Drummond on me, it looked nice. I hate to admit it, but the best part was that I don't think anyone noticed, because no one said, "Hey Megken, nice bronzer." I am not going to use my Christopher Drummond every day but if I was going to a photo shoot or on camera interview, now that Megken is so famous, I am glad I have it in my arsenal. Like my gun, it's better to have one and not need it, than need it and not have it.
thank you very much megken! :) I'm in total agreement with your last statement too! Living in Atlanta now I feel like I NEED to buy one.

Sounds like good stuff, but I can hardly get my husband to use aftershave, let alone something like this. Plus, he has great skin!

Thanks Gigi! I've been around here and there for almost two years now, I have a love/hate relationship with the internet at times. As far as your husbands dark circles, I'm not sure, I don't have to deal with that but my sister does and she swears by Benefit's Eyecon it doesn't fade the circles but it brightens, moisturizes and camoflages them. I think the Radiance Booster might do that but I don't know how close to the eyes you want to get a powder.

Great review. I'm fine with makeup for guys, I draw the line at boyliner, though. I mean, it's fine for the clubs, but when I see guys wearing it in the middle of the day, it's not cute.
My father wears bronzer, so I've never though makeup was exclusively for gay men. I bought him a long-handled kabuki and Natural Reflections Summer Bronzer, both from Everyday Minerals. I haven't sent it to him yet though, his birthday is next month.
I'm all for makeup on men, they should be able to get in on the fun, too! No double standards here :)
Men should get in on the fun too! No discrimination here!
this sounds like a great kit! i think men with make up are great, i love people who dare to try new/different things. however, i wouldn't prefer my boyfriend wearing foundation, blush, mascara etc.. it would be kind of.. odd.although i do I wish my dad and my boyfriend were more.. well groomed!!!!

Hmmm. Good to know that the men are able to get a little makeup love, but I am not really a fan of men in makeup. But I guess if it makes you confident/happy, then do it. It just seems odd to me; it's those gender stereotypes coming into play I guess - ladies should be the pretty ones. ;) I think it would be fantastic for photographs or special occasions where a man would want to look his best. I just wouldn't want him to look different than he normally would. But Meg says it's impossible to tell without a magnifying mirror, so that passes I guess! So guys, if your canvas needs a little prepping and refining, I guess this is the stuff to get!
Why should makeup be a girl-exclusive thing? Guys have stuff they want to cover up or accentuate too! The same goes for good skin care, for sure, and even manicures. I wish there wasn't so much of a stigma around all that, because I definitely know some guys who would benefit from all of it!
OOh you should get some Christopher Drummond ladies makeup :) I'm totally single and I know my guy friends would REFUSE to wear makeup!!!
WoW I thought this was so cool and I loved you review!
thanks! :D

lol I think a little makeup on a guy is ok.Subtle, highlighting lolNever really though about it but man a little face powder can really do a guy some good!
Tan is Love
I love this .....But I would have to tie my husband down and make him wear this....I reallly do like this idea ....I'm always bugging him to wear lotion and sunscreen.....he doesn't listen
What a great read! My husband would freak out if I EVER suggested this to him, but I enjoyed reading about the steps you took to make it right. Some products don't always come with very good directions and those that do, sometimes don't work for everyone. Good for you for figuring out what worked best. And yes, I would LOVE some of this type of stuff for women!
Eh, I'm not for this much makeup or grooming on a guy. He shouldn't have a more complicated routine or products than me. I have no issue with a really bad blemish or something being concealed but not tons mineral makeup allover the face. That flat top brush looks pretty handy though.
I really like your style of writing! Glad you enjoyed it.I'm all for men wanting their skin to look nice. It's even better when they're into skincare too because it's much more fun to kiss a smooth face :)
I think that they don`t want to use makeup because it`s not masculine enough. The brands are designing specific lines for men but men are embarrassed to use them. They do not want anyone to know they wear makeup but on the other hand I`m sure that they would like to hide imperfections to be more awesome.
My hubby wouldn't touch m/u with a ten foot pole. I sometimes have to make him go wash his face.

I'm all for men wearing makeup to accentuate their looks. Most actors wear makeup and they look fab! At my old work place at an orchestra, most of the male soloists will wear makeup when they perform. Now I work in a bank and none of my male colleauges wear makeup... but sometimes I couldn't help but think if they could just groom their brows, dab some concealer and wear some powder, they would definitely look better... makes going to work more interesting (for me!).. haha
ha! entertaining article!personally, I'm not into the whole... makeup on men look?unless it's the few basics like foundation ;D
Hello Sunboy1! Looking forward to hearing from you again really soon - I haven't seen you around since I joined! Love your article, great job. :D
thanks shaybear! yeah, took a little hiatus from life for a few months but I'm working my way back :)

I don't know how I feel about makeup for men. I appreciate male grooming, and that they take care of their skin and lips (thus the necessary chapstick, etc.) but full blown makeup as in shadow and bronzer? Seems so foreign to me. I am warming up to men wanting to use concealer, but again, I think this is more widely accepted among gay men than heterosexual men. Though I think this is a good product, I don't think I'll be buying it for my honey any time soon.

I'm not sure about men MU either... It does sound weird to me. I don't know a single guy who wears or wants to wear MU. I'm rather open-minded though, so I think I would be totally okay with it if I did see that one day.
Men wear makeup is fine for me. However, bear in mind that do not overdo it. Just apply makeup with light hands and keep it natural and thin as if no makeup on. Afterall, who doesn't want to look good so men definitely have the right to wear makeup! :)
I don't see a reason men shouldn't wear makeup. I don't want to be told I can't do something because I am a woman, so won't do the same to men. I know most women don't like the idea, but when women started to wear makeup (last time I mean, there were times in history when women could wear makeup, then had to stop and all over again) men disapproved of makeup, but women didn't let men dictate them what to do.
